Early 70s Bowie like Aladdin Sane and Ziggy Stardust was really his best work. 76-79 Bowie was like 6 or 7 years behind what bands like this were doing and CAN,NEU!,and Amon Düül ii did it imo a lot better. That's not a slander on Bowie by any means or similar artists like Early Brian Eno,Cockney Rebel,Beebop Deluxe,or T.Rex because I enjoy all of those artists quite a bit,it is my honest opinion though. The only British Band who really got Krautrock right was Hawkwind to me and they really did do it justice.
Yes ! Faust is another band I missed. I will try soon. Thanks. I loved Agitation Free and i was glad to find recently my favourite title "In the silence of the morning sun" ! Saw Amon Düll too, in 1974 !
That might be the case, but I'd say Robert Fripp's guitar on heroes/ influence of Prog-rock and the Canterbury sound is not that far away from Krautrock.
The guitar in Poptones is lifted and adapted from the opening of Starship Trooper by Yes. The influences are legion, despite the prog-hating propaganda of the times, which had as much to do with certain music journalists as anything.
"The homeless drummer moved into the house of Florian's parents, Florian leaving shortly after, but Klaus was kept on as a lodger. Here he met Anita Heedman. Is this really Negativland because they really don’t sound like this anymore and I’m trying to encourage them to become what they used to be or even better because they are friends of mine. I’ve been on the records.
Boring? You really said Radiohead is boring? Just take a break and listen to one of their songs that has clearly a Krautrock influence and I bet you will realize how great Radiohead is: check out Ful Stop - A moon Shaped Pool...
I listened to Ful Stop and it's nothing new. As usual they cover up their empty sound with murmur and as usual Thom Yorke's vocals are annoying. Radiohead is not for me.
Absolutely fucking insane that this music is over 50 years old. Krautrock comes from another universe entirely where time doesn't even exist.
This particular track anticipated punk, post-punk, industrial, darkwave and much more. Great respect.
and it was released in '72. It seems unreal.
Agree on the post-punk, industrial, darkwave part... Punk was coming a little earlier. But Massive Respect! is part of history, no doubt!

It's like Negativland with a sequencer.
AND Joy Division-Exercise 1 from Still circa 1980-but this IS years b4!!
Peter Hook had to have this album on repeat as a teenager.
Even in 2020, we're still surprised by how fresh this sounds. Think about that.
Plenty of other things that were in the short term more popular have aged much poorer.

I got this record around 1975. I had big speakers with 12 inch Woofers and a K+H ES20 amp.

@Dylan LadnerQuestion: How old must I be min. NOW?
This track to me is divided in three parts: Bowie 1976-1979; noise-rock; post-punk. The then-next ten years of music, astonishing
Why explain this with something born form this?
Early 70s Bowie like Aladdin Sane and Ziggy Stardust was really his best work. 76-79 Bowie was like 6 or 7 years behind what bands like this were doing and CAN,NEU!,and Amon Düül ii did it imo a lot better. When you haven't listen to NEU! for a while. Then you listen to it and just....holy fuck is thia great music.
I missed Neu! in he seventies, though I was listening to a lot of german music. And it's a pity because they are definitively the best !
Could argue that, but I like Faust better personally. They were experimental without being too repetitive or atonal.

I believe Keith and John have both cited Krautrock as their favourite genre - John got his singing style from the song Archangel Thunderbird
