    I loved this coaster and that turn at the river is gorgeous, with air time, you feel that you are going to sail on out into the river.

    When it hit the mod course i literally yelled “why why why.” They need to go back into this ride and raging bull and disable the trims. Clearly these tracks and trains and the writing audience can handle forces that maybe 23 years ago parks and ride engineers weren’t so sure of

    • @garct-7567
      @garct-7567 2 года назад +2

      When it’s cold the trims don’t pop at all which leads me to believe they aren’t stripping too much speed. Although it would always be great for there to be more speed and force, I’m pretty sure that was the practical limit for BM at the time. When built they couldn’t get the train off the chain fast enough so it had to have the stress hump, Later on BM figured out how to just fling the coaster over the top. Apollo’s basically never breaks, is a capacity machine, and is basically universally loved by the gp. I think it is a tribute to the design and engineering that that is true 23 years after opening. It’s sort of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”

    • @kquttersanford3635
      @kquttersanford3635 2 года назад

      Yeah it got it’s new computer so it’s like backwards the first trims doesn’t trim anymore and the second trims well it crawls over airtime hills

      I don’t know anything about rollercoasters can you explain what this means lol

    • @garct-7567
      @garct-7567 2 года назад +4

      @@ilovesquigs The purpose of brakes is to either stop the train completely for either safety or operating purposes (getting people on and off etc.) or to reduce the speed for purposes of rider health and comfort and engineering constraints. Given the forces involved certain elements of the track (sharp turns, steep drops etc) could injure people, be super uncomfortable, or cause mechanical components to break or wear down too quickly.
      This ride has 2 sets of trim brakes (1:19 and 1:52). Trims slow down the trains slightly but they can’t stop the train completely. They are designed to reduce the speed of the train but under variable conditions of train load and temperature, may or may not activate. You can see the tiny platforms and stairs going up to them for maintenance purposes. When they engage you can hear a little pop and hiss as they engage and disengage. Sometime you will just fly through them with little to nothing happening.
      The mid course brake run (1:42) has two functions. First it also reduces speed as needed like the trims. Second, and perhaps more importantly, it creates a point where trains can be completely stopped on the tracks in the event of an emergency. This allows for multiple trains to run on the course at the same time. That way you can have one train rolling freely after the lift hill but before the brake run, and a second train rolling freely after the brake run but before the station. So you can have a train loading at the station and two out on the course. That’s why on busy days Apollo’s basically always has a train rolling out of the station and two lined up to roll in.

      The only two BGW rides that aren’t that much different at night are gryphon and tempesto. Everything else (even grover’s express) are out in the dark. The trees and lack of surrounding development means there isn’t much light pollution. We also have a neighborhood in town that complains about the park being too bright at night, so the lights are pretty much off everywhere. It’s why Halloween and Christmas in the park is so good, it’s spooky dark at halloween and it’s a super dark blank canvas for all the lights at christmas.

    This is not the first hyper coaster. Its the first B&M hyper coaster, The first full circut hyper coaster is Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point. In case you don't know, a hyper coaster is any coaster that is anywhere from 200-299 feet tall.

      @@TeamSexyPaintball Nah, Apollo is anything but lame. Apollo is probably infinitely rideable and the night rides are a 10/10. Sure she's missing the newer elements Orion and Fury 325 have but she's the OG so it's to be expected.
      On the other hand intimidator 305 is a monster of its own but nowhere near as fun as Apollo or twisted timbers for that matter.
