Joe Satriani held a free concert and workshop at Sweetwater's Performance Theatre on March 22, 2010. Here's a song that Joe Satriani played during the concert titled "Summer Song". - Видеоклипы
Joe Satriani is THE GUITAR HERO!. Period. Respect.
100%
GUITAR GOD. SMOKING JOE
💯💯💯💯💯💯🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I remember watching Satriani back in the 80’s and just marveling at all of the aspects of his playing. At 49 I sit here thinking man nothing has changed, this guy is still an amazingly, tasty, bluesy, technical wizard on guitar!
Yes glad he is still doing it , its a timeless feeling to get to see Joe after all these years I to being in my 50s still draw good vibes from this dude, never stop Joe go go go!
That tapped me right in the feels. Not a religious person, but I believe in positive energy. Satriani explodes with it through his music.
I don't think he is admired as much for his incredible technique as he is for his profound lyrical ability. Pure genius.
no matter how complex the technique he still retains a bluesy sound and feel ... he just has soul 😊
i see this video 5 times per week and never get bored ....
Me 100 times
Everyone at Sweetwater looking at the stage like he's an alien or something...one of his best songs for sure!
He IS an ALIEN ! :/ I mean... Satriani, Yyngwie, Vai... Those guys come from another place.
ITALY FOR 2 out of 3. Yep...Steve is Italian. Im half.....the lower half !
@@garyssimodon't forget Vito Bratta makes 3 Italians
Quantum physics, they are stunned and speechless. The crowd is full of musicians trying to comprehend based on their own experience, not a bunch of teenagers with no experience at all that just freak out.
Anyone who doesn't bow to the greatness of this perfomance is simply off-planet!
How can the audience just sit there perfectly still? This guy ROCKS!
Lol right
No leg muscles dude, they're all bedroom guitarists - effects pedals, scales and half formed teenage daydreams, the stuff that keeps guitar shops in business
Its called a chair. They are made for sitting and when they are available they are preferable to standing :)
They were too amazed to move. That's what happens at a Joe concert. You sit there perfectly still and quiet, so you don't miss a single note. It's like nothing you've seen. Well, that's how it was when I've seen Joe live.
@@william6084 effect pedals and scales are a bad thing ? I love the guitar as it is the most expressive instrument and I'm a fool for great tone and effects , so what are you some kind of guitar master that dosent require any gear ?
I think the thing that sets Joe apart from all other instrumental only guitar players is that HE JUST FLAT OUT WRITES GOOD TUNES !! This being no exception.
He is a master of melody, no doubt about it.
And his creativity is unparalleled
Nintariz I say the same thing about Jimi Hendrix. I think he’s been surpassed, but he was the first. For that matter, Joe Satriani quit football and dedicated his life to the guitar when he heard that Hendrix died.
I appreciate steve vais skill and speed and everything he does is amazing technically speaking but joe for me is number 1, his music is so much better on the ear than steves is, even tho vai is a techical genius, like his teacher joe, joes musical knowledge is far greater than steves in my opinion and u can tell through his music he is the king of melody no doubt about that and my number 1 guitarist of all time
Absolutely..many guys out there can play fast and are technically brilliant, but few can actually compose a beautiful sounding song on a guitar from start to finish as well!
My favorite Satch song and one of my favorite songs EVER
Huge Van Halen fan. This boy is bad to this day. Thank you!
Such control over the guitar. Always impresses me, seeing Satch.
Best wah-wah usage I've ever seen.Have a long and a great life Joe Satriani.
Man his sound/tone sounded so great. The wah was perfect, very excellent.
I liked the bit with the guitar 😻😻😻
When the camera pans the audience I just can't believe how stoic they are!! Joe is the ultimate guitar GOD and they're just looking at him like that scene in Back To The Future when Michael J. Fox plays Chuck Berry and they have no idea what the hell it is!! :-o
I know! I don't care WHAT type of audience is hearing this, there should be someone looking somewhat pleased.
In their defense (if I may be so bold, lol), it does appear to be a classroom setting instead of a concert setting. And, they did seem to appreciate his playing with some enthusiastic applause at the end. But again, not like a concert.
That's the price that technologies bring. Yeah, they help in many ways but the "feel" is missing from the place. Its the human element that makes music...and they should have turned the lights down except on him...
I saw this tour live back in the day and it was not nearly so mechanical - although he is freaking better now than then, even.
They're frozen in fear and admiration. Lol.
Tom Fortin it´s easy... he´s just a guitar god... but his music don´t transmit nothing "more" than how good and technical he is. He could name this song summer in venus, or walking in the moon insteado summer song, and you won´t see any difference. Music is a question of transmit moods, identify your sensations with the music, to tell something.. and people even freaky guitar fans are never identified with his songs... could you go walking through the street whistling this song as a a feeling of summer???? You are simply impressed by his mastering of guitar, so that´s why people just simply watch.. but music is much more than that... there has to be a story to tell, and Satriani as other guitar herores have only one story to tell, that is, they are "gods" technically, nothing more. Just fireworks. Unless he is a real source of inspiration and learning for other musicians more "limited".
To see that song performed live with all the nuances and phrasing is awesome. His efficiency on the neck is unparalleled. Taking nothing away from shredders, his flurry of notes is like an intricate carving versus a whittled stick.
What a killer song, insane guitarist
Us old corporate types still love to rock and roll. We just hurt ourselves doing it. We still love great music and Joe Satriani is one of my favorites. Make a guitar cry and you have my heart. I grew up with Jimi Hendrix.
This was the first "Solo Guitar God" type song I ever heard, and it's one of the songs that inspired me to pick up the guitar. That was nearly 30 years ago. I'm still not that good, but the guitar has been good to me these last 28 years, so thanks, Joe.
Same as me. I was also mesmerized by what I heard. When I first heard this song, I was like - wwwwhhhhaaaatttttt!!!
Not just notes (of course lot of notes), but CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY. it is crazy playing. So melodic too at the same time. Speed, technicality, blues, phrases, rhythmic, harmonics, crazy whammy, you name it, it is all there in 1 song. That too, so exotically beautiful.
Joe is my all-time favorite rock instrumentalist. Always interesting to listen to, every note counts.
The same. He had me at the solo of Blue Dream. I have been in love ever since.
,,,,,,......,,,,,....... A MASTER AT WORK .............................whipping out one of his most distinguished anthems,,,,..
Simply the best!
Flawless, what else can I say. Joe's one of the guitar gods that are worthy of our respect.
yea,,the art of bendin two strings,simmo.....
@@Ignigknok Satch's and even Vai's music are for comic book reading geeks with Cheetos stained fingers who spend all day on their XBox.
@@BillDerBerg Well then, I guess I'm a comic book reading geek with Cheeto stained fingers who spends all day playing my Xbox, because I love Satriani's music... and I don't even read comic books, eat Cheetos, or play an Xbox!

His guitarr playing goes right in to my soul. Such a talent. Eva from Gothenburg Sweden
The electric guitar was invented so that it would be ready for this man.
Wow!! JOE… I’ve been listening to you for 30+ years. YOU STILL AMAZE ME!
Joe S is incredible!
He's a phenomenon. Such skill. So many albums and they're all good. Some better than others. I love him as an artist and not just as a musician.
A genius! The best guitar player ever! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
No one even comes close to the guitar talent of Joe Satriani. And he doesn't 'flaunt it' like most other performers!
Really that's as pure a melody as Freeway Jam
oh my god. just discovering this guy. and he's...freaking...amazing... eargasm :OOO oh my goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood. this is insane. oh man that genius. i cant believe the emotionless crowddd! i was like wtheck is the satch. and after listening this is the freakin SATCH BABY! whoo!
xhyungxjinx your so lucky to just discover satch so much great stuff to listen to
Enjoy. I jumped on board the week Surfing With The Alien came out. Joe just gets better and better. You have bought a ticket to one wild ride!
Ur not gonna be disappointed 😎
this song always makes me wanna practice & try to improve my playing.
It's like you've got your ear pressed to the speaker and you can hear every note and he's still playing it perfectly.
Awesome!!!
Most people would have no idea how difficult that performance is and it was almost flawless. Satch is the King of Tunes. And a superb human too.
He's amazing. We are so fortunate to have here with us.
SATCH STILL ROCKING THA WAHHHHHHHHHH
I think I remember being introduced to this song for the first time on a Sony Sports Walkman commercial.
Man on fire!!!!
First heard this played on G3 live album with Steve Vai and Eric Johnson early 90's. Sounds note for note the same, the effect it has on a 13 year olds brain 🧠 🤯🎸🤟
Very bluesy, feelgood playing.
To all the peeps dissing the audience - you do realize that to really really appreciate a song you need to LISTEN to it, that's why they aren't screaming and shouting appreciation DURING the song. They have the maturity to sit back and enjoy it unlike many of you posting here. The applause at the end IS enthusiastic.
Oh yeah I'm over 40 and grew up with some of the greatest rock music ever to be created.
Damn,Dude!!! You are the Best!!!
Joe Satriani is a virtuoso. I'm loving these Sweetwater videos.
WOW.. Sounds just like the studio / radio version.. I'M SO IMPRESSED BY GREATNESS!!
No one is better than Joe. The audience just sits there stunned out of their minds. They can't believe what they are seeing.
Awesome... the guy still blows my mind! His grasp of tonality is astonishing and physical ability/technique is just mind-boggling.
So awesome! I think it's his best song!
I can listen to this all day everyday on repeat & it never gets old!!!! Just Freaking FANTASTIC!!!!!!
Mind blowing stuff even 25-30 years later
The guy's a wizard!
Satch in undoubtedly as important as EVH for modern guitar. He takes it to another level with his fretboard art. I think he might even be one of the most technically proficient ever.
Just the BEST i have all his records from a portuguese fan ...
Thank you for sharing these awesome Satriani vids! Totally awesome to watch him play from this perspective!
TIME TO WELCOME SUMMER IN. What better way than with one of my all time favorite songs and mucician.Love this song WALES !
James Maceroni Sorry brother Wales is a part of the UK, the word you're looking for is wails .......
Terrance Hill hahaha thanks for the correction rock on bro.I don,t know about you but I,m having a hell of a time trying to find a drummer.

Very true to the studio version brilliant guitarist love it .
Can listen day and night to this song
those vibratos, ah i would do anything to be able play like him, true icon
It’s in the fingers man
Keep practicing ...you will
Agree. His guitarplaying goes right in to the soul. Such a talent. Eva from Gothenburg Sweden
@@gavanhillebold3131 yes..its like he has more than five fingers to play like this. It sounds like he has like almost nine . His guitar playing goes right in to my soul. Love...surfing with the alien too. All best to you. Sorry for my english. Eva from Gothenburg Sweden
Eva Fohlin ♥️
Should be illegal to play guitar that damn good. Amazing virtuoso.
It really isn't that difficult to play such as this, it takes dedication and lots of practice.

I'm watching dis at 6am...I need a beer!
Me at 5am.. had a few beers, need more lol. Cheers!
Have one ...cheers!!!!!!!!
Exactly. And the applause after every song he played was deafening. Not a low-level subdued smattering. Sweetwater really turned the applause volume down when they mixed these videos.
What an amazing performance
He plays the guitar like a child plays with his toy! Amazing
Satchnmay not be a total shredder, but he plays like no other. He puts so much feeling into his song, its awesome.
But he IS a total shredder. Check "Flying in a blue dream" about 1:45 into it.
Satriani is not a shredder, but he has some great tunes. I could name a lot of guys that "shred" and Satriani is not one of them. He is a solid performer though, and puts a lot thought into his work.
Rob T
Paul Gilbert and those types are shredders, Satriani is not.
Rob T
I don't smoke and I know a thing or two about music theory.
My definition of shredder is someone who plays a million miles an hour cleanly yet is boring as fuck to listen to. Satriani is not boring.
If your definition of shredder differs from mine that's cool, we agree to disagree. Now go pound some sand.
I'm totally with you. He can play very fast and fluid but he's always more musical than the so called shredders. I mean I don't think his goal is to show off, but to share what he's got in soul....I don't smoke , by the way; :)
For my money, no better writer/guitarist is out there today than Joe.
Thank you joe ,for your music still got it 20 years later, simply amazing
indonesia likes you joe...awesome
Joko Listanto 🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨
it's a theatre guys, not a rock concert. at a theatre you sit and enjoy the music, then go nuts when they've finished to show your enjoyment.
+ben6993 Maybe they didn't enjoy it. After all, it's a boring tune, and Joe was playing to track, not w/a band.
+ben6993 Sorry can't agree here, the venue is Irrelevant, saw Tony Bennett in a "Theater" and he got 4 standing ovations because he was that good for his music, and an icon. So, Joe deserves no more or less for his place and his playing that day. I guess it is what you are brought to do in concerts, definitely seeing a pattern with age on this one, and I am only ten years younger than Joe S. Just embarrassing, but I doubt he will play there again:)
Indeed. Rightly spotted. Think it was an exhibition of sumthing similar. Anyway, what an unbelievable talent. Been knowing this song featuring on ''The extremist'' for more than 25 years now. It's like good wine. Never ageeing. A monument. Actually the whole album is real diamond and probably its best.
What a GREAT song. One of Joe's best.
I need to see this video once per weak or more to keep living!! this is awsome!
monstruo!
That's why my orders late from Sweetwater! Their all busy watching Joe Satriani in the theater...... JUST TEASING..... Sweetwater is never been late with my orders ...... I'm just jealous what these guys have in terms of job Percs.
That's so amazing! Joe is great at what he does and that's riff that guitar!
Just perfect! Thanks fo that
Pay attention Kirk Hammett, this is how to effectively use a whah whah
Ya he is like the weakest of all his students! Steve Turned out Great tho
hummm... i really like how Kirk use the wha on the S&M Concert tho
What's with the fading between camera shots??! Trying to study his technique and it keeps being interrupted!
And if they did a better job on the camera you could play like Joe? Dont think so.
Did I say that. No. Stop assuming. No one can play like Joe. Being a "workshop" it's in the name (work); in order to study and learn. Back in your hole troll.
Yea just what I thought. Stupid is as stupid does!! You proved it. lol
Go read a book you silly boy...
john stauff Well he did not say anything about being just like Joe just studying techniques on how he can improve. Simple as that.
This man will NEVER get old. O.O
Thank You !
Is that an audience or an oil painting? I hope they were at least tapping their toes.
Seeing everyone just sitting there instead of rocking out is one of the most depressing things I've ever seen.
MisfitTroy It's a technical demonstration.......It's not a rock concert, it's musicians, mostly guitarists, absorbing as much as they can from Satriani. These people are there to see, HOW and WHY to play music, how it's structured, and the technical aspects of the performance. The crowd seems dull to those who are listening as a fan, the crowd is listening as students listen to a professor.
The Rock factor of Satriani doth be missing
Witnesses to a musical genius is like seeing the northern lights for the first time....incredible... you just take it all in. Nuff said
This is what an older white boss would book to "blow the minds" of the DJs half his age.
I am a Musician and I listen to music to listen to it, not jump around.
i never get tired to listen this one....
the outro was incredible wow
Lol that crowd. They look like they're in a women's lit survey class
Have any of you ever attended a music workshop?....A guitar workshop?.....THAT'S a crowd of GUITAR players in awe, and studying the techniques, and just as Joe said, how to use ONE guitar, to hold the audiences attention, as well as demonstrate a solid understanding of WAH pedal mechanics, and pedal points. It's not a Rock concert, it's an instructional seminar, that just happens to be Joe Satriani on guitar..........I actually love these workshops, as you get to watch the guitarist perform their songs, showcasing technique, melodic improvisation, and just DAMN GOOD guitar playing!...To attend these workshops, and jump up and down, and act like it's a concert at a festival is RUDE, CLASSLESS, AND DISRESPECTFUL TO THE ARTIST.
The stunned audience. Yeah they're mostly guitar players. Stunned guitar players. That's decades of woodshedding right there.
oh make no mistake, when he's FINISHED, people should be going nuts! I was commenting on people cheering while he was playing and NOT finished....Satch is brilliant, and people should show that appreciation!
3:31 - lots of mosh pits in that ecstatic audience I see...
can you give me the backing track? LOL ahhahaha
Absolute mastery of the instrument.
Amazing playing !!
And I also love his attitude !!! He's a great performer !!
