THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE VIDEOS. I’ve been feeling very discouraged by my own injury as I come from a very active lifestyle myself. Your journey has given me hope❤
Awe I'm so happy to hear it!! Wishing you only the best with your recovery as well 💪
Hi Alexa,
Thanks for doing these videos. I just discovered them yesterday, and have now watched them all and subscribed. I have been reading everything I could online about recovering from this surgery, but your personal story has been the best information, by far, that I have found. My 2 week apt is in 3 days to remove the stitches. I’m 73 but was very active, so my Dr. recommended the surgery. So far I am doing good. Please keep doing these. Thanks, Dave
Oh yay! I'm sooo glad to hear that, thank you :) Good luck with getting the stitches out, think it should be today or tomorrow. If you were active before, you should definitely be able to get to it just got to put the time in with PT when the time comes. Wishing you a smooth recovery 💪
I agree. Her videos are the most informative and have helped me so much.
Really motivating to see someone like you Alexa! 💫 I'm on my 4 week post OP. Thanks for the content and keep pushing✊❤️
Thanks so much!! So glad to hear, appreciate the support 💪
Awesome!!! Glad to see you progressing!
Ooo interesting, my knee on my opposite leg also started to hurt a bit after jumping at PT for the first time post-op 🤔 Glad to hear I’m not the only one and that your pain subsided after a little more time! 🙏
Super duper excited for you!! Guess who’s finally walking?? Meeeee!! I’m 3 months post op tomorrow. Yayyyy!! Now it hurts a little to walk but I get better every week. Looking forward to being able to jog and jump! But I’m staying the course and being really careful. Small victories feel great!
Omg yayyyyy!! Congrats 🎉 It is SO awkward and stiff at first hahah. You'll know when you've turned a corner and feel super strong again (although I still notice the stiffness). So happy for you! Thanks for sharing.
I'm on my 4th month now and doing post op therapy for my Ruptured Achilles last September 30, 2022. Accident happened when I was also playing basketball tournament. I've following your progress in relation to my case. I would say, the tips and your experiences really got me into pushing more on my recovery.
Awe dang, I'm so glad to hear it! Thanks so much and wishing you a smooth recovery 💪
Hi Alexa,
Thanks for sharing your journey, it is good to see someone make it through to the other side with so much positivity.
I'm 38 from Aus and ruptured my achilles playing hockey. I am 9 days post surgery and getting my research on.
So thank you as this has helped me to understand it all better.
Hope you continue to get stronger on your recovery
Heyyy omg yes of course! It's definitely tough (esp. at the beginning) but does get better - just gotta put the time and work in. So glad my videos have been helpful for you! Wishing you a smooth recovery as well 💪
Thank you for this series of videos!!! I tore my achilles playing basketball on Sep 6th. I never had any major injury in my life until then. I was clueless about this injury but watching all your videos gave me so much information and optimism! I really appreciate the effort and quality of these videos!
You're so welcome! We were definitely in the same boat too 😅 Feel free to leave a comment if you ever want to chat anything through. Wishing you a smooth recovery!
Congratulations!! 🎉 Being able to jog is such a huge milestone, can’t wait to get there myself! I’m 8 weeks post surgery now and just made the transition from boot to shoe, and thankfully the stretching at PT was only painful for the first couple weeks and is totally fine now. Hope you’re playing basketball again soon!
Thank you!! Yeah I'm jogging again very consistently now and feel super grateful for it. Exciting to hear you're in the shoe now! That was a huge milestone as well. Hoping bball is around the corner as well - I'll def be making a video about it once I can!
I appreciate all of your updates! I am at 5.5 months mark from rupture (non surgical). I wore boot for 3 months. For last couple of weeks, it has been super swollen and I am still limping a little. I am still doing PT every week and doing workouts every day for strength. I am riding the stationary bike but no other cardio yet.
Yay! So glad to hear :) So interesting learning about people's journeys in the non-surgical route as well. Hoping you can get to that next phase smoothly 💪
Your videos have been a great help through my achilles Journey all the things that you recommend have all worked awesome I just wanted to say thank you how much you've helped me through my journey again thank you
I'm soooo happy to hear that! You're so welcome 🥲
10 months post op and I’ve been too afraid to run again. I loved running and have only jogged once since recovered. And my knees hurt so much in general since the injury
oh no! ahh sorry to hear that. Have you been able to work with a doctor or PT with your goals? If you want to get back to running again I think you certainly could if you got strong enough again. Sending good vibes.
Tomorrow will be 13 weeks post achilles repair and started strengthening. 4 more weeks until I start jogging. Your progress looks great! Keep it up!
Thanks for this great video series!
Thank you!! If you're jogging at the 17 week mark then that's really impressive. Wishing you a smooth recovery as well 💪
I too felt i could walk without being worried or think too much around 6 months. Im 7 months in.
Gained mass in my calf again, i can feel that my strong leg doesn’t compensate too much when squatting, lunging and moving around.
Have the mind muscle connection again..
Two weeks post Op. ruptured Achilles. Love your videos they are inspirational. How did you keep your sanity laying around the house to heal etc. feel so anxious to get back to my routine and frustrated because I’m not capable right now. 🙏🏽🧿
Thank you!! I think it helped being able to get out and about and use the knee scooter to get places faster. I feel you, not having independence is so tough. Hang in there 💪
I'm about to hit my 6 month, and so I just started walk-jogging. It's TOUGH, not gonna lie, but it feels pretty good
Totally get it! Keep at it and it will get easier 💪
I’m at week 10 post op! I’m just so happy to be out of the boot. Started incorporating leg days since last week but limited to only certain movements such as deadlifts, thrusters, RDLs, quad extension and modified leg press! Trying to take it slow because I’m also scared to re-rupture.
Congrats at hitting 10 weeks! Love to hear that you’re trying to stay active, it’s definitely been a journey and I’ve tried many things over the weeks. Wishing you a smoother recovery 💪
That’s fantastic! I feel like I could jog but I’m waiting for the all clear. Still trying to get muscle back in my calf. I’m 17 weeks post op today. Still going to PT.
yayyy! yeah I think give it a few more weeks too and you're going to start feeling a big change pretty soon :)
10 days post op here 🙋🏾♀️ I tore my Achilles playing basketball as well. You’re videos are providing me so much comfort during this time! I am also a model. One of my biggest goals is to be able to walk in heels again especially for runway shows. Around what month would you say that you felt comfortable wearing heels again?
Awe dang, well I am so happy they have been helpful!! Let's see… I think I could have worn heals at my wedding if I really wanted to so that would have been around 5-6 months post-op. I did decide to wear sandals and sneakers at my wedding and woke up the next morning thinking my foot felt a bit sore but it was all good. If you're wearing them for a short period of time then it could be okay but yeah that's earliest I think I would have tried it. Definitely ask your doctor beforehand too, to see what they say. Wishing you a smooth recovery 💪
I remember finding your page right after surgery, I hit 6 months in a week!! your videos helped me have hope. How should I go about running again?
Awe, well congrats on hitting 6 months! Are you working with a PT? I'd recommend working with someone locally to help you ease back into running. As you can see in the video, my PT gave me a gradual program to use to get back into it. Hope that helps!
Feb 2022 ruptured Achilles playing Badminton, first injury in life, in 30’s, 4th month started walking, 6 month post i started riding motorcycles. But now 9 Month only i started jogging. Still my Achilles gets sore sometimes.
Thanks for sharing your journey! Sounds like ruptured yours right after mine. I honestly woke up this morning and felt like mine was sore as well 🥵 Nonetheless - wishing you a smooth recovery!
Love the channel - quick question, were you able to do a single leg calf raise prior to jogging?
Thank you!! And yes I definitely was
How big was your tear gap? Was it a full rupture? Also, did you do a minimally invasive surgery or a regular open surgery (1 inch scar or so is minimally invasive, bigger 4in or so scar is regular open surgery). I have an achilles tendon rupture at the same age as you it seems and I'm wondering what your progress has been. You may not know this but do you know what suturing technique they used (krakow, triple bundle, etc.)?
Thank you for your time!
Make sure to watch more of my videos if you're curious to hear more of the answers to some of these questions.
I had a full rupture and my scar is quite short in length. The surgery I had also gave me two small scars on each side of my heel. I don't know the name of anything and don't want to give any false information. Hope that helps!
I'm a little over 4 months and still walk with a limp. Do you walk with a limp or when did it stop?
4 months it was definitely still trying to learn to walk. I think it was around that time that I felt like it was starting to get better! Definitely 5 months out I was more smooth since this is around the time I got married and I had no problems then. Hope that helps!
I am 4-5 months post op and normal shoes are still super uncomfortable-- they dig into my scar which is till a bit swollen-- do the running shoe irritate your scar site?
Yeah I remember feeling that way about some of my taller shoes too. I found the ones with shorter backs made a huge difference for that time period and then eventually more months post op it isn’t a problem anymore
I am in 12 th week while I am walking I feel pain
Yeah, early on it was really hard to walk! Around the 4.5-5 month mark I found things to change drastically. Hang in there!
I have had Achilles tendinitis since 07/2022 how are you healing so fast 🥺? I can’t walk more than half a mile without pain.
Oh no sorry to hear 😣 I tore my achilles tendon in January which I believe is quite different than having achilles tendinitis. I'm sorry I don't know much about tendinitis but sending good vibes your way!
Hey Alexa! ❤️ We spoke previously in some comments haha, I’m also a product designer in Cali.
I work in a RUclipsr’s company and had a thought for your channel - would you consider opening up a new channel for fitness stuff? I say this because I know big topic transitions can hurt a channel’s prefomance and I honestly like you vibe and want to see you succeed. Just a thought, hope you know it’s from a good place 🙏🏼
Hey Vivi! Thanks for looking out. My life has shifted a lot this year with my injury and I’m interested in getting this story out there but not interested in managing two channels since I don’t plan to continue talking about it once it’s in fully recovered which will likely be in another 5 months.
I appreciate the thought though; I’m in experimental mode right now and trying not to be too hard on myself.
It means a lot that you’re still here! My next 2 videos are design ones.
Thanks for the message 💙
Hii Alexa I'm from India I got my Achilles Tendon rupture 6 weeks ago and I'm really worrying about my squats 🥺🥺 would I be able to do heavy squats again or not?? Really I'm worrying a lot about my squats...😟 SQUATS is the exercise I love most.
Hi there! I've been told by my doctor that you should be able to get back to the activities you did before the injury! You do need to work at it though and practice and be careful. I recommend talking to your doctor or physical therapist about your goals so they know it's important to you and can help you get there. Good luck 💪
@@HelloImAlexa thank you so much Alexa.
I forgot to put I'm 6 weeks into this journey
A year past and it’s right now my official 6week😢 can u tell me how u going after Achilles rupture?😂
How long can I walk per day?
Now that I am 6.5-7 months post-op I can walk for very long periods of time with no glaring issues. I did a long hike for 3-4 hours around the 5 month mark as well. Hope that's helpful!
