I think the story of my tribe the Efik of Southern Nigeria should be of interest to many. Back in the 16th/17th centuries when my ancestors made contact with European missionaries, they (my ancestors) were confronted with the story of the bible, of an Almighty God and of His Son who came to rescue humanity from his sins and the story goes that my people reacted with joy, telling the missionaries that they too knew of that God whom we call Abasi-Ibom and recognised also that He was too holy and too pure to relate directly with humanity. For which reason, they claimed, our ancestors only had the intermediary or lesser gods to relate with, and these were more like us humans and appeared pleased by human sacrifice, trial by ordeal, killing of twins and so on.
When the missionaries expounded more on Christ and His loving mercy and kindness, my ancestors ditched their lessor gods and those practices and turned to the God of the bible. It warms my heart that this was the response of an aboriginal people whereas present day man has grown so cocky, uppitty and arrogant that he feels he has no need of God.
Well, the bible has all that covered because we see in our behaviours today the fallouts from the first temptation of our earthly parents. They were lured to rebel against God with the promise that their EYES would be open and they would SEE and be as GODS!! Well, coming from the very one the bible calls “the father of Lies” it’s no surprise the outcome was the precise opposite. Mankind became blind and secondly grew to think he was his own god and could make up his rules as he goes. Perfect depiction of today’s human condition - and yet all of this was captured so comprehensively in a book supposedly written by ignorant goat-herders-!!! Wow, some goat-herders!! Why, they even captured in the first line of the first book and chapter the three-fold composite of the fabric of our universe: time, space and matter!!! In the beginning (time) God made the heavens (space) and the earth (matter)!! Genesis 1:1. Way back when medicine still believed in bloodletting, it’s author could divine things that modern science was having difficulty figuring out: use of quarantine in cases of communicable diseases, washing with running water when disinfecting hands, springs under the ocean and even that the earth was circular and hung upon nothing.
Assuming I was the worst seeker of truth out there and saw a half of these in any one source, wouldn’t I at least pause and wonder at such book?! So, yes, dear Jordan Peterson, the bible is TRUE, it’s just our blindness and cockiness that prevents us from seeing!!!

@@amir.r1639 I have read the quran and hadiths many times and first of all the quran has been corrupted and is not the same from the beginning. This happend just after mohameds death when there where multiple versions of the quran and the muslims were very close to civil war because they thought their version was the right one. Then Uthman, wanting no civil war, decided to burn all versions of quran and chose just one to be the "correct" one and let all muslims come and copy it.
Secondly there is no logic in God chosing a man like mohamed as His prophet. He was a war general thay forced people to convert and let non believers pay higher taxes. He married a 6 year old kid. He owned slaves. He let those who insulted him be executed. He executed 800 jews. He encouraged his men to rape enslaved women even if they were already married. He allowed his men mut'a (pay for prostitution). He promised 72 virgins in paradise if you did jihad (what?). The angel Gabriel in the OT and to the mother of God Mary came peacefully saying "Do not fear". To mohamrd he came aggresively saying to him "RECITE".
I'm sorry but after reading it multiple times there is just no logic or love behind it.
Also, the Bible said there would be many false prophets and whoever, even if its an angel, spreads a different Gospel than the one they have teached us then let that one be accursed (Galatians 1:8-9).
Even though you have been lied to and its scary for you to change what you have learned all your life there is still hope for you to come to the truth, you just have to overcome your fear ❤

Luke 14:26.There are also over 100 direct contradictions in the bible. "An eye for an eye" / "Turn the other cheek" etc. Also the bible has been written and re-written over and over again over the last few thousand years. So truth changes?

The phenomenon you mention is the ability of the human brain to translate what is read to the mood or politics of the day. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the collection of tales in the Bible. This translation can be achieved from almost any collection of stories whether they be fact or fiction. Due to the many contradictions in the Bible, it suggests the editing by scholars of dreams experienced by the illiterate suggests fiction swings the scales in it’s favour.

God said in Quran about Jesus (pbuh) and the bible :
"And We did certainly give Moses the Torah and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed."
Say, [O believers], “We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.” (2:136)
"Those messengers - some of them We caused to exceed others. Among them were those to whom Allah spoke, and He raised some of them in degree. And We gave Jesus, the Son of Mary, clear proofs, and We supported him with the Pure Spirit. If Allah had willed, those [generations] succeeding them would not have fought each other after the clear proofs had come to them. But they differed, and some of them believed and some of them disbelieved. And if Allah had willed, they would not have fought each other, but Allah does what He intends." (2:253)
[And mention] when the angels said, “O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah ]." (3:45)
"But when Jesus felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, “Who are my supporters for [the cause of] Allah ?” The disciples said,” We are supporters for Allah . We have believed in Allah and testify that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]." (3:52)
[Mention] when Allah said, “O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ." (3:55)
"Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, “Be,” and he was." (3:59)
And ˹on Judgment Day˺ Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favour upon you and your mother: how I supported you with the holy spirit1 so you spoke to people in ˹your˺ infancy and adulthood. How I taught you writing, wisdom, the Torah, and the Gospel. How you moulded a bird from clay-by My Will-and breathed into it and it became a ˹real˺ bird-by My Will. How you healed the blind and the lepers-by My Will. How you brought the dead to life-by My Will. How I prevented the Children of Israel from harming you when you came to them with clear proofs and the disbelievers among them said, “This is nothing but pure magic.” (5:110)
Say, “We have believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him.” (3:84)
"O People of the Book! Do not go to extremes regarding your faith; say nothing about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was no more than a messenger of Allah and the fulfilment of His Word through Mary and a spirit ˹created by a command˺ from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers and do not say, “Trinity.” Stop!-for your own good. Allah is only One God. Glory be to Him! He is far above having a son! To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah is sufficient as a Trustee of Affairs." (4:171)
" And [for] their saying, “Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah .” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain." (4:157)
Indeed, We have sent revelation to you ˹O Prophet˺ as We sent revelation to Noah and the prophets after him. We also sent revelation to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants, ˹as well as˺ Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon. And to David We gave the Psalms. (4:163)

Look man, I get the beliefs you have. I was raised with them and believed them without a doubt for 20ish years. But then I got out of the bubble and started learning a whole lot more about history and the world.
Christianity is a doomsday cult. No different than all the other doomsday cults that hold up "prophesies" and "evidence" that the world is always perpetually going to end.
The bible has Jesus claiming the end would come within the lifetimes of the generation he was hanging out with....2000 years ago.
Since then, generation after generation after generation of Christians lived and died convinced that Jesus' return was going to happen within their lifetime.
Look at the wars, and the rumors of wars. Look at people being selfish. Look at man's inhumanity to man. Look at the famines and floods. Look at children disobeying parents. Look at people joining and leaving the church. Read these other vague prophecies and make them apply to things you see today. How can anyone deny Jesus is coming back any day now?

Ron Kelmell Here is a few examples of the perfections of the bible you eluded to:
      26. Who carried “the cross”? Matthew 27:32, Mark 15:21 and Luke 23:26 agree that Simon of Cyrene assisted Jesus, carrying the cross at least part of the way to the hill. John 19:17 counters these three accounts saying that only Jesus carried the cross.
      27. At what time was Jesus crucified? Mark 15:25 says it was the third hour (9:00 A.M.), John 19-14-15 says he was crucified at the sixth hour (noon).
      28. Crucified between two ____? Matthew 27:38 and Mark 15:27 say that Jesus was crucified between two thieves (Luke 23:32 just calls them criminals; John 19:18 simply calls them men). It is a historical fact that the Romans did not crucify robbers; crucifixion was exclusively reserved by law for insurrectionists and rebellious slaves.
      29. Did Jesus drink, if so, what did he drink? Matthew 27:34 says he drank wine mixed with gall. Mark 15:23 insists that Jesus was offered wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not drink. Luke does not say whether he drank or not, only that he was offered vinegar (or sour wine, see Luke 23:36). John 19:29-30 agrees that it was indeed vinegar, but attests that Jesus accepted the drink.
      30. John and the mother of Jesus near the cross - When Matthew 27:39-49 and John 19:25-27 mention Jesus talking to his mother and John, and others speaking with Jesus or deriding him while on the cross, they run afoul of another historical fact. Roman soldiers closely guarded the places of execution, and nobody was allowed near (least of all friends and family who might attempt to help the condemned). In agreement with the historical record, but in contradiction to Matthew and John’s record, Mark 15:40-41 and Luke 27:49 place these people afar off.
      31. What were Jesus’ last words before he died? Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34 agree that he said, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani (My Elohim, my Elohim, why hast thou forsaken me?). Luke (who admittedly was not at the scene) records, “Father, into Your hands I commit my spirit” as Jesus’ final utterance, see Luke 23:46. John 19:30, offering a final look into this matter counters that Jesus’ last words were, “It is finished.”
      32. Had the sun risen before the women arrived at the tomb? Toward dawn (Matthew 28:1) and Luke’s version, At early dawn (Luke 24:1) are very similar. From here the wheels fall off. Mark 16:2 says they arrived, When the sun had risen. In disagreement, John 20:1 says it was still dark.
      33. Who found the empty tomb? According to Matthew 28:1, only “Mary Magdalene and the other Mary found the empty tomb.” According to Mark 16:1, it was three women: “Mary Magdalene, Mary (the mother of James) and Salome.” According to Luke 23:55, 24:1 and 24:10, it was “the women who had come with him out of Galilee.” Among these women were “Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James.” Luke indicates in verse 24:10 that there were at least two others. According to John 20:1-4, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb alone, saw the stone removed, ran to find Peter then and returned to the tomb with Peter and another disciple. Four gospels, four different answers. This is not good.
      34. Who did they find at the tomb? According to Matthew 28:2-4, an angel of the Lord with an appearance like lightning was sitting on the stone that had been rolled away. Also present were the guards that Pilate had contributed. On the way back from the tomb the women meet Jesus (Matthew 28:9). According to Mark 16:5, one young man in a white robe was sitting inside the tomb. According to Luke 24:4, two men standing in dazzling apparel. It is not clear if the men were inside the tomb or outside of it. According to John 20:4-14, Mary and Peter and the other disciple initially find just an empty tomb. Peter and the other disciple enter the tomb and find only the wrappings. Then Peter and the other disciple leave and Mary looks in the tomb to find two angels in white. After a short conversation with the angels, Mary turns around to find Jesus. Four gospels, four different answers. This is also not good.
      35. Was the stone removed when the woman arrived at the tomb? Mark 16:4, Luke 24:2 and John 20:1 are in agreement that the stone was indeed rolled away when they got there. Matthew 28:1-2 counters these three accounts saying, no, that after the women arrived, the angel rolled away the stone.
      36. Who did the women tell about the empty tomb? According to Mark 16:8, “they said nothing to anyone.” According to Matthew 28:8, they “ran to report it to His disciples.” According to Luke 24:9, “they reported these things to the eleven and to all the rest.” According to John 20:18, Mary Magdalene announces to the disciples that she has seen the Lord.
      37. Where did the Ascension take place? According to Luke 24, Jesus’ ascension took place in Bethany, three days after his resurrection. According to Acts 1:1-12, Jesus’ ascension took place at Mount Olivet, forty days after his resurrection. [NOTE: The Acts of the Apostles and the gospel of Luke are thought to be written by the SAME PERSON!]
      38. The Book of Acts contains three accounts of Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus. All of three accounts contradict each other regarding what happened to Paul’s fellow travelers. 1. Acts 9:7 says they all “stood speechless, hearing the voice...”. 2. Acts 22:9 says they “did not hear the voice...”. 3. Acts 26:14 says “when we had all fallen to the ground...”
Some translations of the Bible (the New International Version and the New American Standard, for example) try to remove the contradiction in Acts 22:9 by translating the phrase quoted above as “did not understand the voice...” However, the Greek word “akouo” is translated 373 times in the New Testament as “hear,” “hears,” “hearing” or “heard” and only in Acts 22:9 is it translated as “understand.” In fact, it is the same word that is translated as “hearing” in Acts 9:7, quoted above. The word “understand” occurs 52 times in the New Testament, but only in Acts 22:9 is it translated from the Greek word “akouo.”
This is yet another example of translators sacrificing intellectual honesty and spiritual integrity in an attempt to reconcile conflicting passages in the New Testament.
      39. The Second Coming - There are several passages in the gospels where Jesus says he will return in the disciples’ lifetime (Mark 13:30, Matthew 10:23, 16:28, 24:34, Luke 21:32, etc.). The same expectation is held by Paul in his letters. In 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 Paul says that the time is so short that believers should drastically change the way that they live. But Paul had a problem - some believers had already died, so what would happen to them when Jesus returned?
Paul’s answer in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 shows that Paul expected that at least some of those he was writing to would be alive when Jesus returned - “we who are alive, and remain...” The same passage also indicates that Paul believed that those believers who had died remained “asleep in Jesus” until he returned. However, as the delay in Jesus’ return grew longer, the location of Jesus’ kingdom shifted from earth to heaven and the timeframe was extended indefinitely. [NOTE: Earth is where the kingdom will be set up according to the Law and the Prophets. In no passage are the righteous “going to heaven” in the Hebrew Old Testament.]
It is quite obvious that Jesus never intended to start any type of church structure since he believed he would return very shortly to rule his kingdom in person. It is also quite obvious that Jesus was (or his followers were) wrong about when he was coming back.
      40. The differences between Jesus’ and Paul’s Gospels - The gospel that Jesus and his disciples proclaimed to the Jews was in accordance with what the Old Testament predicted about a human Messiah reigning over a restored kingdom of Israel, a kingdom of peace and righteousness. The people of Israel were to repent as personal righteousness was necessary to become a member of the kingdom.
In contrast to Jesus’ gospel was the gospel preached to the Jews and gentiles by the apostle Paul, which Paul refers to as “my gospel” (Romans 2:16, 16:25, II Timothy 2:8) and “the gospel that I preach” (Galatians 2:2) to differentiate it from what was being proclaimed by the disciples. In Paul’s gospel the human Messiah became a divine Saviour of all nations, the restored kingdom of Israel became a heavenly kingdom, and admittance to the kingdom was based on faith rather than personal righteousness.
The two gospels caused great animosity between Paul and the original apostles, an animosity that is played down in the books of Acts and Galatians, but which still shows through in several places. When Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD the “christians” in Jerusalem were all scattered or killed, so the opposition to the gospel of Paul was largely eliminated. The gospel of Paul was incorporated into the gospel of Jesus, in many cases supplanting it. For the record: the foundation of the Catholic Church is based upon the doctrines of Paul.

Study the history of any human culture in a similar position and you find slavery, rape and genocide in all of them if you go far enough. The question is not whether or not those monstocities were committed by human beings in the culture, the question is whether their religion made a genuine attempt to reduce these monstrocities executed by human beings whithin the culture.
The fact that the bible mentions a limitation to slavery in the old testament doesn't mean it condones slavery. It means that from a practical stance at the time people couldn't get rid of slavery but at least they could reduce the maltreatment of slaves, and that's what they did.
From our point of vieuw it's an easy judgement as we don't see the enslavement of machines to do the work for us that former to the invention of the steam engine human slaves would do as something unethical. Note how slavery was only abolished in countries after the introduction of the steam engine in that country.
I suggest you try to imagine what life was like and how to keep a society alive not just before the invention of the steam engine, but as far back as before the invention of the wheel (like ancient egypt), since that is the time those texts originate from.

The Catholic Church has always taught the need to be born again. Salvation comes from faith in the finished work of Christ through grace. Works PROVES the faith--just like the bible says. You have decided for yourself what the Catholic Church teaches without having the slightest idea of the facts and yet you feel compelled to change THEM.

@@AndrewP-fj8rn The Catholic church teaches to have the Catholic faith, to pray to saints and to Mary, not the Virgin Mary because even though she conceived Jesus by power of the Holy Spirit, so she can't be referred to as a virgin if she had four other sons after Jesus. Christianity teaches us to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, to live your life as it says in scripture. Catholicism doesn't teach this. I feel Catholics have their heads in the sand, and Christian's are spreading the good news that Jesus is coming back soon to repent and be ready! 🙏💜

The purpose of the Bible is your redemption. When it happens the Holy Spirit breaks through and fills your heart which gives life to your spirit, peace to your soul, and healing for your body. It is then that you understand that it is not you that found Jesus Christ, but it is He who has been calling you home your entire life. He said, “The words that I speak to you, the are Spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63) Reading the first 24 chapters of the book of Matthew one evening in college changed my life. Forty-five years later I can say that reading the words of Jesus was the most important thing I have ever done.

Then, that means that every other ancient text is also true, from every other religion ever. The mere fact that something is written does not make it true. There is also a mountain of text in the Vatican that contradict the fables in the carefully edited text that was put into the Bible constructed by the first council of Nicaea, which of course was the Roman Empire basically constructing a new religion. It still doesn't present any evidence to prove any supernatural claim whatsoever. It just makes the claim and that's it. As much as I like Peterson on many topics, this is one where I believe he leaves logic and reason at the door. But of course it's going to pander to Christians in particular, but conveniently leave everyone else out.

I disagree, but I understand your point. This tidbit isn't the full lecture, which I have seen, and it does a poor job at summarizing Jordan's point. So I'll do my best:
Jordan explains that a person cannot perceive the world through any lense but the moral lense. Or better put: one cannot operate in the world in any functional sense without some basis of morality. (He uses A.I and smart car technology as an example) He goes on to state that science can derive facts, and observation can derive facts innumerably, but to determine which facts are "important" is a moral decision.
Furthermore, he says, that the Bible (which is one of the oldest texts in the world) pulls together a collection of stories that when understood give rise to a moral or ethical code which allows one to live in a, not merely "functional," but a "Good" way (as described by the average person looking in). The Bible is, by this argument, an excellent foundation of belief which propogates the persuit of truth in the natural world (science), truth in the spiritual or social world (philosophy/religion) and a fair backbone for law (as exemplified by the United States). I think I did well at a summary, but I know I left out many points. I recommend the full lecture, but I do not have a link for you, sorry!

The 66 books of the Bible were written:
    1. On three continents
    2. In three languages
    3. By about 40 different people (kings, Shepherds, scientist, attorneys, an army general, fisherman, priest, and a physician).
    4. Over of about 1500 years.
    5. On the most controversial subjects.
    6. By people who in most cases had never met.
    7. By Arthur's whose education and background varied greatly.
Yet, though it seems totally inconceivable,
    1. The 66 books maintain harmony with each other.
    2. Often concepts on a subject are expressed, but these concepts do not undermind what other Bible writers say on the same subject.
We Christians don't follow blindly so I'll give a list of prophecies fulfilled by Jesus.
    1. THE PROPHECY - The Bible predicts that God will be proceeded by a messenger - Isaiah 40:3 "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God."
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECY -
Matthew 3:1-3 "In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
    2. THE PROPHECY - Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."
    NOTE: Immanuel means"God with Us"
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECY -
Luke 1: 28-31 "And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS."
    3. THE PROPHECY - Micah 5:2 "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From [a]everlasting.”
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECY -
Mathew 2:1, 2 "Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, [a]wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to WORSHIP Him.”
    4. THE PROPHECY - Isaiah 61:1,2 "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;"
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECY -
JESUS SPEAKING - Luke 4:18,19 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
    5. THE PROPHECY - Isaiah 35:5,6 "Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES - Matthew 9:35 "And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people."
"eyes of the blind shall be opened" -
    John 9:1-11.
"the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped" - Mark 7:31-37.
"Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: " -
    John 5:5-9.
    6. THE PROPHECY - Psalm 78:2 "I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:"
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES - Matthew 13:34 "All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:"
    7. THE PROPHECY - Zachariah 9:9 "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES - Luke 9:35-38 "And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon. And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way. And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
    - Mark 11:1-10
    8. THE PROPHECY - PSALM 41:9 "Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me."
    THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES
    - Matthew 26:47-54 (too much text)
    9. THE PROPHECY - Zachariah 11:12,13 " And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them."
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES - Matthew 27:1-7 "Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in."
    10. THE PROPHECY - Isaiah 53:7 "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES - Matthew 27:13,14 "Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly."
    11. THE PROPHECY - Isaiah 53:12 "...and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES - Luke 23:33,34 "And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. AND THEY PARTED HIS RAIMENT, AND CAST LOTS."
NOTE: Speaking of "AND THEY PARTED HIS RAIMENT, AND CAST LOTS." which is above, even that was prophesied - PSALM 22:18 "They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
    12. THE PROPHECY - Psalm 22:1 "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES - Matthew 27:46 "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
    13. THE PROPHECY - PSALM 31:5 "nto thine hand I commit my spirit..."
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES - Luke 23:46 "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."
NOTE: IT'S EVEN PREDICTED THAT NONE OF JESUS BONES WOULD BE BROKEN - PSALM 34:20 "He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken."
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES - John 19:32,33 "Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:"
NOTE: I could imagine if I was to ask others to add on to these prophecies, you all would see that there are even more.

I began to heavily read the Bible some time ago, along with my own research of history and languages, and I don't think it should be regarded as a complete truth, nor propose that people should agree upon what it says, because that is oversimplifying the content of the book. A lot of those texts reflect not only the wisdom of ancient people, but their brutality and ignorance as well.

Basically what I got from this video is that he's saying that the Bible must be true because we can't derive our morals from scientific facts and that the Bible is where we get our chore morals from, therefore making it "true". This is quite frankly a stupid argument and makes me respect Jordan a lot less. Our morals are not derived solely from religion. If they were, than why are there people that are born and die atheists that have more morals according to our western society than a lot of Christians do? It doesn't matter what religion you are. You can follow good morals one way or another. And what decides "good" morals anyway? What's moral and good to us may be detestable to other cultures and societies and vice versa. Who's to decide what truly is moral? This argument has been debunked and refuted countless times and to hear him say there's "no holes" in it is foolish to say the least. Everyone and their outlook on the world is unique and I'm tired of people saying there's only one way to go about it, or else you end up in hell. That way of thinking is arrogant. Believe what you want to believe, but to tell people that your narrow and very precise view point of the world amongst the thousands, maybe millions, of others is the "right" and "true" way based off of little to no evidence, and that there will be eternal consequences if people don't think the way you do, is extremely dishonorable. Jordan can be really smart sometimes but this is an example of the contrary.

Why not make Jesus resurrection as visible as possible to all people (including rulers, the Roman Empire, all historians).. And why not say some divine words to bring heaven on Earth?
What's the core message of Jesus/Christianity? ONLY if you believe in me (Jesus) you'll go to Heaven. That;s the logical equivalent to "If you don't believe in me you'll go to h3ll".
What kind of God would have such a mafia like approach? And what kind of God would want to punish its human creations, then send his Son instead to punish him so he can feel satisfied and forgive humans,.. What happened to personal responsibility? I very much enjoy listening to Jordan Peterson. This is probably the one subject where his attempt to construct an evidence based argument is built upon a mixture of his own beliefs underpinned by unsubstantiated facts. It’s a pity as on other topics he is able to give clarity and insight. Still a fan though! There were texts before the bible, but the ones that had staying power also had force and might and the threat of heresy behind them. So maybe, just maybe the premise that this is the centre of all learning and nothing can be understood later if not first consumed could be toned down a bit and given a bit more humility given the bloody end awaiting anyone who objected at the time right up to just recently! JP says without it there couldn’t be the possibility of truth - really? What about all the societies that exist outside Christendom……

If you're already a believer, Jordan's metaphorical, archetypal reading between the lines affords a sense of validation to biblical authority. This approach could be applied to the Qur'an, or any unfalsifiable faith based holy book. And as with all faiths, it's transcendent posturing is considered immutable by its supporters. So unlike other topics Jordan addresses competently, this dialogue is limited to lecture, not discussion.

Have you ever considered, that one of best ways to understand all of society's complaints (yes all), might be best understood by going back to the beginning of things such as defining a 'Conqueror & being conquered'? The conquered are a group of people who were 'permitted to live' while those who lost in battle died & were slaughtered. Women, children ... Were added to the conqueror's spoil & some young men kept as slaves, because they were all 'CONQUERED'. No laws, no courts, no complaints allowed ... Obey & submit or the conqueror has no need for you. Now, fast forward a thousand years or so, ... French want to rule their own province but don't stop the free money we get from the English provinces; women complain of inequalities so police & firemen lower standards to allow some to be hired (well you know the percent of voters who are women now dictate catering to them); children complain, (lower academic requirements); everybody complains (self-esteem is like respect - they need to be earned)... Don't step on my freedoms, ... Hmmm ... Look closely - the Conqueror is still there, in the background, doing whatever they want, by way of the controls of 'money' & economy. Life & death are still controlled by the Conquerors ... A hidden private group in the shadows. Think about it. The Bible & its principles are 100% correct. Humanity is self destructive living in sin & it all points to 'GOD IS REAL' but people keep lying to themselves because sin is pleasure & we would rather choose our present conqueror. As for me & my house, we choose to serve the LORD. 😉

    1. Is there only one god, or are there multiple gods? If multiple, how is a person to choose which deserves obedience?
    2. Would you agree that before anything can exist, something has to create it?
Did your god create everything? If yes, who/what created your god?
    3. Is your god infallible?
    4. Is your god omnipotent?
    5. Is your god omniscient?
    6. Is your god benevolent, or malicious?
    7. If your god cannot make mistakes, then it follows that everything it creates is either perfect, or that your god intentionally makes things that are flawed. Would a benevolent god intentionally create something likely to suffer because of its flaws?
    8. If your god can do anything, and it created the universe, why didn't it simply create a perfect world inhabited by perfect beings? If your god wanted obedience, and god is not malicious, why did god make disobedience possible?
If a parent had two little children, and came to them with a plate of cookies and said,
"These are the best cookies in the world, and I'm going to put them where you have to look at them all day every day.
These cookies are delicious, and if you eat them, they will make you into something just as good as me.
You are NOT ALLOWED to eat these cookies, ever~!"
Then, of course, the kids eat the cookies. The abusive parent storms in, enraged. "How dare you ungrateful children! I am now physically throwing you out of my garden. You will live in torture for eternity as punishment, and all of your children will automatically also suffer torture all of their miserable lives".
Wouldn't a parent like that belong in an insane asylum, or at least in prison?
Suppose the parent had the ability, at any time, to bring the kids back to paradise.....instead, he says, "well, I'm going to TORTURE TO DEATH my favorite son, and THEN, if you obey me like a zombie slave from now on, you can come home"
Wouldn't that parent deserve only HATE, not obedience?
    9. If your god knows everything, does it already understand every thought and feeling you have? Does it instantaneously know everything you say and do? If yes, what is the point of religious rituals, such as prayer?
    10. Why would an omnipotent and omniscient god not communicate directly and unambiguously with individuals, with no need of books, churches, prophets, signs, miracles, etc?
If a person is not intelligent enough, or not "worthy" enough to speak directly with god, whose fault is that? Who made the person in the first place? If a person is unworthy or incapable of directly communicating with god, how can that person be capable of recognizing a valid spokesperson for god?
    11. Think about the person/people who convinced/persuaded/ordered you to believe in a version of god. Are they infallible? Is it at all possible for them to tell you something they sincerely believe, but for that thing they tell you to be actually incorrect?
    12. Are feelings reliable tools to guide actions? Suppose I hear a person in my neighborhood talking a lot about the presence of violent break in robberies nearby, and I get apprehensive. I am convinced by the passion my neighbor puts into this story, even though I've seen no tangible evidence. That night, I hear a noise. I FEEL certain that it is a robber breaking in to harm my family. I get out of bed, pull a pistol from the bedside table. Without opening the bedroom door, I shoot through it to get the robber. When I open the door, there is my son, lying dead on the floor from my bullet. I was sure. I relied on my feelings. My fear of a robber. My hope of being a defender father. Feelings, not facts. Was that a good way to live my life?
    14. Do you deny that religion (superstition, irrational behavior) is the root cause of most human conflict in history, that for centuries millions have been tortured and murdered "because god told me to do it"?
    13. Suppose a person has a book full of maps to guide a group journey. They rely upon it, but the group is perpetually lost.
You question the map book, but your friend insists that the map book is flawlessly accurate.
"How do you know?" you ask. They reply, "I know that this book is accurate and perfect, because it says so in the book."
Your friend insists that the map book is information from god.....but some other people wrote the book, based on their interpretations...why? Why didn't god write the book personally? How could information possibly become more accurate and truthful when filtered thorough con men?.....but that is okay, because of how passionately they shout about their version of the book, and how strongly it makes your friend feel.
When you show them hundreds of self contradictions in the book, they get upset and say that you are just not reading the book correctly.
Which person is messed up? You, or the book fanatic?
How do you justify cherry picking which parts of the bible to follow? Leviticus?
    14. If the point is to die and go to heaven, why not simply commit mass suicide and get it over with?
Christ was quite literally a kamikaze; is that what you preach should be emulated in daily life?
    15. Why is it necessary to use superstition and irrationality to justify your practical principles?
Why treat humans like a donkey in need of the stick of hell and the carrot of heaven?
If you want positive secular behavior, why not justify that behavior in practical terms?
Why do you need to use HATE and FEAR to get people to OBEY your literally INSANE beliefs?
Wake up. Reality is OBJECTIVE, not subjective.
Religion is a SCAM used by con men to exploit the weak, the desperate, and the stupid. Use your brain, not your feelings.

Another case of someone, relatively unknown, writes or says something that rings true in the minds of almost everybody and suddenly becomes instantly famous. If intelligent enough, like Peterson, they continue to say or write intelligent, interesting within their own sphere of expertise and knowledge. But then ego starts kicking in, they start to believe that they are never wrong, firstly by denouncing others ideologies then by arguing for their own ideologies as right. Peterston, though highly intelligent and an excellent wordsmith, is not a expert on religion or whether God exists or not. And, his arguement is merely a philosophical arguement.. of which there are many, arguing equally for and against the existence of a god. I think his ego has outpaced his knowledge and, because he has 'found' his faith, he is, almost forcibly, pushing it onto others.

And yet, some religious people have sought to replace the name of God, Jehovah (YHWH), with the word 'Lord,' which alters the meaning of this unique book in the world. This lengthy passage contains several logical fallacies, including:
    1. Begging the Question: The speaker makes an assumption that the Bible is the most fundamental book and that all other books are derived from it. This is not supported by any evidence and is taken as a given.
    2. False Dilemma: The speaker suggests that without an understanding of the Bible, one cannot understand other books or people. This is a false dilemma as it presents only two options (understanding the Bible or not understanding anything) when other options exist.
    3. Circular Reasoning: The speaker suggests that the Bible is true because it provides the basis for truth. This is a circular argument as it assumes the conclusion (the Bible is true) in its premise (it provides the basis for truth).
    4. Appeal to Ignorance: The speaker states that he can't see any holes in his argument from a scientific perspective. This is an appeal to ignorance as the absence of disproof is not the same as proof.
    5. Hasty Generalization: The speaker makes a broad sweeping statement that we aim at what's highest or we don't, without any supporting evidence. This is a hasty generalization as it jumps to conclusions based on insufficient evidence.
    6. Equivocation: The speaker uses the term "truth" in multiple ways without clearly defining what he means each time. This is equivocation, and it can lead to confusion and misinterpretation.
    7. Appeal to Authority: The speaker appeals to the authority of the religious enterprise and its historical longevity to validate his claim, which is a form of logical fallacy.
    8. Slippery Slope: The speaker suggests that without a shared corpus of texts, we can't share our perceptions and values, which will inevitably lead to fighting. This is a slippery slope fallacy as it assumes a chain of events without providing evidence that these events are causally linked.

Too bad the bible has had chapters removed. Would be interesting to find out what was hidden from us.

saying the bible is true means that what is stated in it can be trusted and verified in our life experiences since it is the Word of God and we can test and prove it by our experiences

That's a mother-father claim, it's true, it's true in the way that it is the basis for truth. WOW!
