    • @thekillerprawn
      @thekillerprawn 8 месяцев назад +37

      The reason why snyder has gotten to where he has is that when you give him a plot and script that were handled by someone with actual talent he does a good job. Watchmen and 300 being solid examples of this, comic books which he basically copyed page for page. And because of this, studio execs assumed that he knew how to tell a story. They were wrong.

    • @jowi_24seven43
      @jowi_24seven43 8 месяцев назад +1

      I agree, although I liked 300 and Sucker Punch (it was silly, cringe, dark, and weird) because they worked. Rebel moon does not.

    • @shinnyshin7792
      @shinnyshin7792 8 месяцев назад +5

      Would you consider Watchmen a success??? In many conversations, that's the go-to first example to show that Snyder consistently botches adaptations. 300 I liked at the time, but in retrospect...I'm increasingly sure Snyder was being 100% serious and thought he was making high art. He's the only one not in on the joke with that movie
      It does make me really excited for those Ayn Rand adaptations he's been talking about for ages, though. Snyder has the magical talent of completely missing the point of anything he adapts and utterly butchering it and I cannot wait to see that power used for good.

Also why does the film ditch the robot after the start. That robot was probably the best part of the whole movie for me. I think Kora could have just teamed up with that robot and maybe the potential love interest from the village along with the young soldier. For example what was the point of having that general in the party since he doesnt really contribute anything else to the party than an extra person who can use a gun or the guy who is really a prince? With each new Snyder movie it becomes more apparent that the success of 300 was more to do with Frank Miller being producer than Snyder being director. My money is on Miller hand holding Snyder through most of the movie, or at least heavy creative input.

    Alex is awesome, Joe has also gotten way better with his reviews and critique. Most of the stuff on Rotten Tomatoes are bots or paid corporate shills. There are companies that are paid to literally create good ratings on these websites. I love Dune and thought Brian did an alright job, The Machine Crusade and the House novels are great. Frank got a little far out towards the end of the original series but the first 3-4 books are masterpieces.

      @thesixth2330 8 месяцев назад

      much of it is bots, its well documented. Its usually within the first 24-72 hours, so the initial box office is in play. The companies pay for a certain number of ratings/reviews but as time goes on, it's diluted by real users. Now not everything is always perfect and there are many variables. Some movies are so bad/divisive that even high numbers of bots will cope to control averages. I think the 23% is critics only, which obviously can't be bots but are often bought. ;) @@hihihi1q23

    I think visually this movie does have stunning moments but this movie, even though it’s a Part One of Two, still plays it TOO safe tbh. And like knowing Zack, he’s willing to take risks and kill characters whether they’re important or slightly important. But even when they give context on things in-universe, I’m still dumbfounded and confused. Honestly, this movie was okay. It wasn’t that great but there were some visually stunning stuff I genuinely liked. And the gratuitous slow-mo stuff is fine in his other works, but I actually became visually unpleasant watching it in this movie because there are scenes where it’s absolutely unnecessary. Rebel Moon is definitely an IP that has potential for more stories that I am interested in seeing in this world, but with these latest stories, it has the potential of going up but also falling down hard.

    Zack is only thinking about his fanbois whenever he over-uses slow-mo....because his fans' brains cannot process information at normal speeds. They tend to be a bit slower. So he's just a considerate man. Like how Donald Trump uses 4th grade-level language in all his speeches. It's just easier for his base to understand.
