Imagine grainy vintage footage of old muscle cars roaring down the drag strip, set to epic music. It all started as a byproduct of the legendary horsepower wars of the 60s. Then, the Demon name disappeared for over 30 years, only to fail to resurrect itself in 2007. But like its name implies, this fallen angel escaped the inferno once again, bringing some of the most sinister tarmac domination the world has ever seen.

Imagine a Challenger Hellcat: a big supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI delivering 717 hp and 656 lb-ft of torque, hitting a quarter-mile in just over 11 seconds with a top speed of 199 mph. The Hellcat quickly became a road legend, mentioned in over 3,100 hip hop and pop songs. But for the Mopar boys, it wasn’t enough. Enter the Demon: a hellcat on steroids, built to be the fastest quarter-mile production car in existence, capable of lifting its front wheels at launch!
Historical Timeline:
From the 1968 LO23 Dodge Dart HEMI to the Dodge Demon 340 of the early 70s, the Demon name has always stood for raw power and performance. Cancelled due to blasphemous name associations and the oil crisis, the Demon went dark for over 30 years. When it finally reappeared as a concept car in 2007, it was intended to combat the likes of the Mazda Miata and Honda S2000. Yet, it wasn’t until 2018 that the Demon truly returned, redefining muscle cars with 840 hp and a quarter-mile time of 9.65 seconds.
Current Gen Continued:
The Dodge Demon: a satanic masterpiece with a $1 performance crate, factory drag radials, and the largest hood scoop ever. It was the fastest quarter-mile production car until the Demon 170 came along, boasting 1025 hp, 945 lb-ft of torque, and a quarter-mile in 8.91 seconds.
Conclusion:
While the combustion-fueled horsepower battle may be behind us, the legacy of the Dodge Demon remains. Its incredible feats and record-breaking performance have cemented it as a true icon.

Kinda crazy how Dodge had the "Copperhead" and "Demon" concepts along with the Viper. It's like a whole product line never saw the light of day.

A 5.0L Coyote with a 3.0L Whipple supercharger usually gives anything a run for its money. Sometimes you can end out spending less on this setup than buying a Hellcat, too.

@ 4:00mins. The 1968 Hurst Lo23 Hemi wasn't the 425hp street hemi. It had the 12.5:1 CR Race hemi ROUND 600HP IN a 3,200lbs car. It and It's stable Mate the 68' Hurst Hemi Cuda were the Quickest 1/4 mile cars for almost 40yrs. Got an old magazine car test of one running 10.30@130mph on 8 inch wide tires.

Dodge has always pushed it and went wild untill the executives slow there roll since day one! I love that that spirit keeps living on. Its a great successors to the viper in spirit. To much power available to anyone thats willing to pay regardless off skill. Im glad they let these amazing beasts get more powerful and wild knowing the v8s were coming to an end in favor or smaller engines and hybrids. The muscle car era is ending but im happy they pushed this as far as they have. ❤
It didn't brake anywhere near as hard as an ACR, In fact the Demon has worse breaking than the standard Hellcat due to it's smaller brakes.

It's so annoying how many people have to meat suck the hellcat for years on end and complain about how people want this one car. If you have to compare everything to a hellcat or build your car to specifically beat the cat that says a whole lot about how good they are.

Be appreciative you got a cat. All you gotta do now is slightly mod it for a little more power you shouldn't wanna spend tens of thousands more for like 90hp. Could probably get that out of a tighter pulley and bigger injectors and maybe if you need a crankshaft upgrade other than that you'll easily eat up 90 hp off simple mods.
@@toxicity6629 it’s not about the power, it’s about the tech. That 170 has so much tech involved that you can’t replicate with a warranty anyway
@@superphoenix_srt7477 yo be careful what you ask for you want that 170 you aren't going over 156 or so miles an hour like that's your max mph you can't do roll races that is strictly a drag racing car and they built it differently and do not recommend removing the governor. Your car can reach super high speeds that car cannot that's where all the tech went was focusing everything for drag racing
