I dont know how long I will stick with my S24 Plus, I've had more android phones than I have iPhones but I do prefer iOS. T-Mobile doesnt make it easy to switch eSIMs between iPhone and android without contacting their customer support.
I tried a whole bunch of Android smartphones this year hoping to find something that would make me switch back to Android, even though I am 100% in the Apple ecosystem (iPhone, Mac mini, iPad). The only one I found that could replace my iPhone is the Pixel 8 Pro. I didn’t encounter the same issues I usually find with Android smartphones. The voice command works perfectly (unlike other Android devices where, for some reason, I can never get the voice command to work on the Gboard keyboard). Additionally, when setting up a new phone, you can have an exact copy of your old Pixel, just like you can with a new iPhone. This isn’t the case with Samsung, etc., where you end up having to put all the apps back into folders yourself, reorganize everything, etc. In the end, I found that the photo and video quality were not as good as on the iPhone, so I kept my iPhone 15 Pro Max and returned the Pixel. However, I’m still looking forward to seeing the Pixel 9 Pro XL. I would be very happy to see Google reclaim its crown as the king of photography. They have the resources and talent; I don’t know what’s missing for them to achieve it. Having a disability, voice command allows me to write very quickly without exhausting myself, so it’s indispensable for me. Additionally, I don’t understand why, when copying data from an old Android smartphone to a new one, you don’t get an exact copy of what you had on the old one. You have to reorganize everything, redo your folders from scratch, etc. This is a basic feature, and Android is advanced enough to have this functionality. I will never understand this.
One area the video does not address is navigation and consistency across apps and gestures. This is the one thing that surprised me going from android to ios. I found the lack of consistency between apps quite jarring on the iphone and this gets in the way of productivity.
The photographic styles on iPhone can be used to tweak the look on the photos. Use the tone slider to make the photos more vibrant or more moody. Unfortunately there's no way to make the photos more colourful by default if you like that Samsung style boosted saturation but fortunately its easy as pie to boost the colours in post by hitting edit, the magic wand and then moving the slider left and right to tweak the image to your liking.
Well done and very objective. I have both phones as well…love them both but I tend to prefer android personally. iPhone is obviously an amazing phone though. Great comparison 👍
I think the pixel now has caught up to the iPhone enough that it’s really a personal choice and if you’re too into either eco system. The real reason why I don’t use pixels anymore is the PWM (pulse width modulation) all pixels since the 4 give me insane headaches where as the iPhone doesn’t. Until Google fixes that I’m staying with the iPhone

The pixel 8 pro photos are always underrated when pitch side by side with that of iPhone 15 pro max. Google destroying Apple in photos, the same way Apple destroys Google in videos.
Alex, I have seen/ read/ enjoyed many of your articles and reviews at various outlets over the decades but I need to call this out. At 10:28 did you forget the iOS update that completely bricked thousands and thousands of users' phones requiring a visit to an Apple store to rectify? (iOS8/ 2014 I think). And a quick search pulls up many more recent threads of iOS updates bricking phones too. (up to 17.4.1 of Nov 2023). While you may never need to use command lines to fix - with Apple being locked you will have to take time off and book a visit to a store instead (assuming you have one close) or send it away as you can't fix it yourself. That comment was just unfair. Same with the comment about lack of polish - possibly less flair/ delight (that Apple does very well) - but I've had few experiences with any Nexus/Pixel phone of things not working. The idea that Android is buggy, beta software has been wrong for over a decade. Plus - Apple has never apologised for nerfing performance on older phones for "battery reasons" that was used to coerce people into the idea that their old, perfectly functional phone was on it's last legs and they should upgrade.
I love the iPhone 15 pro but the camera is awful 😞 couldn't keep it for longer than a week, it kept making people in photos look like stickers. Since I'm not married to any OS I went for the pixel 8 pro and I'm loving every single picture I get out of this phone. The pixel might be under power compared to the iPhone but that's only noticeable if you play mobile games.
the 15 pro camera is not awful.... I have 15 pro and pixel 8 pro. one is not better than the other. in a blind test, there's a 99% chance you wouldn't know which was which. stop the fanboyism already

@@iAfroTech They don't care cause they never experienced proper fast charge in their life🤦 . If a person gets used to 67w or 90w charging for a month , then they'll know how much behind the Samsung/pixel/apple are in terms of charging tech .
Why the fuck would I want 100w fast charging? That's creating a lot of heat within the battery plus you wouldn't need to charge if the battery life was good to begin with
@@MrViper7121 have you ever used a modern fast charging phone? Most fast charging phones has dual cell battery , i.e 2500mah+2500mah instead of single 5000mah cell and each battery charges at 50w (so total 100w) and because of large vapour chambers it will not heat up . The convenience fast charging provides is too good . By the time I have my coffee my phone goes from 20%-85% .

Im about to switch to pixel in couple of days. Can you anyone in the comment share the common issues encountered with the phone?. Although I only use the phone with basic needs and light camera activities (since I work in field). Is it worth it?. Thank you very much
At first I had impression that pixel is more detailed in most scenes, but then noticed weird thing, that nearly all iphone photos are focused in some corner, which made background or foreground objects sharper, but they are far from point of interest which can be easily overlooked.
It's because the newer phones have ltpo, it constantly changes the refresh rate of the display while the camera shooting the display has a fixed refresh rate for capturing, hence the "distortion". Doesn't happen with the eye.
I really like the Google Pixel 8 pro that I am seeing. In the video, the price of the iPhone 15 pro max has only been increased and some of the features are not special. I am using an iPhone which is inferior to the Pixel 8 pro in every way. I will go to the Google Store for the Pixel 8 pro phone, the Google Store has the world's most advanced feature phones
I have been using Pixel 8 pro over 10 days, I probably will return it before the return window closes. Here are my reasons: 1. Photo colors(front camera) are not so accurate as iphone(I also have an iphone se 2, so I bet the new ones should be much better now.) Especially when camera meets red, pink and orange, it always make the color yellowish or too vibrant, it just doesnt get close to the real color. Editing can help but that will change the tone of the photos too. 2. Photo edges get blurred automatically. 3. Selfie camera makes skin tone too pale. 4. I shoot a lot photos and videos for jeweleries, and I usually use plants or other objects as background. The Pixel 8 pro camera can't focus well when camera is moving, it will always get focused on the background instead of jewelries. This happens when I'm using iPhone too, but most of time it gets what I want. I feel like iPhone gets 90% focused, and Pixel 8 pro gets only 50% or less focused. 5.Google Photo is so annoying and other photo apps dont work smoothly. I cant add albums without Google Photos which means I have to backup everything online, and I have to buy space if its over 15G. I downloaded other photo apps like Gallery and few others, none of them run well when I want to view the photos transferred from my old phone( ipone se 2). Those photos are loading one after one every time I wanna view them, it feels like using 90's computer. I still couldt find a way to fix it.
Heavily considering selling my Pixel 8 Pro and getting the 15 Pro Max since they are supposedly making the Pro models larger next year and I am not sure if I want a bigger phone.
I have the 14 pro max ( not much difference between the 14 and 15 imo ) and 8 pro , as always they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Although I’ve been an android boy since 2012 with mostly galaxy notes as my common android phone, for the past 3 years I’ve also joined the dark side , and yeah I have warmed to the big iPhones. Just me but I prefer the iPhone as a carry around, I like the MagSafe and even some of apples apps like notes for example are good to use , the eco system , Apple, updates , apple manages to get updates done all around the world usually in 24 hours , if any android devices even nominate a month they are going to have an update in your doing well, and even then it can be a patchy mess with some countries not getting the updates till days or even weeks later depending on the brand. For happy snaps straight out of the box yeah I think the pixel has a slight edge , but not always . Yesterday I took 4 photos of the underside of my bike which I was modifying with pixel , and the light was poor , I also took 4 photos with my 14 pro max, surprisingly the pixel photos all came out a darkish blurry mess , I took exactly the same care taking the identical photos with my 14 pro max, and the pro max camera took an extra second to adjust the exposure then take the shot. All 4 pics from the iPhone were excellent, all 4 of the pixel pics went in the bin. In the end for general happy snaps on decent light the iPhones and pixels are not bad. Another plus for me on the iPhone is the keyboard , for my biggish mitts , the keyboard on the iPhone seems easier to use , and I think the iphone keyboard also just has a better basic functions. It is a bit luxurious to have 2 galaxy’s a pixel and 2 iPhones if I get board using on or the other 😊, again the 14 pro is my carry around.
I think you’re the first person I have ever seen say that the iPhone keyboard is better for them than Gboard. It’s literally one of the main reasons I’m looking at the pixel nine pro or XL or whatever they’re going to call it.
In my personal experience Pixel produces much darker, shadowy images compared to the iPhone. It's almost as if this review switched the photos of two phones. Not to say iPhone photos are particularly good either.
There's a S24U vs P8P comparison on Toms Hardware, the reviewer chooses photos solely based on which photo is brighter and pretty much nothing else. I preferred the more contrast image the Pixel does in most examples.
Dude, I totally get you, pixel is contrasty but only when it needs to be. It always somehow manages to take a better shot and is more natural than it competitors, I don't know what people are thinking when they say "but iphone photos are more natural". No they aren't 😂
I love both phones The Pixel 8 Pro has a better camera if Apple can change its camera and make an AI I think it can keep up with both Samsung and Google
It's about real world experience not numbers....I have both phones. Pixel 8 destroys the iPhone in use ability. Every time the iPhone updates it gets slower. The P8P gets more fluid and faster. Phew pixel 8 pro destroys everyone in camera experience.... The iPhone tends to make everything more color saturated and almost looks fake like a sticker. Video I have it to the iPhone it's a little more fluid but the pixel is about right here. iPhone is just so locked down can't even download apps outside of the app store where android you can download from anywhere
@@OhPhuckYou Brother even AI tasks are slower then S24u on p8p and chipset both in terms of raw power and graphics is almost 2 year behind competition and worst part inspite of costing this much ot still comes with ufs 3.1 instead of 4.0 And also i live in india which have a warm climates and with pixel here experience is not going to be any good considering high temperature here. and worst is that P8p cost almost same as s24u so here people basically avoid pixels and get s23u /s24u. i have used pixel 7 pro and thought its was smooth but it was hot as same time

Me pasa exactamente lo mismo , me quedaría con el pixel pero no puedo con esos 240hz de PWM.
Pixel watch ,u can transfer to new phone without resetting, its almost a 6 to 9 month old feature now (with Wear OS 4)
Great video. I've used both and fully agree with you. I've got a Garmin watch though. This works better with android as you can reply to messages
Gemini Nano is running locally on Pixel 8 Pro. Call Screen (:, 7 Years updates, ip68, great camera, but not good g3 but for normal usage like me it;s beautiful
The pixel 6 had rear light sensor too. I don't know if they've kept it
Rear facing brightness sensor is present in OnePlus devices.. it works on my OnePlus 12 and it was even present in my previous OnePlus 8t

A €1100 MSRP phone's chip is not designed to compete with other flagships? Are you hearing yourself? Is money no object to you?

Colours on here are so different, it looks like a different building
Which one's closer to the real thing?
I love the iPhone 15 pro but the camera is awful 😞 couldn't keep it for longer than a week, it kept making people in photos look like stickers.
Since I'm not married to any OS I went for the pixel 8 pro and I'm loving every single picture I get out of this phone. The pixel might be under power compared to the iPhone but that's only noticeable if you play mobile games.
the 15 pro camera is not awful.... I have 15 pro and pixel 8 pro. one is not better than the other. in a blind test, there's a 99% chance you wouldn't know which was which. stop the fanboyism already
@@mbvx7 he probably returned the phone before tweaking the camera settings, lol
Hahahahahaahahahah, you’re smoking something serious
Should I get Sony Xperia 1 VI or Apple iPhone 16 Pro/16 if I prefer iOS and will shoot with Nikon Zf with 28-400mm f4-8 and thought to use the phone for ultra wide and standard shoot plus macro (Sony has 2X macro with the tele lens), iPhone image quality nowadays is unnecessary warmish, but iPhone has programmable Shortcut feature and now grammar correction AI, should I just get iPhone 16/16 Pro?
Fun fact : oneplus 8T had 2 ambient light sensors one on back one on front 👋
Pixel in Poland entering the markets. I'm using 8 pro for 3 months and is not revolution as pixel 7 pro but it's more balanced and battery is more stable. Camera and AI support is good as mentioned but still evolving
How much sot u get on lte/wifi?
Has there been any updates released to fix the overheating issues with the pixel?
What overheating issue?
Does the pixel 8 overheat ..I've heard it does
My pixel 8 pro and pixel6pro don't overheat.^^
The performance is definitely noticeable especially with mobile gaming my 8 pro struggles with genshin impact compared to my old oneplus 9 pro
Everyone you made a statement about the pixel in the camera comparison I couldn’t see what you referring to at all even when zooming in the video
Both battery charge speed are from dinosaur age😅😅
Chi va piano, va sano ☺️
And most people don't care, choose to buy those phones because charging speed is not main priority for them.
That's why people can buy chinese phones if they want
What is the best phone for video recording in 2024?
Pixel is the only phone that keeps me away from going back to an iPhone.
Yep, iPhone is way better with Facetime, Carplay, Maps, Apple Music.
We started with android in 2010-2015, but swithed to iPhone in 2015 and we're all now on our 4th iPhones. I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
I urge you to try these apps again. They may have been better in 2015 for sure.
Love your reviews..😊
Very surprised you chose the pixel.
I'm not surprised. Only think about one thing.... how limited the apple system is.
Tried to have MP3 play on my wife's iphone... nightmare.
I mean, who wouldn't. Unless you just don't want to be honest.
@@netgarnet4337 of course, every simple thing is a nightmare on iOS. But, the eco system is just too blinding for the fans to truly see
Then you weren't paying attention
I'm not, it's such an amazing device that gets out of your way
Im about to switch to pixel in couple of days. Can you anyone in the comment share the common issues encountered with the phone?. Although I only use the phone with basic needs and light camera activities (since I work in field). Is it worth it?. Thank you very much
Update: Not worth the hype. Its a garbage phone to be honest and should have just stayed with Samsung. Instant regret
I would have selected s24 ultra over pixel 8 pro. But I didn't because of the camera on p8p and the app bloating on s24u.^^
The OnePlus 8T had the light back sensor, too! :)
Google should bring back the rear fingerprint sensor it was brilliant.
I feel like it works better than the screen one too
At first I had impression that pixel is more detailed in most scenes, but then noticed weird thing, that nearly all iphone photos are focused in some corner, which made background or foreground objects sharper, but they are far from point of interest which can be easily overlooked.
Great comparison. Thank you.
Very Great Video!
Very good review. Thanks
You should have also used the low light video mode on the pixel
Thanks as ALWAYS Alex. I miss you, Daniel, Jerry, Andrew on Android central podcast from a few years ago. Big love, kindest regards, Richard U.K
Hi , on 04:59 on the display what is it ?
It's because the newer phones have ltpo, it constantly changes the refresh rate of the display while the camera shooting the display has a fixed refresh rate for capturing, hence the "distortion". Doesn't happen with the eye.
Personally I would like to switch over to pixel but my Apple Watch causes issues with replacement as it is one of the best smart watches
Team Pixel supremacy 🎉
The camera is > iPhone + love the fun factor of Pixel.
I have a galaxy and never tried Pixel. But I've tried iPhone so I know pixel is better already
Pixel is the smarter and better phone overall. It reminds me of Sony
The video isn't close at all. Just being real the details aren't good enough
I'm kind of sad the Pixel 9 is going to look like an iPhone
I have the 6 pro and 8 pro and honestly my 6 pro works better. 8 pro lags, LTE is awful and wifi drops, I'll get rid of the 8 pro
I see more Pixels in NYC now...
The signal reception is much better on iphone i have both phones
I wonder if the people in this comment section that are bagging the Pixel 8 actually own one lol
I have been using Pixel 8 pro over 10 days, I probably will return it before the return window closes. Here are my reasons:
😂
I absolutely love Pixel devices, but I’m one of those iPhone suckers that Apple has its ecosystem claws deep into.
Heavily considering selling my Pixel 8 Pro and getting the 15 Pro Max since they are supposedly making the Pro models larger next year and I am not sure if I want a bigger phone.
Opposite actually, they're planning to make 2 sizes of pro phones, a smaller one and an XL one
Googles assistant is the best
Better the the iPhones and better then Samsung's
Great review
My wife told me I'm crazy to have both Pixel 8P and iPhone but I see that I'm not the only one 😂
Love my P8P. 👍
I own both. Pixel hands down
Really! I want to buy one out of the iphone 15 pro max and the Pixel 8 pro, but i am torn. Is pixel better?
Dont forget..Iphone is at list 50% more expensive
Apple & Google make beautiful looking phones. But, Pixel images seem better. Google Pixel is underrated
I love both phones The Pixel 8 Pro has a better camera if Apple can change its camera and make an AI I think it can keep up with both Samsung and Google
The day tensor become as powerful and efficient as Snapdragon, I gonna get Pixel then 😂 untill I'm going between OnePlus and Samsung only
The difference in specs don't really translate to diminished experience on the P8P. Only time the slower SOC shows itself is whole exporting a video.
@@OhPhuckYou Brother even AI tasks are slower then S24u on p8p and chipset both in terms of raw power and graphics is almost 2 year behind competition and worst part inspite of costing this much ot still comes with ufs 3.1 instead of 4.0
And also i live in india which have a warm climates and with pixel here experience is not going to be any good considering high temperature here. and worst is that P8p cost almost same as s24u so here people basically avoid pixels and get s23u /s24u. i have used pixel 7 pro and thought its was smooth but it was hot as same time
899€ vs 1350€
More like 890€ vs 1250€, 256gb.^^
Pixel 👍💪
brighter shadows is not realistic shadows are meant to be shadows!
I had both, loved both but my iPhone stayed
Pixel 8 pro has it by far
#TeamPixel
I have the option to buy an 8pro or a 14 pro max for 500. Help
It depends if you already have other Apple products or not because the eco system is important
