Honestly, super high detail games like demon's souls remake are expensive and long to produce. I think it's unhealthy to expect more and more graphical fidelity from studios like from software. We've seen from dev stories on for instance TLOU2 how this can be destructive to studios. from's clearly got a good and effective production pipeline down by this point. I'll be happy if they can continue producing games at the rythm and quality they've got right now.

(des remake) you even get more soaked in the incredible atmosphere of those games. i never expected that elden ring will look like des remake but i did expect a bit more than ds3 graphics/details
By the time Elden Ring is released, the same amount of time would’ve passed between Demon’s Soul and Dark Souls 3, and Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring. We should be seeing the similar graphical leaps. Far too many games from its generation have improved their graphics while keeping their art styles. Similarly, new games have been released that have great graphics and art styles.
@@dynamicflashy The hardware power leaps between those two generations are hardly comparable. In addition to that, you might have noticed that while the durations from DeS to DS3 and from DS3 to elden ring are the same, the first period gave us 4 games, while the second only 2. Do you know why? Because as games get bigger, more detailed, and more complex, as player expectations grow, the money and time needed to produce games grows exponentially. The risk taken by companies when producing AAA games such as these also grows, which is why you get less games, and why big publishers are moving away from premium AAA and into Freemium and mobile games, that are way less risky of an investment. Take some time to think about how your mindset is affecting this industry.
@@Sagaan42 Okay, I've taken some time out to think about it and I stand by my statement. If Elden Ring won't be able to make the required leaps as expected, then it should be delayed. Demon's Souls remake and even Ghost of Tsushima's PS5 update has shown this generation can achieve terrific results akin to a "jump". Releasing a game with nearly the same graphical fidelity as a game from the early parts of the previous generation doesn't cut it. Sure, the core game should still be great, but I'm talking about its visuals.
It's such an oddly comforting sensation to see these creators here after following them steadily throughout the past almost 10 years since I got into the Souls series, either through Vaati's recommendation or my own interest in dissecting the games. Illusory wall could upload a 40 minute video about mostly insignificant changes from Dark Souls PTD and Dark Souls Remastered, and I'd happily watch it multiple times. I assumed I would be alone in this quite niché interest in small details, and yet there's an overwhelmingly large amount of people who seem to similarly enjoy it. Maybe I am overthinking it, but this all feels like we're writing love letters to games of a similar nature that have touched us all on deeply emotional, mechanical, or otherwise layered level. I'm sincerely happy to be part of this, even if I am only a spectator.
Also, grab attacks are inescapable on keyboard and mouse, even if you bind R1 and L1 to be completely separate buttons (default is left click for R1 and shift+left click for L1)

Honestly one of my favorite things about your channel is the way you promote other soulsbourne content creators, especially considering you're one of the biggest. super admirable, keep it up man!
Did you know, when you fight great shinobi owl at the top of ashina castle, after you get the first deathblow he gets down on the ground and says "wait please", during this time if you attack him from the front he throws a smoke screen and says "you fool", but if you try and attack him from behind he jumps and says "I'm proud to see how you've grown" or something along those lines.
7:00 i figured the Blue Point remake was done with tweaked mo-cap for the new looking animations, but holy shit they actually didnt tweak much for those riposte animations. it puts away my theory that all those animations were done by hand, cuz they didnt look natural in any way, shape, or form. turns out the actual actor was just as unrealistic and moved as jank-ily as the animations ended up looking in the end. im surprised a human was able to force themself to move as robotically as that.
I think we'll get a visual leap forward from From when they make their first non-crossgen title, Elden Ring is firmly entrenched in what the PS4 and XBO could do... It still looks fantastic, but it is held back by the hardware it was originally intended for.
6:24 "Turns out, slaves are more entrenched in this game than I thought" Me: oh no, not Another studio forcing development hell on their workers :( "As you head up to fight Allant, the final boss, take a look at the elevator. Hidden in the mechanism are two slave soldiers..." Me: oh, thank god, just elevator slaves! *Phew*
When I heard Ymfah my ears pricked up, all the RUclipsrs in this vid deserve a sub but ymfahs effort in his videos are amazing and super entertaining, I’d recommend him to anyone
Learned two things relevant to Elden Ring from watching this. About why sometimes during a mid-fight cutscene phase transition a boss will take a huge chunk of damage. Somehow, they're taking fall damage as they're being moved into the scene.
Even though the Demon's souls remaster has that higher graphical fidelity, I much prefer the artstyle and feel of Ds3/Sekiro/BB. Theres just something cartoony about the way things look in DeS remastered, the miners in world 2 look like they could be ratchet and clank enemies. I was honestly relieved when I seen Elden Ring and it looked just like fromsoft's previous 3.
I really appreciate so much how much you do as a spokesperson for the community, and how you showcase all these other wonderful creators that all share our love for the rich FromSoft worlds. Means a great deal.
Vatti you may be smart but you aren't wise. Graphic don't matter, only qaulity of it and art style. Adding more polygons with not make batter game, only make production longer.
Vaati, I got the add for Soul Arts kickstarter on this video and did not notice it was an add. Good looking book, Might get the PDF, I have no room to preserve the physical copy. To the community, thank you for your hard work.
4:20 same happened in destiny 2 during the atraks-1 encounter in the deep stone crypt raid: she has multiple copies of herself, so the real health bar comes from another enemy hidden away, but if you placed a titan shield at her feet you could actually see the damage numbers occurring on the realt enemy, and by placing yourself between a door and stasis cristals and casting your super you could glitch through the door and go kill the actual boss skipping the encounter mechanichs
8:30 Bluepoint does have great animations and graphics but the artstyle changes they made to demons souls are generic as hell so hopefully fromsoft dont get too influenced by them
Imma be 100 with you chief. The fact that elden ring looks more like DS3 than Demon Souls Remake makes me and my friend happy since we're still runing last gen specs on our PCs and we will be able to play the game thanks to that.
@@GBlockbreaker shhh i'm just showing my love for these games. Didn't really think too hard when writing this comment 🤣 but the souls series is definitely up there with them
The Fifth King segment reminds me of a Raid in Destiny 2, Deep Stone Crypt. There's an encounter involving a bunch of clones, and outside the arena is a solitary, standard enemy that "stores" the boss's health bar. People used to be able to cheese the fight by glitching outside the arena proper and attacking this standard enemy.
8:23 Gotta disagree here. I'll take good art design over grafix any day. If their engines were more like Bethesda (where grafix are the least of its problems) then I'd call for an overhaul. As it is, if it ain't broke...
this'll be exciting, will edit after watching about how it was edit: loved it and didn't know they had raytracing videos out! gonna watch those too, and good luck on the Kickstarter!
Are you seriously bashing From Software compared to Bluepoint? They recreated an entire game in a vision not of the original developers, instead of creating their own video game like every other game company does that piggy-backed off the success of Dark Souls.
Vaati: "Y'know, I wonder when Fromsoft will update their graphics" Me, who has only ever played Dark Souls 3 with 20 or less FPS: "pls no I wanna play your games"
I get that the new content train hasn’t arrived at the station yet but it’s starting to feel like your art stuff is taking over the channel. I’m happy for everyone that enjoys it but for a person like myself that doesn’t, it’s a real slog. I often can’t tell that a video has 20+ percent of its content devoted to it by the title. It’s sometimes at the beginning and sometimes at the end and essentially unpredictable. I’m glad you have additional revenue streams for yourself. I’m glad that your Kickstarter was successful. It’s not for me at all and I wish it was a bit easier for me to navigate around that side of your content. Either it’s separated off into it’s own videos which are relatively clearly marked or it’s own entire channel. As it is now, instead of the excitement at the beginning of a video I used to have, it’s now replaced with scanning through the chapter names at the bottom of the video to see if I need to skip sections or can safely close the video before it’s finished because the final minutes are devoted to the art stuff. Again. I’m happy for you and the fans of it, I just would like an easier time navigating it. I assume there are others like myself that would also appreciate it.
For #4: Bungie uses a similar trick in Destiny 2. In one of the boss fights of the Deep Stone Crypt raid, you face against Atraks-1 who is able to replicate himself, and the core mechanic of that fight is figuring out the real body among the many copies (otherwise it's a wipe). Well, some glitch masters of the community have found an enemy model placed out of bounds as a placeholder for the HP of the actual boss. Nice to know that it's not an uncommon trick among devs.
The awful remake of the demons souls intro was all mocapped? That is so surprising. It looked so fake, but I guess the original intro was more fake than the new one. Guess that means whatever fromsoft did in 2008-2009 created the illusion of realism more than bluepoint did in 2019-2020
I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with From’s technical design of their games’ animations. It’s a design decision, not a lack of polish. Blue Point’s DeS looks gorgeous, but there’s something in its animation and art design that I find somewhat forgettable in that “new gen shininess” way that early next gen games tend to have. From’s designs and animations are distinctly them and I personally hope they never lose that spark.
No, I'm sorry, there's absolutely nothing aging in Elden Ring's graphics or even Dark Souls 3 graphics. From Software is a small studio with a lot of limitations and they do a bunch of incredible shit with their resources, time constraints and limitations. Bluepoint has Sony's infinite money to create their shit, so they MUST pay attention to everything, different then Shadow of the Colossus that had attention to nothing. These guys are AAA devs, it's EXPECTED to be like that. I hope that these extremely quality graphics don't come to us by sacrificing human life or human ethics (I'm looking at you, Dan Howser) but if you have THIS amount of money, THIS amount of people and THIS amount of founding: You HAVE to make good use of it. So, yeah, unfortunately Vaaty, I disagree with you here. Nothing about From Software's games is aging. Except World Tendency... This thing... ... Oh my god. smh warflashbacks
I don't like the Demon's Souls remake animations, and I think I understand why now. They're all incredibly overacted. Seeing it with real humans in spandex suits really drives home how silly the movements are.
Lmao your just a salty oldhead who doesn't wanna accept the fact that there's now a better version of your beloved game. Most players and journalists praise the remake for its animations and visuals.
@@CerealKiller Hmm, i didnt realize a 15 minute video literally just paraphrasing other people's work could be considered a "recommendation." Interesting.
So fun fact about the bow bash from Des, the animation it uses is actually the 2h straight sword r2. The same thing happens in the remake. It defaults to the straight sword moves when you're performing moves that technically aren't in the game in a way. Something similar also happens in ds1 if you try to use the move swap glitch with a fist weapon and end up two handing it. Since in ds1 there is no 2h fist weapon moveset, it defaults back to the straight sword one instead.
Thank you Vaati for your awesome videos. The souls series is my favorite series and your videos are full of everything I want to see. I can't wait to throw money to your Kickstarter and get that awesome Soul Arts book. Thanks again.

This is what I love to open my eyes and see on the morning while having to make a cup of tea
Yes and no. You can escape with mouse clicks in Dark Souls 1, but for some reason, no m/kb inputs work for escaping grabs in Dark Souls 3.
This was great, like going through recent suggestions, glad to see some new surprises and YT bringing people to those channels. Finding more secrets this far out is incredible, this community is amazing. Can't wait to put Soul Arts right next to the official set on the bookshelf. Cheers Vaati
Mt man ymfah getting the shoutout he deserves.
so... I know this is an old video, but at 0:12 the picture on the right-middle of the page look extremely similar to Enir-Ilim from SotE. I just think it's crazy they've had this design cooking in the oven for so long
Zullie been doing those amazing Insight-awarding short vids since forever.
Thank god she's getting some attention.
Also limit and his grandpa are awesome, too! Check em out :D
And Lance and the Soul Arts-artists as well, they're hella great!
This video is just an all star showcase for underrated souls and sekiro content creators.
illusory wall and zullie are some of my favourite channels
Absolute God tier vid as always. Vaati can always make me stop every at 4 am and go "Oh boy!"
Vaati never miss an opportunity to share his fame with the others youtube creators, that's why he's the best 🔥
He gets money off of showcasing other people's findings. Crediting them is the least that he can do.
7:00 i figured the Blue Point remake was done with tweaked mo-cap for the new looking animations, but holy shit they actually didnt tweak much for those riposte animations.
it puts away my theory that all those animations were done by hand, cuz they didnt look natural in
any way, shape, or form.
turns out the actual actor was just as unrealistic and moved as jank-ily as the animations ended up looking in the end.
im surprised a human was able to force themself to move as robotically as that.
I think we'll get a visual leap forward from From when they make their first non-crossgen title, Elden Ring is firmly entrenched in what the PS4 and XBO could do... It still looks fantastic, but it is held back by the hardware it was originally intended for.
Hopefully they'll use Unreal 5 for their next game.
11:10 I can already see ymfah's "Demon's Souls bow only run" omg
6:24 "Turns out, slaves are more entrenched in this game than I thought"
Me: oh no, not Another studio forcing development hell on their workers :(
"As you head up to fight Allant, the final boss, take a look at the elevator. Hidden in the mechanism are two slave soldiers..."
Me: oh, thank god, just elevator slaves! *Phew*
Can we take a moment to appreciate the motion capture team? They're awesome. They did an incredible job.
Haha ratchet and clank enemies 😂😂. That is so true. Everyone in the remake looks like they are made out of rubber.
A vaati video just before breakfast? Today's my lucky day
I cant wait for all the secrets to find in elden ring!
I love how it just starts, no intro, no stupid ads, no personal stories just drops you into content, similar to a game we all know and love….
"Bloodborne has poison rolling!"
Me, who's watched Ymfah's pacifist Bloodborne video: *laughs in pain*
Vaati, I got the add for Soul Arts kickstarter on this video and did not notice it was an add. Good looking book, Might get the PDF, I have no room to preserve the physical copy.
To the community, thank you for your hard work.
And Backed.
11:11 instagram models photos vs their real face
4:20 same happened in destiny 2 during the atraks-1 encounter in the deep stone crypt raid: she has multiple copies of herself, so the real health bar comes from another enemy hidden away, but if you placed a titan shield at her feet you could actually see the damage numbers occurring on the realt enemy, and by placing yourself between a door and stasis cristals and casting your super you could glitch through the door and go kill the actual boss skipping the encounter mechanichs
So basically, this whole video was a shoutout to other souls creators. Vaati really needs elden ring to come out ASAP
Watching vaati give a shoutout to ymfah and ongbal does put a smile on my face
8:30 Bluepoint does have great animations and graphics but the artstyle changes they made to demons souls are generic as hell so hopefully fromsoft dont get too influenced by them
idk, visually it is the best looking souls game and i just really like how it looks
1:41 the house be like: Bro, I am sooo high rn
Damn Vaati, this was 100% other youtubers' work and footage.
I guess it's good for their exposure tho ...
Imma be 100 with you chief. The fact that elden ring looks more like DS3 than Demon Souls Remake makes me and my friend happy since we're still runing last gen specs on our PCs and we will be able to play the game thanks to that.
The Souls series has had one of the biggest impacts on lives than most other game series or game in the world. Can't wait for Elden Ring
Minecraft and Tetris:
Are we a joke to you?
@@GBlockbreaker shhh i'm just showing my love for these games. Didn't really think too hard when writing this comment 🤣 but the souls series is definitely up there with them
As much as I love them, no...
@@iwantthekidsbackkaren5525 read my comment again... yes
@@Iam2001 definitely not
The Fifth King segment reminds me of a Raid in Destiny 2, Deep Stone Crypt. There's an encounter involving a bunch of clones, and outside the arena is a solitary, standard enemy that "stores" the boss's health bar. People used to be able to cheese the fight by glitching outside the arena proper and attacking this standard enemy.

Gotta disagree here. I'll take good art design over grafix any day. If their engines were more like Bethesda (where grafix are the least of its problems) then I'd call for an overhaul. As it is, if it ain't broke...
That motion actor with the beard really nailed it. What a king.
this'll be exciting, will edit after watching about how it was
edit: loved it and didn't know they had raytracing videos out! gonna watch those too, and good luck on the Kickstarter!
Finally some love for Ongbal on this channel!!! Dude is the most satisfying Sekiro player I’ve ever seen
Are you seriously bashing From Software compared to Bluepoint? They recreated an entire game in a vision not of the original developers, instead of creating their own video game like every other game company does that piggy-backed off the success of Dark Souls.
And don't forget what brought you all this fame and fortune in the community, FROM SOFTWARE.
Vaati: "Y'know, I wonder when Fromsoft will update their graphics"
Me, who has only ever played Dark Souls 3 with 20 or less FPS: "pls no I wanna play your games"
Fr it’s bad enough that Elden ring is 150 gigabytes
@losveratos the amount of time he spends for his projects is really too much in this video, that's true
Yeah I get advertising is important but maybe just cut it down a bit.
Guess that means whatever fromsoft did in 2008-2009 created the illusion of realism more than bluepoint did in 2019-2020
So glad this video reminded me about the Kickstarter, I forgot and I almost missed it.
And again vaati you have proven why you're one of my favorite channels. The tone of your voice along with the presentation is perfect!
Lol From is AAA. I wish I had a small studio of 316 people
Oh and Bluepoint has 90 people FYI
Dudes voice is soo damn smooth and when combined with souls lore it’s like a bedtime story that puts me right out. Love it
I don't like the Demon's Souls remake animations, and I think I understand why now.
@@du6636 well, if most players and "journalists" (lol) say so...
Vatati apreciating soulsborne creators is perfection!
Stop giving this guy money, he comes up with nothing original himself and makes so much money.
You're right, in part. Some time ago his discoveries were 100% originals. Now it's an anthology of other' s work
12:05 you don't know how much I needed that
Literally this entire video is just a mediocre rehashing of content from other channels, wtf? I'll never understand how he gets away with this shit
The graphics in fromsoft games has a unique and recognizable feel to them, bluepoints version looks like generic crap.
The quality of those artworks looks genuinely amazing!
Thank you Vaati for your awesome videos. The souls series is my favorite series and your videos are full of everything I want to see. I can't wait to throw money to your Kickstarter and get that awesome Soul Arts book. Thanks again.
Just pledged for Soul Arts earlier today as a birthday present for myself. Love your stuff Vaati =D
The Dark Souls designworks are amazing... Cost a rib and a kidney online though.
Thank Gwyn I managed to get the one from DS1 early.
I love the art and the interview is a real treat
2:34 Is that Matt typing? Two of my favorite RUclips lads in one video!
I read somewhere you can buy the art book after the campaign. However, I just love the art so much and how much work you are putting in Vaati and publisher. So since I got paid yesterday, I got the tier that has the slipcase. To be honest, it was the narration and the bookmark that gave me the needed push.
ngl that final bonus secret will change my life forever. Once again, thank you Vaati
I really like all the shoutouts to the channels! Even limit breakers!
Ymfah getting a Shout out is that most beautiful thing !!
