- Today I go on a stroll through Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur and tell the story of Malaysia's struggle for independence. It was really fascinating learning about Malaysia's independence and how different it was from Indonesia's path towards becoming an independent country. In the end, they both overcame their colonizers and were able to become independent, something everyone should celebrate. In this video, I share with you how Malaysia gained its independence and how it differed from Indonesia. Stay tuned for more videos in Kuala Lumpur.

So this is something I like to ponder from time to time and I'm curious what you guys think. How do you think history would of played out if WW2 never happened and Japan never occupied Indonesia and Malaysia? Keep it civil, and let me know what you think...
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻✌🏻✌🏻
How about if the Dutch never occupied indonesia.??? Either way...it's disgusting but it's history and will never happen again...guaranteed💯💯
If Malaysia and Indonesia were not colonized, it would be possible for our country to become one country on behalf of the Nusantara. But what can I do, the Netherlands colonized Indonesia and Britain colonized Malaysia, so now we are two countries.
Japanese occupation only adding some fuel of independence spirit
The despair of japanese occupation throughout asia
Well there's an idea to unified Malaysia Indonesia and Philippine it just dont work out
The consequences of Hitler’s lost in Europe and the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki created a power vacuum, paving the way for decolonization throughout Asia and Africa. Indonesia’s and Vietnam’s revolution against the Netherlands and France, as well as India’s passive resistance movement against the British began a decolonization domino effect which swept Asian and African countries for four decades. Malaya and Singapore is a prime example.
Here is a little trivia, Malaysia gain independence through negotiations. The malaysian leaders at that time convince britain that it would be more amicable if the Malaysian people run the country on its own, although Malaysian ran the country the british could still keep and enjoy the spoils of their investment in rubbers, palm oil, mining and so fourth. But.....(check out raid dawn in youtube) unbeknownst to bristish the malaysia gov secretly infiltrated the british stock market and bought over equities of several big companies in malaysia own by the british such as Guthrie, Sime Darby and et cetera, thus taking over control of investment in Malaysia once owned by the british.
whoa that's interesting
Yes, Most of Malayan leaders are well educated at that time including the Malay Sultans. They know the law and play by the rules.
kindly be inform..Malaysia is not a republic country. Malaysia is a federation of 13 states and 3 federation teritories. Malaysia is rules by a mornarchy sistem with a parlimentary democracy goverment
@MengKucing means you are not malaysian..every malaysian know who is yang dipertuan agong and 9 malay rulers..
I am very impressed with your historical knowledge about Malaysia.
Indonesia's independence is similar to the US independence, they declared it and go to war.
US declared independence on July 4, 1776 (celebrated as the independence day)
But the British only recognized the US on September 3, 1783. (7 years later)
Indonesia declared independence on August 17, 1945 (celebrated as the independence day)
But the Dutch only recognized Indonesia on December 27, 1949. (4 years later)
Sukarno was also a fan of US founding fathers and also use the term "Indonesian Revolutionary War" between 1945-1949, inspired by the American Revolutionary War between 1776-1783.
Yes, it's true
malaysia gained independence through negotiation that took years , UMNO helped created the independence of malaysia, that the members of UMNO even gave their gold inorder to get money for tickets to England for our 1st PM, one of the conditions that the british govt wanted was the chinese and indians that the brits brought to malaya to be given citizenship, our govt humbly agreed and our sultan granted them citizenship eventho during the british colonisation of about 150 yrs they were not given citizenship. british always like to mess the countries that they colonised before, to show that once they leave the country, that country would be in a mess. however, our govt worked hard so that all of malaysians be able to live harmoniously, like for example, there xmas, good friday, chinese new year, deewali, eid fitri and eid adha holidays,etc...nothing's perfect, there be bumps once in awhile, but overall we Malays are tolerant people...i am sure you will definitely enjoy malaysia, visit the kampungs...they are mostly very welcoming...
Not UMNO alone that help gain independence but MCA and MIC played equally important roles.
UMNO at that time doesn't have as much power as today because back then, the entire Malay population including the Sultans only own 0.3% of the economy. The Chinese own 20%, while the Indians were running the British government administration at that time and were familiar with British laws and British style of negotiations.
The Malays paid for Tunku's ticket but Tun Tan Cheng Lock and Tun Sambatan paid for their own tickets. All three went to UK to negotiate our independence.
Thats the reason why Chinese and Indians have our mother tongue language schools written in our constitution and thats why we are recognize as citizens of Malaysia.
amd by the way Tunku didnt just gave us citizenship because he was kind. The British insisted he gave it orelse we won't get independence.
Why? Cos most of the government administrators back then were Indians and majority of the managers in British estates and tin mines were Chinese. Not to mentioned, thr Chinese were the ones that owned most of thr small businesses then.
The malays back then were mostly subsistence farmers and fishermen. The royal looks rich but they infact are not and only a handful were educated.
The malays then were not ready to run the country by themselves.
Hope you read up more on Malaysian history. Read beyond our history books. Those alone wont help your understand our real history
Go watch Fahmi Reza's "Sepuluh Tahun sebelum Merdeka" to understand about our history NOT mentioned in our History books
@@calvyncraven1141 you sound so #*^+* arrogant, no wonder you people were once collaborators of the british that colonised malaya becus you were with the brits and as were the brits back then, they tried to suck all of our natural wealth and man made wealth and you were with them ..ungrateful *.+# … after what you did and we still accept u as malaysians like us you still arrogant… if u were in indonesia and behave like this… see how they will act towrds you.. ungrateful +#%+@
Technically the country that achieved independence on August 31st 1957 was the Federation of Malaya (Persekutuan Tanah Melayu). Malaysia, which then comprised the Federation of Malaya, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak, only came into being on September 16th, 1963.

People keep comparing Malaysia with Indonesia, yes indeed we're brother but our history is different. We gain our Independent from British with peace while Indonesia with force. Even though they're both western country,British and Dutch are different
hi Nick, the buildings used to be fully occupied by the Judiciary and various other government departments. They've now moved to the new administrative capital of the country, Putrajaya. A similar idea to what Australia did with Canberra, and now Indonesia is planning the same to move their capital to the island of borneo. Currently, there are plans to finalise budgets to restore all the buildings in the area with plans for their future use.
It take about 12 years the old Malaysian leader learned to manage the country. without bloodshed or civil war. Those 12 years saw various power shifts, technology transfers and others. 12 years of gradual and complete transition of power after 12 years. for me it's worth it. but your knowledge of history is very good my friend. I'm impressed, you read a lot. miss u bro..
16:38 Nick, Britain was not able to maintain their vast empire anymore after WWII. They and majority of Western European countries were just exhausted psychologically and more important, financially. That's why they left Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, India, Malaysia, and their other colonies (which often left without care and causing more trouble, eg Israel-Palestine conflict, India-Pakistan separation, and mayhem in Mid-East politic since then). Marshall plan was really a thing that help them to recuperate after the War.
Even the Dutch after WWII, they initially acquired loan from US so that they could rebuild their army (NICA and KNIL) to reoccupy Indonesia or their precious East Indies as they called. Hence the 4 years struggle for Indonesian independence that ended in 1949. In the end, even US retracted their support for Dutch in this conflict.
So, it is not they realize that colonization era is over, rather their financial limitation force them to do so. If they had the money, they won't let their colonies out from their grasp.
If you read about Suez Canal nationalization, you'll see how weak the British are after the WWII and how strong US came out after that.
Bener Indonesia lebih berharga oleh belanda....makanya mau direbut kembali
Thanks for the stories Tiza.
Rohingya in Myanmar is also their fault. Arakan Division was under British.
Japanese was really smart. Prior to world war II, Japanese troops sent spies to Malaysia and opened up shops like cobblers, key makers, blacksmiths etc. They studied alot about Malaysia and the people here in detail. They know our weaknesses, and how we live. Then, one day these spies aka business owners suddenly disappeared and the Japanese entered Malaysia. And they came in to Malaysia with bicycle.
Wow i did not know that.
Same as pearl harbour spies
They not only smart but fully sacrificed for their country, though they became a hooker
In the Meiji era, Japan was only allowed to go abroad since 1872 after 250 years of being an exclusive country.
The Japanese census in Malaya (1921) was 2,078 people, 70% of whom were prostitutes and the rest open small business.
Just like in Java (1921) as much as 70% of the 6200 Japanese are prostitutes and the rest are open small businesses.
1939 they come back to japan
1941 they come back to SEA and support japan army as administrator.
True.. i heard in KL near Pudu, there was a photo studio run by a Japanese gentleman - probably an incognito spy who disappeared when the Japanese soldiers arrived
Yeah.. Thank to Thailand, they've got parking lot for their plane and entered into malaysia border by cycling. The British assumed the Nippon soldier would came and entered through Singapore at the 1st place.

Anwar Ibrahim is Indonesians' favorite person... And he's now the Prime Minister of Malaysia!
The border of Indonesia wasn’t clearly defined back then. An Indonesian figure once called Jose Rizal, a Filipino, as Indonesian. The idea of “Indonesia” is really about the decolonization of the region. The entirety of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei was also part of Indonesia’s independence plan until Soekarno declared independence and left us afraid of British meddling. Then there’s Indonesia Raya or Greater Indonesia to unify Malaya, Sarawak, North Borneo, Brunei, and Singapore (essentially states that are still under colonial rule).
Here I cite from a website, “Tan Malaka went on to describe him and Bonifacio as "native Indonesians," in the broader sense of the word as he believed that Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines were once a single nation before the colonizers arrived, as per Guillermo.”
As to why we kept the British for twelve years though, maybe the British weren’t as cruel as the Dutch were. Even today, some of us glorify them directly or indirectly, intentional or not (certainly not me though). Royal Malaysian Police, for instance, celebrates its 215th anniversary this year, Malaya is 65 years old, and Malaysia is 59. Weird? Because it’s literally formed by the British Empire. The founding fathers were Anglophiles. The pro-unification figures like Ibrahim Yaacob didn’t get much support back then and it just didn’t happen. Probably in the future, who knows?
Oh yeah, also, Malaysia wasn’t a single unified colony, unlike Indonesia. It’s easier for Indonesia because they share the same struggle and they were ruled as a single colony hence they develop one Indonesian identity. We were ruled very differently with several governors, high commissioners, agents, and advisors for the monarchs. Our attitude towards the British is similar to Singaporeans’. We don’t hate them to the core, but we acknowledge that they colonized us and stole our resources.
How Indonesia Independence ? :--
Negotiations over the internal and external debts of the Dutch East Indies colonial administration were protracted, with each side presenting their own calculations and arguing over whether the United States of Indonesia should be responsible for debts incurred by the Dutch after the Japanese occupation of Indonesia in 1942. In particular the Indonesian delegations were indignant at having to cover what it saw as the costs of Dutch military action against it. Finally, thanks to the intervention of the United States member of the UN Commission on Indonesia, the Indonesian side came to realise that AGREEING to pay part of the Dutch DEBT would be the PRICE THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY for the TRANSFER OF SOVEREIGNTY . On 24 October, the Indonesian delegations AGREED that Indonesia would TAKE OVER approximately ƒ4.5 BILLION of Dutch East Indies government DEBT.
-- ( Dutch-Indon Round Table Conference 1945)
And I believe the DEBT is not fully paid till now...
They are making preparations for Merdeka Day. That is where the parade is held. I think there is a I ❤KL sign at the end of the field (it's a tourist photo spot) in front of KL City Gallery. You should check out the gallery as it showcases KL's history and architecture. Beautiful architectural models and artwork, etc. It even has a model of the cityscape and what it will look like in the future (i.e new buildings to be built). I'm Malaysian but have not been back home since 2014 so my info might not be up-to-date but do visit the City Gallery!

Regarding Malaysian independence, once the Japanese invaded, Malayans and Borneons (Sabahans and Sarawakians) at that time fought alongside the British, Australian, New Zealand armies and also with the help of the Gurkhas, against the Japanese. In fact, Malaysia is the only country in the world to have actually won the war against communism.
Malayans also actually did fight against the British, but this was prior to the Japanese invasion.
Sabah and Sarawak on the other hand, always had very good relationships with the British. Their biggest enemies then were the Japanese and communists.
BTW, Malaysia is not a republic but a federation.

Britain did not rule all of the Malay Peninsula directly, in varying degrees. The only directly ruled colonies were the Straits Settlements of Penang, Malacca and Singapore; not to mention Dinding in Perak the often forgotten fourth colony. The sultanates grouped into the Federated Malay States (N. Sembilan, Pahang, Perak and Selangor) which were protectorates technically under the Sultan and his court, but in truth however were controlled by a British Resident-General making them all but de facto colonies.
The Unfederated Malay States - Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis and Terengganu - were more autonomous but always under pressure from their own British Residents (I imagine to myself Grima Wormtongue to Theoden in LOTR haha). The British gained control gradually over time. They first established their formal presence in Penang by leasing the island from the Sultan of Kedah who wanted to dissuade attacks from the Siamese by having a British garrison nearby. The British were able to exploit rivalries between the nobility, forge treaties with regional powers (Siamese) to redraw borders, and trade territory with the Dutch in Sumatra to fully extend their hegemony of the peninsula over the decades.
I like to think of this history of Britain being a very bad visitor to your village. He comes and pays rent for a room in one of the houses (Penang) and promises to protect you from the bullies in the neighbouring village (Siam/Thailand). But soon he's causing trouble by getting involved in the politics of your next neighbour's household and his staff (Perak, Larut Wars, the Chinese Secret Societies) and somehow they sign control of the house to him (Pangkor Treaty - in truth your neighbour is too trusting and is to blame here as well). They are then up to similar shenanigans with all the other households in the village (other Malay Sultanates).
Over time the British were pretty much in full control. (The story of Malaysian Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak is equally or even more interesting).
WW2 though a terrible time, paved way to independence. The Japanese military were absolutely brutal especially to the ethnic Chinese. The British suffered one of its biggest military defeats in history with the fall of Singapore to the Japanese - a truly humiliating capitulation to an army that rode down the peninsula to the island on bicycles. By war's end the devastated and weakened European powers could no longer hold onto their overseas possessions. I am no expert historian, but I often thought to myself that even though my forebears were colonized the lesser evil was that it was at least by the British (contrast the brutality of the Belgian Congo yikes)? Compared to other colonial powers they left good systems of governance, public institutions, a legal system, decent infrastructure and were eager to educate the populace (just enough to do what was needed) in order to exploit the land and its resources. Ultimately this led to the formation of an independent Malaya then Malaysia, a constitutional monarchy, and a parliamentary democracy which we are thankful to have today.
By the way, thank you for your very thoughtful and introspective analysis. Wishing you a warm welcome and an enjoyable stay.
British employing different Chinese triads and accidently starting a war between Chinese triads in Perak was funny. I wonder if these triads kept records of their generations like the yakuza did.
Al-Fatihah for our muslim brothers and sisters massacred and oppressed by the Thai government because British drew borders of other's lands they knew nothing of just like they did in other regions causing current conflicts in South Asia and Middle East.
malaysia once was initiated to join with Soekarno to be indonesian republic, but then the British saw this and took another approach, and they try to negotiate with the malaysian to be independent and try to occupied singapore bcs they dont want to lose a trade route to Australia and new zealand. thats why theres an infamous Soekarno's speech that provoke to fight malaysia bcs they reconciled with the colonial. Indonesian in the other hand had to proclaimed their land and nationality by going to a brutal war with the dutch and knil army. it was so brutal that they make a documentary and invite all the veterans to indonesia and tell a story about how they tortured and killed the villagers and took their food.

Your history knowledge actually pretty amazing.
It appears to me that you've done a great homework on the basic history of Malaysia and Indonesia. Yes, people have different versions of history (even if I want to speak here, it will take a long time) but you managed to cover almost all of it.
What would happen if WW2 never took place? The best place is to ask are the countries that did not experience colonization - for example - the nearest one is Thailand - they accepted progress without compromising their traditional and culture.
I would imagine, that Malaysia or Indonesia may have done the same thing.
It hurts me to speak on colonization and war. But it teaches us few great lessons :
a) the history of atrocities should never be repeated,
b) to appreciate freedom of Independence.
d) never oppress the "weak", they will always fight back
Although we may not be "there" yet, but we should be working hard to get there.
great lessons! well said, thank you!

Malaysia really is a melting pot - i am personally of Javanese & Arab descent and many other Malaysians are from a variety of backgrounds!
On that note, we look forward to hosting you for a meal while you're in KL, anytime you are free.
Best wishes n keep the videos coming!
interesting, thank you for sharing. I can definitely see how all that would be extremely beneficial when starting a new country, and I see the results! I was very impressed with Kuala Lumpur.
I appreciate the invite but I'm actually already back in Indonesia right now
@@NickKTravel- i'm glad KL impressed you. Was worried you might have gotten a bad experience somewhere! Anyway, we hope to catch you on your next visit here then..the offer still stands anytime! 😁👍
i just said similar to what you did in the first few sentences. but you went much further in detail.
@@Glee73 - thankful for everything right? It could have been worse!
@Ad- oh my goodness. Who are you? I'm a true blue Malysian and am always thankful for everything. Key word here is 'syukur' and gratefulness. We could have been colonised by other nations and things could have been so much worse. I am probably a good 40 years older than you and I am sure have experienced a lot more - my parents survived the Japanese Occupation and the British colonisation. They were grateful they had the opportunity to even go to school during the British occupation. So remember, the keyword here is to be grateful...you'll have less anger & disillusionment in your life my boy. Also if you are also a Malay, do check where your parents are from. They might have descended from Indonesia or Thailand. So don't talk about my forefathers not being here - i am sure neither were yours during Parameswara's time when we were 1st colonised.
During the war, britain sent 2 warships to kota bahru, the repulse and prince of wales. But this was a miscalculation. The japanese were very strong and determined. Both ships were sunk.
Enjoy your day in Malaysia Nick
That's not an abandoned building, that's the Malaysian High court Building....Abdul Samad Building. It is empty because the courts might not be in session. It is preserved as a heritage building and is supposed to reflect the heritage of that time and it is one of the only one that survives.
It's also not true how the soldiers were incapable of holding Malaya and that had nothing to do with Indonesia. Malaya was a British colony and Britain was in ww2 and Indonesia was Dutch and the Dutch had already fallen to the Axis powers (Germany) by then. The problem was not Malayan or Britsh (Punjabi/Nepali) regiments mostly under British India but the problem that the British couldnt care less about the people of the colony they preprotly were defending because all of Britains colony, its wealth and resources were expropriated to the defence of Great Britain......all it took was little Japan to expose its "greatness"..great my ass
EDIT: Before I make an ass of myself, I should actually see the whole vid :)
It's good resume of history of both country but you miss the important point which is why the British choose different way with France and Dutch in term to take back their colonies. The first Battle that the British did after WW2 end was in fact in Indonesia againts the Indonesian Republic which happenend because they didn't know what they face since one of Dutch politician or official lied to the British and said there is no independence movement in Indonesia and theres only mob there so the British came and thing it will easy mission for them just realising the prisoner of war and run the DEI admin until the NICA came back but it's not what they expected. That's why when the Indian wanted their independence quickly they do it fast only 2 year after WW2 since they don't want to experience what they experienced in Indonesia with India and knew the lost India and think Dutch will have to many power if they take back their colony, they change side and supporting Indonesia independence in the UN. Lord Mountbatten book is amazing when explained this.
Happy 31st of August Nick.🇲🇾
>> Actually Malaysia has some rich history with colonization not just from the British. It started in the ancient times with the Srivijaya Empire from Java indonesia. The Srivijaya empire which had its roots from ancient hindu based empires from South India came to south east asian countries led by expeditions by the Chola Empires. The Srivijaya Empire controlled Indonesia and then later spread its rule onto ancient Malaysia.
>> At that time, the kingdom was known as either Kadaram - ancient Hindu name for the state of Kedah, or Malai Oor - which in the tamil language meant Hilled Villages. That word later became to known as Melayu, which means the Malay people. Story goes as there was an exiled South Indian Hindu Kingdom Prince from Palembang, Indonesia by the name of Parameshwara who came and founded Malacca - the state of Melaka.
>> After which the Srivijaya chased Parameshwara away and started to rule the kingdom by building the ports and inviting merchants from all over the world.Melaka became a very important Port of entry to Asia in the ancient times.
>> Then came the Navy from Portugal and the Portuguese battled the Srivijaya Empire and took control of the Ports of Malacca. The Portuguese controlled ancient Malaysia in Malacca for some time and then came the Dutch (from the Netherlands / Holland empire) who defeated the Portuguese and took control of Malacca after that.
>> The Dutch lived in Malacca for about 183 years. They built a few monuments and were notably known in building massive fortresses in Malacca. The dutch won the battle against the Portoguese actually with the help from the kingdom of Johor. Now the State of Johor.
>> Later on, then came British colonization took over Dutch rule. And then came World War 2 Era.During which the Japanese began to take occupation of the country which forced the British Army to flee back to India. It was nearly about the same time when Japanese made a surprise attack bombing of Pearl Harbour against the Americans. This attack marked the beginning for the US forces to get into the WW2 ! .
>> By this time, the kingdom were known as either Malaya or Tanah Melayu and her people began to revolt and go against the Japanese rule. But the Japanese empire being brutal as they are, took any one who went against them by having them all imprisoned, suppressed, tortured or killed outright
>> With the help from British forces, the indian gurkha army soldiers, foreign guerrilla warriors and local soldiers made attempts to strike at the Japanese rule in Malaya. Many battles and skirmishes occurred nationwide. When the US joined in WW2, and dropped the ATOM bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This marked the beginning of the Japanese surrender.
>> After the Japanese surrendered, the British took over again until Malaya had its first ever democratic election in 1955 before independence. Which saw the Alliance party winning the election. The first ever Prime Minister of Malaya were introduced which is Tunku Abdul Rahman.
>> A few years later, after much negotiations and peaceful meetings the British finally gave into the demands of the people of Malaya and its prime minister. Freedom were mandated to Malaya by the British forces with a celebration to mark Malaysia's first Independence Day celebration on August 31st 1957. EXACTLY 65 years ago from today !
>> This day also marked with the appointing the first ever Yang Dirpertuan Agong - Paramount Ruler / King of the Sultans being Tuanku Sir Abdul Rahman ibni Almarhum Tuanku Muhammad. It is his face that can be seen on the Malaysian Currency notes.
So I hope this long History Lesson kinda helped ! Happy Merdeka Day (Independence Day) to you Folks !!!

That little chit chat with a man that got fined is funny. Especially that "so everyone here is in trouble?" 🤣🤣 Imagine you're in a line to pay a fine, then a RUclipsr come and asked you about what you just did lol
I had a good laugh about that, too 😆
Just curious, what kind of visa are you using while in Indonesia?
hey mr.nick your video on tiktok has reached 2.7 million views ,, I always share upload everyday your video
wow, that's a lot!
The video's the one that a malukuan child asked for some money to Nick ha? 😂
@@NickKTravel That's why at that time I asked why you rarely upload on tik tok, because many accounts upload pieces of your video. and many viewers. It's better if it's from your original account. then they are curious and finally visit your profile and there is a possibility to visit your RUclips channel because I saw on your tiktok account linking youtube and instagram links.
I think that is the old court complex if not Mistaken. Welcome to Malaysia Nick.
Amazing the abbandoned old government building, this had an islamic architecture, did'nt know what story , build by English colonialism or Malaysia government..so interesting
Yes, it was actually based on Moorish architecture brought in by the British.
what i understand is that malaysia was freed by the British colonizers, not proclaiming its independence... so the historical meaning is different
Freed? Never. There is political change opposing the british. But they do not want to let go after the war. But we discussed with the british peacefully. We have tin and rubber here. Very rich. But the anti japanese forces(mainly chinese) turn on the british after the war.
Faaaaxxxx👌🏼
Malaysia is in commonwealth and they send troops to serve the queen every year. They love being UK's bitch
So typical indonesian. Please do research more. No colonial want to free their interest especially that are benefiting to them.
So poor..
Terima kasih Nick 👍 selalu hadir untkmu
You're right masjid jamek is not the oldest, you just need to go across the street from masjid jamek and you'll find the oldest mosque in town which is masjid India
@Ad masjid jamek was built in 1909 while masjid india was built in 1883 it was written in stone in front of masjid India
Do you know about the konfrontasi? War between Malaysia and Indonesia?
Didn't Indonesia send their special forces commandos to try to sow discontent and chaos to try taking over East Malaysia shortly after WWII?
Heard those Indonesian commandos was completely annihilated by British and the local tribes in East Malaysia and their heads was cut off and displayed by said tribes.
@@DarkZerol IT was in the 60s, so not really shortly after WWII. And yes, Indonesia sent military there
18:50 Not really, the Brits dont wanna handover Tanah Melayu to the people. They want to establish a nation under their sovereign, the Malayan Union headed by a Brit. But Malays on the other hand, oppose this idea and protest peacefully until the plan was scrapped. Then, they establish Persekutuan Tanah Melayu (PTM) until our independence in 1957.
That why many Indonesia always make a joke that Malaysia gained their independence from the British by " give away "
In all honesty, Indonesians are bitter .
Bitter as their people worked as labourers and doemstic maids inMslaysia.
As they feel insulted that they have to work here instead of Malsyoans working in Indonesia, they accuse Malaysia of looking down on them
Indonesian media is known for its anti Malaysia character
Yes of course 😬
Just because you fight and die for your country doesn't make you more superior. Malaya people at that time know they were small nation but were educated by the Brits so they use their brain to get independence. Why bloodshed if you can get it without killing your own people. Same goes how we get back our wealth from the Brits . We use our brain to launch THE RAID DAWN without the Brits realise whats going on. The KEYWORD IS BRAIN . And till now Malaysia allocate a big sum of money on education.

@@aNt1P414tAO nah anda orang Malaysia nya langsung yang tau detail nya . saya oang Indonesia kurang tau hanya menebak saja selamat hari kemerdekaan 🙏🇲🇾🇲🇾🇮🇩
