Tbh I hate Colin Sexton. He's a ball hog and has bad tunnel vision when he drives. Kevin Love had a mental breakdown over Colin, because KLove had the mismatch on Chris Paul and Colin Sexton just dribbled on an iso at the 3 for 20 seconds. Sexton is terrible at point guard and is barely a bench player if he was put to a SG role that ran off screens to catch and shoot
The story of Collin Sexton is quite sad when you think about it. He was putting up 24 PPG, looking elite, and playing really good ball for the Cavs. Then he gets injured and everything does a complete 180. Now he’s demoted to being the third option on the Jazz.
24 PPG because Beilein let that Ball Hog dribble and drive for over half the possession. He also peaked at 3 APG while at the point... I can't stand Colin Sexton.
Kevin Love had a mental breakdown because he'd get mismatches on guards like Chris Paul, posted up; and there's Colin Sexton at the 3 trying to breakdown his defender in the ISO for 20 seconds. Sexton is trash at point and at best, is a 2 guard coming off the bench. The fact that he's a 3rd option on a rebuilding team is GENEROUS for a lack of pro talent Sexton has. He's not gonna be a starter in 3-5 years
Even if Sexton stayed healthy, I’m not sure he would have been the type of player to build a contender around. He reminded me a lot of Monta Ellis in his prime, and we saw how little success teams had with him as their main option, despite how electric he was. Sexton is more suited for a sixth man type of role.
People said the exact same thing about Coby white. I don’t know why everyone thinks a 6’1-6’3 guard has to be a 6th man unless they are putting up 30 ppg and shooting half court shots, it’s kinda aggravating.
@@Austin-l1jits because they typically cant defense and unless they are elite passers, if they are not scoring a ton of points there is no reason for them to be starting.
How about Landry Fields on the Knicks? Had a pretty promising start to his career, and for a season or two at the beginning he was quite a prominent player who looked on his way to being a solid NBA starter. Instead, he completely DISAPPEARED, and it happened really fast.
Fields is a great example but what you’re referring to was over 10 years ago. Andy was talking about current/recent players. You’re definitely right about Fields though.
truly i really did hate it for Colin Sexton, he was really becoming a beast in Cleveland before that injury in 2021-2022, and then the Utah Jazz thing, really hoping he'll be okay again in Utah
@@deecee2174 ok brotha, he still has potential and calling him trash makes you a casual. Injuries just set him back and hasnt had a decent fit in a roster since his first seasons in cleveland.

people dont realize, just cause his number dropped doesnt mean he fell off. He is shooting nearly 50 percent ever since hes on utah. collin sexton and 50% fg use to be no where close to each other
Sexton was literally looking like an up and coming all star and so fast that injury ruined everything for him. It sucks so much seeing he improved every season and averaging over 24ppg in your 3rd season isn’t anything to brush over. Glad he’s still an above average NBA player still.
Andy can you please make a video about Dante Exum, that guy is playing the best basketball of his career and yet i didn't saw anyone talking about him, especially considering the fact that he came back from Europe

As a lifelong Cavs fan, I saw a lot of potential with Colin Sexton, but it was never realized because it was so inconsistent. I wasn’t shocked when he was traded. Even if it’s not long-term, Donovan Mitchell is a big upgrade. At this point, Sexton would be lucky to be an elite sixth man. Garland was a better fit for the Cavs going forward
Just comparing Christian wood and Ben Wallace, 2 undrafted big men. One is great on offense with no defense, and the other amazing on defense with minimal offensive skills. But I'm sure even in todays nba, ben Wallace would still be more impactful than wood
Collin Sexton and TJ Warren are affected by major injury that deride their NBA careers. As for Christian Wood, there is a reason why he wasn't drafted in the first place.
Sexton's numbers looked good on a bad team because he was given the green light. He was a black hole on offense. His role is best suited to being an undersized two-guard coming off the bench. He lacks the vision to be a traditional PG and run your offense. Look at his per 36 numbers and they aren't that different from his Cleveland days. He's playing on the team where he's the 3rd/4th option. He was never going to be your franchise player or even your 2nd reliable option on a championship team.
You should do a video on guys who ended up being just as bad as we thought they would be … for example if a player went top 10 but the general populous thought that he wasn’t that good - he just went top 10 because coaches in the league saw a lot of potential in him

I thought tj had a nice run but I never thought him or Cwood could be an all star but I did think cwood was gonna thrive in dallas with Luka but he’s clearly unmotivated
Sexton has been alright in the last month I mean he’s not an allstar. But he’s still been decent for fantasy purposes that’s really all I care about LOL 😂
Colin sexton was never close to an Allstars, and he never fell off he was just injured. Currently, he is still the same player as before an inefficient small guard that struggled to playmake
TJ Warren’s career is very sad considering he was a very good player for years but on an awful team, then we he finally goes to a good team and gets recognition it all comes crashing down and he quickly gets forgotten again
This year, Sexton is playing great offensively. But when he was with Cleveland, he was not good offensively and a huge negative on the defensive end. He is still only 25, so he could be okay when he gets older but.. just seems like an "okay" piece at best.
I liked Sexton, and I thought Sexton was gonna be the best player for Utah. Now, it's Markkanen. BUT, since Clarkson was injured, Sexton has been starting for the Jazz, and is looking like he's becoming the old self again.
I’m a big Cavs fan, watched all the games post Lebron, and Sexton was never as good as the stats said. He could score definitely from his athleticism, but he had zero court awareness. He is definitely not a point guard skill wise but he is size wise. He was mainly just athletic. Anyone saying otherwise is just incorrect. There was even a bunch of drama amongst the locker room that Sexton thought he was good and the veterans knew he wasn’t
I never really understood the overhype on sexton. Damn good player and the energy is ALWAYS on 10 with him but I never saw anything but that energy. Like he wasn’t a great defender he just jumped around a lot and at least didn’t back down. Same with offense he could go get you a bucket but just the way he does it so bull in a china shop type way of scoring but it worked. But I don’t see that shit working in the playoffs. And because he was always on 10 it means he had a lot of turnovers too
There’s gonna be a lot of guys going from 20+ to mere role players because of the style of play. Almost anybody in the league today can get 20 a game with the right system
TJ warren got hurt at age 27. Age 26 he was approaching a fringe all-star player talent. He might have had 1-2 all-star appearances but to say he would have been a "name" is just living in a delusional land. Players don't get magically better after age 26.
Sexton is the source of my worst NBA take, when he was traded for Donovan I thought Donovan was overrated and with a bigger opportunity Sexton could have been the same if not a better player... Boy was I wrong lol
Why Christian Wood dident get a Bag. 18 PPG 8 or 9 RPG but a -7.2 +/- when he played that season. His not playing due to his defense. I watched him play in Detroit. Yes crazy offensive threat but if your giving up 27 and only scoring 20. Thats not good.
unfortunately Sexton got hurt, then by the time he came back, CAVS became Garland's team. if he can get on a team to be the main guy, he will be a 20+ ppg 4 rpg 6 apg player again. Ideally, if he went to Portland, and they got rid of Scoot. Sexton with Simons, Sharpe, Grant, Aayton??? would be a lot better team.
