It's a lot of fun to watch you work on the Hearse. You are very talented and well supported by your wife as she seems to enjoy the progress as much as you do. I look forward to your next adventure. Mark
Well, I’m glad I’m living somebody’s dream. I think every person should spend time teaching what they know to somebody else as well as learning from somebody who knows more.
When you were lifting the hearse to put the wooden blocks under I was really afraid for you… but I figured if you posted the video then you survived! 😅😅😅😅😅
Ha! I guess that’s true. I’m not looking forward to bringing it down. I used to have a body jack that would lift the whole front of the car. I might need to find another
Very cool video!! Hey, no chasing parts when you've got a computer, a plasma cutter and plenty of bench stock. Oh yeah, knowledge and competency has something to do with it, too. Press on. That car will be way better than when it came from the factory.
I jacked a car when I was younger the same way and the brick I was using cracked in half . Fortunately I got the car back down. And went and changed my pants afterwards lol. She's coming together nicely. Love your work man. 👍 👍👌
I still think a chopping the top 4 inches would be wonderful. Ha ha! I saw a 50's Chevy flower car listed online, in New Mexico or Texas. Would make a great his and hers combo. Thank for the show!
I always enjoy seeing a video from you in my mailbox... Sad to see your 40 go, but you'll be cruising around in the magic bus soon.. Thx for bringing us along.. Good luck with the house hunting...
I'm glad you finally got the shaft LOL. Good video on the angles i still don't understand. I see the safety gear is on par. Can't wait to see the next hot rod. Thanx
Great project. Quite a bit of different in depth specialty skill sets are required for how you are transforming the hearse. You also have an impressive collection of high tech tools. Immensely enjoying watching the progress.
I always thought The trans to rear diff needed 3 degrees difference in them to prevent vibration. the offset in the rear dif. may take care of that though. Oh and it looks like the wife is stepping up the game gettin things done.
Many years ago I watched a smart a-s use a floor jack on his prized old Buick, it came off the jack, the lift mechanism went up thru the radiator, drained it quick. The wheels on the jack didn’t roll and the car’s emergency brake held real good. I had to leave or I would have laughed myself till I passed out.
Oh man, what a shock ending! It was quite painful to see your '40 on a trailer...such a nice car. None of my biz, but if it was to help finance Mabel, I suppose in the long run, it's worth it. You've already got quite a chunk of change in Mabel already and not knowing your ultimate end goal, she will be on a higher level when completed to be sure (if there's any solace in that statement). Certainly a great rolling ad for your business, but I'd still be crying under my breath seeing the '40 rolling away. When the wife and I were moving to TX, I decided to sell off my '37 Buick Opera Coupe, 1908 Reo 1 cyl. and a pristine survivor '65 Corvair Convert. It hurt. But onward and upward I guess, knowing that Mabel will be the star among stars. Finding a '50 S&S Caddy ain't easy... Take care to you and the Mrs.
Honestly I change cars about every two years. I never get to attached to them. But yes some of it is the fund the hearse and some of I was just board. To me, the hobby is the build and not necessarily the car itself. I’ve already bought a new project for myself, which will be my daily driver. I also have a few on the back burner.
Looks awesome, l'd just say that all the frame torsion goes through the centre of the x, and it might be a good idea to box the legs and weld in your plate to make it super rigid which will stop stress cracks forming on long trips with repeat torsional twist cycling. Not trying to be a smart ass just like to see you both safe. The guy that bought your 40 is getting a beautiful car. Greetings from Australia.
You sold the 40? Shocking! I used to work at Dana Drivetrain in Thorold, Ontario assembling those 3 piece drive shafts for GM and Ford. You got it right! Thanks for the video! See ya next time! Wait , you sold the 40?? Yikes.
Yeah, I have an addiction to new projects for sure. And the funny thing with the 40, it was one of my favorite cars in terms of looking at it. But not necessarily my favorite car to drive.
Sold the bare metal '40 coupe? Wow, can't wait to see what your plan is for a replacement. I was hoping for a quick engine start once the exhaust was complete just to hear the new sound...
Anyone who gets one of your cars are getting a nice car i like that you dont halfass anything. Hate to see the coupe go but i said that about the merc too .
16:10 You dont want it to be too stout either. Its better to twist a drive shaft or U joints than to shred a rear end. Built in failure point by the manufacturers. Same goes for suspension, better to have the suspension bend in a pot hole than the suspension mounts.
Watching you put Mabel up was almost but not quite as exciting as watching a large naked bar girl on a trampoline. Mr. Anderson . As always good engineering delivered in a humourous manner. Sorry to see the 40 go but such is life. Later Man ! 👊😎👍
What I’ve always been told is that you never want a u joint perfectly straight, you want just the slightest bit of angle in it just so the needle bearings can move because if they stay still they have a tendency to wear grooves in the caps….
Да,знакомое чувство когда твоя машина уезжает от тебя навсегда, а ты стоишь с деньгами в руке и грустишь... The x you made on the cross member for covering the shaft , are you going to support it with a collar welded to the crossmember . Just to know if that is strong enough with the cut for the shaft .
Mr. B. Here 🍩☕️👀😎👍 ✏️📓📐🎓. Just got back from Italy & Greece trip . How did you come up with replacement of two pice shaft to a one pice ? ? Love the work you are putting in . ☕️👀😎👍

That will draw up the old pucker string. Awesome video
Yes it will. Thank you
Great work ethic you have !
Originally I wasn’t excited about this project, but has become my favorite now.
I have to admit it was not my first choice for a project either. But my number one customer wanted it. Plus, she knows where I sleep.
I jacked a car when I was younger the same way and the brick I was using cracked in half . Fortunately I got the car back down. And went and changed my pants afterwards lol. She's coming together nicely. Love your work man. 👍 👍👌

Trying not to get burnt out. It’s all the little things that take so long.
I used to have a 1954 truck, this reminds me of, and I remember the drive shaft falling off it one time. Hopefully yours will do better 😀
Yeah let’s hope so. Of course it will be funny
@@Theoldironworkshop I expect you will check the UJs for wear before they fall apart - unlike me - your video reminded me about that.

I seen that one too. Maybe once I move and have some space
Thanks for sharing the process. I would have jumped in and then realized .. " Oh yeah , I think there is something about angles. here "
Yes I think we all learn that the hard way
The precision of the government is scarier than putting that beauty on the cribbing. Great video.

Loving the videos excellent work cheers from the UK
Thank you Cheers.
It's an actual full working chassis now. That's a big step!
Milestones for sure. It should go much faster now.
Yes good sir cribbing is the true safe way to go I have used it many times
I wish I would have made the years ago
I always thought The trans to rear diff needed 3 degrees difference in them to prevent vibration. the offset in the rear dif. may take care of that though. Oh and it looks like the wife is stepping up the game gettin things done.
You need to make one of those 4x4 adapter plates n it's an extendtion post that slides in you Jack
Hmm. I’ll look it up
Hopefully you stumbled across Edna's driveshaft video when you went down the rabbit hole lol

The wheels on the jack didn’t roll and the car’s emergency brake held real good. I had to leave or I would have laughed myself till I passed out.
I was at work one day and a customer tried to jack up his car, he put it under the floor board and punched a hole through it. Whoops
Where you been! Ha ha Great video

Yes, I heard the same thing as well. But I figure torque of the engine should take care of most of that. I mean, we are off by 2/10 of a degree.

I’m gonna mount the gas tank and build the floors this week is my goal anyway. Also doing a lot of prep for interior stuff.
