Nice video! Heard about your channel from your dad who I work with. Hoping to get out there soon. Maybe see you guys on the river some time. Tight lines!
You determine by watching to see if your hook touches bottom. If your float/bobber goes under the water and it isn’t a fish it means you are touching bottom. Adjust until you are just above the bottom of the river
15:50 congrats! I have never seen such a giant brown trout. Is it possible to do sight fishing in your home river? Or, are most of the fish in holes in December or January? I need to learn from your video.
Great video and great fish! I just subscribed…I recently started my own RUclips fishing channel and I really enjoyed your video. Keep up the good work!
If I am going to use my eggs in a week or within a month I will just throw them in a plastic bag and put them in the fridge. For long term storage. I will put them in a plastic bag and wrap them in paper towel and newspaper and put them in the freezer. Make sure there is no air in the bag because you do not want freezer burn.
Hard to say. I believe there will be a skim layer lower down the river by the harbor, but I would still say not enough to ice fish yet. It’s coming though, almost here.
Good job guys!!! Fatty Brown!! We run very similar setups hear in upstate NY on the Lake Ontario Trib's. Super fun but browns like that aren't caught every day. Sometimes but not often. Fish on!
Thank you so much for this comment, that fish I kept I brought home for dinner. I see this happen too many times and I want more anglers to realize what they are doing is wrong. Thanks again for your concern.
Nice big brown Trout those are as big as the lake trout I catch in my boat🐟👍
Thanks, just as fun as pulling them out from depths too!
Awesome video of great catches. Those big browns are amazing!

I normally do fridge because I will be using them in the next few days
Since you fishing from shore how did you determine how deep at set your bobber? Thank you

@@heartlandexploration5393 thank you!
Thanks for including the bait prep, very informative. How do you store the eggs/bait long-term?

@@heartlandexploration5393 Many people use Borax and salt to keep their eggs fresh and firm ! Most bait shops use this method !
Dope video I went up to root river coho season and man did I have a blast!! I’m up there this weekend tight lines bro🤙🏾
Thanks dude, I'll be up there too. Maybe I'll see you!

Thanks so much. I will most likely be out there again. Tight lines!
@@heartlandexploration5393 Do you think the river will ice up much tomorrow with the cold temps overnight?

What do you use for a setup?
From minute 4:30 to 7:20 I explain exactly my setup. If you have any more questions just let me know!
Catching any steelhead yet?
I have not, but I know guys have been. Hopefully more start showing up soon!
@@heartlandexploration5393 awesome hope you land some. If it wasn't for the incoming snow I might have tried to fish this weekend as well
Thanks, I hope so too. The snow will hopefully get them going.
@@heartlandexploration5393 so if you don't mind me asking how's the River now if you've been there again?
I haven’t been there in a couple of weeks. I do believe the harbor in Racine is frozen but I’m not sure about the rest of the river.
I want to make sure when you took the eggs from that female you didn’t just throw the dead fish back

Too much illegal activity on the root
My favorite river but not the best people
Yep of course, all we can do is spread awareness to prevent things like this from happening. Tight lines.

You should try to not handle fish so much and get it bake in the water or keep in the water quicker. Just saying.
Great catch guys! Just subscribed. We have a similar channel if you want to check it out. Thanks!
Thanks a lot! Will check your channel out.
