. . . Jerone! Please consider employment with a multinational investment bank and financial services holding company because while you are currently unsure (or whether you decide to go the accounting or engineering route after all), they will fund your education on the front end and that's real--at least when it comes to the Big Five.
Jerone survived racism, homelessness, financial struggles, and a life-threatening illness... and folks are saying this is the most relatable episode! I’m glad he’s making it, but that hurts my heart 🥺
Chandra NYC - Many ppl do...by choice. It’s called “OMAD” or “One Meal A Day”. They use it to lose weight, reverse, diabetes, and hypertension, as well as other diseases. They will usually eat a meal that is high in nutrition and low in sugar and junk.
@@aao449 Yes! I thought of the OMAD movement, too, which happens to be really popular among well-paid tech workers etc, but it goes to show what a privilege it is to make that a lifestyle - they're eating one, large nutrient-dense meal; shopping or ordering from green grocers/delivery systems.

This man had 30,000 dollars in student loans and didn't graduate from college. He earns 25,000 dollars a year. And still manages to save 10,000 dollars a year. Mad Respect 🙌🏽
This is by far one of my favorite Millennial Money Videos. Much respect to this man. He is the epitome of doing a lot with a little. The fact that he tries to save $10,000 per year while only making $25,000 is an amazing accomplishment. Jerone, you are a rockstar. Keep up the amazing work. I couldn't agree more. I make 4x what he does and still can honestly not say i am anywhere near as good at managing my money or investing like i should. ....for sure, we need more of these average hard working folks out there to represent. I really enjoyed the underdog stories related to personal finance!
Having watched some "How to be a millionaire" videos. I can say, no, he won't become one, at least not with a normal job or a normal wage. In 30 or 60 years with intelligent investing? Sure, that's doable for many people. But 10 years requires 150k and saving the vast majority of that for ten years.
Chels B. Ya that’s the weird part. Those are prolly the people in the comments hating that he needs a better salary...which he does but they acting like you just get a 20 dollar an hour job easy peasy
This guy has a good head on this shoulders. Become a real estate agent man. If your hustling that hard now, that same effort will make you $100k your first year.
So much respect for this man who does so much with so little. He has such a positive attitude despite the circumstances which is SO admirable. Rooting for him...he deserves the world!
Saving/investing $10000 on a $25000 salary is actually insane, the majority of people who make 6 figures don’t even put that much money away because people in the US tend to spend at or above their salary level because they feel entitled to it. Such an inspiring young man, he has such a bright future
If the average person made 25K and lived with others helping them pay their bills 10K might not be unusual. However may making 6 figures live on their own so their buying power might not be as high as it seems.
Emny De Leon Bookkeeper is like the worst job in accounting out there. All the stereotypes about it being boring and repetitive are made true through that. Plus btw tax has nothing to do with bookkeeping at all.
@@Bobo-jy5mg He mentioned is goal is to possibly get his accounting degree and increase his income. He doesn't have any accounting certification nor an accounting degree. While he works towards those goals he can become a bookkeeper. Which will allow him to adhance his accounting knowledge while making more then what he is currently making. Yes, bookkeeping doesn't always relate to taxes but that can be his nique to set him apart in the market. Starting a bookkeeping business has a low start up cost and even higher return. He can save up and work towards opening up his own CPA business if he wishes to do so.
I’m so impressed with his ability to save on his income. There have been plenty of times in my life where his savings would have put me to shame on a higher income.
I'm not sure how he is doing that when he brings in around 1200 a month which goes mostly to his bills. I didnt see any mention of amount going toward savings until the $10,000 was mentioned. So I'm assuming its money he doesn't claim? Where did that extra $1000 a month come from? Uber?
@@mOnika-pt6vk I was also attempting to figure that out. Typically with Millennial Money, they display in the budget chart the amount that goest towards savings, but they didn't provide that in his chart. I'm suspecting its because he hasn't driven Uber and Lyft for a majority of this year, his income decreased so his savings rate was adversely effected and is 0. So maybe prior to the pandemic with Uber and Lyft he was saving $900 a month.
@@Je.rone_ I was once in a very similar situation as yours. I learned how to code and it changed my quality of life drastically. I went from making 15k a year to almost 100k. I would suggest learning python it's one of the easiest languages and its huge in fintech(finance technology). You can apply everything you've taught yourself so far and start making algorithms to make trade decisions or find trends. Best of luck to you!
He’s correct with advice about python and coding. Please also look into the Per Scholas program for coding. If there is a program located in your area, I think you may qualify. I’m so impressed with your integrity, authenticity and work ethic. You will go far, but must keep this momentum to get you past this stage. You owe it to yourself to see your vision and talents fully explored!
Compared to what? This guy is 23. His income will grow as he becomes more valuable. It’s a ladder not a floor. Of course his income is unequal to someone 45 years old with 20 years experience.
@@edwardlothian2320 He doesn't have to go in debt to have a better life. There are tradesman and programmers/developers making $70k+ without a college degree. College is a choice. I’ve been having a rough time financially. Finally a millennial money episode that makes more sense. Hopefully someone with connections sees this episode and helps him with his dreams. I don’t think he’s dreaming big enough.
I really enjoyed this video! He seems to be aware of his finances and is trying to increase his wealth through different avenues. That $20K loan gave me a mini heart attack but if he did the calculations right and is confident then who am I to say anything. Nice to see he is knowledgeable about investing and is also trying to break into the real estate industry. He might be only making $25K know but I definitely see a bright future for this guy 🌟

Graham has sensed a new millennial money, he cautiously approaches. “What’s up guys welcome to the Graham Stephan Show my name is Graham and welcome to my show”
This is how low income people survive - imagine this strong young man eating only once a day? Being actually homeless and relying on whoever he can for a place to sleep at night? I mean, you can see his hard work, dedication, drive and intelligence is there. But, the system is meant to keep the rich rich. We need to change that. Keep going man. i see good things for you.
Many rich Americans started out just like him---or they were living in dire poverty. Personally, I'm not worried about the rich becoming richer and I don't want to raise their income taxes. I just want an opportunity to earn a paycheck so I can get my slice of the American pie.
@@sagatuppercut2960 You're not going to get a slice of any "American pie" if you don't care about the rich not paying taxes. Someone has to pay. If it's not the rich.... Can you tell me the percentage of rich Americans who started out like him versus the number who inherited or came from wealthy families? Go ahead, look it up.
@@thexxit Yes, the rich have to pay taxes, but so should the rest of us if we want our government to provide us with services. However, there are certain things that I don't need the government to spend money on, such as: a perpetual war in Afghanistan and welfare for illegal aliens. If there can be some creative ways to reduce government spending, we wouldn't need to tax rich people more----or any other class of Americans. One way to save millions of dollars a year would be to make sure dead people don't collect Social Security checks. Also: ending the war on drugs and cutting the military budget in half would save about $500 billion dollars a year. So if the spending gets under control, we'd all benefit with less income taxes and MORE MONEY.💵
I would love to see him as a guest of Graham Stephan or Ellen and be gifted a chunk of money to help him achieve his goals faster. He's so resilient, I loved hearing his story 😍

Survival 101: To save on laundry bills. At night I soak my dirty clothing in wash basins. I put 3 basins in the bath tub at night, fill them with detergent & water. Leave them soaking all night. Jerone, you are so down-to-earth. You stay optimistic despite the struggles in life. I fervently pray that you reach all your goals and dreams. You gonna make it. You got this!
Now let me tell you how real and relatable this episode is . I live in MD and the quality of life is expensive . The average family income is supposedly 60,000- 70,000 and housing is cheaper if you are either in the ghetto or in rural area. I live in Montgomery county and humble house can cost about 500,000 and up. He is indeed inspirational and I pray for his success.
Jerone if u read this I just want to say you have such a great attitude! U started from humble beginnings and despite difficult times you kept your head up. I know you will reach your goals! If you’re good with math you should go into engineering or tech. Accounting is solid but you don’t have to be good at math, just patient and good with using excel and a calculator. Nonetheless I’m rooting for him
He is only 23. There are still huge opportunities ahead; plus, with his money management, thoughtful attitude toward career and education, and determination, I believe he will be achieving his goal and more than that soon . Good luck!

Amen
....for sure, we need more of these average hard working folks out there to represent. I really enjoyed the underdog stories related to personal finance!
90% of adults in the USA are not
Yes this is mostly true.
@Luís Andrade househole income is 60k average is 32k per person
Jerone is incredible. He’ll probably become a millionaire in 10 years.
Amen I pray he gets there 🙏
Having watched some "How to be a millionaire" videos. I can say, no, he won't become one, at least not with a normal job or a normal wage. In 30 or 60 years with intelligent investing? Sure, that's doable for many people. But 10 years requires 150k and saving the vast majority of that for ten years.
I agree, when it’s all said and done, he’ll definitely be doing very well.
He has a major income issue. If he doesn’t up his income, it’ll be very difficult to be a millionaire in 10/15 years.
Dang this guy makes less then me and is killing the savings game
Thank you!!! My friends say the same thing

This guy has a good head on this shoulders. Become a real estate agent man. If your hustling that hard now, that same effort will make you $100k your first year.

@@DouglasLee9 I absolutely agree. I don't think coding is right for his mindset. He's do great in something like real estate.

Thanks for the kind words, i never looked at myself as a positive person, i wish you the best
Saving/investing $10000 on a $25000 salary is actually insane, the majority of people who make 6 figures don’t even put that much money away because people in the US tend to spend at or above their salary level because they feel entitled to it. Such an inspiring young man, he has such a bright future
Not about how much u make, it’s about how much you keep
@@pinkapple6530 Such a true statement
Thanks brock!!
They are entitled to their own money 😂
If the average person made 25K and lived with others helping them pay their bills 10K might not be unusual. However may making 6 figures live on their own so their buying power might not be as high as it seems.
He should look into becoming a bookkeeper since he already has experience in tax and he doesn't need a degree to become one.
Thanks for the tips I'll look into that
Black Vito - Moneyology How is it possible to survive on 25,000 isn’t Maryland Expensive
I was thinking the same thing. I have a degree in accounting and was like, "nooooo don't do it."
Nice to see someone on the lower spectrum when it comes to salary!
I’m so impressed with his ability to save on his income. There have been plenty of times in my life where his savings would have put me to shame on a higher income.
My advice to all millenials: try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value.
100% the truth
Mmmm... I like that!
yes! love this. Because when you do become a person of value, you actually feel somewhat fulfilled.
Einstein said it first.lol
Good advice
Good for him pushing to save $10K on a $25K salary! I commend him 👏🏾
I'm not sure how he is doing that when he brings in around 1200 a month which goes mostly to his bills.
This is a smart and disciplined man. Once he raises his income level, he’s gonna he golden.
Thanks! sincerely jerone
I can resonate with him. I also ate only 1 meal a day to save money for about 5 years
Hope you've regained your weight coz 1 per day is serious
Omad diet
Eating multiple meals a day is not even a tradition of the past. It was much more common for people to eat one big meal a day before bed.
Blacks seems to be having lesser opportunity in average as compared to the White people in the USA.
Yeah it sucks. Not only having to eat one meal but the meal you eat is so small in and of itself.

The income inequality in this country is shocking and disgusting.
Compared to what? This guy is 23. His income will grow as he becomes more valuable. It’s a ladder not a floor.
Of course his income is unequal to someone 45 years old with 20 years experience.

This is how low income people survive - imagine this strong young man eating only once a day? Being actually homeless and relying on whoever he can for a place to sleep at night?
