Ronnie as far as I know could go up against any banjo player on Hee Haw and easily hold her own while in a skit looking funny/goofy making people laugh. I will always miss you along with the other great musicians who have pass on from Hee Haw-R.i.P.!!!
i had the blessing of having roni play on a couple songs of mine from my 2nd album...she sat in that studio for about 4 hours doing her part and talking shop...then i drove her back to her car at the old nashville palace as we met her there the day of the session that was out meeting point lol...hung out with her a few times at the old palace with a mutual friend...she is so down to earth...funny...sweet...caring...compassionate...genuine person...AND she rocks that banjer haha
She is one of my all time favorite Banjo players. She is a legend! But the rest of the family great musicians too. Great to see u can still kick asses when no more in your 20s. The Band in the backround play great too!
Roni Stoneman was the complete package. An extremely talented musician. On top of that, a complete Hoot!!! Loved her and Gordie Tapp in "The Nagger's" skits!!!
You would have never met or knew a precious woman I met her years ago when my parents went to OPRYLAND we stayed at this hotel beside Cracker barrel her an her band came in We had breakfast with her an that same night we had dinner with Jerry Closer She inspired me to play the banjo too God bless her 💓
Just learned of her death. I remember watching the Stoneman Family on TV back in the 50s, a show on a Washington DC station.Pop Stoneman was the first person I saw playing the autoharp.
I met her circa 1990 in the Tampa FL area..She performed at Rice Creek RV Resort n the clubhouse..a friend from my church worked at Foretravel Of Florida ($$$ RV's) where he met her having her tour bus serviced..she invited him and his family to come see her at the RV resort..I got a free tape haha
My first memory of Hee Haw was on Saturday nights. I would go to my Grandma’s while Mama and Daddy went out for the night. It was always on Grandma cooked Supper and I would see Roni,Grandpa Jones, Roy Clark picking the banjos. Roni would dance with her shoes off and here I would be trying to imitate her😂😅🤣 My Grandma would say “Sister? What are you trying to do? Are you trying to stomp bugs?” 😂❤️🌈🙏
In the mid 70s we were at the Opry with friends. After the show we all went out, and Roni ended up sitting next to me. She was the MOST beautiful woman I have ever seen. She was so breathtaking offstage that I couldn't even talk to her (and I'm a woman). She had to think I was an idiot, but she put Jacqueine Smith - who as at her height of fame - to shame.
I new it when I was a kid I watched an episode of Hee Haw Roni smoked Roy Clark & took his Lunch money ! Roni can flat out shred on the Banjo PICK & GRIN
Is the steel player alive? Looks like by the expression on his face he's scared Roni might have him take a ride. Ain't an easy song to play on the pedal steel.
AMAZING!!!!! May she rest in peace. What a legend!!!
She was an amazing talent. Her ability to pick that banjo is legendary.
Pick in Peace darlin' Roni!--and hug my mama for me up there in Heaven...
