      And for me it's the opposite... After watching this great comparative video, I wonder if I'm going to leave my P8P for the Iphone 15 Pro max. in fact the 4K videos seem to flatter my retina more, there are more details on the sand, and the branches of the fir trees... I'm really lost...

    Excellent summary video. I have the iPhone 15 PMax, along with Samsung S23 and Sony Xperia 1V. Overall I do like the iPhone 15 PMax image processing and the 'crop modes' offering 28, and 35mm equivalents are useful and usable. pro raw images are superb from the main sensor. The 5X 120mm is useful but the 12MP small sensor lets it down on terms of low detail resolution. If Apple adopt 48 MP for the iPhone 16 5X then they are on to a winner. Xperia zoom at 85 and 125mm is a better approach for flexibility but again the 12mp sensor only provides lower quality image to main sensors. We need 48 MP sensors on all lenses to equalise the quality across all focal lengths.

    • @Saharacase
      @Saharacase  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you, Vincent. You brought up some excellent points as well. If Apple incorporates that primary main sensor pipeline, including a 48MP sensor, they will truly have nailed it. Based on our testing, I believe they have the best RAW processing. Thanks for the valuable information! I think it would be great to conduct some testing against the Leica Q series to see how they hold up. (Main sensor Raw)

      @kell7195 3 месяца назад +1

      Low MP sensors are better for low light depending on the pixel pitch hence why the Sony A7SIII has a 12 MP sensor, this could be why the Apple does better in video.

    Great comparison, very clean editing and pleasing shots. I couldnt believe these photos came out of these consumer phones. I have the 8 Pro and personally much prefer the stills from the pixel in the couple of cases where there was a significant difference from the iphone pictures. Portait mode sucks on both, much better IMO to just use the telephoto with its natural bokeh. Portriat video also sucks on both. Video in good lighting is great on both, but in low light the pixel honestly falls flat on its face compared to the iphone - it's in a completetly different league.
    Software and design won me over though, loving the 8 Pro so far.

    Most of these phones are using the same camera hardware these days anyway. Either a Samsung or a Sony sensor. When Marquees Brownlee does his blind camera comparison test every year, Apple has been eliminated in the first round all but one year. I think what makes this more impressive is the fact the Google pixel 8 pro is hundreds and hundreds of dollars cheaper than the iPhone.

      Yeah, you can't beat dslr. I don't care what phones you have. That small sensor will not cut it.

    • @RandomCaliforniaAdventure
      @RandomCaliforniaAdventure Месяц назад

      @@Fyahking619These days, people rarely lug around their DSLR let alone need one. For the average day user and traveler alike...their phones are the first thing they reach for. Nearly 99% of their pictures are meant to be shared via phone and/or media platforms eliminating the need for a DSLR. Even for many individuals who do lug around their DSLR, many don't even have the basic skills to use it manually let alone know the basics of framing their shot. Other than my enjoyment of astrophotography and light photography, I can't recall 99% of the time where I actually needed my DSLR (hobbyist) for my every day pictures. Given with most pictures are taken with good conditions...the photos may not result in that DSLR like photo but it's close enough to be desired on both my phone and the platform I share it on.

    • @RandomCaliforniaAdventure

      You are right about some of the cameras brand sharing the same brand sensor underneath their hood. When it comes down to it especially photos in general. Google has put an emphasis on this area since their first Pixel series and it got really well during their 3rd iteration. Ever since that, the photo department has been evolving at such a crazy pace. Again, Google is a software emphasis type of company and for the longest time, they didn't half bake their Android OS and it has been a huge drag for the overall phone. It was only during their last 3 Pixel lines did they decide to step up in all of the departments. This is especially true with the 7 Pro and 8 Pro in the video department. Video isn't so much of my thing as it is with the cameras. That's not to say that Google should slouch in that department. For those that prefer the look of the iPhone or DSLR like look. Just turn on the manual feature shooting and Google like imaging results are no longer there resulting in a taste that may be suitable for others that don't like the Google look although countless blind reviews have proven that photos coming from the Pixel series of phones are still considered top notch. Yes this applies to the 7a and now 8a budget series as well which are about $400-700 less than their competitors while maintaining the core features. Going with pricing, Google is known to constantly give out discounts which is a plus.

    For me, general image quality, skin tones, macro and low light shooting, the Pixel 8 Pro just slightly has the edge. Video is iPhone but the new Video Boost on the Pixel is great and Google has made big strides to almost be on par with Apple in that department.

    • @RandomCaliforniaAdventure
      @RandomCaliforniaAdventure Месяц назад

      The "video boost" plays a significant shooting scenario especially during the evening or night scene where it's more challenging to shoot. I've shot a few videos during the night along the beach and city boardwalks and found the video boost to be a big help in eliminating that "fuzz" or high level of noise you often see from night shots. The video itself is limited to 10 mins. Video boosts videos are done via cloud and the results are usually fairly fast....within less than an hour or two and you get it. Again, I shoot with video boost on regardless just because the original video doesn't have the boost but the final result has the post processing done.

    Delightful shots and a very high quality illustrative comparison, my respects. The photos on the Pixel are incredible, but as for the video - the iPhone humiliates its competitor in most cases, especially noticeable at 6:14. Thanks for the video and help, it's a really tough choice and every example of the flaws contrasted with the pros is extremely valuable.

      Thank you, Robert. We truly appreciate your tuning in. Indeed, in video mode, especially when using LOG ProRes, Apple has proven to be untouchable. When exposed correctly, I have compared it with a Red cinema camera and intercut footage. Of course, if pushed too much, it may struggle a little, but no other phone camera in video mode has been able to achieve this. I completely agree about photos! I was pleasantly surprised by the Pixel 8 Pro. It delivers impressive image quality and handles colors and skin tones really well.

    Portrait mode on all phones seems like such a gimmick. First of all it doesn't look anything like a standalone camera, and even if it did, the cutout quality is just not there. So thank you for not putting so much emphasis on it, because for some reason everybody thinks that it is worth talking about and comparing it between different phones.

    • @Saharacase
      @Saharacase  6 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks for watching, Noman. Indeed, it seems like the portrait/cinematic mode still needs improvement. It is a great feature, but it demonstrates that software alone cannot match what hardware can achieve. If anything, a good lens and sensor are crucial, and you can often overlook outdated software in such cases. This is why shooting on large format film cameras is still so enjoyable. Through testing, I have found that the primary camera consistently delivers much better image quality.

    HI HOW MUCH DO U RATE THE PIXEL 8 PRO FROM 1-10

    • @Saharacase
      @Saharacase  4 месяца назад

      I think the Pixel 8 Pro has one of the best cameras on a smartphone that I have tested. It would definitely receive a very high rating, at least an 8. I believe the Pixel is now competing closely with Apple and Samsung. Google has done a great job! This is just speaking in terms of the camera. As far as software and other factors go, I couldn't speak to that as much.

    el iphone siempre ara las fotos mas atractivas eso se sabe pero en mi gusto personal las fotos del pixel 8 pro son mas realistas colores mas fieles a la realidad en cuanto a un vs para mi estan igual en la camara principal pero ya en la retrato obvio gana el iphone 15

      Thank you for watching! Based on all the testing we've done, it seems that the iPhone 15 Pro Max does have a slight advantage for video when using LOG and ProRes.

    Google will not go against Apple since both companies are USA marked. Pixel is oustanding but in some occasions the 🍎 is doing better.

    Apple will always have a slight edge over the google pixel 8 pro and the Samsung. However the Samsung s24 ultra is really good. With that being said, I think Google has a slight edge over the Apple and with the new Samsung it is on par with Apple in terms of photo quality. Apple used to have been so far ahead in the photo area in the past but now, it is either on par or slightly less to the other 2 competitors.

    Focusing on video, it is clear that Apple still leads the way in terms of overall quality and low light noise reduction. I just wish IPhones had a pause record feature built in to allow basic editing on the fly. You can end up with a multitude of little snippet videos or one long droll video full of wild panning and camera jerks and unwanted conversations and rampant exposure changes etc. Just awful. And the apps out there on the Apple store to give your device this ability are clunky and woeful at best. Come on Apple, give your excellent video systems this final tweak to make them perfect.

      @Saharacase  6 месяцев назад +2

      For aftermarket video apps on the 15 Pro Max, the best I have tested is the Blackmagic Cam. You can import LUTs, select other ProRes variants, lock in exposure and white balance, choose ISO, set shutter angle, and adjust FPS to 23.976 instead of the stock 24, and much more. Although it is still being updated, it is a very powerful app for video applications.

    Well, I have eliminated Samsung. The iPhone is better, but I don't like iOS At All. So it appears that pixel is the way to go. Samsung is doing bizarre things with color. I want to see the original color!

    The phones are not only about just cameras. I struggled so much with pixel 8 pro software aftet practically the same samsung ultra android os with samsung twist.
    But naked pixel os made it so bad in therms of customisations. Pixel 8 pro goes back to seller aftet all.

      It's not. It's utterly useless due to one thing. Oversharpening as hell. There is no other brand right now that's oversharpening that much. Samsung need to step it up again. About 15th place on dxomark is not that good for Samsung. Watch the other video and you will see.

      @@yamahaevoYou can adjust the sharpness in photos on the S23 Ultra via Camera Assistant in the camera settings. You have three settings. Off and Medium and High softening. Medium gives best results in my opinion. In fact, it gives excellent results. Once you have set Medium softening, every photo you take from that day on will be in Medium Softening mode. You only have to set it once to make it your new default setting.
