This is why I miss you so much Maddie! You were born to do this busy business lady! Great picks! Read most of them but I got blood feud from today and i am so excited to read it. Do the these recommendation videos often! Omar make her!
I'm currently re-reading Hillbilly by Eric Powell about a man Called Rondel who basically wanders around the countryside killing witches/demons etc. Awesome books with beautiful art. Can't beat anything done by Junji Ito. He really knows how to get under people's skin. Thanks for the video and recommendations.
After watching this video, I started searching my local comic book shops to see who would possibly be carrying these comics. But after googling a bit, I thought about maybe seeing if a local library had any. I haven't checked out a book from a library in over 15 years. But to my surprise, the three I wanted to check out (Archie, Harrow County, and Abbott) were on the shelves of the library 1 mile from my house. I know it might not be the same for everyone, but I do recommend using your local library to check out new comics. Thanks so much for these recommendations!
Trying to get vol 3 of nailbiter and vol 2 of Harrow County is like trying to find Rocking horse crap..any chance Omar could work his magic and get Reprints of said Novels..??!!!
Was looking for both of these the last 5/6 months with no joy. Managed to get both within a week of each other this very week. Nothin better than completing a run! Keep looking , they’re out there 👍🏼
I will be picking up Death wins a goldfish,it sounds like a fun book to read. When reading this book I will hear the late great actor Norm McDonald voice in my head and remember him as playing death on the Family Guy tv show.
Great video! Always good to see some Cullen Bunn love, the man is like a horror machine, always writing great books. Really enjoying the books he is putting out right now (The Last Book You'll ever Read, Lucky Devil, Parasomnia & Basilisk). I'd like to recommend the Vault Comics stuff: their books are almost all amazing and their horror line is out of this world! They released some of the best horror books of the last few year, like The Plot, The Autumnal, These Savage Shores, Black Stars Above and Shadow Service. Also Image's Killadelphia (the book is so good!) and the DC horror stuff, Joe HIll's inprint in great! EDIT: oh, and speaking of Swamp Thing, Ram V's current run is easily one of the best books around right now
@@NearMintCondition Same here! We are lucky to have such a unique and creative voice in Ram V these days! I'm still recovering from that thing of beauty that was The Many Deaths of Laila Starr! Such a special book
My favorite horror graphic novels are Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, Jamie Delano's Hellblazer, & Neil Gaiman's Sandman. Basically I'm a big Vertigo fan. Those are the big three for me.
That's an awesome top 3 right there and all 3 of them are on my list as well. Along with Moore's Providence Trilogy from Avatar and the Mignola-Verse (mainly Hellboy and the BPRD spinoff series) from Dark Horse.
Thanks for the video and recommendations! Uzumaki is one of my favorites. I'm currently re-reading Tomie. Afterlife With Archie is good, I think you'll enjoy. If you do check out Jughead: The Hunger.
I'd very much like to recommend a mini-series called Black Hole by Charles Burns. Originally published by Fantagraphics in the late '90's.. You can find TPB and HC editions from B&N or Amazon. The fact that it is still in print after 20+ years says a lot about the quality of the series, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
Maddie. Great video as always and You look beautiful. I went to get "Harrow County"on that beautiful cover but it is not longer available, so I get the omnibus version (volume 1 and 2). The Bad news is the omnibus 1 will be available on December. Thanks for the video. Take care.
Great video! Thanks for the recommendations. You gave me a couple of great new reads for spooky season. My recommendation is a series that was just coming out when you posted this video: The Me You Love in the Dark. It's a beautiful, dark, and disturbing story about an artist who moves into an old house in a small town to gain inspiration but not at all what she was expecting. It's from Skottie Young and Jorge Corona. Just gorgeously atmospheric and creepy.
Here’s what I read this year that fit the criteria for spooky: Stray Dogs by Tony Fleecs, At the Mountain of Madness, The Hound and other stories by Gou Tanabe, & The Strange Tale of Panorama Island by Suehiro Maruo.
I love Uzumaki it's such a wild ride and love the aspects of the spiral that's affecting everyone and everybody in the town. I can't wait to see the anime tv series and saw the teaser trailer it's looks like the drawings from the manga
Great recommendations! Why did you not like Sabrina Chilling Adventures comics vs the Netflix series? If you like Death Wins a Goldfish, check out Death and Sparkles. Death and a unicorn named Sparkles become best friends. It's adorable, funny, and covered in glitter. How can you lose?
I really felt like the chilling adventures comic was pretty boring and the art didn't lend itself to the story well. I felt like the show did a much better job exploring the themes and characters. Really brought it to life. Death and sparkles ABSOLUTELY sounds like my kind of fun book - M
I don't see it mentioned, but Dark Ark by Bunn is another good horror series. It's about a second ark that was built while Noah built his ark. The "dark ark" saves all of the monsters from the flood.
Glad to see Mad's again, maybe seeing if i can still get the swamp thing absolute.. heard a lot of good about that book.. otherwise, not really in too Horror books, other then the classic EC stuff.
After life with Archie is more like Archie meets walking dead. It's not like any other Archie book I've ever seen, but I do think it's my favorite Archie.
PSA: Nailbiter HC’s all are OOP!, very, very hard to find. ALL three HC volumes if found, are super expensive. Great Reviews! Great choices! Will pick up Rachel Rising Omnibus due to your recommendation.
Ik I'm late, one of my favorites is definitely Sea of Sorrows from IDW. The art for the underwater setting is spectacular. Its a shorter read, just a bit over 120 pages, but my god the underwater's darkness is so ominous and is done so well. Dont want to spoil even the premise, its a great read!
I think a great recommendation for your all ages section would be Beasts of Burden from Dark Horse. Any Dog/Cat lovers would probably really enjoy it too.
@@davidranderson1 yessir that is such a phenomenal, underrated series. I love the whole eldritch horror atmosphere mixed with the lovable pets aesthetic. Believe it or not there are some scenes in it that are absolutely gut wrenching

The whole “darkness trucker” thing sounds crazy, the book really does a solid job of worldbuilding and has a really interesting visual style. Walking Dead is also a must-read horror book. 140 something issues spread across 4 compendiums, but it is incredible.
