If you remember back during season 3 Martin managed to get her out of her rage after the incident with the arson. She was more than willing to go full destroyer after seeing him hurt and he basically only had to say "not yet"
I mean yeah, but in the end she just went blind. Honestly, the consequences seem kind of tame o me. Then again, I'm going blind irl, wo maybe my priorities are different.

Okay Martin's "Plus one" joke is the best possible thing he could have said. 1) It lightens the mood, making jokes with people you don't know very well ingratiate yourself to them and puts them at ease. He wants and needs Melanie to like him, both as a person and as a Prophet. 2) It puts himself down. Martin consistently sees himself through his relationship to others. Initially it was his mother, then his coworkers, and for a while but especially now, Jon. He does not see himself as an entire person in his own right, just what he is to Jon, whom he deems far more important. 3) He doesn't say the whole truth. His "role" in this world is as the keeper of a fear domain, begrudgingly serving the Eye. Even if Melanie and Georgie wanted to, they wouldn't be able to save them because Martin's domain forbids the knowledge of them, they MUST suffer alone. If he had told the truth, Melanie would become hostile to him, and then to Jon for the possibility of him having a domain as well.
These two could've had the perfect friendship, even back in s3 where she got mad at jonah hurting Martin. I mean I get it was also cause of her own anger but- still. Potential.
YESSSS YOU DID IT AGAIN!!! This moment was so good, your animatic really pulled out all the stops with the emotion in their conversation! The emotion behind the animation where Melanie blinded herself was VERY GOOD. Their banter was so sweet, and talking about their relationships together really brought out how sweetly they care for each other. The moments where Martin catches her up on Daisy and Basira were really dramatic, and I love how Melanie warned Martin about Helen before he even brought it up, your art really emphasised how much Helen's betrayal hurt her.
