I really love listening to your father talk... He always reminds me of my grandfather. Your father is a treasure and your baby is the one of the luckiest kids around to have a grandpa who is a great cook... I'm jealous 😂
Thank you Lau's for creating these videos. I love how informative daddy Lau is in explaining his reasoning for doing tasks. I can't even eat seafood but I can't stop watching all your videos from start to finish!
That looks delish. My father in law was a great cook. He moved to the US from Canton to escape Communism. Attended High School, then joined the US Army and fought in both the Asian and European Theaters. He used to spend days making great meals. We miss him greatly. This I will make with him in mind. Thank you for showing us.
My favorite type of stuffed peppers. My mom adds meat to the paste and also some green onions. We go light on the sauce, but even then the dish is so delicious! I like that Daddy Lau keeps the sauce separate and only pours it right before serving.
I follow your father's way to make the dish and it is very delicious. My family loves it. I also like the way your father talk. Envy you have such a great father.
This is one of the few things my mom would let me help her prepare so this warms my heart. I’m an expert in adding corn starch and stuffing the paste into the pepper. 😊
I just bought the Dexter chef's knife recommended by Lau, been trying to figure out what to make first with it, now there's no question in my mind it's going to be these! 👍
aaaahhhh- the view of the fridge hits my heart- our fridge too has at least 3 cartons of eggs- LOL 😂❤😂❤😂 Muy mom wanted me to look for your dad's secret to keep the filling in- she uses a mixture of ground pork and fresh fish paste as the stuffing. I will fore sure to show her this video- THANKS!!! ❤❤❤
Love eating these during dim sum. I normally buy the fish paste in the tubs to make this, but I am going to try this recipe since everything is made from fresh ingredients. Thank you for posting!
They look delicious! My Filipina wife makes something very similar with a chopped pork filling like your Dad mentioned. If anyone likes peppers, these are quite good!
My late mom made with a minced pork and Spanish mackerel filling. She also stuffed eggplants, okras, tofu and bitter melons with the same filling. We tried to recreate the same dish last Chinese New Year, the first one without my mom.
Yesss.. many years ago I worked at a Chinese restaurant. The owner used to make these. I soooo loved them. Thank you Soo much for sharing the recipe. I tried once, to make these years ago. Didn't turn out very well. I know the owner used fish balls mixed with shrimp. I just never knew the technique... Again, thank you so much for sharing this. ❤️
I use to love bell peppers, but not anymore because it gives you gas if you eat alot. I love stuffed eggplant and tofu and also mushrooms and also tomatoes. So good. Thank you for sharing how you make the stuff 劉叔叔.
I never thought about serving stuffed peppers as an appetizer or side dish. Thank you for the inspiration! The fish and shrimp filling looks so delicious.
man i love your dad. its like the chef dad i never had :D my mom loves doing tofu, jalapeno peppers, eggplants where is your dad from? that last line he says kind of reminds me of my great-grandmother/grandmother-ish. wonder if same region.
Absolutely love this cultural insight! You have truly inspired my own channel, so thank you for your guidance. True authentic cuisine & skillz. We had small bell peppers with cheese last night but this looks incredible, with a basic marinade. Love the family contribution. How many eggs do you all eat??? Hibb
Thank you for all the wonderful recipes. I have only tried making 1 dish, stir fried noodles and my mom loved it. ❤️ May I please request for your dad’s version of dimsum chicken feet and rice noodle roll with the fried bread inside? I prefer your dad’s version because my mom is Cantonese and very picky with her taste buds. Thank you.
I love how Mr. Lau speaks Hoisan-wah from time to time in these videos. Would it be possible for him to make a video speaking my native language of Hoisan-wah? That would be awesome!
I love Chinese style stuffed peppers and aubergines! I always order the peppers but they are only served as 3 pieces per portion 😂 I will make this at home so I can have more! Already made stuffed aubergines once and we all loved it. Kids thought it was delicious!
I love this dish but I use the food processor to speed up the process. I learned to make this dish from my late mother. All these dishes papa Lau makes reminds me of my late mother.
In Vietnamese culture, we have a similar dish, stuff tomatoes. My mom used to make it when I was a kid in the 80's. She would have some tomato sauce/paste in it, but not so much like spaghetti.
These are the best at dim sum. I get the trio of peppers, tofu & eggplant stuffed this way. And I’m not a huge fan of green peppers either, but funny enough like them this way. Excellent recipe. !
Just learnt how to peel a shrimp in a more efficient way! Thanks, Daddy Lau! At home, Grandma uses the long chili and it definitely has a spicy kick to it. I'll have to try it with bell peppers one day!
I was so worried the pieces would get mixed up! But clearly everything was fine! I laughed when they zoomed in on your faces and it said “pretty girl!” 😂
Typically, corn starch solution (no spices) is always available on the side, then put in to the sauce at the very end. Obviously this method requires experience to know how much corn starch sol'n is needed. Looks delicious. 👍👍👍🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳
Thank you so much for all the recipes! I am wondering if I could use this filling for wontons. Would you recommend modifying it in any way? I am cooking for someone who can eat seafood but not pork. Thank you!
The Tex-Mex chile relleno (shown by name in the video) should only be eaten once in your life. The true Mexican version is simpler. Tex-Mex restaurants here put everything in it: beef, raisins, cooked vegetables etc. and I guess it's all leftovers. Then they bread it and deep-fry it, and cover it with cheese sauce. You will never need to eat another one, or want to:-) That said, this is a much more healthy way to stuff a pepper and similar to the "pepper boats" my Cantonese wife and I made with yellow banana peppers from the garden. We used dried shrimp that were soaked in water.
I have a question - what will you do if you have some filling remaining? I don't wanna waste any of the fish or shrimp 😀 Also i love the family vibe if your channel, i have many recipes saved to try!
I'll have to try this in all the methods described, just seafood, shrimp and pork and a variety of peppers. Awesome. I'd eat this as a main dish haha. Delicious!
This dish bring back memories. If I substitute pork for shrimp due allergies, how long do I have to pan fried them since pork might take longer. Appreciated the old fashioned way of making this dish. 😋Thank you!
多謝劉老爺再有一件精心傑作 每次飲早茶時必食 但現時會自己做 祝劉老爺身體健康 同孫兒及老伴快樂溶溶 !sorry Andy , the reason I don’t use English is giving me some type of affiliation feeling towards our dialect !
One advantage of smashing and chopping the filling by hand versus a food processor, is that less of it goes too waste. Too much can get stuck on the blades and what not of a food processor.
Made this tonight. It was delicious. It took me half an hour to mash the fish and shrimp into a paste. Calories burned probably exceeded calories consumed. I will buy premade fish paste next time to save time :)
This was always one of my faves at dim sum. The fry cart would come around and cook it fresh right to order. So hard to find restaurants that still have the carts here in Vancouver BC. We can however find this paste made fresh in stores and sold in containers at the many Asian markets we have here.
You are lucky. In Montreal the fresh ones no longer available, they used to come from Toronto. The stores only have the frozen ones from Malaysia. T&T will open its first store in Montreal soon, I hope they will have the fresh fish paste.

What’d you think of Daddy Lau’s recipe?
Love this. Been watching many of ahpak's video. He has good taste and skills.
“Cantonese people will stuff anything”. This is so true!! My mom would stuff everything and anything. Thank you all for the video!!
I love stuffed peppers, but I have never seen anything like this before. I am definitely going to try this.
I love this format where we also get to hear you and your dad talk in canto. I feel like I’m back home with my family.
I really love listening to your father talk... He always reminds me of my grandfather. Your father is a treasure and your baby is the one of the luckiest kids around to have a grandpa who is a great cook... I'm jealous 😂
I appreciate that your dad still cares about the appearance of his dishes. We eat with our eyes too!!

You can make it with pork too!
You can use pork or beef as a substitute.

I follow your father's way to make the dish and it is very delicious. My family loves it. I also like the way your father talk. Envy you have such a great father.
poor Nicole! my heart would break if I was allergic to sesame. very thoughtful of your dad to set some aside for her w/o the sesame oil.
This is one of the few things my mom would let me help her prepare so this warms my heart. I’m an expert in adding corn starch and stuffing the paste into the pepper. 😊

Gas is good for you don't be shy, it's just your body doing what it's supposed to!
Amazing! Thank you Mr Lau for the tutorial! It's soooo much easier for me now to cook Chinese dishes!
This is one of my fav Cantonese dishes! I am from HK but live in NYC :)

Yummy watching from Singapore .... Ho sek 😋
Ho sek = 好食 also 好色 😂
@@hermanchow1405 好 吃 - delicious
I made these on Saturday.. I found the mixture went a long way and I had to cut up some more pieces of capsicum. Easy to make and great flavour.
Mmmmmmm! I love this and any patty related dish❤
As a Cantonese person myself, I agree. We will stuff -Anything-
What fish do you use? I saw the recipe and I don’t know what “Swai” is in the U.K.
My mum used to stuff it with minced pork.
Thanks for the video 🙏
I have a question - what will you do if you have some filling remaining? I don't wanna waste any of the fish or shrimp 😀
Also i love the family vibe if your channel, i have many recipes saved to try!
Just fried, steam or grill. Then add some soy sauce or any sauce you like. Have it with rice, noodles, bread or anything.
Just scoop the filling into small dollops and fry it along with the stuffed peppers.
Another classic dish!
Вкусно и сытно! 👍👍👍Delicious and satisfying!👍👍👍

I love the video! ❤ What brand knife clever is used in the video?
Itd be cool to see your dad react to some hong kong or guangzhou street food vendors

These minced small amounts should not take long
Thank you! Can you pls share how you keep your board clean and do you use different boards for working with veg vs proteins?

interesting, never thought about seafood filling for stuffed bellpeppers because of how much i'm used to beef+rice filling we do here

Like the ladies finger, egg plant, fresh shitake, water spinach, bell pepper, enoki, fish balls, fried skin and white triangle taufu....
This could be really good with poblano peppers.
Thank you.

This was my absolute favorite thing my grandmother made, but she used jalapeños.
Thanks!
Thank YOU, Blythe!
