    I'm currently in my first semester of nursing school and I failed basically every midterm. When I say failed I mean from a nursing school standpoint. I'm pretty upset and nervous of being kicked out. Looking for advice but finding people doing an ABSN is really hard so thank you for this video. I don't know if I'm going to be able to recover form it unless I ace every final.

      Hi there! Please don’t give up and keep going! I know this is easier said than done, but I promise it will all be worth it in the end. Accelerated programs are definitely harder than traditional programs due to the sheer amount of information overload in such a short amount of time. Definitely reach out to your instructor on any next steps that you can do to help raise your grades. Also, watch videos such as Registered Nurse RN on RUclips for any of the topics that you are currently learning to help you understand the material. You got this! 💪🏼

      Hi Barbara!
      To be completely honest with you, I would say to try and enjoy your free time as much as you can! Because once nursing school starts, you’re going to be super busy!!
      If you truly want to read something on the side as a way to prepare, I would suggest reviewing your anatomy and physiology since it is the foundation for helping you understand certain topics such as pathophysiology later on. Nursing school expects you to know this already and will not re-teach A&P concepts. You’ll be ahead of the game that way :)
      I have some free A&P study guides for download on my website. Hope this helps!

    Hi, I failed my first semester of my ABSN program. My program is 14 months. We had 5 weeks, and we had 3 exams and nothing else that we were graded on. The ATIs were a waste of time and a pass/fail deal. We had PowerPoints, the textbook, and lab was separate but still a pass or fail deal. I studied a lot, but now I'm worried because if I fail another class, then I'm kicked out of program. I'm not sure if I should give up now, because my professor told me only gets harder.

    • @NurseIvyRN
      @NurseIvyRN  2 года назад +3

      Hi Faiza! I’m so sorry to hear about your first semester. If you truly want to be a nurse, don’t let this be the reason that you give up. I know several people who have failed a class but still managed to pass the program. Speak to your professor and ask for ways that you can improve in the class when you retake it. Take advantage of any tutoring resources on campus (especially if the tutor took the same class already). Watch SimpleNursing and RegisteredNurseRN on RUclips on the topics that you are having trouble with. They are tremendously helpful! Just remember that this program (especially accelerated programs) are very difficult, but you can do it!

    • @NurseIvyRN

      Hi! Unfortunately we did not have the option to choose the time of day or location of our clinical rotations. Some students had to drive very far away and some were lucky to have a rotation close to home. Everyone had different hours as well - it all depended on the facility and the clinical instructor’s schedule.

    Is there any student in your program that have children and work? If so can you ask them how are they managing and if they have any advice for suture ABSN students? I start my ABSN program this fall and I have a 4yr old and work but I am thinking of quitting. Please if there’s any students in your program that can give me some advice on how to prepare to be successful in the program. Thanks in advance and thanks for this very helpful video

    • @NurseIvyRN
      @NurseIvyRN  3 года назад +2

      Hi Jacqueline!
      Yes, there are several students in my class who have a family, some even have children and are currently pregnant! The main way that they are able to make it through the program is through family support. They currently do not work because it would be too much trying to balance family time, nursing school, and work all at once. They have family members who take care of the children when they're busy with school. Overall, it seems like they try to work on school assignments early in the morning and late in the evening when the kids are sleeping. Also, they are being financially supported by family as well (at least from the few classmates that shared their experience with me). They are also relying on loans to pay for tuition. I hope this helps! Remember that many people in your very position have been able to get through the program!
