  • In this video, I'm reacting to Dmitry Klokov's 205 kg snatch session, which was having place before London 2012 Olympics. At that time Klokov was in the best form of his life.

      All those numbers are obviously excellent, but especially his pressing / jerk numbers. 262 jerk from rack and 180 strict press are some insane figures.

    Very cool video Gabriel! Klokov was an inspiration to many to get into weightlifting.
    I’d love to see your analysis of Norik Vardanian’s lifting style. He never ended up with a lot of international success but he is an amazing lifter nonetheless and has a very unique and technical style. Plus, he is Urik Vardanyan’s son…

    I noticed this week that most top snatch have their balance a bit back so the shin are straighter and so I tried it and it felt much better to me

    is it possible to get Zhassulan Kydyrbayev 94kg 2014 Almaty with also Vladimir Sedov? They were amazing in their performance and brilliance.
    A performance of a lifetime both of them, if any one of them it will work, if both superb.

    Gabriel, can you do Dmitry Lapikov's 210×2 and 217 snatch. I tried too copy his starting position because I have the same height and body type but it didn't work for me. When I saw Akbar Djuraev's 205 snatch, I understood what I had to do and my snatch increased 10kg immediately. Just like when you saw Yuri Zaharevish clean, you understood what to do.

  • @benjamingrunberg7807
    @benjamingrunberg7807 Год назад +1

    Akkaev actually injured his back very seriously in training hall at olympics and then he tested positive. Klokov never went! Officially knee injury but rumors were that he tested positive internally in Russia.

    Gabriel, how would you fix the common mistake of lifter's toes going up when the bar passes the knee? I would suggest them to stay over the bar longer.

    • @xmikexthexwizardx
      @xmikexthexwizardx Год назад +1

      I am working on this mistake in my snatch. From what i have heard from him, i think he would say to use the legs well and push through the full foot. Pushing with the legs causes the knees to go back and allow the bar to be close to the center of mass. In my own technique, i think the bar doesnt come towards me enough off the floor and my knees are in the way, so after i pass the knee the bar is a bit too far away, so my weight is back to balance it out/compensate and then it shifts back forward after the knee i.e., my toes come up because i have to shift my weight to compensate for the bar not being close enough to my center of mass so my body weight and the weight of the bar can come back together
      Gabriel’s toes sometimes lift up in his heavy snatches and he has done 190 so it probably isnt the most important. Main focus is probably as much power as possible while maintaining balance and bar path.
      I wonder what he thinks using the lats, because, for example, in toma loredana’s 121 at worlds training hall you can clearly see her shoulders being in front of the bar.
      This has been an essay and idk if you or gabriel will see it but i am helping myself by thinking this through anyway lol

    • @xmikexthexwizardx
      @xmikexthexwizardx Год назад +1

      Edit: klokov actually says to keep the shoulders in front of the bar in the pull

  • @benjamingrunberg7807
    @benjamingrunberg7807 Год назад

    Gabriel, why do you think Klokov has black tape on the barbell?

  • @benjamingrunberg7807
    @benjamingrunberg7807 Год назад

    Klokov tried to snatch like Chigishev but it didnt work for him. Klokov used only his back because he had a lot of problems and injuries with his quads and hamstrings thats why he has wraps around his legs and not knees and why he did som much deficit romania snatch deadlift.

  • @jcs1921
    @jcs1921 Год назад

    he has one leg longer than the other and that’s probably why his legs are not symmetrical in starting position

    Torokhtiy teaches (ukrainian technique ) to stay over the bar as long as possible but he was never good snatcher, only 185 in comp. I rather listen to Gabriel because his trainer was Nicu Vlad. One of the world's best if not the best snatchers in history. 200,5kg at 100kg bodyweight.
