Also, have you noticed how much the sugar content has been rising in soda type drinks throughout the years? Its around one hundred and something percent in one can now in some for the same drink back in the day which used to only be around twenty something percent and it kept adding.

The phosphorous contained in any carbonated drink raises the phosphorous levels in your body, which in turn, automatically begins a process of returning it to normal levels (in your body) but in order to do that it needs calcium, so unless you take calcium supplements every time you have a carbonated drink, your body extracts the calcium from itself: your bones. So in other words, i was told though they help you to burp & sedate all the craziness going on in the stomach causing you to FEEL better, whats actually happening is that the stomach acid is weakened & no longer able to fully dissolve, digest, & absorb nutrients from the food we eat... ....which leads to a world of toxins in the body that lead to a world of disease & chronic illness over extended periods of time. I have Myasthenia Gravis and have found it easier to swallow carbonated water than regular water. In fact, I can't even swallow regular water without a straw and even that is difficult. Regular water seems thinner and triggers the swallow mechanism sooner thus choking is always a problem for me. Carbonated water, on the other hand, has air bubbles that seem to help aid the swallowing process and allow me better control of my swallowing. I can also burp easier which settles my stomach.

This may sound strange but I discovered that seltzer water or sparkling water relieved my cluster headaches when nothing else could, not even my tried & true chewing hot pepper flakes. As long as I drink a can/day I also don't develop a cluster headache.
Carbonated water has a few benefits I have experienced: 1) It makes consumption of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice a lot more palatable. 2) Drinking it rapidly when it is very cold does not cause the same "brain freeze" that regular water does. 3) It "tastes" good! 4) The bottles it comes in are stronger than those for regular water, (particularly when the carbonated water is VERY fizzy, like "Buxton" in the UK), so the bottles are easy to reuse several times over.
Great and informative video. SHORT and to the point. Thanks! I am considering buying or making a DIY carbonation system. I much appreciate the pH info.
I was drinking around half my 24 hour fluid needs daily with plain carbonated water. I started having muscular cramps---painful. The electrolytes were too diluted for normal symptoms! I experienced "freezing" of hands/fingers---risky during driving. I switched to coconut water and symptoms went away. Chondroitin sulfate blended into the coconut water has diminished negative bladder symptoms. Don't use CS sparingly, it takes a lot to get it done via oral route but no catheter/instill either. Many things in nature can alleviate many conditions.
I’m the canary...react to flavored, chemical reaction. The plain is great and if I want flavor I add a slice of lime or lemon. Bubly was the worst reaction, for me.
Dr. Petter Gliden (ND) states that the risk of carbonated beberages is that they neutralise stomach acid thus interfering with digestion. I would like to know what you think about that, Dr Berg

Hello Dr. Berg. Question: Can I drink carbonated water while doing water fasting? I just started water fasting and bought a perrier carbonated water. Is this safe? Thank you.
I switched to drinking carbonated water so I could stop drinking soda so much. I would drink a can of soda each day because I loved the bubbles and flavor and saw it as a way to reward myself after a long day at work. But I didn't like still feeling thirsty after drinking soda, and feeling bloated all the time! So I tried carbonated water and while I didn't like it at first, I've noticed my need to drink soda has decreased and I don't feel bloated anymore.
Seltzer is filtered tap water that is carbonated. Tap water has lots of minerals that vary by location and source, so I disagree. Seltzer has minerals. Club soda has added salt (sodium chloride) for taste as an alcoholic drink mixer that it was originally made for.
Thank you for explaining the carbonated water scene! You cleared up a lot of misinformation that I had about it. I now have a couple questions for you. You mentioned that the three types of carbonated water, seltzer, club and tonic, are all artificially carbonated. How does one get naturally carbonated water? Should this be the only type to consume, rather than the artificial kind? Also, if one is going to go with one of the 3 types that you mentioned, would it be best to go with club soda since it has the small amount of minerals and carbonic acid? Summer is arriving and I want to "spike" my plain, flat raspberry iced tea with something that will make it fizzy and fun to drink and not add sugar and other unhealthy ingredients. A big thanks to you and your team for doing these videos. You are helping me to improve my health, vitality and longevity and I really appreciate it!
Isn’t carbonated water , fizzy water? If that’s the case, I thought it reduced the ph of stomach acid? I learnt that drinking fizzy drinks whilst eating food; was a no-no !!!! ??????
This wasn't too long, it was a great explanation. Sometimes you need to explain things in depth, but a 6 minutes video or 9 would be better with a skip ahead guide the first few seconds. I love these videos and appreciate what you're doing. Thank you. No desire for patreon?
I go with LA Croix.... it’s strictly carbonated water naturally essenced. I like to drink it in the evenings with my dinner because it clears the pallet between the different types of food and flavors on my plate. It just adds a nice crispness compared to regular water.
I bought the Aldi's Belle Vie lime flavor sparkling water, no sugar, no artificial sugar. I put in cup, added fresh lime juice and some monkfruit sweatener and ice. omg, omg. delicious.
It's insane how many other countries have banned industrial fluoride/toxic was. Hope you've found a good shower filter to help remove it. That is another cause of getting in your body that most people overlook. Only a handful of major cities in the U.S. have removed it. Hopefully more will start to wake up.

I recently had experienced eye twitching for over 6 months, couldnt figure out why so I went to my eye Dr. and after several test he asked me if I drink tonic water... which I do... like it's water. He advised that I stop, most likely it was the quinine in it, so I did and noticed that within 2 weeks the twitching had lessen but after almost 3 weeks it stopped completely... didn't even notice it. So I drank tonic water again just to test out the theory.. and yup it started up again... So needless to say I don't drink tonic water any more.
I started to drink canada dry tonic with Quinine because some body says to me that it helps with cramps in the hands and other parts of the body...and yes the cramps stoped but a twitch near my right eye and in my right shoulder begun...now i know why.
@@SuchaCaligrrl i'm not thinking on stoping drinking that...but not every day like i was doing it because it really work with the cramps...but i also read that quinine is good for health but if its taken to much can be harmful too.
Almost all tonic water (which isn’t the same as plain carbonated water) is full of sugar, or sugar substitutes in the case of diet tonic water. Do yourself a favor and ditch the tonic water for regular sparkling water.
3 mins really isn't that long of a video anyways. By RUclips search filter setting a video needs to be at least 20 mins long to be considered long. I used to sit through 3 hour college courses with maybe a 10 or 15 min break in between. Tiki Tok and Qubi a site with 10 mins episodes etc and Snap Chat etc, I think are really messing up some people's attention span. I practice keeping my up by listening to Audiobooks.
@@cm_mb l was reading phosphoric acid IS the culprit AND it's in several foods but mostly the drinks to bring out flavor. FACT CHECKING EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT
@@roseh143 your original question, do carbonated drinks deplete calcium? Calcium can be depleted if there's too much phosphoric acid, and it would depend on how much you are consuming. Not all carbonated drinks have phosphoric acid. Also of importance, if a person has kidney disease, or on dialysis, there is low calcium levels as a result of the disease, and avoidance of phosphoric acid in the diet is crucial. Of course this is an extreme example, but consuming carbonated drinks doesn't affect everyone the same. It all depends on amount of consumption, and your individual comorbidities.
Just have two craft beers with dinner. For me, it works great with lchf and IF. People dismiss it, and there is residual sugar, but also loads of polyphenols and or antioxidants. Improves digestion. Fermented grains are better than non-fermented grains.

This may sound strange but I discovered that seltzer water or sparkling water relieved my cluster headaches when nothing else could, not even my tried & true chewing hot pepper flakes. As long as I drink a can/day I also don't develop a cluster headache.
It’s great to hear this I love carbonated mineral water my dad got me hooked on it back in the early 60s..lol
I drink peregrino. It quenches my thirst and helps with digestion
Great and informative video. SHORT and to the point. Thanks! I am considering buying or making a DIY carbonation system. I much appreciate the pH info.
I just love the taste of being carbonated, as long as it doesnt have ANY sugar or taste
Chondroitin sulfate blended into the coconut water has diminished
negative bladder symptoms. Don't use CS sparingly, it takes a lot to get it done via oral route but no catheter/instill either. Many things in nature can alleviate many conditions.
Are the naturally flavored waters... La Croix and Bubly etc... Okay for you?
No, Natural Flavors are just chemicals. This ingredient is so deceiving.
@@7twenty8 Well everything is a chemical. Do we know what chemicals they are?
Matt C from what I know they’re not much different than artificial flavors. Bobby Parrish has a video covering this topic.
I’m the canary...react to flavored, chemical reaction. The plain is great and if I want flavor I add a slice of lime or lemon. Bubly was the worst reaction, for me.
I prefer Ozarka sparkling water with the juice of a lime.
Dr. Petter Gliden (ND) states that the risk of carbonated beberages is that they neutralise stomach acid thus interfering with digestion. I would like to know what you think about that, Dr Berg
Maybe I'm just making this up, but I swear when I'm drinking regular bottled water I get more acid reflux than when I'm drinking carbonated water... 🤷
checkersssss9 Me too!!! I think I have low stomach acid and the carbonation helps me digest my food better!
me too....Sprite zero,,with lemon does the job...feel relief after big burps....
Im crazy about your content
I watch 2 to 3 Videos every single day
And can't get enough of it
You're truly my mentor and I'm totally in love with your science
I hope One day We may Met and I'd like to take some photos with you and have a little chat 🌹
Really great, reasonably short, concise video. Thanks very much.
I've always liked sparkling water but assumed it is worse than still water. A lesson in trusting your gut (literally) perhaps.
Hello Dr.
Doing this now and dont miss the Coke at all. The tingly fizz is all I needed, not missing the sugar or caffeine at all.
@@greasebob you add anything to it at all? I just bought a carbonator machine an tried adding lemon and sea salt
Tonic water actually contains a lot of sugar, almost the same amount as in regular soft drink.
Suggestion: Your marker needs to be darker. I couldn't see it at all as you wrote and underlined with it.
I like bitter foods too. I am going to have to try the tonic water. Thank you! As some one else mentioned, love your honesty and being genuine!!
Thank you for your comment. Have a nice day!
Isn’t carbonated water , fizzy water?
If that’s the case, I thought it reduced the ph of stomach acid?
I learnt that drinking fizzy drinks whilst eating food; was a no-no !!!!
??????
Yeah where did this information go? Checks out scientifically too
Since my gallbladder been removed since it's been extremely helpful to drink up to 4 bottles of Perie or geyser or peligreno naturally carbonate water
This wasn't too long, it was a great explanation. Sometimes you need to explain things in depth, but a 6 minutes video or 9 would be better with a skip ahead guide the first few seconds. I love these videos and appreciate what you're doing. Thank you. No desire for patreon?
I drink it with ACV apple cider vinegar. Tastes really good.
Wow I love carbonated water perfect soda replacement
QUESTION??? What about the natural flavors?? Most naturals flavoring in regular foods is hiding msg, what about sparkling waters natural flavorings???
I go with LA Croix.... it’s strictly carbonated water naturally essenced. I like to drink it in the evenings with my dinner because it clears the pallet between the different types of food and flavors on my plate. It just adds a nice crispness compared to regular water.
Its my favorite so far too-- it and Perrier but La Croix is good and much cheaper.
I bought the Aldi's Belle Vie lime flavor sparkling water, no sugar, no artificial sugar. I put in cup, added fresh lime juice and some monkfruit sweatener and ice. omg, omg. delicious.
Careful with a lot of these also contain some flouride!
It's insane how many other countries have banned industrial fluoride/toxic was. Hope you've found a good shower filter to help remove it. That is another cause of getting in your body that most people overlook. Only a handful of major cities in the U.S. have removed it. Hopefully more will start to wake up.
I love Crystal Geyser carbonated water with the essence of lemon. So refreshing without the sugar. Perfect for diabetics. - Thanks for all the great videos Doc! 👏
@@yanero0215 yup my twitching was also on my right eye.
For the first time in thousand years I finally opened a RUclips video that jump right in the topic. Thank you sir
No need to be sorry for educating, long videos sometimes educate better.
I love getting lemon Perrier and adding a little liquid monk fruit and ginger juice.
Very interesting!
What about the claim that drinking "sodas" can lead to bladder or kidney stones? Would that apply to carbonated water as well?
I heard that it’s bad for kidneys and for osteoporosis bc of phosphorus.
Whether it works is not "based on your preference" its "based on your stomach acid level." That dictates how it will react inside.
Thank you for the great video and the time you invested to make it, your work, passion and effort are greatly appreciated!
Jó látni egy magyart is ✌️
(A név az valódi? 🤔)
Thank you so much, Dr. Berg. We really appreciate your videos!
I believe there is no real evidence that is it healthier than normal water 😅
How to Medicate I do believe that is exactly what he says.
I don’t know if it’s better, but it’s definitely better than drinking sugary sodas. It makes me feel like I’m drinking a soda instead of water.
Thank you for this video . Everyone gives me crap because I drink carbonated water. Now I can show them this video. In your face!!!
I love carbonated water, I drink sparking spring water which has a lot of trace elements in it
I always heard the carbonation depleates the calcium from our bones...true or false
Yeah, was quite a big deal for a good while. Suprised Dr. B didn't mention it either way. Still a mystery.......
And is harder on the liver.
Only if there's phosphoric acid would it upset the calcium balance. I think only cola has it, not selzer water, but check the label to be sure.
*What about the natural flavors in sparking water?*
There is not legal definition of natural , example you could have natural lemon flavor it starts off with a lemon than they can add all sorts of chemicals in it to enhance flavors and still call it natural because it started with a natural product, so i would go without flavor and add lemon or other stuff my self
@@thegamer.__.086 *yeah that's prob the best*
natural flavor - beaver anal gland secretion ! wish Dr B would address this since its in everything.
Carbonated drinks (like soleil) has been my soda replacement and i heard someone say it was bad for u and I panicked because i cannot imagine without it! It doesn’t seem to make me feel worse so im glad you cleared it up!
Its basically as healthy as normal water.
Love the “based on your personal preference” and knot heads still give this simple discussion a thumbs down. 😀 ✌️
G&T is my favorite drink (besides water) and I miss it badly! I love the perfect flavor of the ingredients. G&T is my ONLY temptation to break keto -so far, so good, but it’s only been 14 days.
