When I first heard this about a decade ago I found it very difficult listening. But I kept coming back to it. I now find it quite pleasing to the ears.
I have this on vinyl, bought it after hearing this track being played in the store. That was about 45 years ago and it still makes me smile. Amazing music.
I went up to stay at my uncles place, back n '74 & brought this album with me. Was supposed to spend a week, I was gone n 4 days, thanks to my beloved Faust! Drove my uncle mad (that's a good thing) he was a drill sergeant in the marines for 20 yrs, I think, he wanted to kill me. Thanks Faust...the best mofo kraut rockers (except 4 NEU)
I wonder what the exec's at Polydor thought when they heard this. They thought they'd scored Germany's equivalent to The Beatles when they signed Faust, and they came up with this(!). Just a fat middle finger right in the face of the clueless record company.
Brilliant stuff , I bought this on transparant vinyl , when you looked ay it going round , it appears to slown down , half way , than this music , with out using any drugs , a cheap way of being in an other very nice state ! Like to mention two other on the top records/cd's for the same experience The Dillinger Escape plan : Calculating Infinity , and TerryRiley in C !!
Welcome to krautrock. According to legend, David Niven attended Damo Suzuki's first gig as singer for Can. As Holger Czukay (the bassist) recalled it, Niven commented: "It was wonderful. I just didn't realise it was music."
This my first time listening to this very surreal piece of music. I have to say on first listening to it throughout I found it uneasy to listen to. It's spooky and kind of boring but perhaps if I listen to it a few more times it may grow on me I don't know. For now I've given this the thumbs down 👇
why is modern art so terrible? What has this got to do with carrots? Or music for that matter? It's unpleasantly assaulting the ears with random jarring and harsh sounds. It sounds both out of tune and out of time too. I feel silly even having to point out why it's bad but these comments are all pretending it's good.
Goose bumps. Bought the clear vinyl album when I was 14. I'm 65 now and I congratulate my younger self. I was so right !
You were right, we were right my friend
Also 65. Bought Faust Tapes when I was 14 (1973), but didn't get this LP until a few years later. Now I have loads of theirs. Love Faust!

iMAGINE THIS..... i had one copy of the first 500 that were released and my "friend" stole it and sold for one gm of heroin!
Back when record stores would play Faust, you think people would be more cool with stuff like that nowadays
Bought this when it came out nearly half a century ago, there’s still nothing else like it.
In my opinion this is the best "song" in the entire history of rock music.
Can you explain why
scaruffi drone
@Olaf close to the edge has fucking Siberian Khatru on it, it's definitely NOT the best
@@duckface524 But Siberian Khatru is a good song. What's wrong?
This is an amazing piece, but Miss Fortune for me it's the band's best.
Had the clear recommended records reissue Brilliant music
Touched me the first time I heard it. That would be 80’s. Big smile.. still. Some music lasts
