At 2:48 a St Michael chime is heard to use the bottom note twice in one sequence. What make of clock is it? I remember this anomaly cropping up in another St Michael chime clock, but I can't remember what clock it was.
Crikey I had a JW Benson clock with that exact same movement (the Westminster, Whittington, Winchester one featured at the start) but the chimes would continually stick, and I eventually got rid of it. I wish I'd kept it.
@robertgift Thank you, The FHS clock has not been serviced yet, that's why it doesn't sound too good. I've only serviced three of these clocks in this video which are two gustav beckers and the kienzle triple chime clock. Do you bell ring at Denver clocktower? Chris
This video inspired me to to acquire a number of clocks. My favorite by far is the Garrard (1st one). I searched for 3 years before finding one. It runs pretty well and I love the sound that it has. It stays set on the Winchester chime most of the time time.
@sodaclublad Your clocks will be fun to service and adjust. Hope you get them all chiming together. What a sound that will be. Many clocks ticking is very pleasing to the ear. There is a chime of 10 bells in the Denver City Hall clocktower. Except for bells A,G,F C chiming the Westminster Chime, they had been unplayed for two decades until I discovered them and founded a new Denver holiday tradition playing carols every evening while the City and County Building Christmas lights are on.
Can I ask, do your clocks have two different versions of St Michael? I'm sure one of them sounded the bottom note twice in the last sequence of the hour chime, and I'm positive I've heard this on another clock sometime previously, so I'm sure I'm not imagining things...
The 3rd one "ECG Whittington" is a Petersen Whittington clock. Petersen made a Westminster clock as well with the same movement. Not uncommon, but a good German movement with a neat rack design. Love the Gustav Beckers.
Wow! Wonderful clocks. Well done presentation! Is the FHS hammer staying on its rod? I must write down the Kienzle St. Michael and 1st Becker Whittington chime. While playing Christmas Carols on the Denver City and County Building clocktower bells, on the hours and quarters I play clock chimes from around.
I think your clocks are so beautiful. I have my own clock collection that is usually between 10 and 15 clocks. Two of them are 8 rod clocks. They sound quite nice. I keep trolling around out there hoping that I can find a Garrard that I can afford. Do a search for 4 chime french clock. I see that video and think.... only in my dreams.
This is the Gustav Becker rendition of Whittington. There were a few other manufacturers that used this Whittington as well, but Gustav Becker is most known for it. You can hear it at 3:02 as well. Urgos also used this chime sequence as well.
@@OfficialMichaelTheCollector Calling this chime the "German Whittington" is actually a misnomer, from what I've learned from others it's actually better to be known as the way I described it.
I already heard all Whittingtons and Gabriel Pahilanga's favorite Chime is Whittington (American and the variation that JJ Eliott and Peerless did), and Winchester (his 2nd favorite chime)
Love that GARRARD winchester mantle clock at 0:05! It looks and sounds great!

Nice clocks! Some of yours doesn't work, so what are you gonna do? One strikes a different one.
Older urgos has much better chimes!
