- Stuffed Peppers and Shiitake Mushrooms with sweet teriyaki flavor go great with steamed rice. The ground meat is tender and juicy. Very delicious!
How to Make Stuffed Peppers and Mushrooms

3 Bell Peppers
4 Shiitake Mushrooms
150g Ground Beef & Pork Mixture (5.29 oz)
¼ tsp Salt
A sprinkle of Pepper
2 tsp Sake
½ Beaten Egg
2 tbsp Nama-Panko - Soft Bread Crumbs
50g Onion (1.73 oz)
1 tbsp Sake for steaming and baking
- Sauce -
1 tbsp Soy Sauce
1 tbsp Mirin
1 tbsp Sake
1 tsp Sugar
Any kind of Flour
Vegetable Oil
Shichimi - Seven Flavor Chili Powder

I made this last night, though I used mild Italian Sausage (sans casing) since I didn't have ground meat and pork available. I also used Button Mushrooms since I couldn't find Shiitake Mushrooms here.
It was DELICIOUS! Even my son who hates bell peppers devoured all of his.

Mindblown: when Chef turns the onion on its side to make the normally-horizontal cuts. Western chefs tend to make the vertical cuts and the turn the knife horizontal to make the intersecting cuts. Chef's way is so... simple but much more effective!
These stuffed peppers and mushrooms look so delicious. A nice take on a classic, without the intrusive tomato tanginess, which probably gives a nice, clean flavor like in so many Japanese dishes. Gotta try.

Distilled Vodka or just any type of white wine. If you want to find Sake though, you should google your nearby asian markets, or even search for online Sake delivery, it really goes great with most Japanese dishes.

I made this as an appetizer for dinner, but only with mushrooms since bell peppers are huge... My family adored it. My dad even got extra ground meat and mushrooms for tomorrow.
My mother always says that she regrets that she didn't cook this dish for me when I was a kid. According to her, a kid brought a lunch box with this meal to the kindergarden one day and I asked her to cook the same meal, but she didn't know the recipe at that time so she couldn't cook it for me. I don't remember any of the story now, but now finally I can show her this recipe and both of us will be happy.

In Guatemala we have that recipe here, but we leave the peppers completely just take the "hat" off, that way you eat it from the inside and then we cover them with a batter mixture so they fried out, the meat is cooked before. and you can eat it with tomate sauce and put it inside a bread like a sandwich very delicious and this one, I am defenetly going to try it out :D.
