    Here in Michigan and we would be lucky to get a decent amount of sun 3 months out of the year. And for most of my adult life I wore sunscreen because I was taught that was the best thing until I found out that my vitamin D level was horribly low. When I started taking vitamin D supplement my depression of at least 10 to 15 years virtually disappeared within 2 weeks! I was shocked.

    I have osteoporosis and doctor gave me 3 prolia injections. I want to quit prolia. But doctors are saying I can't stop without an exit plan. They want to give me a zolendronic acid solution as an exit plan. But I don't want this. But they are saying my bone will be worse if I just stop without a plan. I feel like trapped.
    Please advise me what to do.

      My friend had a horrible time with prolia! But you do I need an exit plan. You may want to check out Dr Doug Lucas. He's an orthopedic surgeon specializing in osteoporosis here on RUclips m. He has a membership you can join and you can become a patient and get treatments recommendations. I personally have not done that but his program sounds very comprehensive.

    As someone who's been underweight for many years, I have been recommended to start HRT or estrogen as a way to prevent osteoporosis. I am not that old but I have osteopenia due to my low weight. What's your point of view on that? I was told it was safe and effective way to balance out my hormones and help with my bone density.

    • @lindahallenstein7461
      @lindahallenstein7461 2 месяца назад

      I've been on HRT for a year and a half now. It needs to be started within 10 years of menopause onset for greatest efficacy. Only estrogen can ensure bone tensile strength or resilience. The rest of the advice about exercise and calcium and vitamin D can only make a difference for women pre menopause. Read Estrogen Matters by Dr. Avrum Bluming MD and Carol Tavris PHD. Also watch Dr. Mary Claire Haver, Louise Newson and Barbara Taylor videos on RUclips.

      @@ellenanortje3707 Nice to hear about your progress on HRT and wish more women would be able to get on board but that would require them to get the proper information and access to a knowledgeable and progressive doctor who is willing to prescribe it. After 2 years of suffering and loosing my memory by that point I settled for telemedicine to tide me over. Took me 3 years to find a local doctor willing to prescribe it to me. Had to go academic.

      I went through menopause in 2015 I asked for hrt and my doctor said no it can cause osteoporosis
      I’m now 63 had two severe wedge fractures through caughing as I had a terrible chest infection
      It turned out I was in respiratory failure and had pneumonia
      I was told by 2 doctors my back pain was muscular
      This was last feb
      5 months later I was admitted with my gallbladder and had to have a Ct scan
      It re revealed the fractures and also stated were present on X-ray back in the feb which both doctors failed to see
      I now have kyphosis which is very bad caused by the fractures and suffer every min with terrible back pain
      I’m on alendronic acid cal-D 1000 and finally in dec saw a rheumatologist who wants me to go on zoldronate infusion 1 every 3 yrs which I keep putting of
      I get pain and awful fullness in my abdomen and my hips burn
      I’m not sure if that is down to the alendronic acid or not but seems to be worse afor a few days in my hips after taking the pill
      I also have gerd so not kind on the stomach
      Really not sure if I should go for the infusion or not
      My teeth are not in great condition and I have agrophobia so keeping appointments is difficult
      I to am very slim and wondering if I get side effects from the infusion will I have to suffer for 12 months
      At least with the wkly pill I can stop taking them
      I’m worried about my jaw to
      Knowing what to do for the best is difficult because doctors answers are alway
      Take these pills
      My last dexa scan was -3.8 which I think is the hip and I have lost height already

    The inner part of my knee started hurting a lot. I spend my time at work walking for 6 1/2. Two years ago I was diagnosed with osteopenia. I had pain in my hips, and went away. I started working 1 1/2 and started walking like crazy at my job and carrying heavy stuff my bones are fragile and easily they twist and then goes away. Now I have this knee pain for two weeks and doesn’t go away with anything like ginger poultices and I even tried some pain cream over the counter and it still there. You think I should try the rebound? Or rest my feet for a while. I am still working and walking and putting all the pressure on one leg and my other leg is starting to hurt and hip as well.

    • @Savannah-ed4rv
      @Savannah-ed4rv Месяц назад +1

      All your walking is probably irritating what's wrong with your knee. You might want to get an x-ray and see if there's anything specific wrong that you can focus on. Also if you haven't tried a knee brace you may want to wear one while you're working. Otherwise I would probably take a little time off of work, or ask if they can give you a sitting job temporarily.
