When they say it's un-repairable, they actually mean that it is not cost effective to repair it. Since Hugh didn't account for the labour he put in this, it might be 60 dollars (and a nice video) for him, but for a shop, it's like loosing money.
It was my local repair shop, they are horrendously bad at repairs with use of low quality parts and they cut corners wherever they can. Had someone with a iPhone 6s come to me after they had just charged the LCD and home button. The home button didn't have its gasket so was moving loosely around so the cable would likely break within a new weeks. it had a lose screw floating inside and didn't have the water resistant seal installed. So I am guessing they didn't know how to repair the LG G6 or just couldn't be bothered.

Yesterday I got myself a pristine looking G6 for less than 40 $ because the battery was shot... it's a 10 $ repair so practically a brand new condition G6 for 50 bucks. I feel proud
This. It stays forever and also works as a gasket to prevent dust and a bit of water. When I used double sided tape it would always start lifting after a couple months.

Yes, for me starting off by buying broken iphones and restoring them was the way to go. Still doing it, but if you want to start off, start it with an old iphone or android phone and make sure that you are able to fix phones, use high quality parts and all that. Good luck!
It also requires skill. Take this for example. I know how to work woth apple devices. But when it comes to samsung and lg. I had to learn how to take them apart and put them back toghether. And also do you think you might do videos on repairing phones???
Minecraft bro51 yes as the iphones are always built the same way with the screen coming off first, the only iphone that didnt have it was the iphone 4s and before. With modern android devices it is a little harder to open up but the insides are alot easier to work with than an iPhone.
This was a pretty straightforward repair that went well. Just wanted to point out that using a metal pry tool around the battery is very dangerous since you can puncture it and start a fire, and that LG helps you out by putting a grip on the battery to help remove it. That's what the little blue piece was on the old battery, and it would have been a good idea to remove it and place it on the new battery.
The battery was poorly stuck in, at it bad been removed previously and they didn't install new adhesive. But yeah wasn't the smartest idea of mine ahaha.

I have a G6 that suddenly refused to charge or turn on even when when plugged in so thanks for the video, I'm going to dive in and see what's up with my every day device that I cant be without.
The G6 sadly was underspec'd for the year it was released since they didnt wait for the 835 to come out. Also its battery life is pretty subpar compared to other offerings like the S8. I loved my G4 but everything else sense has been kind of a let down when I looked into going back to LG.
Actually it was Samsung fault a out the CPU, they got all the 835s, forcing LG to use the SD 821 instead, otherwise it wouldn't have been released on schedule.
It's actually possible to replace the display with a frame already attached, would save on total cost and comes with a grill. It's never a good idea to put adhesive on the back of an LCD.

In support of the right to repair instead of throwing things away. Most of my mobile phones are saved from the junk heap and repaired (to be used by myself for another 4 to 5 years) before finding another repair job to upgrade to. Lo e what you've done!
There are displays with frame installed on it readily available on AliExpress. Saves you the time and much reliable glue between frame and the display.
I got an LG G6 from my friend for 20$ about half a year ago, it has a slightly cracked screen and the headphone jack doesn't work, but otherwise it's a good phone.

I've replaced my G6 back glass cover 3 times, the vibration module 1 time and the fingerprint module 1 time . So yes, this phone is very easy to repair.

I have the silver variant and although my main phone is an iPhone 13 pro, I keep the LG around as a backup device and for music since it has a headphone jack lol, it still feels like a good phone even nowadays, I love the look too!

A good tip is to use packing tape to seal the broken glass back before removing. I've had shards come off the back and make a mess.
