WHY CAN'T WE JUST HAVE FORUMS AND WEBSITES FOR STUFF!!! edit: nvm discord was just being stupid and eventually let me join, still hate having to use discord though.
That's objectively wrong. Discord is what helped a lot of niche projects to even get off the ground by allowing the team to communicate, and by giving the fans a space to interact with them and see results.
@LeRodz thats the thing though, they're for INTERACTION, not hosting files. I don't want to join a discord server just so I can download something and immediately leave. If I join a server I want it to be because I actually want to interact with people
I do understand it because it's a good platform to release your stuff on, quickly announce things and so on, but yeah.. having a seperate server for each thing gets annoying
@TheOnlyPedroGameplays you'd get all the reasons you need from other comments here, but my main concerns is that it is not at all sustained, meaning that if anything happens to the discord then all that information and content is lost. My other main concern is that it forces you to join something that you may not want any part in, nor would i add anything by being there. Not only would it be an inconvenience for the passerby only wanting to access certain giles or information (with the extra possibility that the person may have to create a discord account if not in possession of one beforehand, and whether or whether not a discord only accepts accounts over a certain age, meaning an even longer wait process) it also inconveniences the regular users of that discord because it would expose the discord to invulnerability due to the amount of people that are coming in just for the data. Discord is a platform for congregating within a community, and was never meant to be a regular part of internet infrastructure which takes throughput.

I dont know how to describe it... its takes a very high/intense level of nuance when talking about new/old versions. Yes the game has gotten "better", but that doesn't mean its gotten more "fun" which is what "better" could mean to some people. This modpack, the dev Autumnly, has an excellent sense for it. The fact that this is all super subjective is also taken into account, we all watched the video, but holy shit we need to give infinite praise for the ease of accessibility and customization implemented for this pack... Just... awesome dude. Im sure I speak for almost everyone when I express how excited I am to give this a try. The easiness of the process makes me want to try finding some people to play this with instead of just going at it alone.
@@shitsquirrel9 Which versions we find more fun can be highly subjective. I appreciate the old versions for what they were, and if I want some nostalgia or a challenge, I enjoy playing them. But for many basic things like playing on servers, I use the newer versions. I feel like each one of these golden age mods taps into a different aspect of what people find fun in older minecraft.
@@TheStarshipGarage Interesting, I cant stand playing old versions if Im lacking something from a more recent update that I really appreciate/use a lot. Mods solve that a lot of the time though, and this might be one of the best attempts at finding a middle ground to my taste that Ive seen so far. Modding a modern version to make it feel like an older version (while still keeping all the QoL/customization of that intact) feels so so much better to me than just playing an older version. I guess my sense of nostalgia is immediately killed by minor constant annoyances and learning what little things I took for granted hahaha. I dont know too much about the other "golden age" mod packs, but this is the first time one of them has jumped out at me and made me actually interested. @the_ecips9692 and @steamstream777 there are third party mods that are not on curseforge but are on modrinth, same goes for there not being some mods on modrinth but are on curseforge! That is one reason why it is unavailable for download on other sites. Second reason is because there is a mod specifically made for the pack that Autumnly does not want to release it on other platforms as it defeats the point of the mod pack being unique and stand out if other people can make a mod pack with said custom mod.
@@steamstream777 I don't entirely agree with it, but apparently, and I'm taking this from one of there comments in this section, curseforge won't allow uploading of packs that utilize mods that aren't in their libraries, and they don't want to give out her custom mod for fear of someone stealing her work, dunno why that is, but apparently there's more problems than that. You know, considering how often modpacks add new slots to add things to yourself like a ring or charm, I think Mojang might look into actually doing something similar. Because choosing between flying with elytra or being protected with a chestplate is just not fun instead of "challenging". Anyway, I might have to check this pack out.
I've long thought they should add a back slot. Move elytra to that and maybe players will actually wear that netherite chest they stored ages ago. Put a banner there and have a cape (kind of like putting a banner on a shield). Put a shulker there and expand the inventory and allow accessing it without putting it down. Why do they avoid simple changes that would probably improve things in favor of...bundles? A complicated sack that holds a single stack. They talk about players having two seeds and a potato or something, but typically, who cares about two seeds and a potato? It really feels like they saw the junk in someone's inventory and went "That's important!" instead of "They probably don't even want that!"
Maybe... but at the same time we'd never get moments of "Person jumps from a fatal height, forgets their Elyra, panics trying to put it on before they die" then :V

As a modern minecraft enjoyer who maybe touches old versions twice a year I'm also excited for this, we've really needed modpacks that offer genuinely unique gameplay experiences (not just loads of RPG and factory modpacks) even if they have features i personally dislike.
This looks like a much more interesting "recreate the feel of beta minecraft in modern" modpack than a lot of others you see out there. Might have to check it out. If you're taking recommendations for modpacks to check out, might I suggest Raspberry Flavoured? It's a very cozy and unique modpack that combines the vibe of beta with modern features with its own custom stuff as well.
I remember writing a long rework for enchanting that is pretty much exactly the alchemy system in Minecraft Forums years and years ago. Glad it's finally something someone made.n
the funny thing is that it's designed to be more accessable than, say BTA or ReIndev, but I can't even download it without getting a whole other launcher
There's no greater piece of prestige, for a mod maybe, than for it to not just feel in the "Vanilla style" but to actually feel Vanilla - IDK if the Aether is more well-integrated than other dimension mods, or if it's simply more culturally known. The fact that kids like me tried to build the portal in vanilla Minecraft, believing it no different than The Wither, helps. Twilight Forest is also like this. It's also logical for there to be an Underworld, an Overworld, and a Skyworld, below the Otherworldly end which is technically also a sky world. And then, beyond the vertical distance based worlds, a fantasy Forest World makes sense too. Beyond that, a desert world? Maybe an underwater world? Or an ocean world with islands? Could be a good way to test out new generation, eg; tropical islands, peninsulas, archipelagos, many small islands, etc
I think this changes the core of the game way too much, to the point where it doesn't feel like beta Minecraft... which is the whole point of the modpack...
This will be a great mod pack to build off of, as it really looks like vanilla to me in a good way you could add tech and have an old school modern content tech pack, magic, completely building, or all of the above, It’s a GREAT base line imo. I’ll be downloading shortly :) u
This sounds really fun! Mending requiring 2 nether stars is fine with me tbh i never liked how easy it was to get. Not sure if you can still trade for it (hope not)
The best part, if you want to easily play with friends, you can literally just open to LAN and it'll automatically set up a server and give you an IP to send your friends, no hassle
@@bititboi I'd disagree in cases like this where the lag-creation isn't too high. If it were a modpack utilizing create or a variety of tech mods, I'd agree, but Essentials and the like are better for low-impact packs
I think this is the Minecraft I have always wanted. The earliest I have no nostalgia for old Minecraft but this modpack has all the small things that are fun to mess around with that I love. The RPG elements are also awesome and are something I wish Mojang leaned into more. The only thing I'm not a fan of is there not being a hunger system since I like farms but the rest of it is perfect!
Looks like the good ol challenge survival pack with features kinda taken out, not too bad. The enchanting rework does remind me heavily of late game magic ritual mods or just magic crafting/upgrading in general, Thaumcraft and Ars are the two I think of with that, system is more or less identical with different effects. Looks alright, only issue I see is that enchanting seems like it can scale way too fast now
I really wish someone would make an alternate timeline set of mods for 1.16, with the simpler style of tweaks found in some beta modpacks. Ever since 1.16, Minecraft has gone in a really wonky direction that really just doesn't feel like Minecraft, and honestly many of the features past that time are bloat that doesn't matter much anyways. I feel like there's a new sort of "middle Minecraft" period that follows the "old Minecraft" of the Beta days, which ends at 1.16 and never seems to get the same sort of attention. Sure, its not nostalgic quite in the same way as the really old stuff, but its still _good_ and has a lot more features and runs smoother. I really wish it would get some more love, people either fixate on the golden age or the new stuff and leave out everything in between. This feels like a step in the right direction, but still doesn't quite do it for me. In many ways it feels _more_ new than modern Minecraft, just with some cool terrain rework. Its well made and impressive to be sure but I wouldn't call it particularly nostalgic as a whole.
The unfortunate truth is that modding for 1.16 is tough. The version has some fantastic mods and its modpacks truly feel unique, but making a larger, cohesive modpack without massive performance issues is damn near impossible, not to mention how often the pack just won't load up. In terms of modding accessibility, it's probably on-par with 1.18 (which, on forge, had a massive bug that would sometimes cause modpacks to stop loading up permanently, and the only way to fix it was to completely delete all files).
I always say I'm going to play these mods and modpacks you feature. I always say that, but never actually do it. Given how accessible and friendly this seems though, there's a very good chance I just might actually try it out.
can you cover the modern beta SMP? not exactly a mod, but it is a server that uses plugins, texturepacks and datapacks to recreate a beta server in modern minecraft. you do not need to download anything to log on (nostalgic tweaks helps with a couple of small things that the server simply can not do within their limitations, but is not required), it just works with the newest version of minecraft straight away. the server also has quite an active community
Check out my Analog Horror Music mod! It's part of my Nostalgiacore analog horror modpack. It's supposed to kinda feel like playing an old Minecraft ARG, and I think I've so far nailed the atmosphere. Unfortunately, there are two mods that I feel are pretty essential to the pack that are fairly broken, having just been released, so playing the most recent version means your game will crash sometimes, and that's aggravating, but it's still a lot of fun. So far the Music is my only custom content, but I have plans for a very ambitious lore mod that I think will be great if I can pull it off.
I swear, Ryan is just going to start paying people to make mods soon just so that he doesn't have to endure Better Than Wolves. The BTW video will come one day. My blistered hands tell me tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.
These projects are cool BUT...after few months they die. The only one surviving is Better Than Adventure, but still, updates are sporadic, and one day they will all disappear sadly. So better play vanilla, or even better play Minetest (now called Luanti), which is meant to be modded, unlike Minecrosoft.
I've been around for a little while, and I think part of it is there's a ceiling where adding new things or changing too much goes against the original spirit of the project. Love BTA, but it's starting to feel like an entirely separate game. Not a bad thing, just something i've noticed happening over the years and why things kind of die off eventually. You either run out of things to adjust or you take it in its own direction.
Ryan put it really well in another comment, but the I want to avoid overdoing it with updates. Usually what I like to do is put out a couple updates, take a break to avoid burnout, then come back in a couple months with some new ideas! It helps keep the modpack nice and fresh while avoiding a lot of exhaustion from me. Plus, the modpack is in a state I'm happy with, so no point in updating just for the sake of it
The terrain-gen mod is a mod called Cascades! It has the base worldgen, although it won't include any custom biomes, caves, or other special features from the modpack
I love this but it should be on Bedrock too! Should be pretty expensive because how good it is, I would buy it too and I don't have Java so I can't try it
Modern minecraft needs way more quality modpacks like this, but I'm just disappointed that it's a nostalgia mod because I really prefer new minecraft. Are there modpacks similar to this that you can recommend?
I honestly lost interest in Minecraft when things got really flat and you wouldn't see floating Land masses. I remember in early Pocket Edition having a Seed which had an above ground cave within a mountain and a lake in the middle.
Is there any texture pack tailored for this that doesn't look like just old minecraft...? Honestly this seems fun and I'll take what I can get even if it means modded blocks won't look right with modern or different textures. Old minecraft textures just make my eyes sore after 10 minutes of gameplay, no joke. :/

I think this changes the core of the game way too much, to the point where it doesn't feel like beta Minecraft... which is the whole point of the modpack...
alternate timeline packs are kinda like that tbf.
no, it's trying to feel like MODDED beta. the mod choices are meant to feel like you suped up beta. they pulled that off
good. Same shit regurgitated for n-th time ain't fun
When I played it reminded me of good ol 1.12@@sonicSnap
This will be a great mod pack to build off of, as it really looks like vanilla to me in a good way you could add tech and have an old school modern content tech pack, magic, completely building, or all of the above, It’s a GREAT base line imo. I’ll be downloading shortly :) u
If there was a full time and calendar system that interacted with villages it’d be so cool
I don't think this pack matches my vision of what a Beta'd Modern Minecraft would look like, but I do love the terrain gen.
Show off more like this! I love the idea of keeping the good of the new with beta flavoring.
The imbue system is super cool and gives an actual use to random items (i might be stealing it).
This sounds really fun! Mending requiring 2 nether stars is fine with me tbh i never liked how easy it was to get. Not sure if you can still trade for it (hope not)
Finally. A minecraft mod pack I can share with my friends without problems with the server or clientside. Can't wait to set up a server.
The best part, if you want to easily play with friends, you can literally just open to LAN and it'll automatically set up a server and give you an IP to send your friends, no hassle
@@Autumnly24 server better
@@bititboi I'd disagree in cases like this where the lag-creation isn't too high. If it were a modpack utilizing create or a variety of tech mods, I'd agree, but Essentials and the like are better for low-impact packs
@@titan1umtitan in server your friends can play anytime. essential is for temporary use
Wait for soft wind review
I think this is the Minecraft I have always wanted. The earliest I have no nostalgia for old Minecraft but this modpack has all the small things that are fun to mess around with that I love. The RPG elements are also awesome and are something I wish Mojang leaned into more. The only thing I'm not a fan of is there not being a hunger system since I like farms but the rest of it is perfect!
This modpack seems to be great for players like me that loves the old minecraft versions and old mods but loves the new minecraft too
Hate that this is gatekept behind a discord, I miss when the internet was more open.
Looks alright, only issue I see is that enchanting seems like it can scale way too fast now
How insane could it be?
possibly above the baseline levels of insanity
Okay that was pretty insane the video wasn't lying guys (Like Paladin usually does smh my head)
Love these old style mods ❤
Added MobFilter and OcelotFix to this and after a bit of configuring, it feels like I'm in a hybrid of my two favorite versions, b1.7.3 and 1.5.2.
In terms of modding accessibility, it's probably on-par with 1.18 (which, on forge, had a massive bug that would sometimes cause modpacks to stop loading up permanently, and the only way to fix it was to completely delete all files).
oh i gotta play this
Old and new you say?! I’m surprised Mojang hasn’t updated the old texture pack to add some of this stuff to the vanilla game
Awesome vid! This mod just excites me so much, definitely playing it with friends
hey that spider guy looks rather familliar
Woah, what a coincidence
WOAH! I KNOW THAT PERSON!
Wait, those new weapons, i know that mod i used to always have it way back when
This is fantastic
Oh no… they found us! Quick get our passports XD
This is basically an alternative timeline of this minecraft, if Legacy Console Efition still existed and microsoft never bought Minecraft.
Ever heard of Minecraft Reminiscence? its another mod in a similar nature to this thats pretty good
I swear, Ryan is just going to start paying people to make mods soon just so that he doesn't have to endure Better Than Wolves. The BTW video will come one day. My blistered hands tell me tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.
For some reason Nostalgic Tweaks 1.20.1 makes my game crash upon loading a world
This is so amazing. Imma go download it
24 mins ago… I better be sleeping
you should check out the Reminiscence mod pack, it's another good golden age pack
Idk i feel like Minecraft didn't actually change that much over the years. I feel nostalgic when i turn of smooth lighting. cx
Wish we had this on Luanti :(
please check out the modpack called Soft Wind
MC Diverge is still being updated.
@@lucamayhemis that the one with the lightning symbols for stamina? i always thought that one was the coolest
@@danielsmokesmids yeah, it's basically Terraria and Minecraft's love child
Ryan put it really well in another comment, but the I want to avoid overdoing it with updates. Usually what I like to do is put out a couple updates, take a break to avoid burnout, then come back in a couple months with some new ideas! It helps keep the modpack nice and fresh while avoiding a lot of exhaustion from me.
Plus, the modpack is in a state I'm happy with, so no point in updating just for the sake of it
Man if only Minecraft was different.
Bro really talked in circles during that intro. Not hating, just letting you know
I have 2 questions
1. Can I get the terrain gen mod by itself?
2. What mod loader is it used on ie fabric forge Neo forge or quilt?
The entire mod pack is fabric
The terrain-gen mod is a mod called Cascades! It has the base worldgen, although it won't include any custom biomes, caves, or other special features from the modpack
Thank you. I started playing the mod pack and it’s a lot of fun.
Hi ! Do you know the name of the mod that makes the chunks pop from below in the distance ? It looks super cool :)
Ok yeah this is frickin AWESOME
I love this but it should be on Bedrock too! Should be pretty expensive because how good it is, I would buy it too and I don't have Java so I can't try it
3:35 No way bro called bronze a Runescape reference 💀💀💀
it's well known that runescape was the sole inspiration for the simulation we live in
You should try SoftWind modpack
Modern minecraft needs way more quality modpacks like this, but I'm just disappointed that it's a nostalgia mod because I really prefer new minecraft. Are there modpacks similar to this that you can recommend?
What version is this modpack in, again?
The golden age of minecraft was 1.2.5
Me when i see the battletower in the thumbnail: RLCraft.
I honestly lost interest in Minecraft when things got really flat and you wouldn't see floating Land masses. I remember in early Pocket Edition having a Seed which had an above ground cave within a mountain and a lake in the middle.
Finally!

Lavender wood !!!!!!
Bro, keep going making videos about the golden era of Minecraft, you're the best
awesome video!
on 3:20 what modpack/mod is that?
Wow sounds just like a dollar store minecraft
Other than the terrain generation which is masterful
Is there any texture pack tailored for this that doesn't look like just old minecraft...?
Honestly this seems fun and I'll take what I can get even if it means modded blocks won't look right with modern or different textures. Old minecraft textures just make my eyes sore after 10 minutes of gameplay, no joke. :/
why do people host downloads on discord? it just adds an annoying extra step every time you want to download an update and it floods the server its in with tons of inactive users
Does importing the mod work for Modrinth?
All I see is RLCraft battle towers
GREG TECH!
Is better than better than adventure?
Why is everybody is commenting about discord? Ok, I understand that it was probably released about discord being blocked in Russia and Turkey but like really? I doubt that all that commenters are Russian and Turkish. Can anybody explain o me what is going on and why everybody thought that Discord is cool and than some insane amount of people hating it pops up everywhere? I'm starting to believe in some conspirancy, idk
Beautiful
