Periphery 1 is the best for me. Every song was so different and unique. When I first listened to it back in 2010, I never heard anything like that before.

I fully back you on this for that exact same reason. Icarus Lives was the track that made me dive in.

I got into Periphery searching for Guthrie Govan who is still my favourite guitar player, have a blast came up for him as a guest solo, and now they're probably my favourite band. I'd never heard of them before that, so thanks Guthrie 👍

I respect how positive you are, even on some of the tracks you don't vibe with as much. My opinions differ from yours quite a lot, but I still respect yours, great video :)

I got into them when P3 came out. I'm a fan of the melodic riffs so those tunes always stand out to me.
I'd definitely have III at the top. IV has been my next favorite but there are a few songs I don't jive with so I'd probably put it a tier down as well. P2 would probably be in the same spot you put it or maybe a tier down.
I've listened to all the albums but haven't listened to enough of the others lately. I'm torn on V--a couple songs I love and others I don't like very much. The other albums I can barely remember lol. Time for a binge session!

My biggest difference is P4, that is when I started listening to them and I binged it so incredibly much when it came out. It is easily my favorite album, but I will admit my opinion is definitely biased. I love CHVRCH BVRNVR so much and rock out to it all the time. It was very interesting to hear your opinion of the albums, great video!

oh no P1 is so good. songs like Racecar are still amazing. I love the overall vibe and the vibes of the electronic stuff, and i think Spencer sounds good and raw.

I love P5 mainly because of Wax Wings, Wildfire and Dying Star, but I felt a bit disappointed by the last two songs being 50% synth ambient outros. Felt really excited to see the length of the songs and to then see it was basically over at 6 minutes when there are still 6 left felt like an anti-climax.

    Omega > P2 > P5 > P4 > P1 > Alpha > P3
Omega and P2 are perfect (10/10). P5, P4, and P1 are nearly perfect (9/10). Alpha is awesome but has a few slumps (8/10). P3 is good but missing something (7/10).

P1 was the best of all time. I still have the instrumentals and i still play along with them all the time, nothing was like it at the time.

  • @nicksisti4026

For the longest time it was Juggernaut for me. Since then I’ve migrated to P4! But obviously P2 is when the vision was fully crystallized. And Clear seems to be under-appreciated (Pale Aura is a CLASSIC)

  • @Daniel_Berry

    P1 = 10/10 Periphery. P2, P4, P5 Outstanding. P3 Mid-tier. Alpha/Omega and Clear Decent.
I guess I like Misha's style of writing the most. Buttersnips is such a cleverly written song with how the riffs are structured and work together. The guitar parts on Insomnia, Totla Mad, Zyglrox and Racecar are all incredible and worth learning to play imo, along with Have A Blast and Ji on P2 for example. Musically P1 is just the most interesting/complex/groovy for me and I still listen to it after 13 years. That said, P2, P4 and P5 have some amazing songs/production too

i enjoy myself some shred and tech riffs as the periphery bois can provide, but the two main reasons why i keep coming back to them mainly are:
    1. because of Spencer's absolutely filthy and super heavy-well-made placement of his voice on the arrangements. even on slower songs, his voice goes through you and leave a hole in your soul that absolutely NO OTHER SINGER/SONG can fill. the highest note on Blood Eagle almost got me screaming of anger in amidst of people while P4 played only in my headsets (ahahahahahaha), or the Masamune breakdown, for instance, but i literally lost counts on how much i cried (for real, his singing can evoke really deep emotions on those who listen) hearing Lune or It's Only Smiles. recently, i get some good tears listening to Silhouette, and i love to feel those things that music brings to us - these specifically that only Spencer's voice can bring on releases. aaaaaaand
    2. because of the gorgeous mix/mastering job that they always pursue to do during the process of getting everything together for a new album/song. it's just another level of composition and song crafting that you just can't reach by playing and listening different stuff for a year or two. i'm almost sure that is decades of trial and error translated into every song released. and that's just beautiful to hear.
lately, i've been SO into P5 (besides Silhouette, Everything Is Fine! is such a f**king banger that gets me hyped on releasing anger/tension of autosabotage everytime i listen to it) that words can't even express how much of listening to this release i've done. never been into a band before like i am with Periphery. they are one of the main reasons for me to pursue ways to get and learn seven string guitars and beyond. inspiring as f*ck

My introduction to them was Icarus Lives in 2013 when I was 16. The heaviest music I knew before that was Metallica and Dream Theater as well.. got completely infatuated with them and addicted to P2 immediately after hearing that. Been my favourite band since.

Great list mate. I don't disagree cause it's your list dude but yeah, personally, I'd have definitely put P1 in outstanding or 10/10 like you mention at the end. Cool to see your take though!

I pretty much agreed with everything you said, it's pretty wild (except I would but Juggernaut as best). P3 mix is my favorite, P4 and 5 mix I don't like as much, maybe it's because of the beefier mix like you said? I find those mixes to be a little overbearing at times where as P3 is perfect.

Periphery 1 is top tier for me personally. It's one of the albums that impacted my musical taste in the biggest way, right next to AAL self titled album. What I find funny is i skipped Racecar consistently until a couple years ago, and now is my favorite track from Periphery's entire discography. P1 might not have the best overall mix in their discography, but Misha's writing is my personal favorite, and i feel that Racecar being the masterpiece it is, brings it to top tier for me personally.

P3 is the best, judging by the number of songs on my Periphery playlist, I’m leaning towards not so heavy approach, melodic vocals and scream here and there. I’d say Reptile is the right amount of heaviness I accept, songs like Wildfire is too djenty.

In my opinion Periphery I, for the ideas into it, is the best. You won't find crazy riffs in the other records. Second place, Periphery II and periphery V

Gotta strongly disagree with these ratings. As a Periphery fan since 2012 the music was more creative and fluid on the first 3/4 records. P1, P2, and Juggernaut/Omega were just too groundbreaking to be at the bottom of the list.
