Great fishing videos! I have a small 16ft boat and want to start fishing outside Chicago harbors, what weather data do you use to determine if it's safe to go out? I want to try out Waukegan harbor first just wondering how do you decide to leave out of the harbor? Thanks!

To be honest with you, the coho run last year wasn’t as good as the one two years ago but hopefully this upcoming fall will have a great return of fish. I have a great feeling some really nice fish will be caught. October is the time when these fish tend to show up but make sure to watch water temps because that is mainly what drives them

Fantastic video and an even better job on the Illinois Muskie 🎣 don’t beat yourself up on losing that one. You played it perfectly. I’m still having issues netting while fighting solo on the boat. Once in Indiana I was having a tremendous day 8 fish strikes but only two boated because the fish kept getting snagged in the outside front of the damn net. It’s a huge basket and I think the 9 foot pole was the problem. My last fish was a beefy 44 and the same thing happened and I was going to lose it! Once boatside I dropped pole and net and leaned forward and submerged my head shoulders and arms and cradled it and fell backwards 😂. Was so funny the dnr officer came over to see what happened. (BTW sneaky guy never saw him). Anyways, subscribed and good luck this year 🎣

I fished Racine for the first time this past September. Bad timing due the hot weather prior to getting there followed by 4 days of high winds. I was fishing in my kayak and stayed inside the harbor area the whole time. The last day I was there I could see that a lot of fish had moved in, but time to go home to southern Indiana. Landed one king on my custom painted crankbait and lost several others over the four days. First time I had ever tried salmon fishing out of my kayak. Won’t be the last

I live on Vancouver Island where the Steelhead are ocean-run and big(10 to 20lbs plus). We often use 15lb leaders and 1/0 or 2/0 hooks which will straighten out before the line breaks, but that rarely happens because we would play the fish with a fairly light touch. You are fishing way more heavy-handed than you need to. IMHO that's why you are losing multiple fish, you are either breaking fish off or tearing hooks out, the latter of which is easy to do with Steelies and Browns because they have fairly soft mouths. Set your drag a little lighter and let the fish run a bit, that's the best part, you will land just about every fish you hook. Just an observation, that's pretty awesome river fishing you have there. If I lived there I'd be doing that for sure. Cheers Bro.

Trout are a hard species to trick, they are a very smart fish. I would say they both have great opportunities to catch fish but Milwaukee does have a better run, or more, of fish each year. More fish = more chances one will bite.
