Hi Mary, I simply MUST share with you my all time favorite Thrift Store find. In 1977 my mother painted a landscape of pine trees by a lake and mountains. Then in the 1980's she moved from California to Florida. Without our knowledge she got rid of her treasured paintings. We thought we would never see them again. In 2011 my brother called me from a local thrift store and told me that the landscape painting was hanging on the thrift store wall. So I drove quickly to the thrift store and could hardly believe what I was looking at. There was her long lost painting. I took it off the wall immediately lest someone else try to grab it. With tears in my eyes I made my way to the cashier and paid $8.98 for Mom's painting My mother passed away in 2013, so having this priceless painting has meant so much to me after all these years.

Those Tasha Tudor illustrations are wonderful! We had a Tasha Tudor book when we were kids, about old fashioned holiday traditions, and I was enthralled with it! You don't even realize what a deal you got for that L&C dutch oven! Even the non commemorative ones are at least 100. But a quick search found a couple of listings for this L/C one (in the box, with the cookbook), for around $270! So that was a steal!
Oh Mary you are such a loving lady. Lovely that you love dogs, which I know most of us are. Also all animals. Also pardon I've been a little nosey but couldn't help noticing your Rosary Beads. It's so nice you have them in your lounge. Kind regards xx
Patricia Griffiths - Oh Patricia!! Thank you SO much for the kind words!! Yes...those rosary beads belonged to my grandparents. The were made in Italy. Where my grandparents were from. The larger one belonged to my maternal grandfather and the smaller ones belonged to my maternal grandmother. When my mother married, both rosaries were given to her. She kept the ones from my grandmother for herself, and she gave the one’s that belong to her father to my father. When I married, my mother gave me hers and my dad gave his to my husband. One day, we look forward to giving these to our son and his future wife!! Thanks so much for being here!! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
@@MarysNest Mary so lovely to tell me about your Rosary beads. You have them now and I know you treasure them. Thank you Mary! How funny we both chose old cook books and said the same thing about them. Love the trivet and WOW on the dutch oven!!! I have been wanting one that size for a long time but that is just an amazing find for only $5! You wonder if those people knew what they had there? One of my top finds was a beautiful, well made, new, Ralgh Lauren king size quilt. I paid $50.00, which was the first I spent that much at a thrift store. It is so warm that my husband and I can't use it even in our cold Colorado winters. It's on my spare bed.
Mary, you are wearing my fav apron. My mixer and food processor have covers of this fabric also-or one quite similar with the redbirds and chickadees and red berries. When you wear it, it’s just like you are in my kitchen. Glad you and Rain Country are doing this colab. Her site is where I always go for herbal info. I visit the thrift shop every few weeks. Most of the time it's just stuff I don't want/need. I found a huge loom (weaving thing) for 100 dollars. I bought it and looked up what a similar loom costs new and it was about 5000 bucks. I've also found beautiful dish sets that probably cost a fortune way back in the day for a few dollars. Thrift stores are like a treasure hunt.

Hi Mary, I love your finds. Which one is my favorite? I can't decide they're all wonderful for different reasons. I've wanted a cast iron dutch oven like yours for a long time and to find a commemorative one like that is great. On the Natchez Trace Parkway, between my home and Nashville, TN is the Meriwether Lewis Park, the site of the frontier inn where Meriwether Lewis died and his grave. I used to love thrifting in the antique/junk shops along I-35 between Austin and San Antonio. Are they still there? I've contacted Heidi and will be making my own video of some of my thrift store favorites too. Be on the watch for it!
Gramma Rose's Homestead - Hi Gramma Rose!! Oh my goodness...yes, some of those wonderful old thrift and junk shops are still there!! A very long time ago, then we married brothers so we were sister in laws. You have her humble kind spirit and soft spoken voice, may your channel continue to be blessed and grow
TennesseeGirl - Oh my goodness!! What a beautiful thing to say. I feel honored. I wish we lived near each other so we could be in-person friends and I could give you a big hug. I’m so sorry for your loss. How beautiful for childhood friends to grow up and then become sisters (in-law)! I know that you have a very special angel in heaven looking down at you and watching over you!! Love you, Mary❤️😘❤️

Beulah Land Homestead Farm - Thank you SO much. It’s a real treasure!!! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
Unfortunately a few of my favorites in Johnson City have closed and they have fancier antique shops now. Very la di da!! LOL!!! I miss the junk shops!! I look forward to seeing your video too!! Can’t wait!! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
@@MarysNest My video went up yesterday morning! And then, I went thrifting again yesterday afternoon. I found three pretty rose-patterned china plates marked "made in occupied Japan" to add to my collection.
@@GrammaRosesHomestead - Wow!! That is a find!! I'll go watch!! Love, Mary
