They were actually based on 2 real people on the Titanic….Ida and Isador Strauss ( co-owners of Macys…..the elderly couple who died in the bed) Isador tried to get Ida onto a lifeboat but Ida refused to go (she gave her life vest and coat to her maid who was able to get on the lifeboat) and told him “we have been together for many years, as we have lived together so we shall die together” (wherever you go I go) which is where Jack and Rose got the “You jump, I jump.”

Majority of the characters in the movie existed back then even the officers.
Some are from the stories of the survivors.
They knew about the ship splitting after finding out the other half below the ocean after decades.
Jack and Rose were the fictional ones here.

Some of my ancestors were on board. I found out about it in such a weird way. Through ancestry family tree building we found a brother and sister who went from Sweden to Finland to the UK and then they were in the US. Records jumped from about 1910 to 1914 with no record of their passage. So as a Titanic enthusiast I went to a local exhibit. They gave boarding passes as tickets and you were assigned a real passenger so you could check the survivors list at the end. While checking the list my partner called me over excitedly. I asked her what was up and she said she found them. My ancestors were two of the steerage passengers lucky enough to survive.

If I was 101 old lady and I agreed to go out into the ocean, the same spot I experienced the best and worst part of my life at… you better believe I’m only going on that ship to tell my story, throw the anchor (heart of the ocean) down and die over the same location that I lost the love of my life at. Rose was waiting her whole life for someone to bring her back out into open waters and reunite with Jack.

  • @ievabelodedova1999
    @ievabelodedova1999 3 месяца назад +15

1.There is a deleted scene where old Rose gives the diamond to that guy who was searching it,to hold it for a sec,and then she throws it in the ocean.
    2. If you look and listen carefully through the movie, at the end in Roses last dream, you can see the clock shows the exact time when titanic sinks, that was the ending what should have happened 😢🤧,
    3. Yes Rose died 😢
    4. If you listened carefully what Jack said to Rose before he died, and at the moment when he teaches her how to spit 😅,you could understand the pictures at the end beside her bed… Rose did everything Jack promised her, and she died old in her bed having children and grandchildren, everything what jack said , happened 🫂❤️,
    Rose wanted to die.
    Jack wanted to live.
    Rose lived for Jack.
    Jack died for Rose.

It's not a deleted scene. It was an alternate ending that was filmed. We can search for this alternate ending on YT and watch it. Personally, I really like this alternate ending, but it doesn't take away from the film's merit. It's one of the best films ever.

    • @boomeister2

Jack told Rose that she would die an old woman warm in her bed. That's exactly what happenened.
If you look at all the people that were there waiting on the Titanic for Rose to return to Jack, they were all the people Rose had interacted with that had been lost.

    Some real facts
    1. Some(not all) of The underwater scene at the beginning is real footage of the wreck, pretty much anything you see on a tv screen in background shots is from james camerons dives.
    2. It took 2hrs 40mins for it to go under.
    3. Titanic actually had the recommended amount of lifeboats according to the British board of trade in 1912. Recommended was 16, Titanic had 20.
    4. More lifeboats wouldn't of helped either cause they were just launching the last one when boat deck started to go under.
    5. It was a moonless night, so it was pitch black except the stars.
    6. Water temp was 28°F. So choosing to jump early an swimming away aint really an option.
    7. In the one scene of the old couple laying in the bed together as water rushes in, that was Ida and isador straus. And they where actually the co-owners of Macy's. They are also who the story is based after.
    8. Titanic was deemed unsinkable because of its 16 watertight compartments combined with it double bottem. Theroy was it could have 4 compartments flooded and still stay afloat.
    9. it was to dark and calm that night, and from wat is known they only had 30sec from when they spotted the berg to turn it.
    10. The most famous one is the band did play the whole night and went down with the ship.
    11. For the movie its self they built an almost full sized replica.
    12. This is the first movie to show the ship breaking apart. Cause nobody believed it did till it was found in 1985, because all the survivors were called liers.

Also some survivors who were on the lifeboats heard gunshot-like sounds as the ship was sinking but couldn't point out where exactly the gunshot sounds came from. Also, some survivors claimed that they heard roaring-like sound and ripping metals as the ship broke in half. Imagine in the middle of the ocean, pitch black, cold and freezing and all you hear are screams of people.

I would love to see the conversation between James Cameron and his Setdesigner. James: "Ok, for this movie we need models of the ship. A 10 meter model for the flyby and sea shots, a 50 meter for the close up and the braking and a full scale."
Setdesigner: "Sorry, did you say FULL scale, Sir?" Cameron: "Yes, why?"
Setdesigner: "Because we are talking of a 270 meter, 50.000 tons ship?" Camoron: "I know, whis will look epic!"

So Im a huge Titanic enthusiast since I was a kid. So I love this movie and peoples reactions. I have to admit, right when you started the video, and especially when you mentioned that you wanted to watch ET the extraterrestrial instead, I was little doubtful of a good reaction. But man, I could see within moments that you all were getting captivated. Its a spell bounding film that you get so invested just with the characters, you forget about the iceberg. This is one of my favorite reactions of Titanic . Dont every worry about not saying anything for a while, being speechless says more than any comments! Bravo. Oh and pretty much everything is historically accurate except the jack and rose story. A lot the dialogue exchanged by real life characters were actually said and reported by witnesses who survived. Every detail is accurate from the pattern on the plates and having the original company’s that made Titanics carpet , still in business today, make exact replicas of the carpet pattern used in the film.

She fell in love with a boy her age who was as free as her heart was… instead of being forced to be with a wrinkly old man ( I know he’s not but to a teenager, yes.) those crazy hormones and mad feelings of love and lust OMG goodnight! They both never felt that before and it ruled out over obligation.

PS- also, there were survivors so they definitely had their stories as research etc. There was also a huge trial after the sinking for the white star line I believe. That’s where ismay was kinda permanently labeled a coward and he never lived it down. (Not sure if u remembered their names but he was the one who stole a seat in the lifeboat.) He wasn’t the captain, but all who built and worked as a higher up on the ship were always expected to go down with their ships. So .. he kinda earned that label. 😬

Some Titanic myths perpetuated by this movie:
    Titanic's rudder was small.
It wasn't. Olympic and Britannic had same sized rudder, it never got redesign. Olympic was commented by her wartime Captain Sir Bertram Hayes as surprisingly maneuverable for its size. This maneuverability helped Olympic dodge and ram the U-boat in WW1.
If we think about it, Titanic had roughly 37 seconds after spotting the iceberg and within that time, Titanic almost avoided the iceberg.
Number of lifeboats were reduced because the boat deck looked cluttered.
It wasn't. Number of lifeboats were based on Board of Trade regulations. No ships at the time had enough boats for all. Lifeboats were used to ferry passengers from sinking ship to rescue ship, not hold everyone for a long time.
Ismay forced Captain Smith to speed up the ship for records.
He didnt. Ismay was discussing about Titanic's perfomance and comparing it to Olympic. This was changed in the movie, to keep up with the "villain Ismay" narrative made up by Ismay's rival William Hearst who was known for yellow journalism.
    Officer Murdoch shooting himself.
It still not confirmed if Murdoch's death was suicide. Two officers were at starboard side (Murdoch and Wilde), but no survivors could identify who shot himself among those two.
    Titanic was unsinkable.
Titanic, like any other ships, was advertised and described as practically unsinkable based on her new innovative watertight compartment design. Shipbuilder magazine first described Olympic class ships as practically unsinkable. Whjte Star Line also claimed "we made these ships as unsinkable as we could". Then this got exaggerated and soread by press.
The quote "even God can't sink the ship" is often attributed to the ship's owner/captain saying. This isn't true.
Only account of someone saying God can't sink the ship comes from Walter Lord's book A night to remember. 2nd class passenger Sylvia Cadwell says she got that reply from a deckhand carrying luggage when she asked about the unsinkable rumour.
Murdoch put the ship in reverse after spotting the iceberg which reduced turning capacity.
He did not. The order given after seeing the iceberg was a Stop order. Fireman Frederick Barrett, Greaser Frederick Scott, trimmer Thomas Dillon all testified it was Stop.
    Captain Smith ignored warnings.
All warnings Titanic got were posted in the chart room. Warnings on April 14 didn't put icebergs in their direct path. Most of them were 10-20 miles North to Titanic's route. Two warnings, from Mesaba and Californian, regarding the exact icefield Titanic encountered didn't reach the bridge.
All of Titanic's boilers were lit and the ship sped up despite warnings.
From crew testimony, it is evident that the last 5 single ended boilers weren't lit. Titanic therefore never reached top speed. Titanic was doing 21½ knots of her service speed.
From testimonies of 11 other captains, it was found that it was Standard practice to maintain speed until they actually saw ice. If path ahead was clear, they would continue in the service speed.
The 3rd class passengers weren't deliberately locked below.
Stewards went and brought most kf them to the aft well deck and they were gathered at the 3rd class general room. They were temporarily held back from entering the B Deck. They were only held back by waist high gates, which most of them jumled and got past. The tyoe of gates shown in the movie were at the crew areas and mailroom to segregate passengers from crew area.
3rd class were segregated from other classes in compliance with US immigration laws.

You are awesome. I did know some of that but I didn't know how much was not true. For myriad reasons. Is it also true that if theyd hit the iceberg head on they would still have had a loss of life but not nearly as many? The lifeboats not being filled to capacity is 100% true I believe, one leaving with. 12.and molly Brown wanting to rescue people and how many died in the water before they rescued six. either way, tragic.

    • @gokulgopan4397
      @gokulgopan4397 3 месяца назад +1

@@evanirvana500 hitting head on is till debated among historians. At the time, most common collisions were with other ships. So ships were designed for such a scenario. There were high chances of survival if it was a ship-to-ship head on. Iceberg is a solid wall of ice. With the type Titanic hit, at that speed, we can't be sure. Most probably Titanic might've sank. The truth is, no one would know 100%.
There were some reasons for lifeboats not being filled. Major reason was the reluctance of passengers themselves. If we think about it, with such fragile wooden boats, people didn't like the idea of getting stranded in the ocean hoping for rescue. In the initial stages, the ship seemed to hold on.

    • @evanirvana500
      @evanirvana500 3 месяца назад

@gokulgopan4397 what about molly brown? Some tales said she did commandeera boat to save ppl, others said no she didn't. But with only 6 being pulled out I'd say only the one went. Can't remember the guys nsme. Btw I got a little something for YOU. I have a connection to the titanic. I'm related to John wanamaker of wanamaker's department store (I think a great great uncle or something, I dont know any of them) which had I the wireless on top of their building and tho I know it's a myth (the further into history anything goes, the more myths abound) that sarnoff was like the hero that got first msgs of sinking, he did still wirk tirelessly transmitting passenger names ect. Wasn't also titanic first ship to use sos after trying the old one?
