ethan hawke once said that life should be like a sunday afternoon - you should have a plan and be willing to abandon that plan completely. maybe book challenges are the same way xxx
I feel you when it comes to perfectionism. I have to continually remind myself it's the trying and the intention that matters most. You did an incredible job with this reading challenge, Ally ... and in such HEAT! In my "book," that makes you a reading hero and deserving of a medal!
I'm impressed at how fast you read honestly. I don't think I could read that many books in 24 hours, but now I'm interested in seeing how much I can. Also that shirt is so cute! I want it!
i am literally obsessing over these readathons they’re more productive and i love it. and i love like the “disclaimer” that everyone enjoys different things and that’s what makes books amazing there’s something for everyone :)))❤️
I love the theme/takeaway from the challenge! I have perfectionist tendencies too, so learning to appreciate small victories instead of feeling let down by not meeting an internalized metric or past "standard" is hard! Also, love that you enjoyed "Psalm"! The sequel just came out if you need another hit of cozy comfort 🤖💜
I'm training for a half marathon and your comments on pace and perfectionism hit hard for me, here's me thinking throughout the video 'you're doing great, stop being so hard on yourself I couldn't read for 24 hours' but never thinking that about my own efforts?!?! Humans are stoopid
I love your videos and I am a woman in her mid 50's who has had my eyes opened to a whole lot of new books so thank you. Also I succumbed to the dreaded covid for the first time too last week so I am glad you are on the mend. I am now binging all your previous videos, stay well ❤
Omg! I did some digging into the Penpal book because it sounded familiar, and I realized that it sounded familiar because I read it years ago when it was just a creepypasta!! Oh my goodness it scared the hell out of me but I read the whole thing in a few hours. That is so wild that it’s a book now!!
PENPAL!!! It’s one of my favorite recommends I’m so happy you enjoy it!!! Also I was so excited for mail time and felt your pain when it wasn’t there 😆
Followed you since you were a tween and love that your personality still shines in your videos. Love the editing. Love the sass. Just love you overall 🥹
Becky Chambers!!! I almost put that book down right before the monk met the robot. Picked it back up about a month later and I'm so glad!!! I loved the conversations the two had in the last third of the book, and I read the entire section from robot-meeting to the end in one sitting. Also I love that shirt design!!!!!
A 40 min video?? What a treat! 🧡 This was really enjoyable to watch and I def added “Penpal” to my TBR. I have a question: what do you listen to when you wear your headphones while you read? I’ve seen a few people do this and it confuses me bc sounds while I read are distracting, unless you use them to block sound…?
Always appreciate the time, effort and creativity that you put into your vlogs. Also really appreciate your positive and realistic view point on mental health and motivational struggles.
I feel like you are going to love reading The Island of Missing Trees, it is my favourite book of all time!! It’s so beautiful, but you definitely need to be in the right headspace, so take your time! I love this challenge, I might try doing it myself cause I can definitely relate to these feelings of perfectionism and not wanting to “read too slow”, as if I always have to perform all the time, even for myself 😒 Anyways love this video, thanks for always cheering me up Ally ❤️
So glad you loved A Psalm for the Wild Built! It's been my fave read of 2022! And the sequel is out in a matter of days, I'm so ready! Also the snail shirt is AMAZING!
i had it at the same time and am still recovering! just discovered your channel and am absolutely obsessed! your content is so relatable and i learn something new every time
I relate so hard to what you said about trying to fit yourself into able bodied neurotypical boxes when trying is the hardest part and you're trying your best AUGH yeah!! As a fellow autistic migraine haver that hit hard. I definitely love this idea of doing 24 hours over 3 days as well, such a good way of doing it!
I read the Lesbiana's guide to catholic school thanks to you and it was SO GOOD. Thank you so much for the amazing recs and videos ✨ Hope you're feeling better!
i had to wait all day through work until i could watch your new video - i have never wanted a day to be over so fast before in my life. i love you videos so so much✨💛
I'm so behind with my reading and the summer splash readathon vlog I'm filming but this reminded me its okay to go at my own pace thank you ally lovely video as always
thank you for making such comforting videos. i was having a lot of anxiety today for a number of different reasons and this made me feel a lot better ♥
you are possibly the cutest person I’ve ever seen on this app. I love you and your energy. Your videos are so fun and entertaining to watch. Keep doing what you doin bae❤️
the fact you managed to read at all!!! You are a strong one. Congrats on the sponsorship!!!!!! Btw i don't know how feasible it is for you, but i live in Brasil and for summer we got a portable a/c unit. Is it loud? Yes, but oh my god a life saver. (I would also rec a bowl of water and ice in front of the fan)
I live is AZ so I completely feel your pain about the heat. Over 100°F is just another day in the summers of Arizona and I am not a fan. I just got my garage door fixed to I can park my car in the shade and it is a game changer for me and my son when we go into town.
Congrats on Being an AL ambassador! You just made me feel "not SO old" - I don't remember the last time I did something past 7 pm either! A psalm for the wild built is the first in a trilogy. 😊 "With all of the BOOM that I could!" also Merch
I remember during your ftfk days you had just started summer break and you were filming with your then boyfriend, exclaiming how excited you were to just read and him retorting that it was lame! I’n sure it was a joke but I personally would have been annoyed by that comment lol. Now you have such a loving and supportive partner who thinks your love for books is awesome and it just made me think that we can all find someone who celebrates us and what we love to do. The GROWTH ❤️
So fun! I loved this video! I just ordered Lonely Castle in the Mirror and Taaqtumi. I am so ready to chew through them! Also, I cannot wait for the snail shirt :)
The heat this year has been brutal! Could you get a portable air conditioner delivered to Belgium (not a window one but one that just connects a hose out a window and is moveable)? Every video is like a big hug of comfort, especially with the kitty cameos!
I loved this so much 🐌 almost as much as I love your snail shirts 🐌 Thank you for all these new TBRs. I recently finished Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow. AND I loved it. Highly recommend.
I've known Ana Luisa for ages and you are the first one that actually makes me want to buy all of it - not only am I totally vibing with the selection of pieces, but you actually highlight all the right things - work iiiiit, girl! Are the opal necklace and the zodiac necklace stackable, or are they the same length?
aww this is such a compliment & you can totally stack! these necklaces have different options where you can clasp it so you have some choice in length ☺️
The last day of the heat wave, my neurodiverse little self was in such a state, my husband drove a half hour into the city at ten pm to bring me Chinese food. I can almost always be fixed with food.
Currently watching this in April 2023 and I got covid for the first time so I completely relate you u! I mean it’s been over three years at this point 😮
I always want to annotate my books more, but what usually holds me back is, that if I didn't end up liking a book that much, I'm giving it away after finishing it. And I think people don't like to get books that have underlined and marked parts in them, because I'm also always happy, if I find used books in good condition. What's your opinion on that? (Everbody feel free to comment.)
personally, i LOVE buying used books with annotations! if anything I look for old beat up books. shows the book was loved IMO. i think its so interesting to see what the person before me thought. it also helps with classics, as previous annotations can help dissect the text. that's just me tho :) hope this helped
Oh my gosh. I can’t believe you have never read flowers for Algernon until now! My school had us read that in 9th grade, so in my mind everyone had to 🤣
I got covid two weeks ago too after all this time. Luckily it was mild. Also living the heat wave that melts my skin and flesh, wishing that the summer ends xD (I'm from Spain).I'm adding the books you have read to my wishlist! On other note, Ana Luisa caught my eye a long time ago and I'm planning on getting some earrings (love the ones you got), the only downside for me it's that they have little silver options. I really love many of the gold jewelry they have but it would be awesome if they made it also in silver since I'm not a gold person, it doesn't suit me as well and I like silver more.
so sad you didn't like Shara Wheeler but that passage you read in All My Rage had me in TEARS! I've always wanted to do a 24 hours readathon but similar reasons kept me from going through so I may use this method!! :)
This is sooo late but this was me in September 2022, I went through the flu to COVID-19 pipeline and I was confused if I had the flu or covid. Turns out I had both!! But I was in the same comical spot of being sick-free and dodging COVID skillfully until one day I just got terribly sick.
I have exactly the same thoughts about Riley Sager books. Are they the best every time? Nah, but I always have a good time. Also, I would highly recommend giving other books by Becky Chambers a shot. To Be Taught If Fortunate and her Wayfarers series are superb.
a 40 minute long allisonpaiges video!?! we are being FED

1. Love the hair! She is the moment! 2. We love an astrology girly 3. Please drop a reading playlist! I never know what to listen to when I'm reading!
19:09 The dead fly brings it all together 💀😭
i’ve never looked at a 40 min video and audibly screamed in joy before, yet here we are💀
i am literally obsessing over these readathons they’re more productive and i love it. and i love like the “disclaimer” that everyone enjoys different things and that’s what makes books amazing there’s something for everyone :)))❤️
A 40 minute video?? Thank you queen we cherish you. (Hope you're doing okay!!)

Oh my goodness it scared the hell out of me but I read the whole thing in a few hours. That is so wild that it’s a book now!!
Congrats on the Ana Luisa ambassadorship that is flippin awesome!! They have really cool jewelry. ☺️
PENPAL!!! It’s one of my favorite recommends I’m so happy you enjoy it!!!
Also I was so excited for mail time and felt your pain when it wasn’t there 😆
I LOVE the concept of breaking up the 24 hours! I'm also very routine and sleep schedule dependent, I might have to try this out!
Followed you since you were a tween and love that your personality still shines in your videos. Love the editing. Love the sass. Just love you overall 🥹

I absolutely LOVE your videos and now that it's longer, I am feeling over the moon! Thank you so much for your effort! I hope you feel better!

nothing but respect for MY presidents
I loved this readathon and your editing abilities! Also loved the video games music/sound effects, they do fit a lot.
A 40 min video?? What a treat! 🧡 This was really enjoyable to watch and I def added “Penpal” to my TBR.
I have a question: what do you listen to when you wear your headphones while you read? I’ve seen a few people do this and it confuses me bc sounds while I read are distracting, unless you use them to block sound…?
noise cancellation and sometimes instrumental music or brown noise ☺️
Always appreciate the time, effort and creativity that you put into your vlogs. Also really appreciate your positive and realistic view point on mental health and motivational struggles.
❤️‼️ i really appreciate your comment
get those coins queen! get those sponsorships! also u make me feel seen so thank u 💕

what do you listen to when you read?
The last day of the heat wave, my neurodiverse little self was in such a state, my husband drove a half hour into the city at ten pm to bring me Chinese food. I can almost always be fixed with food.

I love the new T-shirts. I will definitely be buying one when you release them. I got pet snails because of you!!!!
Omg! You should listen to the no sleep podcast adaptation of Penpal. It's INCREDIBLE and there are sound effects which makes it even more chilling.
This channel is my happy place on the Internet! Thank you so much Ally!!

Omg that dead fly in your mailbox was just salt in the wound! That made me laugh, I’m so sorry!
RIDICULOUSLY tempted to do this challenge
