You know what I just realized? You are the Bob Ross of boat building. It is so relaxing watching you work. Thank you, Bob, for sharing your inspiring work. It's been a real pleasure to come across your channel.
My Dad used to use a pouncing wheel and a sock full of powder to put the sign on, as the old time sign painters did. Then he would use white paint that he mixed up that was super slow dry, he put something in it. He then could see a perfect sign on the surface before applying the gold. If you apply it to a business door glass, you have to use clear first but on a boat you can use a slow dry white paint under the gold.
Am catching up and really enjoying these videos. The calm and deliberate presentation is very nice and I really enjoy the information being presented. Thank you again.
Just found your channel and I love it, your work is incredible and that is a new and easier method of gilding then I was taught, I like your way much better. Time to binge watch all of your videos
Thanks for the videos, and I agree that they are beautifully produced. At the end of this video we see inside the boat. I hope you are planning to do some videos of the seat and floor installations. They look great.
Hi Steven, This boat is from Chesapeake Light Craft. “Tenderly Dingy “ the other boat Haven 12 1/2 is from the Wooden Boat Store. www.woodenboatstore.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6KeMmZ_y7gIVgD6tBh0r_QBdEAAYASAAEgL6WvD_BwE#
It is a glue designed for gold leaf. Something like this www.michaels.com/product/metal-leaf-adhesive-by-craft-smart-2oz-10658959?michaelsStore=5081&inv=6 Not the brand I use but similar. Thanks for watching!
Some of us prefer the slow aesthetic and long take and seeing process and practices in real time. If you prefer a faster flow you can always speed up playback in your settings. I don't understand your need to impose an aesthetic of the telegraphic and the fast cut on other producers and viewers... Best.
he's a nice guy, and means well...but not a great job, should have left it to "old school" signwriter who would never use a pen to outline or glue to apply the gold !!
You've given me more confidence that I can do gold leafing on a project I've got in mind. Thanks!
What an elegant touch of gold leaf for the transom and you made it look so easy. Thanks for sharing!

Nice job on the gold leafing. The O may look a little rough, but that just lends to the hand-made look of the boat, in my opinion.
