  • The Govee Curtain Lights can be impressive in the right situation, but with such a large pixel pitch it takes a lot of imagination to recognize the animations.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you for an actual review! Every other video I saw felt like an ad.
    Yours is the only one that mentioned that it is lower than low resolution and that it doesn't work well against a window.
    Unfortunately I have already ordered it but I really appreciate your honesty review. 🙏🏿

    I have a set of these and found worked better for me with a dark background. Currently have them in garden against black painted shed. Looking forward to using them at Halloween and Christmas with themes.

      The reviewer is an idiot. He states they look better with a white background but never tested them with a black background. They actually look much better with a black background. This guy needs to get a new job.

    I bought a set to do a Christmas display. I couldn't be happier unless they had MORE lights. I needed a temporary solution as a renter. And you betcha, I'm getting a second set after Xmas when they'll hopefully go on sale.
    There is a whole community of talented people to download from. You GET what you pay for, simple to hang, simple display. (Bought at Sam's Club for $95 USD)

    Thanks for the down to earth realistic review instead of the typical “this is the best thing ever!” review. Truthfully I see this as a novelty item. Not something I’d put in my living room, but it could be fun in a window for a holiday display, rain clouds on a rainy day, etc. Anyway, nice job on this video.

    I've been interested in these, but I can't pull the trigger on them for the very reason you brought up. There's no good place for them to go in my house. It would stand out too much and look strange in any part of my house.

  • @swervature

    Maybe if they had more lights per strand? It just seems like too much area for so few lights.
    As a kid I used to freak out my neighbors with my Radio Shack strobe light in my bedroom window. Look how far we've come, lol.

    Thank you man! I purchased them on sale for $89.99 and I like them but couldn’t figure out what was missing. The white wall tip was invaluable.

    I would argue that these are best used for holiday decor lights due to their design or a bar room/where ever you listen to music in your house🤷🏻‍♂️😅
    I managed to score myself a set of these for only $60CAD on Facebook marketplace & have yet to set them up because i really have no idea where to put them

    I would probably agree that they might be too distracting for a streamers background, at least how they are portrayed here. However, if you could slow the animation down to the point where it's hard to see each pixel change colour, then I think it'd be fine. I have 2 LED strips in my living room right now, and I just have them cycle through all the colours slowly, and that's probably how I'd use this curtain as well. But that might become boring again. Hm...

    Looks like you have the pixels 4-5cm away from the wall…. I bet if they’re mounted right to the wall the clarity of the images would be better.

      Yeah - this. His setup is making the lights just blur into eachother. Of course he can't make out any of the shapes.

    • @jezziemalvada3840

      So are they too close or too far? What about a window?

  • @moltenpros

    They actually look better with a black backdrop.

  • @Xfacta12482
    @Xfacta12482 Год назад +6

    This has already been mentioned below but keeping the lights away from the wall is totally killing the effect and kinda the whole product for yourself.
    The designs are difficult for you to tell what they are - because each "pixel" (LED in this case) of the pixel grid appears blurred because light from the neighboring LEDs is spilling over into the light from others. If they were on the wall, each light wouldn't be bleeding into the other ones, giving you a much better result. .

    may i ask how you hid the power cable and what you used? how long is the power cable? thank you!

    • @MakeUseOf
      @MakeUseOf  Год назад +1

      It's not hidden - it's just made of clear PVC, so it looks sort of like rest of the strands. You can see it in the far right of this video thumbnail, hanging down in the corner. It's 4m long.
