to be fair the steve martin pink panther is not bad. it was a bad remake of this movie but if it didn't have that connection i think it would have been quite abit more fondly remembered. not too mention my favorite scene from any pink panther movie was in that one. "you didn't say stop the car, stop the car, oh please dear god stop the car?"
Yes, I loved the cartoons as a kid, especially Inspector Clouseau. the films are great as well. you mentioned you like the vibe from this movie .... (IF the channel won't record your reactions, they might be worth you watching in your own time. They have similar feels to this. I hope you enjoy them if you do.) 1 "Kellys Heroes" (1970) I'd love to see your reaction to this. (Loads of great actors playing great characters.. "Woof Woof" (iykyk)) 2 James Bond, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". (1969) (David Niven-esque) 3 "One Of Our Dinosaurs Is missing". (1975) (Comedy style) 4 "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines". (1965), Probably wouldn't be worth doing a reaction, but an entertaining film. (Comedy, 60's fashion feeling, gentle story.)
@@clarencewalker3925 Also: "The Hustler" "Lawrence of Arabia" "Tom Jones" "The Birds" "Dr. Strangelove" (also starring Peter Sellers) "A Hard Day's Night" "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" "Bonnie and Clyde" "In the Heat of the Night" "The Graduate" "2001: A Space Odyssey" "Planet of the Apes" "Rosemary's Baby" "Night of the Living Dead" "Once Upon a Time in the West" (also starring Claudia Cardinale) "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"
The Pink Panther movies were most famous for one thing, Peter Sellers' Inspector Clouseau character. He was a side character in this movie, but became the main character moving forward. I hope you check out the sequel 'Shot in the Dark' and 'The Pink Panther Strikes Again' which are comedy classics. Avoid the one with Alan Arkin though, as it wasn't very good.
The cartoon actually started as the title sequence to this movie, and proved so popular that it was spun off as a TV series of it's own. The sequel movies are well worth watching. Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) becomes the main character in those. Peter Sellers was a well-known British comedian of the time who first came to prominence in a surreal radio comedy show called The Goon Show. His fellow Goons Spike Milligan, Harry Seacombe and Michael Bentine all went on to have successful careers, although of very different types. The Goon Show was a major influence on Monty Python. Just as my generation grew up watching the Pythons, so the Pythons grew up listening to the Goons. The nearest thing to The Goon Show you can watch, as opposed ot listen to, is a short film called The Case Of The Mukkinese Battlehorn (1956): highly recommended.
_The Goon Show_ (radio) and _Beyond the Fringe_ (theatre) were probably the 2 biggest influences on the eventual members of Monty Pythonn -- even before they all hooked up at the end of the '60s.
You'll absolutely love Charade (1963) with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. The theme is by Henry Mancini for that movie, too. It's a mystery disguised as a romantic comedy, or vice versa. It'll keep you guessing from beginning to end.
Yes, agree, Charade has the perfect 1963 vibe! And it's a great movie! The dialogue is excellent, and fun! The banter between Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn is just so fast! He is trying to pick her up, but she will have nothing of it. And when he gives up and walks away, she goes "You give up awful easy, don't you? Quitter!" And so it goes on... Lovely movie! It was remade with Mark Wahlberg and Thandie Newton, as The TRUTH About CharLIE. Also quite enjoyable, more mystery and less comedy than the original, but still very much in the same vein. No 1963 vibe though.
Stradivarius violins are typically sold for over $1 million dollars and even more. A fun watch guys. There are many more of the Inspector Jacques Clouseau series. All the versions with Peter Sellers in them are great. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
Hi Hannah & Toy, really pleased this was your actual reaction to this classic comedy film. You got me with that 1/4/24 one, well acted. I had been hoping you would react to this series of films. As many have said, Peter Sellers was a genius of comedy, especially with his different voices & characterizations. He has 2 comedy films where he portrayed several different characters in the same film. The first was (The Mouse That Roared) 1959 & the second was (Dr. Strangelove) 1964, perhaps you will also react to them at some point. Another comedy film with an Actor portraying many characters is (Kind Hearts & Coronets) 1949, starring Alec Guinness, later of Star Wars fame. :)
So glad to see your real reaction to this film, Peter Sellers is a brilliant comedian. 👍 Peter, along with Harry Secombe, Micheal Bentine and the great Spike Milligan were part of a radio show in the UK @ the 50's - 60's called "The Goon Show", abso;utely insane humour with mad characters, Beloved by the British people. RIP to all of them.
Great Premiere! So glad you gave us the real reaction after your April Fools Joke :). I hope you do all the Peter Sellers Pink Panther movies - great classics!
There’s a pretty dark comedy that I think you would appreciate called Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb. That also stars Peter Sellers, playing three different roles!
There are about 4 or 5 Pink Panther movies ( starring Peter Sellers) that are riotously funny! This is the first, then Shot in the Dark, The Return of the Pink Panther, Revenge of the Pink Panther. These are very funny and ALL worth watching! Peter Sellers is a comedic genius. Listen closely to his lines, he puts in clever ad-libs. I loved these movies as a kid but even more as an adult. Peter Sellers is also hilariously wonderful in "The Party", and also "Being Human", and "Dr. Strange Love." All very enjoyable movies.
You skipped The Pink Panther Strikes Again. It goes after Return of the Pink Panther, and is a rare case where the movie starts where the last movie ended, so it's probably best to watch them in order. Strangely, Revenge of the Pink Panther totally ignores the events of Strikes Again.
I'm so happy someone actually reacted to this movie! It's one of my favourites, and I used to watch it every christmas for years and years. One of the great movies of all time.
@@RuntotheMovies Yeah. Too bad the sequels are... not great. This one holds a special place in my heart for sure. Thank you for bringing it into the reactosphere, hopefully other reactors might discover it now.
@@ChiliConCarnage we've always tried to mix in movies that haven't been featured elsewhere before. Unfortunately, it isn't always possible, because these videos don't bring enough revenue to sustain our channel. Making these videos is a lot more labor intensive and expensive than we have ever imagined it being before we started.
Thank you. If the joke had been real, it would have broken my heart. This is the first movie I remember seeing at the drive-in when I was three. Popcorn pajamas, a pillow and a blanket. It was a double feature with "A Shot in the Dark." At three, the animated "Pink Panther," the character's first appearance, made me a fan for life.
Producer's note: we recorded this video a week or two before Christmas. The April Fools' Day joke idea had been on our minds for almost a year and which reaction we put it into was largely a question of what video was being edited at the right time.
Fun Pink Panther Movie Facts: This movie was intended to be a perfect comedy thriller for the great English actor David Niven, with American heart throb Robert Wagner brought in to interest the American audience. However, Peter Sellers incredible performance as Inspector Clouseau, in a minor role, actually led to more Clouseau scenes being added to the movie, which in turn led to 4 sequels starring Peter Sellers.
David Niven, a class act, was an incredibly good sport, giving up the spotlight for Sellers during production. He would have done something similar in 1956, in "Around the World in Eighty Days", when he let the gifted Mexican comedian, Cantinflas, steal the spotlight as the valet to Nivens' character (ruclips.net/video/SWSiZ7mYDP0/видео.html). The "good evening" sequence was a favorite of our dad's. Our family got to know Robert Wagner by way of a tv series where he starred, "It Takes A Thief", where he played a former thief working for law enforcement and using his expertise to help out. True to form, while my sister loved Wagner, my heart went to the man who played his handler, Malachi Throne (I mean, with a name like that...!).
The first sequel is "A Shot in the Dark" from 1964. Here are other really fabulous movies from the 60s: "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," (if you feel ambitious, you can even watch the whole trilogy) "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," "Once Upon a Time in the West," "Psycho," "The Time Machine (1960 version)," "2001: A Space Odyssey" (super-advanced aliens noticed our distant ancestors and helped them),
And if you want an earlier slice of Peter Sellers (Inspector Clouseau) try The Case Of The Mukkinese Battlehorn (1956): only 30 minutes long, but highly recommended.
Let me add "The Great Race". also directed by Blake Edwards "Charade" "How to Steal a Million" "7 Days in May" "The Manchurian Candidate" "The Mouse That Roared" and, of course, "Dr. Strangelove" with Peter Sellers playing three roles.
For a modern movie that deserves an honorable mention try The Man From Uncle (2015). It is based on a 60s TV show and instead of updating it to now like so many other adaptations they just set it in the 60s and the movie simply oozes style.
Great 60’s movies: To Catch a Thief (Cary Grant and Grace Kelly), The Great Escape (Richard Attenborough, Steve McQueen), Dr Strange Love (Peter Sellers, George C Scott).
@@RuntotheMovies right after making “It Takes a Thief”, Grace Kelly became Princess Grace of Monaco. “Charade” is one of the best “who done it” thrillers with a lot of comedic twists in it (Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn), “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” with Paul Newman and Robert Redford is excellent and much more modern than most 60’s flicks. One of the absolute best musicals (not really all that much singing in it) is “My Fair Lady,” with Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn. Based on a real very obnoxious professor of linguistics who was actually the founder of many techniques used in British intelligence. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is one of the best Westerns made. At any rate, if you liked “The Pink Panther,” “A Shot in the Dark” is a good bet
This one movie would kick start 3 cartoon series. The "Pink Panther", "The Inspector" {Clouseau}, and mixed with a bit of "Get Smart" TV series, the "Inspector Gadget" character is basically Clouseau, but without a moustache, and cybog/bionic implants added.
You really, really need to see the Pink Panther sequel "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" because it has the funniest joke in the universe, starting with the line, "Does your dog bite?".
Watch in order. The second pink panther movie is the only one without "pink panther" in the title. It's called "A Shot In The Dark" and it sets up the pattern of the three sequels that follow.
Basically, the 5 movies made in Peter Sellers' lifetime are all worthwhile: "The Pink Panther" "A Shot in the Dark" "The Return of the Pink Panther" "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" "Revenge of the Pink Panther"
Great choice to do this franchise ladies! You are going to love the later ones, things get super funny! Also watch "A Shot in the Dark" which is another Inspector Clouseau movie but outside of the Pink Panther series.
@toy4871 My sister loves it. I liked Yule, in the magnificent seven and weat world, as well as playing the king. He played at the palladium for years, apparently he stayed in character between shows and was a bit of a tyrant, to the point where people would put drawing pins on the floor, because he had bare feet! Bit mean, did he die at the death seen on stage? I can't remember, maybe not. You're great Toy, always take the time to reply, that is lovely 🙂❤️
David Niven (genuine war hero) was supposed to be the star, but Peter Sellers stole the show. Brilliant comedic actor who went on the make the Pink Panther franchise so successful - and still gets quoted (and misquoted) in common conversations today.
1960's James Bond (Sean Connery): "Dr No" (1962) "From Russia With Love" (1963) "Goldfinger" (1964) "Thunderball" (1965) "You Only Live Twice" (1967) "Diamonds Are Forever"(1971)
I’ve seen this movie a dozen times and I’m laughing at the same things again. So glad you two are experiencing this great comedy with these superb actors.🤣
You two probably already figured this out, but in case you haven't yet: The young actor playing George is Robert Wagner, who later played Number 2 in the first "Austin Powers" film.
Great to see you both watching - and enjoying - this classic that started the Pink Panther series! Not enough reactors do these movies. I could tell Hannah especially was getting tense during the hotel bedroom/bathroom farce scenes with characters coming and going (and Clouseau oblivious to the men in the room), because she kept furiously playing with her hair! 🤣 One of my favourite parts of this is near the end, with the chase sequences of the vehicles and the 'zebra', where the local man just calmly watches all the chaos go on around him! 🤣 As others have said, this film is not entirely representative of what the character of Clouseau and the style of his films became, but he was not originally the central character, However, Peter Sellers was such a good actor - straight and comedic - that he stole the show in the scenes he was in, despite the real star at this time being the legendary David Niven as Sir Charles. Later on, Sellers became the lead and the Clouseau character morphed into a more directly comedic one, with less of the pathos in his performance that you see in the extended 'romantic' scenes here (like the farce around the hotel bedroom and bathroom), and different supporting characters. A Shot in the Dark, The Return of the Pink Panther, The Pink Panther Strikes Again and Revenge of the Pink Panther (all directed by Blake Edwards and starring Peter Sellers during his lifetime) are all worth seeing as they are the better films in what is considered the entire Pink Panther series. You should watch at the very least the first two of those! Later films in the series - made after Sellers' death in 1982 and using footage of him posthumously inserted into the story - are nowhere near as good. And don't even bother with the so-called "reboot" you mentioned at the start - Steve Martin as Clouseau is a travesty and an insult to the memory of Sellers who was a far superior performer!
Guys. Please watch "A Shot in the Dark." This sequel dealt more directly with Peter Sellers (Clouseau) and featured his beleaguered boss, Inspector Dreyfus, played brilliantly by Herbert Lom. Another hilarious addition was Clouseau's butler, Cato. I think this film is funnier.
Stradivarius Violins are on average about 8 to 20 million U.S. dollars. The Messiah violin by Antonio Stradivarius is estimated to have a worth of $20 million and ranks among the most expensive violins in the world. Made in 1716, this historic instrument remains incredibly in almost perfect "like new" condition.
There's actually not only sequels, but also a prequel. A Shot In The Dark. That one is hilarious! It was released after this one, even though it was filmed before. Because the movie company was concerned about how that movie turned out, and they didn't think anyone would enjoy seeing the clumsy Inspector Clouseau for a whole movie. So they made him a side character in this movie instead, and he stole the show. So then they released the first movie after all. The nudist camp scene alone is a must see!
Also, there is a movie that has the same director, Blake Edwards, and the same composer, Henry Mancini, that sort of has the same feel to it but not as slapsticky (lol sort of). It's called The Great Race with Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, Natalie Wood, and Peter Falk (who was the grandfather reading the story in The Princess Bride). That one I recommend as well.
Pink Panther Sequel = "A Shot In The Dark" (1964) Other good comedy from the 1960's: "A Funny Thing happened On The Way to the Forum" (1966) "Kelly's heroes" (1970) "Operation Petticoat" (1959) close enough "Paint Your Wagon" (1969) "The Taming of the Shrew" (1967 version) "Donovan's Reef' (1963)
The next movie in the series, A Shot In The Dark, is one of my favorite movies ever. Actually, the next three in this series are comedy gold. The first movie was just the tip of the iceberg.
RTTM, this 1st Pink P film introduces bumbling French police inspector Clouseau, played by the brilliant British actor, Peter Sellers. The rest of the of the films are purely him and GREAT slapstick! When I first saw RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER, I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe! Also check out DR. STRANGELOVE, a doomsday comedy where he plays 3 different characters. The man was a genius and gone too soon.😪
You could watch the first movie in this series called "A Shot in the Dark." I will recomment 2 movies from the 60s: 1) "Goldfinger." The early James Bond movies were very big in the 60s. The first worldwide blockbuster of them was Goldfinger. 2) The biggest comedy of all time (in that it included almost every working comedian of the day) "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World."
Out of all the modern movies you guys have watched, it took a 1963 film to show the word Tweet in the subtitles [4:46] lol Nice that The King & I got a mention! I grew up on musicals, as cheesy as they were, they were also uplifting and often with bigger budgets and better made than people think. I get a little sad watching David Niven now, long story short, my mum had MND (Lou Gehrig's aka ALS) and the British blue thumbs up pin badges and logos linked to the British MND charity were originally a defiant thumbs up gesture Mr Niven gave in a photo at the time he was suffering from the disease. He's a wonderful actor, but I most remember this image of him later in life when the disease had him in it's grasp and how bold he was to make that thumbs up despite it being a horrible disease and impending future. So now whenever I see him, it reminds me of this fact and the drama of the onset of illness. Respect to all those who suffer any disease and the families and friends that attempt to share some of their burdens

The cartoon come from the movie. The opening was so popular (the legend say the public was so enjoy and asked the projectionist to show it a second time) so the animators David DePatie and Friz Freleng decided to create a cartoon.
If you want a really funny 60's movie, let me suggest It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. It has an all star cast of comedians that you might not recognized, though you might recognize The Three Stooges in a 2-3 second cameo. The main star is Spencer Tracy, who was a big name in the 40's & 50's & was married to or dated Katherine Hepburn (they also did a few movies together). Highly recommend it, not only funny but it's also one of my favorite movies 🙂 Toy, If you're having cold feet I can warm them for you 😉🙂
If you want a vibe and even more mad cap, try the original “Casino Royale.” For something just as light but less funny and more romantic: “How to Steal a Million.” A little (a little) less light but amazingly charming is “Charade.” Also, played straight, but sooo glamorous is “To Catch A Thief,” which the Pink Panther is actually a parody of. On the spy thriller side, I recommend “Funeral in Berlin.” Two other good comedies are “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World,” and “The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming.” For black and white dramas, “7 Days in May” and “Failsafe.”
The whole Harry Palmer trilogy ("The Ipcress File," "Funeral in Berlin," and "Billion-Dollar Brain") is slept on far too much. He's like a grittier, less stylized James Bond.
Great movie! Claudia Cardinale! My boyhood crush! My Aunt had this album and when we would spend the summer with my grandparents in Corpus in the 60s, we played it over and over so much so I think I could hear it now and know each song coming up next! Thanks Y’all!
I love your reactions. I mentioned it on your holy grail reaction and I say it again. I’m only 5 mins in and you’re so tuned in. Tuned into the movie. The comedy. The characters. The different time periods. It’s awesome. There are tons of really great movies from the sixties. Way better than today’s trash. IMO lol. Always look super forward to anytime you get to a classic Keep up the great work ❤
I'm 54, My mom took me to every movie. We saw a couple Pink Panther movies and had a great time. "Curse of the Pink Panther with Ted Wass." Twenty minutes in she looked at me and said let's get the out of here. She knew that movie sucked.
If you want some suggestions on older movies, you should watch “A Shot in the Dark” which was the next one, followed by “Return of the Pink Panther” and The Pink Panther Strikes again”. They get better and better actually. They’re hilarious!
Cool Fact: Blake Edwards is the husband of Julie Andrews ( Mary Poppins ). Please continue the series. I can't wait until you meet Kato. I highly suggest " The Party " with Peter Sellers and Claudia Cardinal.
Peter Sellers... arguably the greatest actor who ever lived except Lon Chaney. Bot were similar in that, they had to make multiple characters and movements and body language, to do their acts. Sellers had to start in radio, so he came up with dozens of characters and voices. And once he started doing movies he continued, but now used also, costumes and makeup. Just absolutely brilliant. And his ability to play, so inept, is amazing!
There are a few Peter Sellers Pink Panther films. They actually get funnier along the way. You should definitely watch them all. Just avoid the modern remake.
Hell yes, please continue the series. No one on YT (that I'm aware of, anyway) has dove very deep into this series. I'd love to finally see someone do so.
Thanks for watching with us! We'll see what happens. So far, very few people are watching this video, do it may not be feasible to continue unless someone orders a reaction through Reactr. Hopefully, the views for this reaction will pick up with time.
@@RuntotheMovies Yes, unfortunately, for most people these days, if it's from before they were born, they just don't give a damn -- even if it's better than a lot of crap coming out these days (for the record, it predates my birth as well). 😔 I'd recommend also possibly checking out some Laurel & Hardy movies, given that they were a great influence on Sellers' shtick.
You picked a really good series to start. These films have a very unique flavor, and you'll never see films like this again. The next one is pretty important, since it sets up some characters and a basic structure, that the other sequels will follow. As for the Princess, it might be a little hard to determine her reasons, but I think her motives are as simple as she liked Charles, and she didn't really know the inspector. It's a bit of a shame, as she seemed more sophisticated, but in the end seemed to be vulnerable to a handsome face. It's good to see you guys vibe-ing with these older films. The first ones were before my time, but they definitely had an impact on my time. In spite of having a lot of slapstick, they are also pretty intelligently done, unlike the ones from the 2000's, which are a purée made from low hanging fruit. What is REALLY odd, is that the latest ones have aged worse than the older ones, and if you elect to see them, you will know what I mean. You should be prepared to cringe.
These movies are hilarious. Peter Sellers sells the roll. The one with Steve Martin isn't that bad & there are 2 with him. 1960s movies, Planet of the Apes & To Kill a Mockingbird are 2 worth seeing. Any of the Elvis movies. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
I think the modern one you mention at the start is with Steve Martin. I've seen bits, but his attempt at a French accent is so bad!!! In the sequels, Clouseau has a manservant called Kato played by Bert Kwouk. They keep getting into hilarious fights. The joke with Clouseau was he was such a klutz, it's a type of comedy called slapstick.
Haha, thank god for take 2. I did think I could watch Toy, watch paint dry, turns out I could but only for 30 mins. This is funny, but the series of movies gets funnier. Here we go 🙂🇬🇧❤️
Capucine (Madame Clouseau) was a French supermodel turned actress. She starred in another Screwball comedy shot in Paris called WHAT'S NEW, PUSSYCAT?(1965). The sequel to Pink Panther is A SHOT IN THE DARK (1964), which is even funnier, as Inspector Clouseau comes into his own and is the main character. THE RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER (1975) is pee-your-pants Hilarious! Peter Sellers also stars as the title character to another heist comedy filmed in Italy in AFTER THE FOX (1966), co-starring Victor Mature and Brit Ekland. One of the great international heist comedies, and actually inspired the tv series Mission Impossible (which inspired the films) was TOPKAPI (1964), with Peter Ustinov, Melina Mercouri and Maximillian Schell. I recommend all five of those films - as they are true classics, and 4 out of 5 are mid-sixties.
Did you know Dodge (the car company) made a paint color for the 1970 Dodge Challenger called Panther Pink? I believe it was also on the Plymouth 'Cuda 440 as well
If you want old movies I recommend "Leave her to heaven, 1945". My grandmother said Gene Tierney's character is the most evil woman of the history of cinema. 🤣🤣🤣
@MyBuggalugga Antonio Stradivari made them in the late 1600s and early 1700s and they still hold perfect pitch even though they are over 300 years old. 😀
this is a rarity in that in this case the sequel (there was about 6 of them) - the first sequel "a shot in the dark" (1964) is funnier than the original. there's a lot great films from the 60s. great comedies include "bedazzled" (1967), "the graduate" (1967), "the producers" (1968) and "a funny thing happened on the way to the forum" (1966, a musical comedy). a great drama is "midnight cowboy" (1969, the only x-rated film to win the best picture oscar. it can be shown on tv today with little editing). and "bonnie and clyde" (1967, it brought the gangster film into the modern era). these are just a few. the 60s was loaded with great ww2 films, westerns, spy films, sci-fi films and more! thanks for the video.
@@RuntotheMovies ... you're welcome. you'll notice i listed several 1967 films. 1967 was a great year for american films (and music). i just want to add another must see film from 1967 - "cool hand luke." oh and "butch cassidy and the sundance kid" (a 1969 western). both starring paul newman. so many great films and so little time. the movies i listed REALLY ARE must see films for any movie aficionado. okay, i'm done now.

Although the Goons were a radio show, they filmed "The Last Goon Show Of All" and it is worthy of a watch.
Doesn't he become a lot more French-sounding in the sequels?
Also, anything with Cary Grant! My top picks would be "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "The Philadelphia Story" and "His Girl Friday".
Stradivarius violins are typically sold for over $1 million dollars and even more.
A fun watch guys. There are many more of the Inspector Jacques Clouseau series. All the versions with Peter Sellers in them are great.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
Be safe as wet! Thanks so much for watching with us!
@@RuntotheMovies Glad I tuned in.
There probably has been more "Stradivarius " violins destroyed in movies than actually existed, lol.
A great Peter Sellers movie is "The Party".
The Party is brilliant
Sounds fun!!!😄😄😁😁❤❤
"Birdy num nums"
Yes! An often overlooked gem!
Hahaha birdy num num
The car chase is one of cinema's finest comedic bits. I crack up Every time !!!
I loved your enthusiasm during this watch. I really hope you do the follow up, A Shot In The Dark, it is waaaay more hilarious 😂
@MyBuggalugga Nice!
Sellers' The Party is also hilarious.
It's the best of the franchise, IMO.
@@chefskiss6179 The Party is like the best comedy ever put to film 😆👍
@@JulioLeonFandinho Excuse me but does that include television?
😂😂😂
So glad to see your real reaction to this film, Peter Sellers is a brilliant comedian. 👍
Peter, along with Harry Secombe, Micheal Bentine and the great Spike Milligan were part of a radio show in the UK @ the 50's - 60's called "The Goon Show", abso;utely insane humour with mad characters, Beloved by the British people. RIP to all of them.
Great Premiere! So glad you gave us the real reaction after your April Fools Joke :). I hope you do all the Peter Sellers Pink Panther movies - great classics!
I love these movies. I saw them when I was very young ♥ They are so silly, but in a wholesome way! Loved your reaction!
Thanks so much for watching with us!
Thank you so much! I love movies like this for that reason. I can't wait to see the others 😊😊❤
There’s a pretty dark comedy that I think you would appreciate called Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb. That also stars Peter Sellers, playing three different roles!
Watch "A shot in the dark" absolutely brilliant
Yes, written by Exorcist author, weirdly enough.
U said beump! 😂
Thanks so much for watching and for the recommendations!
I think you mean "Being There" rather than "Being Human".
@@002DrEvil good catch. Yes, that is correct. My aged memory fails me sometimes. 😂
You skipped The Pink Panther Strikes Again. It goes after Return of the Pink Panther, and is a rare case where the movie starts where the last movie ended, so it's probably best to watch them in order. Strangely, Revenge of the Pink Panther totally ignores the events of Strikes Again.
Peter Sellers once did a sketch where he read the lyrics to a beatles song in the style of Shakespeare. It was genius
Nice!!😍 I wanna check that out! Hopefully I can find it 😊❤
I'm so happy someone actually reacted to this movie! It's one of my favourites, and I used to watch it every christmas for years and years. One of the great movies of all time.
Producer's note: I'm really glad the girls got to watch it. I've been wanting them to see it ever since we first started making these videos.
@@ChiliConCarnage well I'd argue that A shot in the dark is a great sequel to this as well as Return of the Pink Panther.
@@thegladve I respect that opinion, but for me subjectively, Peter Sellers is the weakest point of the Pink Panther.
Great to see a reaction to these old movies. I can recommend a hundred or so from between 1930 and 1960, Hollywood's golden age.
The Italian Job (1969).

That hotel room scene in the middle has to be one of the greatest pieces of movie ever!
😍😍
Yes the movies get better when they feature Peter Sellers in the starring role.
And Sellers was only brought in when Peter Ustinov turned it down.
The Party is a great comedy from roughly this era.
The first sequel is "A Shot in the Dark" from 1964.
Here are other really fabulous movies from the 60s:
"The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," (if you feel ambitious, you can even watch the whole trilogy)
"The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance,"
"Once Upon a Time in the West,"
"Psycho,"
"The Time Machine (1960 version),"
"2001: A Space Odyssey" (super-advanced aliens noticed our distant ancestors and helped them),
And if you want an earlier slice of Peter Sellers (Inspector Clouseau) try The Case Of The Mukkinese Battlehorn (1956): only 30 minutes long, but highly recommended.
Let me add "The Great Race". also directed by Blake Edwards
"Charade"
"How to Steal a Million"
"7 Days in May"
"The Manchurian Candidate"
"The Mouse That Roared"
and, of course, "Dr. Strangelove" with Peter Sellers playing three roles.
Yes Please.
For a modern movie that deserves an honorable mention try The Man From Uncle (2015). It is based on a 60s TV show and instead of updating it to now like so many other adaptations they just set it in the 60s and the movie simply oozes style.
A Shot in the Dark is awesome and it's the only Non-Pink Panther, Pink Panther movie.
Great 60’s movies: To Catch a Thief (Cary Grant and Grace Kelly), The Great Escape (Richard Attenborough, Steve McQueen), Dr Strange Love (Peter Sellers, George C Scott).
Thanks for the recommendations!
Music score for this movie: Henry Mancini...magnificent.
All of the old pink panthers with Peter sellers are great pink panther strikes again is my favorite.
Return of the Pink Panther and Pink Panther Strikes Again are the best!
Watch in order. The second pink panther movie is the only one without "pink panther" in the title. It's called "A Shot In The Dark" and it sets up the pattern of the three sequels that follow.
Basically, the 5 movies made in Peter Sellers' lifetime are all worthwhile:
"The Pink Panther"
"A Shot in the Dark"
"The Return of the Pink Panther"
"The Pink Panther Strikes Again"
"Revenge of the Pink Panther"
inspector Clouseau: yes yes yes I know that I know that! hahahaha you guys gotta watch the rest of the movies XS it's even funnier
"To Catch a Thief" is also a great movie from this era.😊
Great choice to do this franchise ladies! You are going to love the later ones, things get super funny!
Also watch "A Shot in the Dark" which is another Inspector Clouseau movie but outside of the Pink Panther series.
Thanks for watching with us and for the recommendation!
One of the funniests movies ever. Also starring Peter Sellers. The Party.
It wouldn’t be a 60’s movie without a completely superfluous musical number!
I saw the King and I, at the London palladium with Yule Brenner when I was a child. Excellent 🏴🙂
😊❤❤❤ i love it
@toy4871 My sister loves it.
They both had a wild night together, they didn't sleep at all😁
David Niven (genuine war hero) was supposed to be the star, but Peter Sellers stole the show. Brilliant comedic actor who went on the make the Pink Panther franchise so successful - and still gets quoted (and misquoted) in common conversations today.
Finally I get to watch toy and hear her laugh..😉😊
😊😊😊❤
Another even funnier movie is the Return of the Pink Panther , The revenge of the Pink Panther and The Party !
I love this so I must see! 😊😊❤
1960's James Bond (Sean Connery):
"Dr No" (1962)
"From Russia With Love" (1963)
"Goldfinger" (1964)
"Thunderball" (1965)
"You Only Live Twice" (1967)
"Diamonds Are Forever"(1971)
I’ve seen this movie a dozen times and I’m laughing at the same things again. So glad you two are experiencing this great comedy with these superb actors.🤣
You two probably already figured this out, but in case you haven't yet: The young actor playing George is Robert Wagner, who later played Number 2 in the first "Austin Powers" film.
Holy cow!!! No I didn't catch that! Thank you!!!😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Also in 2,5 men
Great to see you both watching - and enjoying - this classic that started the Pink Panther series! 🤣
As others have said, this film is not entirely representative of what the character of Clouseau and the style of his films became, but he was not originally the central character, However, Peter Sellers was such a good actor - straight and comedic - that he stole the show in the scenes he was in, despite the real star at this time being the legendary David Niven as Sir Charles.
THE THEME SONG ALONE is worth the price of admissio9n for this film ;)
Love the theme song! I've heard it all my life and have never seen the films. I'm so glad I finally saw one and am dying to see the rest 😊😊❤
Holy cow! 😲😲😲❤️
Please DO NOT miss The Return of the Pink Panther (1975). It is a showcase of Peter Sellers' (Inspector Clouseau) brilliant comedy!
Oh I can't wait to see them all! 😊😊😊❤❤ thank you
Unlike other films these actually get funnier when you get to the third, fourth, and fifth
Nice!!!! I'd love to see them!😊😊😊❤
Sixties movies to watch:

Tom Jones (1963) Oscar winner
Two For the Road (1967) Best screenplay Oscar
Also, there is a movie that has the same director, Blake Edwards, and the same composer, Henry Mancini, that sort of has the same feel to it but not as slapsticky (lol sort of). It's called The Great Race with Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, Natalie Wood, and Peter Falk (who was the grandfather reading the story in The Princess Bride). That one I recommend as well.

North By Northwest is a great movie with plenty of style.
💫Hope you enjoyed the musical number by Fran Jeffries at 21:33 - it's one of my all time favorites. Essence of early 1960s cool.
You could watch the first movie in this series called "A Shot in the Dark." I will recomment 2 movies from the 60s:
1) "Goldfinger." The early James Bond movies were very big in the 60s. The first worldwide blockbuster of them was Goldfinger.
2) The biggest comedy of all time (in that it included almost every working comedian of the day) "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World."
Out of all the modern movies you guys have watched, it took a 1963 film to show the word Tweet in the subtitles [4:46] lol
Nice that The King & I got a mention!

It has an all star cast of comedians that you might not recognized, though you might recognize The Three Stooges in a 2-3 second cameo. The main star is Spencer Tracy, who was a big name in the 40's & 50's & was married to or dated Katherine Hepburn (they also did a few movies together).

Oh my goodness! Lol. Now I gotta see. Because she says how evil the character is, I'm curious how Hannah would react to her 😂😂😅😅❤
A Stradivarius violin costs between 8 and 20 million dollars. So yeah, it's kind of an important instrument. 😁
Thanks for the recommendations and for watching with us!
