Me sharing my experience: I signed up with Harley because Blockhead inspired me to want to ride a motorcycle :) we took the class the first day and it opened up to staying vigilant and always having an exit plan, along with a lot of other useful information in the book and presentations. Then the next day was learning the very basics: from starting to riding around for a bit in the exercises including braking, gear shift, lane changes, etc. my first day I struggled with balance and controlling my bike (I actually fell off a few times) and I lost confidence and didn’t think it was for me. But I still went. The next and final day, it was more of applying what you learned from the first day of riding. I did WAY better, I don’t know what it was but I guess I had a better feel for the Street 500s (I only dropped once because I got a little too excited right before the exam) and I passed the exam with flying colors. Now I own an Iron 883 and I’m riding down the highways every chance I get! If you feel nervous, just try your hardest. It seemed crammed, but listen to your instructor and learn from any mistakes you make and you’ll be golden!

I remember my first day VS 2nd day. I gotta say it's night and day, you can pick up a ton of the skills very quickly.

I absolutely understand I bought a Harley Davidson 1200 sportser 48 my first real motorcycle you might as well say I'm an absolute beginner OK that bike has two speeds stop and rocket 🚀 the hardest thing I've had to deal with is the throttle there is no room for Error I'm mean just the least little move on it its off to the races Killercreek Harley Davidson Roswell GA is just an awesome place they sold me an awesome motorcycle but it's nothing to be taken for granted 1200 is all motor I have nothing but respect for that bike

Watching and focusing on these basics from the comfort and privacy of my living room and being able to rewind if needed gives a great foundation. That little extra familiarity should take some heat off when stepping on the asphalt this weekend with a group of strangers. Thanks for posting.
I watched your older videos on how to ride , passed the course, and got my license. Been riding over a year now.
You know, I basically learned enough to get me through the MSF from your old tutorial videos without completely embarrassing myself. Looking back on that after over a year and a half of riding, I forgot how much was just muscle memory and I don't even think about the clutch anymore. It's basically part of everything I do. Good on the new riders getting out there and getting it done. It seems intimidating at first, but you'll be surprised how quickly you can acclimate to it.

It is easy to forget that we were once in the position of never having ridden a bike. I learned by jumping on one 45 years ago. I actually took the MSF class in 2007 after getting a bike after being away from them for a few years. I recommend this class to anyone who is getting their motorcycle endorsement. Even after years of riding I learned some things in this class that have saved me from injuring or killing myself. Glad there are people out there willing to have the patience to teach this class to riders.

I went through the msf course at redstone Harley Davidson in Madison, Al in March.... great course and I stay in touch with my classmates, so it's more than just a class it's the first taste of the riding brotherhood
Took mine there June of last year.
I go to the course next week as an absolute newbie. I’ve wanted a bike since I was a kid but never managed to get one and now that I’m so close, the gravity of my inexperience is hitting me, because I know two guys who failed the course the first time. This does a lot to at least give me the concept of riding. Thank you!
I just took the MSF in Massachusetts this weekend and didn’t pass. I’ve been riding for about a month to prepare for the class on my Harley Dyna Super Glide and thought I was all set.The Kawasaki 250 I rode felt unbalanced compared to my Harley and when I did the figure 8 in the box, I put my foot down. I couldn’t get the concept of turning my head into the first left turn and it caused me (and others)to run wide. I think I developed bad habits before the MSF class that I couldn’t correct them.When I ride my Harley I feel confident on the road and I will practice the figure 8 in the 20’ box and take the test again.Believe me,some of the people who passed never rode a motorcycle and they really didn’t seem like they were road ready

Just graduated from the MSF course a few weeks ago. Thanks Block for inspiring me with your first set of how-to videos better than a year ago. Got a ‘96 Yamaha XV750, rebuilt the carburetors, waiting on a manifold gasket. Block, you even took the fear away of doing my own work.

After 10 years of wanting a motorcycle, I'm finally taking a course (a requirement in Texas), and getting one. Blockhead has been a big inspiration for me to do this.
Also, mad props to him going through this course for us to learn from. Of course everyone needs practice, but he has taught these basics multiple times in different ways on his channel, and is great at teaching it, so thanks Blockhead!
One thing I always appreciated about your channel is that you have material for all skill levels. Boring stuff for a lot of people, but perfect for us noobs and aspiring motorcycle riders.

i know its not a huge deal for some people but after a year or so i finally managed to pass my cbt (uk) and get myself a bike. Its so surreal that im now on the roads, pootling about with my dad and brother. Cheers BlockyBoi for keeping the dream alive during that difficult year :)

I just took my class here in San Diego. I learned on Grom! Fun little thing. For some reason none of the bikes in the training had the mirrors on.
That's an awesome bike to learn on, I've used mine to teach a few people to ride as well!
Same, my MSF had no mirros, and none of the lights (head/tail/blinker) worked.
I think they take the mirrors off to enforce head checks. They drill head checks into us like crazy when I did my MSF.
I think I've watched at least 10 of your videos and I felt the need to comment and say how appreciative I am. As a new rider, this is SO helpful. Keep making great content! 10/10

Harley offers a great opportunity in learning how to ride. Most Harley dealerships offer the course with NO OBLIGATION to purchase a motorcycle. They supply the motorcycle. They have certified instructors teaching. They test and certify. Many states will take completion of the course certification and endorse your license without having to take their riding course. You will learn a lot in the course that will save your life on the road. Wish I had it years ago when I started riding because not a darn of us knew anything which is why many of us wrecked. For those who think you don't need it, if you don't know what friction zone or counter steering is, you don't need to be on a motorcycle. Many a rider been mangled in the twities because they didn't know about counter steering. Ride Safe and Ride Often

I cant explain how much less daunting you made this all look. I tried riding a bit yesterday (for the first time ever) so i could have some experience before my states version of MSF next month and it was terrifying, i threw myself into the fire, dumped the clutch, and just couldnt get going. I realized i have a long way to go so i ended up here getting even more beginner research and this has helped give me the confidence and angle of attack to get back on and learn.
Took the class 2 years ago, and the woman that was our teacher was awesome. One thing she told us was if you drag the rear break and rev the engine to around 2500 or so, not too high, you can is the engine as a gyroscope you can keep the bike upright at slow speeds, something experienced riders I know didn’t know about. So if you are thinking about riding take the course it’ll make you more confident and comfortable and in some states is required
Just took this class last week in Georgia. Great class for new or experienced riders and you can get your motorcycle license after completing it
I took msf course. Definitely worth it. They tell you little tips that makes a big difference. Not necessarily something someone would tell you or remember to tell you
The best advice I got from a motorcycle rider when I was first starting out, was this: whenever you overtake a car, think you're completely invisible. Assume they haven't seen you and won't see you.
Driving safely and always trying to plan ahead saved me from getting crushed by a bus switching lanes while I was in the driver's blind spot.
Your videos would have been a great help when I first started out and learned how to drive a motorcycle. Even now, I still find interesting tips.

Just passed the MSF course on 9/13. Even after having been riding for a year already, the course taught me so much. Learned I had a problem with looking at where I want to go rather than where I’m at. Highly recommend everyone take a course, even if you’ve been riding for some time. And if you’ve already passed the BRC, then maybe look into the ARC.
I took the Harley MSF course last year and it was 100% worth the money. It was a great experience and I recommend it to everyone I know that already rides or is looking at riding soon.

I just recommended this video to a friend who was just asking me about these classes the other day. I took my class at the Orlando H-D about 13 years ago. This brings back soo many good memories...like when I rode too close to the chain link fence and broke the bikes clutch lever lol 😂 Glad it was their bike I was using and not mine hehe

Is the exam multiple choice or do you have to write?
This is why drivers education should teach manual transmission as part of your license. Granted it’s an extra thing to worry about along with street signs, cars, breaking distance, motorist mentality and so on, but it teaches young people respect of what they’re driving and how much thought needs to be playing when you ride/drive. The more vehicles are turned automatic and self aware, the more time the driver has to zone out.
Gatta give it to you Block, you may be a die hard Harley boy but you do a ton for safe driving practices and encouragement to get people on two wheels more than some that just show fantasy lifestyles. Your channel was one of the first I started watching when I was trying to learn how to ride. You have a way of covering almost everything with common sense thinking while giving real world examples on new riding mistakes. I’ll have to buy you a beer or a drink of your choice next time I make it to the sunshine state. Good job my man!
The a Harley Davidson “Learn to Ride” program gives so many important details on handling, braking, and just all around rider safety. 11/10 would recommend

Though I have ridden over a hundred thousands miles, it has been a great deal of time since I have ridden. As such, I have never taken this course as it was not available, and as an older guy, I want to feel a bit comfortable with what I was about to go through. I gave the class a shot a while ago, and honestly, I put SO much into the basics, including these videos! However, when it got to the higher-gear shifting, I got a bit sloppy, and eventually flaked. I have NOT been able to rest with that, since. The JOY I got just from riding in lower gears around a course is something that I can’t forget, and that initial burst of SPEED just.. 😭😮💨🙏🏻 even from a small bike, the love was already there.
I still chuckle with dumb-giddiness whenever I hear that sound when I’m out. Now I’ve got a homie that’s in it with me who already rides, and I’m determined to go back and give it my all. Can’t fight the feeling 😂 grateful for these videos dog!!! Been hooked on this channel since 💪🏼👏🏼

I took the msf course in March. Unfortunately didn't pass but going to retake it next year. In the meantime I got my motorcycle permit and getting some experience on the bike and I took the knowledge given at the course and put it to action. Its definitely worth the money especially for new riders like me.

just a suggestion for those who are taking this course, before you get started, STRETCH! I took the MSF today and my hip is feeling it, so take the time to stretch.
One of the many videos I watched prior to my MSF course. Just took it this week and passed it yesterday so this was alot of help. My best advice from my own mistakes was trust the bike to go where you want it. I kept catching myself glancing down at markings and cones even for a split second and it caused me to be unstable or put my foot down. The times I kept my eyes focused through turns and exercises is when I nailed it. It's okay to be nervous. Also wear a light jacked with protection. It will make you feel less scared of dropping the bike and you'll be more confident in each exercise.

Going through the course for your viewers, is pretty Boss-level! Not everyone has the money, or lives in an area, where this course is available. 🤘🏼
I took my course at Seminole with the same instructors in fact lol, great people at Seminole. Despite not liking the time requirements per stage, everyone isn’t a fan of the waiting time so blame the system, you definitely learn a lot. The tips you get from everyone there, most even outside of the class, are invaluable and can/ will save your life when something happens and instincts have to kick in... What’s even better is avoiding those crappy moments where you need to avoid dangerous obstacles by simply understanding positioning when the road conditions change. So instead of being that guy that complains about the time requirements, seems there is always one experienced older fella in the class for this role that kills the mood later on in the day, go into it thinking this class doesn’t teach you how to ride like a pro but how to survive when it’s just you and the bike afterwards... What does it hurt to hear what Harley’s course has to say about riding when the old fella complaining probably just bought a Harley there without having his endorsement yet? The people at that course are awesome to ask the “what if” questions to, your experience there and value you get besides the paperwork to get your endorsement itself is up to you. Trust me, the steps/ process seem basic even for complete beginners at times, but it’s the same stuff that teaches you how to understand the bike’s specific behavior given your actions on it so you have the tools to reach for when things go bad hence why they put emphasis on it. I always look back at that class as a motorcycle survival class.

Hey blockhead, I almost had my endorsement 30years ago-missed it by 1 question. Now at 57 years old, my issue is with counter steering. I didn't have internet then, so, now I know 1 problem I need to work on to get my endorsement. I plan to take continuing education courses to get better as a rider continually. Thanks for being a MAJOR help in my discovery of my weak points on cycling. Doug

Block you could have done this three years ago 😂 😂 For real though one of your earlier learn to ride Vids helped me prepare for the MSF. Friction zone was not foreign when I got there, just put it that way. I knew in the first few hours that riding a motorcycle was gonna change my life!
