quick tip for anyone wanting to ride this: arrive at the park early and ride this first thing when you get there. i know it's a long walk to the back of the park, but if you know the park layout n stuff, it'll be a walk in the park (pun intended). i rode darkoaster first thing right when i got to the park around opening and it was only a 15min wait. so yeah, just a quick tip to help evade the 2 quadrillion year waits this ride gets most of the time, hope this helps!
We started doing this when we had season passes: we would get there at park opening, and everyone would beeline for their favorite rides first- then work our way back to a meeting point
My dad and I went on this ride after alpenghist and loch Ness monster. This one was the best one I had ridden all day. Would totally go on this one again. We waited for two hours in line. But when we got to the coaster, a lady was nice enough to let's us get on .
The Sea World chain is just so cheap nowadays, all their new additions lack any sort of theming. This just mostly reuses what was already there, slap some standard cars on there and done. Terrible
To be fair I think while you begin inside the castle, the ride is supposed to be all "outdoors".. the flashing of the castle windows during the ride are you seeing the castle from the "outside". But yeah.. the station could have been done differently to make it appear that even though you're inside, you're outside, like on the original when it begins you see the trees right before arriving at the castle which you were inside of all alone which I guess is odd too if you over think it. Which is why on rides, movies, ect. I do not. 🤣
I find it beautiful that it was the fans of DarKastle that kept the demand for a "sequel" alive. If we didn't express our love for the original, the building would have stayed a warehouse or worse; torn down for something less impressive. Busch Gardens would be smart to lean into all this dark lore they've created and have Prince Ludwig a more prominant character.
There seems to be a few more effects than when I rode it on the 11th. Either some weren't working, or maybe I just didn't notice. I definitely didn't see the castle windows on the right, most likely because I rode the left side. So I'm excited to ride again and keep a lookout for more stuff! Just did this ride yesterday. Definitely good for people who are frightened of heights but want to experience a real roller coaster. The video does no justice to just how fast the ride launches you into the dark- you go from gently turning into that dark hallway into IMMEDIATELY feeling like you're going terminal velocity shot straight into hell. For having a theme about ghost hunters, it is kind of forgotten in the ride. You don't 'hunt' ghosts, they just pop out and there is strangely no Ludwig's banter throughout all that? Wonder if they are still working on more effects and/or voiceovers...
I hope they are, I rode it a few hours ago and was sorely disappointed in the lack of Ludwig throughout the ride. A few projections without any voice lines was a huge letdown.
It reminds me of a not as heavily themed Revenge of the Mummy at Universal, but the motorcycle position may make this interesting and give it an edge over The Mummy. Busch does not have nearly the publicity or theming as universal so that makes this ride impressive.
I feel like it’s so much more they could’ve done with theming/scenery.. I get the “dark” aspect.. but it’s just a few spots of effects. It’s honestly way more in the queue than the actual ride experience. They could’ve made it look like you’re going up a staircase, flying out of windows, going down into the basement, outside, dining room, fire place, etc.. pretty disappointing
They did a good job on this coaster, but I wonder why King Ludwig doesn't have lines in his appearance in the queue or in the ride? Even if they couldn't get the original actor or a replacement to voice new lines, they could've recycled lines from the Curse of Darkastle.
@@HollywoodandWine101 That does make sense, but judging from the fact that there is a painting of King Ludwig in the queue, it seems that Bush Gardens still has the rights to the character, so they still could've hired a VA to record new lines if they were unable to make a deal with Falcons Treehouse.
@@adamhandley9482 it’s more the actual footage, sound, and certain iconography. Like the sounds and video. My main concern is that it’s just looks like the ride Verbolten. They should have mixed the 3d ride with the rollercoaster. Something new not the same old thing. It looks fun to ride but also boring to ride again and again overtime.
What was the reason for closing the original slower ride? I never went to the park when it was there. And what was the reason for putting a coaster in it? I would have ridden it in it's old form, but not as this where you are thrust forward fast with LIMs or something, and very little theming and special effects. I only went to the park in August 1984 with my late mom and dad, and my younger brother, my dad passed March 8, 1986 and my mom last June 14 in the hospital because her breathing was bad, and in 1993 and 1997 with the boy scouts. DarKastle didn't open until after 2000 I believe. The park didn't have a traditional type dark ride during my visits, just a motion simulator in the 90's, Escape from Pompeii which is short, and a ghost show in the Globe Theatre. They do have a haunt type event in the fall with special haunted attractions.
It’s a head scratcher for sure. I’ve heard DarKastle had licensed elements in it, and the reason for closing was to stop paying licensing fees. I don’t know for sure though. All Busch Gardens / SeaWorld parks have been adding new rides for the last several years now.
Based on a google search the reason was high maintenance cost and low ride attendants. The second part I don’t get because every time I’ve been there when Darkastle was open there was always a super long line.
Anyone know the best time to ride this, or how the lines are? I'm going here soon and am a bit concerned about this ride's lines, considering it's a new family ride.

@@gissneric yeah DarKastle has been gone for years. This (Koaster) is definitely faster and more intense as far as sharp turns and such. Kastle was a dark ride which focused more on story and theming. I would not say this is tamer in any way.
Would you consider this a family coaster? How tall do you need to be to ride this? My oldest is getting into coasters but is only 46 inches tall so he can’t ride some of the big ones yet but he loved Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood. That is an awesome family coaster. We are going down to Busch Gardens in a week and I was hoping he was tall enough for this and Invader.
DAAAAAANG! They REALLY gutted the old DarKastle ride. I'm getting no vibe of the old ride except Ludwig. What a bummer! For a family coaster, the thrill is there and it looks fun, but in 2023, this is something I would have expected unveiled back in like 2004. I definitely expected MORE theming and storytelling than this; it feels more like an insult to the DarKastle ride rather than paying homage to it. All that being said, though, it's still a fun addition to the park from what I can see, just a "cheap" option, though.
Personally, not one of my favorite rides. It’s incredibly short, and it’s a dark room with spooky glowing props. I wish there was more like the ride that came before it. Not terrible, but definitely not my favorite
The ride itself looks fun but the que just looks plain bad to me its basically just a bunch of junk on generic wooden shelf with a living picture with wires clearly going to it. Is this on technical rehearsals or is it the finished product
This is the finished theming. Parts of the queue are themed to a ghost hunt, so there is equipment setup for that. You can see some of it lit up when the ghost appears.
It’s definitely not all coming across on video, the Darkoaster is pretty dark but you are able to see more of the effects than in the video. TRON is a faster, taller, and longer ride though, but Darkoaster is still a lot of fun, and they both have the same 48” height requirement so a lot of families can take everyone on them.

This ride scared me
This or Verbolten?
This isn’t as fast as Verbolten, but it has more acceleration sections. I’d go for this.
😮😮😮
i spy a el toro ryan
Anyone know the best time to ride this, or how the lines are? I'm going here soon and am a bit concerned about this ride's lines, considering it's a new family ride.
(3:33 AM, 5/19/2023/2020's)-Sha*den (Shaden Leader); Awesome Video, the Ride itself, I can't wait to ride @ (Virginia) (Beach's) Busch Gardens and Resort for experience and more.!.! God bless.!.! 🙂 😇1 Comment only for each film, including this one. (76-77) Comments in my Life, (75-76) Comments here on RUclips. (3:37 AM, 5/19/2023/2020's)
Video is a little different and doesn’t fully capture the light. It’s not just a blind throttling in darkness. You can see enough to know the tech ahead.
That’s an odd choice of look for a train themed to a dark scary castle. Looks like a jet ski.
Supposed to be a snowmobile, but definitely an interesting choice.
@@sharpproductions I see it now lol.
This feels like a downgrade to me.
Downgrade from 0 is impossible 😅. My kids gave it ten/ten even over Verbolten and Invadr.
BGW hit their target audience.
@@NorthHarborCompany oh so they made it more family friendly that's why... My kids gave Slinky Dog Dash a 10/10 as well and it was just okay for me.
@@gissneric yeah DarKastle has been gone for years. This (Koaster) is definitely faster and more intense as far as sharp turns and such. Kastle was a dark ride which focused more on story and theming. I would not say this is tamer in any way.
It doesn't look exciting
@@adreamalways14 it's a family coaster. 🤣
Why the hell are the ride vehicles snowmobiles??? 🤔
It is perpetually winter 🥶 so we need to use snowmobiles to get around. .
So dark castle is back,?
Darkoaster is in the old Curse of DarKastle building, yes.
@@sharpproductions yes
Is it kinda built like Invadr? Is there no loop de loops or going upside down?
Its not really built like invadr since this is a different type of coaster that uses launches. There are no inversions on this ride
Ludwig the rizzler 5:12
That's a big nope for me! I have to be able to see the tracks if I want what's inside to stay inside.
The video is darker than your eyes can see. On the ride you can see what's happening.
How is the new Datkoster ride
Fun! Only 36mph but it has multiple acceleration sections so it feels faster than a lot of actually fast coasters
@@sharpproductions didn't that use to be a castle 3D there before
I see coaster studios at 1:28
I did ride it
How did you like it?
I wasn’t able to go on it bc of the 105 min wait. 😕
Personally, not one of my favorite rides. It’s incredibly short, and it’s a dark room with spooky glowing props. I wish there was more like the ride that came before it. Not terrible, but definitely not my favorite
So, its verbolten on snowmobiles.
not really 💀
The ride itself looks fun but the que just looks plain bad to me its basically just a bunch of junk on generic wooden shelf with a living picture with wires clearly going to it. Is this on technical rehearsals or is it the finished product
This is the finished theming. Parts of the queue are themed to a ghost hunt, so there is equipment setup for that. You can see some of it lit up when the ghost appears.
Ugh...each time they update a ride it's underwhelming. I especially miss Cork Screw Hill. And I'm really really really gonna miss DarKastle ☹
Have you rode it yet?
I would be riding it if it wasn’t for me living across the world
Why the jetski trains 😂
It doesn’t have rolls or inversions, right?
Right!
If you want to go on this be ready for a 2 hour wait
At least you get some air conditioning at the end there. .
The thing I don’t understand is why are the ride vehicles jet skis?? 😂
Well there must be a moat around the castle that we're riding them through🤔
They're snowmobiles.
Verbolten 2.0
This probably isn't done justice on video. It's a long fast ride in the dark and looks fun - it's too bad Disney couldn't make TRON on this scale.
tron blows this crap away
It’s definitely not all coming across on video, the Darkoaster is pretty dark but you are able to see more of the effects than in the video. TRON is a faster, taller, and longer ride though, but Darkoaster is still a lot of fun, and they both have the same 48” height requirement so a lot of families can take everyone on them.
@@NickyD I meant in terms of ride duration. Also the seats look a bit more comfortable for some people than the Tron bike straddle.
OP is sponsored by Busch Gardens (not Disney obviously)
Man… what a downgrade from DarKastle.
The ride was boring as fuck. At least this is an actual ride not just some shitty simulation
Not really.
@@BuschGardensBecca Nah... even a good indoor coaster replacing a fantastic dark ride is always a downgrade.
