Losing that 45 is a heartbreaker but that was a sick eat and you got to fight it for a while so it's not the end of the world, plus you hooked it solo that's badass in itself

Fantastic video and an even better job on the Illinois Muskie 🎣 don’t beat yourself up on losing that one. You played it perfectly. I’m still having issues netting while fighting solo on the boat. Once in Indiana I was having a tremendous day 8 fish strikes but only two boated because the fish kept getting snagged in the outside front of the damn net. It’s a huge basket and I think the 9 foot pole was the problem. My last fish was a beefy 44 and the same thing happened and I was going to lose it! Once boatside I dropped pole and net and leaned forward and submerged my head shoulders and arms and cradled it and fell backwards 😂. Was so funny the dnr officer came over to see what happened. (BTW sneaky guy never saw him). Anyways, subscribed and good luck this year 🎣

That last Musky was a good one ! Not only was that net too small, but you also made a very common mistake of trying to net the fish too far out of your reach from your boat ! I have seen this happen from shore, from a pier, and countless times on a boat !!! Because you couldn't reach the fish's head, you ended up getting the lure's hook caught in the net which is what pulled the hook from the fish's mouth ! Musky already have tons of teeth that make it hard for a hook to grab flesh ! Nice Fish Though ! Was this video on Chain-o--Lakes in Illinois ???
You are most definitely correct. I have rewatched that clip so many times to analyze what I did wrong. Also yes this was on the chain
Idk how yal do it with the idiot boaters out there running u over but congrats man. I live 30 minutes from these lakes south on the actual river and I’ll never take my boat there. The river is filled with drunk morons too but not nearly as bad as the lakes. I’m currently in the process of creating more no wake zones and hopefully implementing some anti angler harassment laws within the next couple decades. The amount of times drunk people intentionally running others and I over while fishing is unacceptable
Thanks so much, I agree with you. There isn’t enough awareness out there on those lakes. It’s a great fishery but is made bad with all the boats running around. Hopefully you can get some of those laws passed. Would be awesome to see!
