Power BI Has a Power Automate Visual!

Learn how to use Power BI’s newest visual which is the Power Automate visual. This visual allows you to capture data insights directly from a report page and then dynamically take action on it. Microsoft has some pre-created templates for you to take advantage of, but Matt will show you how to set up an automated email that will send the data insights you are viewing directly from the report page.

Thank you for sharing! The only thing I don't see is how you connected power automate to your email address. Is that a separate process?

Hi there. So when you first use the Power Automate visual you will need to sign in with your Microsoft credentials. Later in the demo when I set up the email process I used a column from one of my tables where I had email addresses stored I put those in a slicer visual on the page so I could pull from that slicer during the email process.

Hi Ivan. When the flow is triggered Power BI takes those data values and then passes those values into the parameters which are being used in the automate that was built.

is there a way to add people as "Run only users" but make it so they don't get an email notification?

For sure. The run only users is just you granting the people you share the report with to use and trigger the visualization. Who the email is sent to is set by you when setting up the Power Automate.

The email only shows the text values of the data at this time.

is this free on the power bi service or do we need power automate licence?

You will need the basic Power Automate license included with your Microsoft subscription to run.

If you are running an April 2021 through June 2021 version you do need to import the visual from AppSource. If you are running the July 2021 edition it is embedded into the program.
