(As a disclaimer, I own a Pixel 8 Pro and have access to an iPhone 15 Pro Max, so my comment is based off of my experience with both.) In around 20:20, you mentioned the following about the Pixel 8 Pro: "The experience on this phone just gets worse and worse. It becomes even more laggy and unresponsive with a noticeable hold-still overlay." From my understanding, you are making this statement with the understanding that you are enabling RAW mode on the Pixel, and not anything else. I want to point out that, when you JUST enable RAW mode, and otherwise keep the default resolution (which appears to be 12MP or 24MP for the iPhone, and 12MP for the Pixel; see 20:10 and 20:18, respectively), you shouldn't notice a significantly worse time taking pictures (the post-processing, i.e. the time taken to process the image AFTER the shot is taken, on the Pixel will probably take longer, but that shouldn't stop you from continuously taking pictures). However, in 20:19, on the Pixel, you also enabled full resolution (50MP mode). In 20:24, at the top-left, you can see the 50MP symbol, indicating that you enabled full resolution mode when you made the aforementioned statement about the Pixel being "worse and worse" as you are spamming the shutter button. You did *not*, however, show us taking full resolution pictures with the iPhone 15 Pro. This is where I think you're being disingenuous. When I take out my iPhone 15 Pro Max and enable full resolution (ProRAW Max), there's also a delay between taking pictures which can be seen when the shutter button is disabled for half a second or so -- it's actually roughly the same as the Pixel when both phones are held still (although the iPhone's post-processing time, i.e. the time taken to process the image AFTER the shot is taken, is significantly faster thanks to its chip). I can't imagine the iPhone 15 Pro being any different from the Max in that regard. The reason why I'm pointing this out is because, to me, it's a little disingenuous to say that the Pixel is is "more laggy and unresponsive with a noticeable hold-still overlay" when the iPhone does the same thing when everything is equal (i.e., when you enable RAW mode AND enable full resolution on both phones).
I’m a Google pixel 8 pro user and absolutely love the experience of this phone. However I’m not blind to see the qualities of the latest iPhone pro range. Both amazing bits of kit.
It isn't all daisies as made the switch to 15pro after only using Android and while it is a flawless experience and has hands down the best camera in a phone (I'm a photog don't fight me) it leaves alot to be desired. You can't customize things the same way and it seems to limit the phone rather than push it to it's fullest capabilities of performance. Also it doesn't have all the nifty features pixel has like call screening. Also Siri is a literal tech nightmare.
I agree, video boost is out for the pixel 8 pro and I love it, been using it a lot for my night videos and the difference for me is huge. I also love best take since I have 2 kids it's hard to make them smile at camera at the same time, so usually take a few photos and then mix the best smiles :)
@@Libertymoondreams I think you have a wide range of choices. A lot will depend on your budget. You don’t have to go for a flagship as Apple, Google and Samsung have fantastic mid rangers where you can get all the above. If you have the budget then for me iPhone 15pro or Pixel 8 Pro.
I'm jealous. I decided to try the iPhone after always using Android and it's just worse software. The hardware is better than my previous Pixel 7 Pro, but the software lacks so many features. The keyboard is inexcusable in 2024
There are quite a few software things that Android does better that weren't mentioned in this awesome video: - Copy feature in Android is so good - Split screen, so much productive in many cases - GBoard is just simply better - Google Assistant, Siri is no competition - Universal back gesture, and works on left and right side of screen - Clear All button in multitask window menu - One handed mode - Notifications: Status Bar. No need to swipe to see what kind of notifications you have - Notifications: Smarter features like smart replies, open shared links directly, like, etc - Notifications history, in case you dismiss some and want to check what it was - Control center for me works much better in Android and I think it's better for users that are not used to either. In iPhone you have to learn swiping down from the left side is notifications and from the right is Control Center. Pixel is one swipe down from anywhere in the screen and you access both. Apart from that, Control center in iPhone there are icons without labels, you don't know what those are fore unless you are used to them. In Pixel you clearely see them. You can configure them there in the same Control Centre, whereas in iOS you have to go to Settings and search for Control Center settings. And if the specific Control Center icon have more options, iOS doesn't hint you that, whereas Pixel shows you an arrow to indicate there are more options than just active/deactive - Volume control for different things like Media, Call, Ring, Alarm, and Notifications separately and to access it just need to push up/down volume button and tap in the 3 dots menu icon And for the hostpot, you can have the icon in the Control Center and it will be a swipe and tap away.
iOS has one hand mode too and iOS18 will come with a lot of AI stuff allegedly. What's better too on Android: -Android Auto -Google Assistant can understand multiple languages without switching them in settings. -Call history has 500 not only 100 entries. -The ecosystem is more open -Sideloading apps -AOD -Widgets
Yeah totally agree. Android is far superior than iOS in hundreds of ways. That segment of the video was wild 😂 Wifi/bluetooth quick settings complaint in Android? You can't even turn off either in iOS unless you go into the settings app... which you can't even do from the quick setting! 😂😂
I feel like every phone that costs around a thousand dollars or more should come with base storage of 256gb . Let's be real , smartphones heavily focus on their photography capabilities and even the user would like to store as much photos as they can locally without requiring to back it up or delete photos every month
I agree! I should have mentioned this in the video but you can easily fill up 128GB in a few years. With photos and video files getting larger in size, it can also takes up cloud storage if you choose to backup the photos. I appreciate Google offering 2TB of storage for 6 months though after than it reverts to 15GB which isn't a lot. Nevertheless, it's still an improvement over Apple's standard 5GB service. It's just another avenue for companies to generate more revenue by selling cloud based storage.
Regarding the camera systems, he focused on burst speed, something only photographers - and not even all photographers - would care about. Most people do not do rapid photos. But it was valid for what it was.
This was a very under researched comparison video. Felt very quickly thrown together and I could tell which one he was siding with in the end because of which one he sounded more familiar with. In the end, there was a lot left out from Google's phone that makes this review seem shillish.
I’ve been testing the 15 PM, 14 PM and pixel 8 pro. Cellular data speed using the same sim , exact same place and same time, 14 PM significantly faster, followed by pixel and some way behind was the 15 pro max. Cameras, there were many occasions when the 14 took better photos than the 15, however, in terms of clarity, the pixel beat them both 99% of the time. I’m returning the 15 PM, it is absolutely not worth the upgrade from the 14 PM. If my family were to all iPhone users I would go pixel
That was the most biased apple v android review I've ever watched. Ooh "iphones are better because they're smalller so they're more comfortable in my pocket". You mispressing buttons isn't a downside to the pixel 8 pro, it's a user error and I've always very quickly adapted to new phones with varying interfaces. My family are die hard iphone fans, but have been asking me how my photos look so good recently. Pixel 8 Pro camera is absolutely fantastic, the AI features are very well implemented and are so easy to use. I get home from a 9 hour day at work with 70% + battery, which is a lot more than any other phone I've owned.
I think you might have missed the whole point of the video. I’m not saying that iPhones are better. I was simply sharing my experience using both platforms side by side. Both iOS and Android have their own disadvantages and they can learn a thing or two from each other. At the end of the day, I was just impressed with the app optimizations, the speedy camera system and how fast it exports in LightRoom vs the Pixel. I’ve missed countless shots on the Pixel because of its shutter delay which was a frustrating experience. Look, if you’re patient enough of capturing static subjects, the Pixel is great! I love the image coming out the sensor. The detail is bananas but ultimately I preferred the iPhones stability.
Actually from what I watch too. You made sure to rub it in that iPhone does it better at every corner of your comparison. And neglected to talk about a lot of pixel features. This straight bias. Pro res cool for like .01% of the people that would actually use it. Being able to remove photo bombed is way more useful among other features that wasn't mentioned. .
As you said it's the small things on iphones that are good. But pixel has lots of those small things you never mentioned. For example when you drag your finger from the side to go back. It's like a bubble that separates at some point and it's just a super satisfying small thing which enhances the experience. There are just quite a lot of things you didn't mention. What about the audio magic eraser? You mentioned small things for the iphone but didn't really do so for the pixel. Tensor g3 is a chip made for the ai futures and it's supposed to be the "smart" phone not a power phone. So yea I agree. This isn't a fair comparison.
I do feel some features of the pixel weren't represented well due to either lack of understanding or lack of awareness but I don't think it came from a place of bias.
I'm curious about the ' ease of one handed use ' you mentioned with the iPhone. My dad recently purchased a 14, after using an Android for years. He was very dissatisfied with the placement of the back button inside apps. Now being a tech enthusiast I knew this was the case, but I still don't get why apple doesn't just move it down? How does that translate ease of one handed use?
@ArnavKathuriapersonal Swiping for back is terrible UX design. Swiping back doesn't work if there is an image carousel and then user must use a second finger to use the back button at the top. Apple has terrible UX design.
@kelanreay7380 I am UX/UI/industrial designer. Apppe ahs terrible UX and UI. They're violate industry design standards for gimmicks and hide the terrible UX of iOS. The lack of a back button is a huge negative for iphones. The swipe to go back gesture is terrible UX and doesn't work when the page your looking at has an image carouself. This has always been something I hate about iOS, and why I find Android so much better
Thank You, been so confused about what to get Have a Moto G, been good, but would like much of the same but with better pictures .. Am 73, Can someone help me figure this out, please ? Tks
For the 12min mark. I remember when Android had separate Mobile and WiFi tabs in notification tray. The notification tray had smaller buttons so more info in the first swipe down. Since they changed that to what it is now, it feels like iOS picked up the slack in terms of notification tray options. Huge downside for one handed quick setting change for Android. I know Samsung skin tried to address this for a bit but I switched to Sony and don't know if it still does.
I have the Pixel 6 Pro and I agree with you about not liking the larger phone size. It's a pain trying to carry around a larger phone, literally. If it's in my front pocket (depending on the pants I have on), I have to push the top towards the side of my leg to avoid it digging into my hip when I sit down. The camera features are very important to me so I will always go for the Pro version but I wish Google did what the iPhone does and make a Max version for the bigger size. I want the Pro features of the Pixel in a smaller size.
the reason you hit the power button is because you daily drive iphone, you're just not used to the placement and it's not attention to detail but your muscle memory, joke
Lol right. Tired of iPhone and Samsung users saying this same crap. We use the volume buttons much more than we use the power button. They just like whatever someone gives them or tells them to do. They don't care about convenience or something working better than other options...
Honestly, I have used several phones over the years except iPhone. I actually switched from a pixel 3 to a S23. I feel like the power button is more intuitive under the thumb. I actually do hate the volume buttons on the left hand side. That's stupid. If you place it in landscape mode on a table, you can't reach them
I use a OnePlus device at home to play games and browse social media and the buttons are like iphone with the power and volume buttons being on opposite sides and I am constantly pressing the power button on accident especially when I flip the phone to landscape. But I guess it's better for some reason lmao.
Im a big Android fan, but so much of what makes for a good smartphone experience is familiarity. Anyone in my family that has to use an Android phone for something gets confused about how to do things and vice versa. Theyre both solid options, but if you're in the Apple world, or are used to one platform or another, the choice is kind of made for you.
Pixel actually does very well in regards to familiarity, simplicity, and ease of use across it's line of products in comparison to Apple.... you cannot compare Android from an all brands standpoint as you would be comparing hundreds of brands vs a single brand which really doesn't make sense
I found it very natural to switch to android and I tried switching back around the iPhone 11 era and I was so baffled by how many more steps things took to achieve. It feels like macOS overcomplicated for the design as a priority. Overcomplicated for no apparent reason. To be clear windows is just as bad but that's irrelevant to the topic.
Android is simple. You isheep makes Android looks like someone gave you controls of airplane 🤦. First you need to understand that all Androids are jot vanilla Androids. There are many Android and each manufacturers have their own skin on top of Android so you will see some feature difference and different in their UI but that doesn't mean they are hard...
The thing with the iPhone battery life in the first week being bad is because of the background processing that happens as it indexes files and other bullshit when you transfer data to it from an older phone. Also why it runs warm more often. After the first week or so it settles down, the battery life improves and the phone runs much cooler. I don't know why Apple choses to do things this way as it just makes a bad first impression but if you are worried about the battery life and heating of your new iPhone then don't worry as it will get better in a few days. Also true for the Macs.
This comparison is so old and tired. It's a completely different OS and device support. People will buy what they are familiar with and what works with their workflow, smart home devices, tablets, PC and headphones the most seamlessly. Also a consideration of what your friends /family/coworkers use. But there is no better, just what works better with your products and friend group.
No you're highly mistaken. Basic features and apps are the same on all phones and the iPhone performs wayyy better. Use one then talk about "no better"
@@Draco-999 I used to sell cellphones.....I had an iPhone for years as well. Now I've been using android. It really doesn't matter that much bud. Not enough for me to hate either one
@@SuperCoolipod prove me wrong then? Which phone is more stable? Better app and software support? Battery? Optimization? Best Videography? Better social media apps support?
I went with base s23 256gb, didnt dare to buy pixel because of their track record and also lackluster SOC compared to SD8G2. I considered iPhone 15 pro but the price difference was way to big at 560usd.
I am on S23 rn and I have a 15 pro in my closet awaiting return but its so hard to decide. I love android but everyone I know has Apple and I hate subscriptions on apple also but then the camera is way better than S23
Personally I hate the dynamic island and I would recommend anyone thinking of getting an iphone to go for the max version just, because of that alone. I've not enjoyed watching any type of 16:9 content on my iphone 14 pro at all simply because of how much it takes up from the already small screen. Getting the 8 pro soon, cause it was a smart upgrade for me money and update support wise
I've been using the Pixel 8 Pro for a month, and much of what was said in this review is valid. Great cameras, great features and great battery life, but the optimisation is what kills it. I'm an Android diehard, and I of all people can agree that Apple dominates in third party app and hardware optimisation. Google could improve heavily on the software optimisation for their devices, but they'll never have the best third party app experience.
In his own words "..but...people aren't really aware of it." That goes just as much for stuff like this. Also, you can swipe down from videos to change the brightness in landscape on droid, it's just the corner of the screen he swiped minimizing the view is a feature he didn't bother to learn to use.
As a pro photographer im surprised you didn't mention the ability to change the shutter and iso in the camera app in the Pixel in lue with not being able to on the iphone. As a photographer myself it is a big help to have that.
I realize that having Pro controls on the display took me more time to compose my frame. You see, if I used a proper camera, I would know where the shutter, aperture and iso adjustments are. It’s more organic since there are physical dials and buttons that I can reach which helps me take a photo. Whereas on the Pixel, I found myself missing those key setting by tapping. It’s never gonna replace a proper camera.
@@HardwareCanucks Currently can't replace a proper camera. But also its handy to have the tools in your pocket. I don't always carry my mirrorless camera. But there are times ill want to take a photo during my regular day and have the ability to dial the settings in is a huge pro for me.
Your explanation doesn't answer the question. The options are there giving users more control over the camera, yet you fail to include it in your review. That's a pretty big thing to forget unless you didn't want to bring it up and give marks to google, which seems obvious from the beginning anyways.
As a photographer the iPhone hands down has a better camera regardless of pixel count and software features. It is like comparing a Sony a series to Fuji X yes you will get more features from a Sony ie full frame and higher range of iso but the photos will never be as good as the Fuji's
I think it matters what your used to. I love my Pixel 7 for personal use. But my iPhone 14 for work drives me nuts and I know it's because I'm not a native iPhone user.
You always are a wonderful reviewer who doesn't try to cramp thing into 8-10 minutes. I love longer formats. Thank you, my friend, thank you! Seriously, I appreciate your channel so much. Highly enjoyable. Your video quality is superb, your narration is spotless, friendly, easy to follow.
Complaining about how you have to reach up on Android but you're okay with the Dynamic Island and reaching up to that right? Also, you don't have the notification panel/quick settings set up to pull down from anywhere with a down swipe. Android noob.
@@krazyfrog LOL obviously that didnt matter in the video because he still made a point to criticize the Pixel for the reachability knowing full well that its not the same size. Try again
@KrazyFrog Did you have a stroke? Paying 1000 dollars for a crap cam and smaller screen plus being so restricted on Apple (not even custom ringtones) ... I'm sorry but Apple is just boring. IOS is awful ... And Siri is a joke. I left Apple after 10, skipped 10 and never went back ....
This was obviously iPhone biased. Not mentioning any of the customization features better on android . Just kept getting worse and more obvious and a nit picking mess
The Tensor G3 is so far behind the competition its actually ridiculous that Google charges $1000 for the Pixel 8 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro Max might be $200 more but at least you are getting a top of the line SOC with a much better modem and NVME based storage.
@@patriciamoran9397in north America we dont have VAT. that price is before tax, which can be as high as 20%, so up to 1200 for it in reality in the US
Photos on the P8P just look amazing! And this final result of who is the winner is just simply hilarious. "I'm picking the 15 Pro because it fits better in my pockets" WTF LOL
I picked the iPhone simply because it gave me a better user experience. The camera app was snappy, the performance when I edit my photos was much faster than the pixel and it shoots better video as well. It’s not perfect, I talk about all of its shortcomings in the video if you just skipped to the conclusion. I love the Pixel. I’ve been riding the Pixel train since the Pixel 2 because of its camera quality but Tensor G3 on the 8Pro still has a long way to go in terms of optimizations.
iOS and iPadOS are both painful for downloading anything at all. They really want you to do everything in a preview or the web browser. To save anything to the device you have to “share” then choose “share to files app” which feels really clunky. Apple actually provides a ton of storage capacity in their devices but then make it difficult to actually save files to the devices. I don’t understand why Apple assumes its users can’t handle a normal file browser yet the users can apparently handle grading Log video saved to an external drive…
Why would you unify BT, WiFi and everything when you have to click the unified icon and then click on whatever function you want to access, instead of just clicking it right away. This is your preference, not the flaw of the phone - actually that can also be said for the rest of the video. You just prefer Apple design language, it's not objectively superior and could go either way depending on the person. Quoting Safari of all app as an advantage already prove that, like even most Apple users don't use it
For the pixels finger print.. do two fingers, one from each hand and scan each one twice. Fixes the "reading" issues on any optical fingerprint reader.
It really depends on the person, my partner has very weak fingerprints and even scanning one finger three times can sometime fail. Unfortunately nothing can beat the physical sensor, ultrasonic is good, the optical on the Pixel is horrible.
I really wish Google would bring back the IR face unlock feature from the Pixel 4. It worked really well with my banking apps, GPay, and even in low-light conditions.
@@HardwareCanucks I so much prefer not having face unlock over a gigantic dynamic island (or notch in the case of the Pixel 4). Of course, having a decent face unlock like on the Pixel 8 is the best solution so far as far as I'm concerned. Also, I thought you were comparing with the iPhone but suddenly for the fingerprint reader you compare the Pixel to the Galaxy and don't mention that the iPhone doesn't even have one.
I always used the “max” iPhones in the past until the 14 pro max was killing my little finger with the weight of it resting on it whilst using. Tried the 14 pro (smaller) and found the screen looked to small. Tried the 15 pro and it’s honestly amazing how the thinner bezels make the screen seem so much bigger. Very happy and my little finger is still attached 😂
You can add hotspot as a tile. Not sure why you haven't. I pretty much always use my phone to download big files so i dont need my pc wasting power just downloading stuff.
Dude what is with the subjective fluff? “Apple has a much more strict app review process”…. Lol bro come on. Apps for Apple are designed for ONE OS design philosophy, and ONE hardware stack (previous phone hardware aside for the sake of this) - this and ONLY this is why things run more smoothly.
I completely understand the frustration with app optimization issues, shutter lag in photography, and the underwhelming performance of the Tensor G3 chip. If Google wants to stay competitive, they should focus on the following: Develop a faster and more efficient processor. Prioritize optimizing their own apps for better performance. Encourage developers to improve the quality of their apps. Redesign the control center for a more user-friendly experience. These steps would go a long way in enhancing the overall user experience. I'm using the Google Pixel 8 Pro. And this is my opinion. Don't take it seriously.
Icloud for windows works great, I have access to my icloud photos and files directly in the windows photo app and explorer files. also keychain passwords
I've been using Android for a long time and the Pixel lineup since the P3 up to the P8 and all in between except the P6, I have to say that my iPhone 5S the one iPhone I've ever had felt more refined that Pixels. Seriously thinking on trying iOS again.
I try bought the Pixel 8 pro. I returned it after a few days. Battery life was unacceptable. And there are far too many little stutters. Google maps ran very poorly. The camera and a lot of cool things here and there but it's not not worth $1000.
Great indepth look into both, 1 minor gripe is that for the battery life, you compared phone with different sizes, it would be closer to compare the Pro Max batter with the Pixel. The iPhone might still lose but the gap would be closer.
@@mlgel3ment If that is true then why not have a 1mha battery instead? Am I being too silly? or does battery size play NO part in it at all? "ALL about software"....give me a break, it is the combination of BOTH, we both know that so and all things being equal....the fair thing is to compare both with the same battery size, or at least closer battery size, especially when there is one avaliable on the market.
@@mlgel3mentThen the iPhone Pro and Pro Max should have the same battery life... but they don't. What could be the cause then if it's just the software? Why does the Pro Max last longer?
I agree! The reason why I chose to do this comparison is solely based on their price points. The Pro Max is just way too expensive especially here in Canada with all the conversions.
Ease of ONE HANDED use and you said the winner is iPhone?? There is no God damn BACK button. So you are constantly having to use your other hand to go to he top-left corner... Not to mention it's not consistent throughout diff't apps. That is a major deal breaker especially at their large sizes. Any apple fanboy can help me here?? U can't get anything done unless you have two handles available! Which in a busy life you just don't.
I seen a video where many RUclipsrs always praise the iPhone and make it sound better I’ve seen a few RUclipsrs that are honest it’s a shame it’s a few only flossy Carter is dope he will tell you everything he thinks is trash on a iPhone but also what’s good those reviewers that just focus only on what’s good well they are posers not trustworthy in the end buy what you like I choose android cause it’s not closed off like apple if I’m gonna pay 1000 on a phone I’m gonna do whatever I feel like doing on my phone I’m not a child and don’t need apple telling me what I can and cannot do with my 1k phone
The software issue with the volume during a video is silly. I always use the physical buttons. I would think most people do to. They are right at you finger tips.
I don't understand why iPhone 15 Pro reviewers keep harping on the USB cable that's included. MacBook Pros and other high end Windows Laptops don't come with USB C 3.2 Gen 2 cables in the box. They come with charging cables, which might not even be USB C on both ends.
Aside from being an intelligent and balanced review this was such a relaxing and warm video to watch. The high energy playing up to the camera RUclipsrs can be exhausting and it's truly refreshing to see a considered and intelligent as well as friendly approach to this. Thank you very much
One question. Is anyone here really sitting anywhere with their phones in the pocket??? At the end of the day, these are still phones and what i cant understand is how is apple after all these years failing at the most simple tasks by not implementing quick call and quick search. If you make over 50 calls a day it is a huuuge inconvenience. In android i can find any contact i need without looking at the phone or call my most called contacts simple by pressing a dedicated number on the dialpad. For me a huge deal breaker
I mean there's a lot of points that need to be addressed. He's not wrong but they just need to be addressed. Apple's been you know making their own silicon for a while now. This is Google's third try at making their own processor and they're doing it slightly different than everybody else. And based on the performance and subtle issues that it has, it seems to be based off of Samsung's exynos chips hopefully we'll see them really start to match up with the competition when we see a tensor 4
I have the 15 pro and pixel 8 pro. My 15 pro is sittin my in nightstand drawer collecting dust. The only thing that would make me use my iphone was iMessage. Now that i can get imessages on my pixel with beeper, theres no reason to use my iphone. There really isnt a single thing I can think of that i like better on the 15 pro as opposed to the pixel 8 pro
Snappy and photo that looks great. Is a killer. Best marketing is the photo quality because it is something you post everywhere. This is why Iphone is super attractive to people who uses alot of social media. Also I notice that front camera in social media apps sucks on Android. Feels sluggish and blurry kinda like its on long exposure (slow shutter speed) but for Iphone it looks as expected and smooth as well.
From since I was 13 years old to now (21) I have only ever used or wanted Apple phones. The more I updated my phone and every time I got an upgrade to the next one, the more shady stuff happened. Apple has gotten so bad over the years, just scamming people out of their storage. I had hardly anything on my iPhone because of this, and no matter how many videos, apps, messages, (anything that it told me to delete to get my storage back) my storage would never go down. I even looked everything I could up to fix it like clearing cache, website cookies, ect.. The thing is, when my storage got full it was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a phone in my life. It would fully delete apps from my phone without telling me, the notes app completely going invisible, messages not working, photo editing, anything you can think of that would inconvenience you happens when your storage gets full. They want you to buy storage, and it just seems like they make the experience awful for that reason. I’ve always dealt with this problem with iPhones, but it seems like every time I get the upgrade it gets worse and happens faster. I’m over it, I’m switching.
I don't understand why people keep comparing iOS to Android because in my opinion they both are great & it is a matter of our choices.. some people prefer to use apple products, some prefer windows & some prefer to use android.. some people like to use & can afford to have all of it.. Why can we be happy & contented of what we have & not judge or argue of what others prefer to have..
I really enjoyed your video, I think it was fair enough to compare with a bit of personal preference but overall true to everything. I can see apple recently cares about user experience way more than Google, I'm a Google User for 12 years but seriously I'm thinking of switching to Iphone 16 instead of the pixel 9. (I have a Pixel 7 pro, I like it but liked the Pixel 2xl wayyyy more than it)
This guy is biased as a long term iPhone user, so gravitates to what is more familiar to him. Saying iPhone is great as it is integrated with HomeKit and Apple TV, without mentioning Google Home and Pixel are just as integrated just proves it.
Changed grime oppo find x3 pro tobte iPhone 15 pro max and I regret it ever moment iOS feels so outdated like windows 95 I don’t have the simplest comfort features (auto blocking of scam calls and sms or just a good alarm app, it forces me to left hand use cause you can adjust gestures ) what I loved on android. A17 is only fast on benchmarks but really slow then you play stuff like Honkai star rail for a hour. But battery is really good over 8 hours screen on with 5g is easy. Camera mages wonderful photos. But Connection is really bad never had problems with my oppo or Huawei at work but iPhone just don’t work many times.
I've also noticed iphones have bad connectivity. I can't understand why though. They use the same up to date connectivity chips from Qualcomm. So my only guess is bad software or bad antennas
Wrong! At 12:20, you can just tap on the wifi quick setting tile to bring up a card that would let you toggle data, wifi and even let you change wifi connections right there. Hotspot has a dedicated tile as well. You can rearrange the tiles to your preference.
I am so torn between Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro... I have a Pixel 3 now (yes, I don't often buy phones lol) and I love the size and ergonomics of it, but it's quite old and is getting more and more buggy. All my friends and family have iPhones so I'm the black sheep with "green bubbles," and I've been stubbornly keeping it that way, mostly out of spite. 😅 I have never had an iPhone so I am kind of curious how much I'd like it. I do have a Macbook Air and 1st gen Airpods. My favorite headphones are Sony XM5s, which I understand work with both iOS and Android but somewhat differently. I don't love how proprietary Apple is, but to be fair, most big tech companies are turning out that way anyway.
The battery life issue on the iPhone is a problem. The slow camera speed on the Pixel is an issue on a Pro. Then there is the fact that non of these phones make it easy to transfer files to both PC and Mac. I use both. So my conclusion is phones still have a long way of development before they are worth investing in. So I will once again go for one of the cheapest Android options on the market. Lets give it 5 more years and see if they can produce a decent usable product then
(As a disclaimer, I own a Pixel 8 Pro and have access to an iPhone 15 Pro Max, so my comment is based off of my experience with both.)
In around 20:20, you mentioned the following about the Pixel 8 Pro: "The experience on this phone just gets worse and worse. It becomes even more laggy and unresponsive with a noticeable hold-still overlay."
From my understanding, you are making this statement with the understanding that you are enabling RAW mode on the Pixel, and not anything else.
Sooo, im starting a new biz, and have to choose one of these or galaxy s24... can you plzzzz help me decide?I need lots of storage and fab camera
The keyboard is inexcusable in 2024
There are quite a few software things that Android does better that weren't mentioned in this awesome video:
- Copy feature in Android is so good
- Split screen, so much productive in many cases
- GBoard is just simply better
- Google Assistant, Siri is no competition
- Universal back gesture, and works on left and right side of screen
- Clear All button in multitask window menu
- One handed mode
- Notifications: Status Bar. No need to swipe to see what kind of notifications you have
- Notifications: Smarter features like smart replies, open shared links directly, like, etc
- Notifications history, in case you dismiss some and want to check what it was
- Control center for me works much better in Android and I think it's better for users that are not used to either. And if the specific Control Center icon have more options, iOS doesn't hint you that, whereas Pixel shows you an arrow to indicate there are more options than just active/deactive
- Volume control for different things like Media, Call, Ring, Alarm, and Notifications separately and to access it just need to push up/down volume button and tap in the 3 dots menu icon
And for the hostpot, you can have the icon in the Control Center and it will be a swipe and tap away.
and he can two finger swipe to open up whole "control panel" on android
Everything listed here is 100 percent accurate spot on !!!!!!!
📠
He should rename the channel to Apple Cannucks
iOS has one hand mode too and iOS18 will come with a lot of AI stuff allegedly.
What's better too on Android:
-Android Auto
-Google Assistant can understand multiple languages without switching them in settings.
-Call history has 500 not only 100 entries.
-The ecosystem is more open
-Sideloading apps
-AOD
-Widgets
Yeah totally agree. Android is far superior than iOS in hundreds of ways. That segment of the video was wild 😂 Wifi/bluetooth quick settings complaint in Android? You can't even turn off either in iOS unless you go into the settings app... which you can't even do from the quick setting! 😂😂
from the beginning of the video, you could tell he'd pick apple
Not really y'all js hate it when people aren't in love with you androids
A comment that comes purely from hate and resentment.
Wow you just hurt the Apple fanboys.. the amateurs film makers 😂😂
You clearly haven't been watching hardware Canucks very long and don't know their background in reviewing pc hardware.
It’s not his fault he chose the better phone.
I feel like every phone that costs around a thousand dollars or more should come with base storage of 256gb . Let's be real , smartphones heavily focus on their photography capabilities and even the user would like to store as much photos as they can locally without requiring to back it up or delete photos every month
They want us to buy their cloud storage
@@bukamamusic yep , true. i'm not a big fan of cloud storage and having a ton of subscription but guess that's where i'll be forced to go in future
How about 1TB? I am guilty of buying a kilobuck without it being 1TB
But it should be great if they ship with 1TB from now on
@@古明地恋-s9c isn't kilobuck an IEM ?? how can it have storage 🤔
Finally, someone mentioned about the shit file management system in IOS which is the sole reason why I won't buy an iPhone and an iPad again.
Absolutely terrible. One of the many reasons I would never switch to an iPhone.
I do feel some features of the pixel weren't represented well due to either lack of understanding or lack of awareness but I don't think it came from a place of bias.
yeah you do iPhone are better than Android @@HardwareCanucks
I'm curious about the ' ease of one handed use ' you mentioned with the iPhone. My dad recently purchased a 14, after using an Android for years. He was very dissatisfied with the placement of the back button inside apps. Now being a tech enthusiast I knew this was the case, but I still don't get why apple doesn't just move it down? How does that translate ease of one handed use?
The back button is just a symbol for users on how to back you can just swipe from left edge to right and it will go back
@ArnavKathuriapersonal Swiping for back is terrible UX design.
@@statusquorejecti have fold 4 and just remove the back button to swipe to "back" it's just preference right?
I have pixel 8 pro and iPhone 15 pro. The pixel is the best android phone out there. Very good phone. just as good as my iPhone.
Thank You, been so confused about what to get
Have a Moto G, been good, but would like much of the same but with better pictures ..
7:21 I love how you include this info here. Android has had this jitter issue forever.
Well I don't have this problem in my android 🤔🤔🤔
I have the Pixel 6 Pro and I agree with you about not liking the larger phone size. It's a pain trying to carry around a larger phone, literally. If it's in my front pocket (depending on the pants I have on), I have to push the top towards the side of my leg to avoid it digging into my hip when I sit down. The camera features are very important to me so I will always go for the Pro version but I wish Google did what the iPhone does and make a Max version for the bigger size. I want the Pro features of the Pixel in a smaller size.
Pixel 8 🙄
Pixel 6 and up are bricks, even the regular ones are heavy for their screen size. it's the modems that kill it for me though.
the reason you hit the power button is because you daily drive iphone, you're just not used to the placement and it's not attention to detail but your muscle memory, joke
Androids are not harder to use than ISheeps
just admit you are an apple fan, don’t be a lier 😊
Great to know! I think you're right, that's one of things that put people off from choosing an iPhone.
A comparison cannot be tired like a person, but it can be tiring.
No you're highly mistaken. Basic features and apps are the same on all phones and the iPhone performs wayyy better. Use one then talk about "no better"

Exactly
Sadly Android will never have better third party app optimization compared to Apple. There are just way too many Android phones on the market.

Also, you can swipe down from videos to change the brightness in landscape on droid, it's just the corner of the screen he swiped minimizing the view is a feature he didn't bother to learn to use.
Great job on this video Eber!
@@haterskeephatin101 you mean you prefer iPhone and Fuji. Saying Sony is better at higher ISO doesn't mean Fuji is better.

The Tensor G3 is so far behind the competition its actually ridiculous that Google charges $1000 for the Pixel 8 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro Max might be $200 more but at least you are getting a top of the line SOC with a much better modem and NVME based storage.

Love the review! All the questions that I had were answered.
iOS and iPadOS are both painful for downloading anything at all. They really want you to do everything in a preview or the web browser. To save anything to the device you have to “share” then choose “share to files app” which feels really clunky. Apple actually provides a ton of storage capacity in their devices but then make it difficult to actually save files to the devices. I don’t understand why Apple assumes its users can’t handle a normal file browser yet the users can apparently handle grading Log video saved to an external drive…
haha spotted on.... why i get rid ios in the first point...simple thing seem complicated btw
Hey can you please do a video about how you customized the iPhone home screen?

Brilliant as always. I'd still choose a Pixel because I've never used one

It was indeed worth every minute, this easily one of the best reviews on the internet right now.
I really loved the face unlock on the 4. Worked great! I also really like Soli for music skipping

And you would think if they had that going they would be doing a lot better. Big picture fail
I completely understand the frustration with app optimization issues, shutter lag in photography, and the underwhelming performance of the Tensor G3 chip. If Google wants to stay competitive, they should focus on the following:
Develop a faster and more efficient processor.
Pixel has such a better camera. 100ms longer shutter for double the quality is nothing i would be annoyed at
The reason people should say no to iPhone it is because it is made on a purpose to have difficulties between Android and Windows

Price difference though...
This isn’t valid. Because it’s all about software anyways when it comes to how fast your phone battery drains.
You can't just "settle it" if you live in the US, get an iphone, rest of the world, grab and android, it's cheaper and smarter
We can settle it for anyone. Even internationally
Love you! My Google Pixel 8 pro so far
I’m really loving your icon pack and theme. Please share
Great vid!
12:12 If you want to disable mobile data, just do a normal instead of a long press on the wlan button.
Aside from being an intelligent and balanced review this was such a relaxing and warm video to watch. The high energy playing up to the camera RUclipsrs can be exhausting and it's truly refreshing to see a considered and intelligent as well as friendly approach to this. Thank you very much
Appreciate the kind words!
One question. Is anyone here really sitting anywhere with their phones in the pocket???
At the end of the day, these are still phones and what i cant understand is how is apple after all these years failing at the
most simple tasks by not implementing quick call and quick search.
And based on the performance and subtle issues that it has, it seems to be based off of Samsung's exynos chips hopefully we'll see them really start to match up with the competition when we see a tensor 4
how come you did not talk about the 10 bit hdr video from the pixel 8 pro?
Liked the detailed review as i also experienced both and can confirm all the drtailed mentioned...
Dude that wallpaper is so cool, can you tell me the name or where u got it??
great video
Snapdrop or other port of the same open source project to share files from any device on the same local network, it uses the rpc protocol.
Great review 🎉
I really enjoyed your video, I think it was fair enough to compare with a bit of personal preference but overall true to everything. I can see apple recently cares about user experience way more than Google, I'm a Google User for 12 years but seriously I'm thinking of switching to Iphone 16 instead of the pixel 9. (I have a Pixel 7 pro, I like it but liked the Pixel 2xl wayyyy more than it)
Excellent review Eber! Thanks for the elaborate review. The visuals were stunning. The camera samples were beautiful and edited so tastefully.
I don't love how proprietary Apple is, but to be fair, most big tech companies are turning out that way anyway.
yo man! your iphone homescreen looks incredible, would love a setup guide! cheers
Solid review. Didn't address voice quality.
But super agnostic
The battery life issue on the iPhone is a problem. The slow camera speed on the Pixel is an issue on a Pro. Then there is the fact that non of these phones make it easy to transfer files to both PC and Mac. I use both. So my conclusion is phones still have a long way of development before they are worth investing in. So I will once again go for one of the cheapest Android options on the market. Lets give it 5 more years and see if they can produce a decent usable product then
Did you jailbreak the iPhone? How?
