What I literally call for "Life sentence"
This really hits home how terrifying immortality would actually be. Imagine not being able to die no matter what. You don't age, nothing can kill you, you outlive everyone you ever cared about and you have to watch the world around you slowly fade while you stay exactly the same. Ultimately you'll be utterly alone, forced to endure until the sun burns out and the planet is consumed. Which would be in a few billion years.
People billions of years from now will already achieve space travel. So I don't care if the Earth gets consumed by the sun. Being immortal ain't bad. Lonely, but not terrifying, for me. The only problem of immortal people is boredom.
I wish I could tell you it gets better. Well... it doesn't. You do get used to it a little, but it doesn't get better. That's... That's just part of it, you know. Bad stuff happens. Sometimes you can't do anything against it, sometimes you can, but you are too lazy or dumb to do it. Never give up trying, but be ready because... it is part of it.

So this is in the "replacement dimension" C-131. The dimension that Rick and Morty arrive in Rick potion #9. Since the last few episodes of season 1 - season 6 all take place in C-131, we know this episode takes place there. Thing is... after the Mr.Frundles bit in season 6, the state of the earth and the constant desert background of the world makes sense. Mr.Frundles dried out the planet and died, then life went on.
Plot twist:
The entire episode was just a varnish advert on interdimensional cable.

My headcanon is that Jerry isn't really immortal and that the real Rick found him while checking to see if there were any duplicates left and decided to fuck with him by knocking him out and throwing him into random dimensions

this is my new canon and it fits the show since it doesn't make sense for jerry to suddenly awake during those key moments when its more realistic that a random wild animal would wake him up instead, also thats not even including the fact that the a civilization coherent enough to culturally to crusify a person to use a random ass piece of trash as decorate. lastly, earth LITERALLY does not have enough natural resources for a new primitive civilization (or even an invading space fairing civilization that resorts to primitiveness for w/e reason)

Since we have at least another billion years until the sun burns the Earth crispy, it is actually feasible that other civilizations could arise and find new coal deposits for a second/third industrial revolution. Hell, they'd probably also find abundant supplies of fossilized concrete and plastic left behind by us, which would jump-start their civilization. But even minus the coal issue, one of those civilizations depicted was pre-industrial and wouldn't use coal at all.

Not that it would necessarily be that simple but I imagine that a civilization might vary drastically if they had just used a different fuel source at the beginning to sort of set the tone for future innovation. Imagine a society that evolved from learning how to harness power out of dirt

The irony of the the line, "This is the worst thing that's happened to anyone!" at the exact moment of the pan out of the crucifixion is...actually very well done from an artistic standpoint.

Honestly the punishment of being forced to live forever is greatly reduced when he is seemingly unconscious for basically the entire time. The fact that he closes his eyes as if falling asleep, then opens them again and is confused about his surroundings and what has happened in the meantime, strongly implies he’s waking up for like a few seconds/minutes spaced out between eons of time spent completely unconscious.
Notice there's no water in the far future scenes. This is after Mr. Frundles drank it all. Apparently he died between then and now and allowed the world to repopulate. So now, Christianity again or not, let's have a moment of respect for the survivors of Frundlespocalypse who survived in a world without water so their descendants could live.

I guess it makes sense why this version of Earth turned into a dry planet considering that the Earth got taken over by Mr. Frundels who dried/absorbed all the water that was on Earth shortly after it took over.
He just wanted to live, but what he got was to live a fate worst than death.

But being unable to die is a fate worse than death. You have to endure all the pain and suffering that countless civilizations endure around you while you crave the sweet release of death so you can finally have an end to it all

Its even worse when you realize that he'll live all the way to what he'll think is the death of the universe, 10^10^10^10^10^50 years in the future he'll finally think that the pain is over but then the universe will restart with a second big bang and he'll have to live through all of history again and again and again for all eternity

It's meant to be ironic, but it's actually true. Wooden Jerry being eaten alive by beavers, leaving only an immortal head forced to do nothing but watch for all eternity and people keep trying and failing to kill him, is a lot worse then what Jesus got. At least his suffering ended at some point, and if you're a believer, he just came back to life anyway after three days. (And it was technically something he was doing to himself anyway).
Either way, there was an endpoint to the suffering of Jesus, Wooden Jerry will suffer forever.
