  • Today on Buckle Up Harry drives the all new Mercedes Benz Citan, a small van that shares it's underpinnings with the Renault Kangoo and Nissan Townstar. He will find out how it drives, how much you can fit in the back, howuch it is to run and most importantly if it's the right van for you and your business?
Up against rivals such as the Vauxhall Combo, Fiat Doblo, Renault Kangoo, Nissan Townstar, Peugeot Partner, Citroen Berlingo, Ford Transit Courier and Toyota Proace City does the Merc have what it takes?

A Mercedes shell with a Renault engine. Might as well get a kangoo exactly same vehicle and often find cheaper

Woefully underpowered and shyte electrics. Had one on loan for a few weeks and the alarm kept going off overnight as there was a drain on the battery. They gave me a different one to use and the same happened with that one. Poor security with only a top catch on the rear doors. Horrible snatchy brakes.

The performance and power line up almost exactly with class average. The alarm never sounded on this one incorrectly. Again there isn't a van in this class with significantly better security as standard and the brakes were good and progressive, I can only assume you're used to driving something much older to make that comment but then that doesn't line up with you expecting it to be more secure and powerful

@@BuckleUpShow VW have a 120hp Caddy, and this was a year ago i had this issues so they may have sorted it. I guess its Renault so to be expected really. 🤣 And also, VW have a lower catch on the barn doors.

Caddy is a size class up from this 👍

@@BuckleUpShow Whichever way you look at it, Renault and Nissan use the exact same engine and yet offer higher outputs, and the Caddy is its nearest Rival, so with that in mind, they are in the same class.

It's nearest rival would be the Ford Transit Courier and then the Vauxhall Combo/Toyota Proace City/Citroen Berlingo/Peugeot Partner/Fiat Doblo. All of those vans offer a version around 20k with around 100 bhp.
Also if you want a more powerful Merc there is the e-citan
