It has been a delight to watch Vishnu Som all these years, allowing us to have an insight into all the "birds" of our air force .. but reinforced aircraft shelters/hangars like that of the Chinese would have been better,
    It is vulnerable to attacks

actually the hangers u see are used to keep ready to fly fighters....other fighters are kept in flame busters that are made of very thick concrete and steel and even camouflaged from bombing run .... so iaf is all prepared .... from not an inch less in operation readiness compared to china

and you think we can't see in advance the arrival of Chinese planes???? in France, we have an OTH or Trans Horizon radar, it is located 60 km west of Paris, everyone knows it in Europe, even the Russians, it is so powerful and efficient, which detected the takeoff of the Ariane rocket in Kourou in South America, more than 7000 km, we can follow air traffic over Ukraine and a large part of Russia close to Europe, we can even follow the planes which ride on the slopes, even beyond the horizon line!! it is called the NOSTRADAMUS, it is made up of 3 branches spaced 120° apart from a central point, each branch 120 meters long is equipped with several dozen dipole type antennas! it managed to follow a 4x4 in the dunes of the Sahara, yes, it even detects on the ground! and he followed 2x American B2 type stealth bombers more than 2000 km away! same transponder turned off or without Luneburg lenses! we have another OTH radar in the south of France, which monitors the Mediterranean Sea!! he can follow all the boats! it's the TRADIVARIUS (named after the Italian violin or cello manufacturer! nothing can escape them! so before Chinese planes arrive, the Rafales will already have taken off, it takes 6 minutes in France to get our Rafales off the ground!

Rafale is a smart choice for India it’s a great platform and a step away from Russian military tech which has consistently underperformed in its invasion of Ukraine. India should consider the carrier version as well as it allows easy conversion between both forces in the event of a naval or land conflict.

India needs at least two more Rafale squadron for Hasimara and Ambala so that more numbers of fighters are patrolling in the Air. Currently India's AWACS strength are not in required numbers so Airforce need to keep pressure on government of india. I wonder if we have any AWACS deployed in the eastern region. Not sure why we are not procuring more Advance Phalcon AWACS from Israel in parallel developing our own system. It will take time for us to build advance sensors and masters in the weaponry. Airforce need force multiplier from fighter aircraft, AWACS, Mid Air refuller, Combat Capable UAV and multi layered missile defence systems.

And the AM - What a thorough officer and gentleman! In Lean manufacturing terms, a true “Servant-Leader”, humble, articulate/well-spoken; knows the value of the foot soldier/airman and none of the pompous and ceremonial aura staff/command officers often project! IAF is truly well-served by such officers and of course, equally capable frontline forces (including the unsung heroes, the ground personnel)! Remembering my late uncle, who sadly perished way too young in a crash; commanded 108 Sqn. 🙏🙌
And of course, last but not least, the machine itself! Reliable, sophisticated yet rugged, another in a series of truly global products from France! Applaud this government’s sense of urgency and purpose to upgrade service capabilities! Long-neglected, hoping this momentum continues.

But I couldnt help notice one thing, while they showed hardened pens/bunker being built of Chinese side, we had only open air shelter and hangars for our such prized aircrafts specially when Hasimara is so close to Chinese border or maybe they do have hardened bunkers on our side as well but we didn't see in the show.

Even if one imagines Rafale to be the best fighter in the world, there is no evidence of its indigenisation, at least I can't find any. On the other hand, China whom Rafales are supposed to counter, is using world-class pulsating production lines to speed up deliveries of its advanced J-20 Mighty Dragon stealth jet fighters. Pulsed production lines are manufacturing systems that use intermittent production cycles, where production occurs in short bursts or pulses, followed by periods of rest or downtime. The application of the new pulsating production lines and domestic engines had pushed the number of J-20s to equal, or even exceed, the number of US F-22 Raptors.
Few Rafales will be no competition to PLAAF. China would be able to produce J-20s at its will, but India will not be able to import as many as it will need if a confrontation really happens - Dassault is already hard-pressed to scale up production to meet India's 84 import order besides its existing commitment to the French Armed Forces.

The Rafale is certainly a big step up for India.
But it is not 'cutting edge', imo.
Fifth or sixth generation fighters would be 'cutting edge'.
The Rafale is 4.5 generation - at best.
Still, it is a great acquisition - especially if they also buy the 'M' variant for their aircraft carriers.

It is the man behind the machine , not machine that counts. During the last 4-5 years, an IAF SU 30 ejected both its pilots, AD crew shot their own helicopter, A Black Hawk helicopter crashed when it's undercarriage hit the ground, another SU30 caught fire, a C130 hit the ground when the pilot tried to perform aerobatics, a BrahMos misfired and went all the way deep into Pakistan to hit the ground, a helicopter carrying India's CDS hit trees and crashed. Where do I end?

The Dassault Rafale (French pronunciation: [ʁafal], literally meaning "gust of wind", or "burst of fire" in a more military sense) is a French twin-engine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault Aviation.
