@@highgaming6444 New players to lazer will build a habit of reading sliders (and consequently circles) more consistently. This is arguably better for new players because the old system gave barely any feedback on whether you're tapping passive rhythm objects (i.e. sliders) on time, which could mess up the reading of circles. The slider acc pp change also does a good job compensating for this change.
@@Naan-E I think overall its nice. The issue was that its been s long with the older way sliders worked, of course people wouldn't like it if lazer just made it harder too acc with no reward. But now, I see no problem with it.
Here's my list of what could be added/changed in the next updates: - settings sync with the servers/cloud so every time we download Lazer on the new PC we don't have to setup everything all over again each time - multi-select Beatmap download in song explorer within the game so we can download all the maps we like in bulk instead of painfully clicking each and every single one - add a button that downloads all your favourited beatmaps for you and imports them to the game - within the song explorer - it could happen when you instead of clicking the download button you click on the song itself and it takes you to the info page of that song. At that point you wonder "how the heck do I go back one page instead of me exiting the page and going back, scrolling to where I need and doing everything all over again?". You should make it an option (if it isn't implemented already) or make it more clearer for user that they have that option, maybe adding a button in upper left corner? Something along those lines
You don't need to select every single beatmap, you can just select all, drag them to the taskbar (in Windows at least), and drag to the game's windows.
i dont know how selecting and downloading is better than just clicking the download button, i feel like we are looking at the wrong problem which is the download button being 2 pixels and making it so you can accidentally open the details page of the beatmap
sorry to break it to you but they're never gonna add something that incentivizes the player to do bulk downloads, if you didn't know there's a strict limit on downloading beatmaps too quickly
Can we introduce pp and score ranking for each year in osu!lazer? In these rankings, only maps from a specific year would count towards pp or score, like just maps from 2007 or 2018 for example. I think this would be incredibly refreshing and interesting. We already have similar pp rankings on sites like osuchan, but only few people participate and it would be much more appealing to have them directly in the official game. As an older player I’d love to come back after years, but I’d prefer not to compete in pp with Sotarks maps or other current meta maps like Sans. It would also be great to have the option to display rankings by custom periods, like 2009-2014 for instance. And score ranking would finally make more sense, as there’s limited number of maps for each given year. Medals could also be given for completing or fc every map for a specific year, like 2013 completionist etc.

I have been a player of Osu for 2 years every single day and I reach top 1000 6 years ago Then I decided to study a lot and become a developer Some weeks ago I found out Osu was open source And it really amazed me to see my favorite game open source Im mainly a web developer, the fact that Osu website, which looks SUPER cool is made using PHP was 🤯 for me The combo PP system was a huge pain, the nerves and trembling while finishing a map was incredibly frustrating as well as rewarding This is definitely one of the most important moments in Osu since cookiezi came back in 2017-2018 😂 I love what you guys have created, and how good quality it has, I admire the devs and community a lot. Like me, many people has grown up and no longer have time to play, Osu is a very high time consuming game if you want to be competitive and have fun playing hard maps I might come back not only as a gamer but also as a contributor 😊
Awesome update! Something i'd like to bring up as one of the 12 linux lazer players (arch, all amd, gnome) is i used to experience quite a few microstutters during gameplay, i guess a recent update fixed it somewhat but it still happens, with audio glitches as well. Nothing major but it can mess you up with that 1/5th of a second of audio and visual skipping when you have a good combo. May have something to do with the audio library you use that was mentioned in an older video. Thank you for the update
i was gonna say its because you're probably using an nvidia gpu but you have all amd nvidia's drivers for linux suck so much that steam can make your computer stutter

Please don’t have mixed feelings about combo scaling removal, it’s literally the best change I’ve ever seen to the pp system and if people not liking it for no reason gets it removed I’ll actually quit. Having 1-2 misses obliterate an objectively good score is complete shit. If anything they should just work on improving the system without combo scaling in the picture.
Can't wait for this rework. My current top play is 154pp, but in the rework I'm getting multiple 160+pp plays and even a 175pp on a 6.7 star I popped off on lol. My highest star pass is barely 7 stars if you don't count vivid, so idk how that happened
would it be possible to have a “universal” skin that you could edit? that is lets say i wanted to use the legacy key counter i could just change it on one skin and it would affect that element on all other skins i’d switch to right now, its cumbersome to import a new skin and having to make the same changes each time and discourages switching skins
I’ve been a firm believer in the fact combo scaling should get removed ever since i started playing pay in 2014. Whenever I’ve brought it up, people always defend it for some reason. They say consistency and stamina are very import when playing osu! and should reward a lot of PP. And I do understand that POV, I just don’t like that. But because I’ve only ever heard replies about defending combo scaling, this change is so odd to me. I feel so happy, but I feel like it also must be a dream or something, a change almost only made for me, because I know SOOOO many people in the osu! community would prefer combo scaling.

There is no real skill difference between a drawing tablet (which doesn’t output a screen) and a touchscreen (which as you can imagine, does) while employing a “drag” technique. If a drawing tablet is not punished with its absolute area, neither should a touchscreen in which you use it as if it were that same drawing tablet. The only place that a touchscreen would have an advantage (if you’re not using 2 hands) is with the No Scope mod, which doesn’t give extra pp anyways.
@@ap-qd9xf I disagree with this take. I've tried lazer on phone, and I am complete trash at dragging on the screen. Maybe with a stylus of some kind I would have a different opinion, haven't tried.

I also noticed that sometimes dragging in a touchscreen also adds a bit of blindspot, so I think a nerf may not be needed as it had already been overcome by the blindspot caused by our hand or finger getting in the way while looking at the screen Ill take back my previous take

I do agree with the argument that CSR may nerf the feeling of getting those plays a little bit. But I see it as a change that opens more avenues for people to explore and challenge themselves at the game. Instead of pp being the only drive, now they can also give a shit about acc even if they miss. You can actually fall back on acc now if you miss. That gives it more meaning imo. And grinding can still be nerve racking since just one miss at the wrong time can lose you like, 60pp. Subsequent misses aren’t much more forgiving either, cutting off at least half of the first miss in my experience. Basically, CSR lets you challenge yourself in new ways and hopefully find more ways to enjoy the game past just pp gains.
use opentabletdriver they should fix that so people don’t have to if they for whatever reason don’t want to but at least for now that should get it working
Yeah Lazer should have no problem detecting tablets that OTD supports. Even on Linux, I got OTD barely functioning and Lazer instantly locked in on and worked with my tablet
Hands down the best lazer update yet with the removal of combo scaling. FINALLY! Thank you! It will finally feel rewarding and fun to play the game again without needing to constantly restart a map if you do a single miss early.
I need this so bad 😡 but they are afraid of the rankings getting flooded by 1.01x rate. They should make the "unranked" feature work differently: award pp, exclude from leaderboards. Nobody cares about the score anyway. I wouldn't see any problems with adding a toggle that sorts the leaderboard by PP, including unranked plays. PP leaderboards when 🙏
I would say definitely try it out, there's no reason not to. Then from there, you can decide if you like it more. But don't only try it for like 2, minutes, you won't get the full experience
This is going to be an amazing update because what i can see is because relax gamemode using the same system almost which means theorectically if this ever happends we could get a relax ranking system
the computational challenge of updating a billion scores across years and millions of players is such an interesting computer science challenge, wish it went more in depth on the deployment of the update

Especially for DT (currently only 1.10x) and wind up/down/difficulty adjust (currently 0.5x which is OP on some very hard maps). Do you think HT 0.9, 0.8 etc. speed deserves other multipliers than just og HT 0.75 speed (0.3x multiplier)? It would be coherent with how mod multipliers for DT work

Instead of pp being the only drive, now they can also give a shit about acc even if they miss. You can actually fall back on acc now if you miss. That gives it more meaning imo. And grinding can still be nerve racking since just one miss at the wrong time can lose you like, 60pp. Subsequent misses aren’t much more forgiving either, cutting off at least half of the first miss in my experience.
Basically, CSR lets you challenge yourself in new ways and hopefully find more ways to enjoy the game past just pp gains.

Yeah Lazer should have no problem detecting tablets that OTD supports. Even on Linux, I got OTD barely functioning and Lazer instantly locked in on and worked with my tablet
Hands down the best lazer update yet with the removal of combo scaling. FINALLY! Thank you! It will finally feel rewarding and fun to play the game again without needing to constantly restart a map if you do a single miss early.

I need this so bad 😡 but they are afraid of the rankings getting flooded by 1.01x rate. They should make the "unranked" feature work differently: award pp, exclude from leaderboards. Nobody cares about the score anyway. I wouldn't see any problems with adding a toggle that sorts the leaderboard by PP, including unranked plays.

I would say definitely try it out, there's no reason not to.
Then from there, you can decide if you like it more. But don't only try it for like 2, minutes, you won't get the full experience
Personally I've gotten used to it. Maybe it's because I've been pushing acc on purpose, but slider acc isn't a huge issue for me anymore.

I like the fact that you explain things using interactive graphs. Btw when should we expect score multipliers for to be finetuned? Especially for DT (currently only 1.10x) and wind up/down/difficulty adjust (currently 0.5x which is OP on some very hard maps). Do you think HT 0.9, 0.8 etc. speed deserves other multipliers than just og HT 0.75 speed (0.3x multiplier)? It would be coherent with how mod multipliers for DT work
