Great work. I am in the early stages of my 1980 fiat 124 spider rebuild. Just finished Ed priming the bare metal body. Next the axels and steering. You area major reference. Thanks for these videos.
I've found removing the remote shifter portion on the transmission makes installing the motor and transmission assembly much easier, if you lean the whole thing a little back when it's on the engine mounts there's plenty of room to reinstall the shifter thru the access on top.
I could tell you by looking back at the clip, but I believe it was about 30-40 mins from start of drop in to being completely seated. That includes shifter removal and adjustments.
I built up a 1980 Spyder . Weber carbs. 1.8 heads. 1967 distributor. Higher advance. 12 to 1 compression. Headers adjustable cam pulley. 2.5” exhaust. The car was so fast it scared everyone!
You should have taken a can or two of degreaser to that transmission before putting it back in and maybe greased the splines with high pressure grease. Just a bit.
@@GarageTimeTV top looks great, but the waffle casting still looked cruddy. Just hard to tell. Congrats on getting the shifter off in time. Good work on the R&R.
Happy to a part of this!

Wish you had a clock in the background for the time-lapse section on stabbing that in there.

Guibo is the brand flex disc is the name of the product😃. Awesome vid!
Actually it Giubo. Common mistake. Joint in Italian is giunto and the engineer who designed it was Antonio Boschi. The names were combined.
Whats the torque spec for the trans to engine?
Well done,Super helpful! FIAT on,Cheers;)
excited that the pulleys are now in the correct orientation.
I told you I would fix it! Haha! My bad
What engine is that?
It’s the 2L factory engine

I did grease the splines and the trans was actually 100% better than it was when I started believe it or not lol. I used a whole can of gunk cleaner!
