Roy Clark The Great Pretender Live On 1969
Roy Clark The Great Pretender Lyrics
Oh yes, I'm the great pretender
Pretending that I'm doing well
My need is such; I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no one can tell
Oh yes, I'm the great pretender
Adrift in a world of my own
I play the game; but to my real shame
You've left me to dream all alone
Too real is this feeling of make believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal
Oh, yes I'm the great pretender
Just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not; you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around
Too real is this feeling of make believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal
Yes I'm the great pretender
Just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around
People have no idea just how talented Roy Clark was. An absolutely amazing musician.
If they have heard him play, then I'm pretty sure they do😂
❤❤❤
Grew up watchin all the icons when it comes to playing he,s probly the best of the best
With Respect They Are Legends Just Like Roy A True Legend @@PhilCooper-ru2bv
Yes he was 😊.
If Roy Clark were here today and you gave him an instrument you’d just invented, not only could he play it…he’d show you five new chords you didn’t know.
Roy Clark had to be the most underrated entertainer ever! He is jes amazing
Roy Clark was the greatest STRINGED INSTURMENT PLAYER of the 20TH Century.!!!!
I agree. I was lucky enough to see him in person.
Bro.. he made me lmao when he mentioned hesitating playing infront of young guitarists and scarring them for life because of how good Roy was.😂
Roy Clark was legendary! He was as good as the best and better than the rest!!!
🤔 I BELIEVE HE DESERVES A PLACE IN HEAVEN ☰ 😊 very talented 😊 🔝
I am grateful that Roy was in the world when I was a young man. No one like him ever.
Rest In Peace Roy. You were a legendary person that many may try to imitate you but none can beat you.
When outstanding musical talent and a great sense of humor was all you needed. Roy Clark was something else.
This guy, Roy Clark, is the greatest guitar player to ever pick up one. No matter what type of music you like. Roy is THE best.
Talented folks make it look so easy. Roy can goof around with it and make folks laugh til they cry
Amazing musician. His Malaguena on a Martin D35 on The Odd Couple in 1975 was amazing.
I want it played at my wake before my funeral
Yesterday when I was Young is one of the best songs. Roy we love you
Music comes from the heart. Tells all you need to know about Roy…
This man is a legend ,, such talent ❤
😅😮
He was a pure heart...
.. you could tell he really love people and entertaining .......
Another reason why he is loved because he can super funny and cool.
Never heard him do this Medley before. He was an outstanding performer and a wonderful human being.
How can one man have been given all my talent, while I have none. 😂
As a guitar player myself people have absolutely no idea how difficult it is to pretend like you can't play the instrument when you can! Talented man seriously 👏!
Roy was awesome...he could make a yoyo string sing...😁🇦🇺
I betcha Roy was a clown in school - funny 👏🏻😂🤣 R.I.P. 😇🥰‼️
Wow! I remember seeing him on hehaw when I was A kid, what an awesome personality, I’ll have to seek out more from him!!!
I was lucky enough to have seen Roy Clark in concert once. The audience laughed and laughed through the whole thing. And such a gifted musician! That concert just whizzed by and didn't last nearly long enough. 💘
I laughed so hard first time i saw it
A very, very, talented man. And gravely unappreciated nationally. He could stand along side of Chet and Earl, Jerry Reed, and Glen Campbell any day. And they were some of the best.
Absolute legend! Unreal what he could do.
There will never be any one like him again. If it has strings he mastered I and I loved his voice
Talented, funny, doesn't miss a beat. Have never seen this. Classic. Wonderful.
❤In real life this man is delightful.😊
He was the man who inspired me to pick up the guitar
Incredible performance. Roy Clark was truly one of a kind.
The talented Roy Clark.
An amazingly talented man: highly intelligent and personable.
Hrs used to come to the Oklahoma state fair rodeo as entertainment. He had section where he would play all the instruments he could in a single song. It was amazing how talented he was.
Watch his eyes, pure onery love to watch him play and sing. 😊😊❤
No one could duplicate his work!
Back in the seventies a friend of mine went nearly every weekend to a country music festival. He knew I played music (trumpet) and sang for most of my life and he ask me on dat who I thought the best country entertainer was. With little thought I said Roy Clark. He said I never thought of him. Later he told me that he had been asking people he knew at the week end outings the same question. All of who were country musicians. A few would say Roy, but not many until he told them his pick was Clark. After a bit of time they would come back to him and say "you know you're right, I never thought of him". Still to this day many people are in this boat. Roy was the best.
My uncle Delbert could smoke him
There is only one Roy Clarke. The Hee Haw King and more. Buck Trent loved him! Karl
There was only one Roy Clark, a genius.
Roy was amazing the compilations he put together, sometimes I think it an impromptu notion of what might be funny. And then he does Yesterday when I was young, or malagania and your jaw hits the floor cause your brain don’t comprehend what yer eyes just saw. In all ways a great man
An extremely talented man and an underrated guitar player....he's one of the best of all time.
Roy was nothing but a GREAT Guitarist and ANY Instrument playing but a Classic as well.
Does anyone else remember when Roy Clark did a commercial for IGA grocery store?
Eddie Van Halen was asked how it felt to be the greatest guitarist. He said you would have to ask Roy Clark
I Love an honest man!!!
Wow ! He is a Great comedian and guitar player !?!
We all miss Roy Clark!
He was the Larry Bird of music. He talked a lot of smack, but boy could he back it up!
Super cool, thanks.....
A true virtuoso, a musician's musician.
Roy was ahead of this or any other time not only musically, but comedically. Hard to wrap my mind around how much is going on in this…uh….creation….of his.
Hard to know I hadn't heard such comedy from him before even after all the HeeHaw episodes.
For a split second, I heard Eddie Van Halen.
Un véritable phénomène musical ce monsieur.
True. This man was super talented !!!
A roy clark man lived next door to my friend in grand lakes. He looks like him
❤❤great guy
He also did his version of Folsom Prison that is a comedy masterpiece!
Spot on my friend. Mick
Badass.. That Southern Boy is Great……😂😢❤🎉😊
Bro is a str8 legend!! ✌️😁✌️
I wish Bobby Dukes would see this video. That werd be fun.
I saw this performance when it first aired on TV. He was the best!!!
Virtuoso Extraordinaire!!
Fight Me !
Best ever
This guy is totally Hee Haw.
He seemed to have either about six people in the audience or a really tough crowd here.
I really liked Roy Clark's talent and humour. There's a clip on RUclips of him dueting with Glen Campbell and he completely subverts the usual tradition of guests on music shows - when Campbell says "Hey - why don't we do a duet?' he replies "No way, jack!"
Glen Campbell looks somewhat taken aback for a second, then they both laugh uproariously, and off they go into the duet. I love that moment!
I wonder if Roys clowning around was a front to cover depression. He was a truly talented man. I loved watching him on Hee Haw, I thought he didn't get as much time as he should have.
Outstanding!!!
Another great Okie performer! Absolutely one of the best musicians ever!
Don’t that knock your hat in the creek?!
I really miss Roy.
To be honest, most folks ain’t never heard of him. They don’t know what they are missing.
He could also play classical music on a guitar 🎸 one episode of the odd couple he done it beautifully. 😊❤
Absolutely great guitar player
Could do most anything and make it just like an idea come to life right in front of you
Legend
👍🏼 😊
👍🏼 👍🏼
Ioved it
THE GOAT
Chuck Norris just called. He said that Roy Clark is the greatest guitar player ever. So I guess that settles that.
I was in the studio at Sun when he recorded this song and two other songs.
I am talking about Elvis doing " Just Because".
Dig the Pete Townsend windmill arm swing
tooo much yadda yadda yadda whole 2 minutes and more. 4 crying out loud!
I can't hear it. There is no sound.
Oh... Not Roy Clarke the comedy writer (Of Last of the Summer Wine etc)
Has Roy done any impersonations?
I always thought that he was one of the best musicians around but never liked him as a comedian. His comedy never was as funny as he thought it was.
He’s terrible
3 minutes wasted before it was good 😡
Fantastic 🎉
