I just did some research and the WP-1 is NOT an underwater camera, it is weatherproof. there is a camera that looks almost identical to the WP-1 that is called the AS-1 which has the underwater capabilities.
@@benjhaischi’ve checked manuals, urs (sureshot a1/prima as-1) has all the capabilities, the manual for the WP-1 however, says it is only able to have rain and water splashes for it is NOT an underwater camera at all.
Canon A1 Sure Shot and WP1 are two different cameras. The A1 is waterproof. The WP1 is only weatherproof. I have both cameras and I am the original owner of both. I am enjoying your videos.
I love my SureShot A-1, according to the Canon Camera Museum they were 42,000 yen (over $406) new in 1994 so it wasn't cheap, at all when it was new. I find the thing produces excellent images.
I'm multi-published and i have used this cam for some of my favorite shots. it's really robust and you can just take it anywhere. I like the flash function. it auto rewinds too.
I have the same camera, I bought it a couple of years ago for just $300 mexican pesos (that´s 14 dls I think)in super neat conditions. It´s like a playskool camera, but trust me If you find one you should not hesitate to buy it.
Heh, my uncle got a sureshot wp1 back in the 90s b/c of those Marlboro miles and gave it to my family as he wasn't going to use it. Recently decided to dig it out of the crate of stuff I have and sure enough it fired right up with a new battery. Has an expired roll of 800 iso film that my mom had put in but never used lol.
Great review. I just picked this camera up at my local Goodwill for 10 bucks. I didn’t realize what I had until I started checking reviews out. Looking forward to putting some film through it.
Hi greetings from Austria. I got this Camera in the 90's from my parents as a birthday present. And i still have it. Maybe i shout buy a roll of film and make some nice pictures. Thanks for making this Video because i totally forgot that i still have this camera.
Nice vid!!! My aunt just gave me one of the first sure shot Wp-1 that used to belong to my uncle when he was in the navy in the 90’s (makes sense thats waterproof lol) turned it on and it works. Can’t wait 2 get some cool shots w this.
Cool video! Am i tripping or was this camera actually retailed at $40 a couple years ago?? I just bought one for $120 , and I’m seeing them go for $140-$200 now!!!
As1 and wp1 is the same camera. It had been produced in Japan and after three years, production moved to China. China factory had problem with narrow toleranes and could not meeting spec. To avoid claim, Canon decided to change ip rating to lower.
Hey, I just got my self a Nikonos IV and I'll be using it in a couple of weeks, however... does anybody have some tips for manual focusing and lightning (flash vs video lights) underwater? Thanks!
Yall I have a question. Do you encounter any Issues with a 36exp Film Roll? Some People told me its to "weak" to rewind the whole roll and recommended me to only use 24exp rolls.
I had the nikonos v and want it again, but the big advantage to this canon is weight. The nikonos is a literal brick and not as much fun to bring along.
Em vừa được ông chú tặng cái máy này khi mở ra ô nắp chứa phim thì mới chụo được còn đóng lại thì không và cuộn phin cũng không tự động cuộn lại là bị gì vậy
I have a question about film photography in general, forgive me if you’ve already covered this before but I just found your channel a few days ago and subscribed! I’ve been shooting digital for about 5 years now but was curious about film so I bought my first film camera this week, it’s a Nikon F3. My question is, do you develop your own film or is there a place you would recommend that I can send my film to be developed?
Well... I'm not the one you asked, but in my experience, it depends on what you shoot and what do you plan to do with those images. If it is some professional or important work, better to have the roll developed in a pro lab, if it is just personal stuff, develop them yourself (you'll need at least a scanner besides the developing tank). Also, after some time developing and printing my own images... I find te whole dark room experience to be as (if not, more) funny than the actual shooting.
Hello!!! Film won’t load. And the frame counter stucked at letter S. Any tips? The flash works fine, though. Its just that I cant use it because the film wont load 🥲
Might be worth making sure the film leader is pulled across far enough. The counter will reset to S when the back is opened , and the counter will only advance if the film has engaged properly . If you can get your hands on an old film just to check/practice with it might be worth it
I saw your video and I fell in love with the camera, I live in Brazil so I went to search to buy and to my surprise, the price was R$1000 (approximately $ 200) and wow ... hahahah

thank you so much I just realized that I have the WP-1 camera. I would have took it into a body of water
Fwiw, I’ve taken mine underwater a ton of times with no issues, but never more than probably 5 feet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Depends on the weather but gold 200 or ColorPlus 200 are favorites
