Rev was Avenged Sevenfold in my humble opinion the band has never been the same when he died. Don't get me wrong they still make good music but in my opinion Rev made their signature sound. His crazy zany brilliant songwriting and incredible drum playing made them sound unique.

This one was my song of 2009, when I first got into them after hearing and seeing the amazing video for "A Little Piece of Heaven" and quickly bingeing their entire catalogue. I still love them today, with my most recent favourite by them being "Cosmic" and its equally amazing video. I LOVE the downtuned DROP-C guitars at the very end of the song, paired with Rev’s amazing drumming. Back then, who'd have known what would go on to sadly happen later that same year, with Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan suddenly passing, and who would ever have thought Mike Portnoy would have to fill in because the world's most consistently ranked 'best drummer' was the only one who could possibly fill Jimmy's massive shoes, and even that didn't work out! I saw A7X with Mike and he was astonishing (excuse the pun that's not even from Mike's Dream Theater era!!). I absolutely loved Mike's drumming on Nightmare (the song especially but the whole album is a drumming favourite for me). However, as a massive fan of Bad Religion, I feel Brooks Wackerman is a worthy replacement, even though Jimmy could never ever be replaced in the fan's hearts, and his style is sorely missed.
