      @@lukewatson059 Yes it won't have direct impact, but as louis rossman says it's not just right to repair that's going to fix all the problems it's the consumers who will make a change. If parts are available more easily then more people would be intrested in fixing their devices or getting them fixed as repair costs and time will be lower. Once that happens people when buying a new product will consider reparability too which will slowly force companies to make their products more repairable. It's a chain of events and right to repair is first step towards it.

    • @3Clod
      @3Clod 2 года назад +2

      fact is the technology involved is very delicate there and the device needs to be secured from curious customers who would damage it and then just trash it (thus dealing even more pollution) or complain the product is crap because it didn't whitstand the blows of their jackhammer. Apple's policy has always been dedicated to protecting their product knowing the average consumer can't be trusted, so if anything doesn't work it's due to their engineers and they can control the evolution in a more efficient way.
      I tried to change a battery from one ipad once, following a thorough tutorial and was very careful yet... the wifi didn't work anymore. I'm sure I didn't touch anything wrong and yet the device was suddenly trash.

      Apple harp on about their environmental credentials but make it impossible for expert third party repair, they literally refuse to provide componants so repair shops can't fix problems even though they know how to do so. Its so shady.

    • @PvtAnonymous
      @PvtAnonymous 2 года назад +6

      @@pashko90 the rest of them isn‘t getting any better though. On Samsung you have the INSANELY strong „elephant glue“ for the batteries, with no pull tabs. And for some reason the I/O-daughterboard is usually glued in place (on top of being screwed in). Sony‘s phones break so easily when you repair them. Huawei is really piece of junk, especially their laptops. They‘re the chinese Apple indeed. OnePlus gotta swap everything over, LG - don‘t get me started on this one… The whole industry is like that. We now have phones that are designed to not be repaired at all.

    Yo, for that SMART connector trouble:
    Once you've got the bracket and glue off, and pried up the cabling, You can use a conveniently shaped piece of plastic and a small hammer to pop the circular bits inward. A plastic spudger cut/ground down to shape works nicely. Still gotta be really careful, tho.

    I wonder if the glue under the login board is to improve thermal conduction to the case.
